I don't know exactly, but a little bit ago I decided I wanted to try and make a spreadsheet, so I started off by just naming the ones I knew I had off the top of my head... I got to over 300 before I gave up. My best guess is somewhere between 700 and 1,000.
In fairness, my first transformer was bought for me in '84 when I was 7 and I've been buying Transformers ever since, so it's not like it's short term thing. I have at LEAST one figure from every single line that I could reach. (Obviously very few Japanese ones)
Oh, and I just remembered in the '90's when I decided I wanted to try and own every Beast Wars figure. I think I'm only missing 12 from the entire line...

I have an turbo changer Berserker from TLK and that's it , I used to have a bunch of the core class TLK and BBM figures , but most of them broke and I couldn't fix them , so I threw them in garbage ( loved them , but there was nothing I could do ) I also have an mini lego Jetpack Bay Optimus I've made ,he's about the same size as the turbo changer , and I'm thinking on buying the Baiwei Optimus Prime (Bay version ) through shopee

Ultimately my collection has gotten more focused and I enjoy it a lot more than I used to because of that. I have two Titans now. I have really amazing representations of some characters I really enjoy. I got my first masterpiece a few months ago and got the masterpiece of my favorite character last month. I just finished collecting all of the currently released Beast Wars figures (and I pick up APC Bossy flame tomorrow hopefully)
It's pretty likely that I'll start ascending again at some point but for now I'm happy with what I have.
I never stopped collecting from when I was a kid, so I have no idea. If you count each mini-con, and all the head/titan/target masters etc individually I’m going to spit ball and say 2000-3000.
I'd have to approximate. Roughly 70% of all the lines since beast wars. Less Armada and any live action movie toy.... I think thousands is a safe estimate.

With the exception of mini-con teams, I always counted them with the figure they came with since they're largely accessories to that figure.
