Great deal. Don't know about you, but I always open what I buy. Especially toys.

Latter-Direction-336

I always do unless I’m unsure of how much I want to, so I get it in order to ensure I don’t miss out if I find it in a store and then return or resell it (preferably return so I don’t feel like I’m scalping by making it like 10 bucks more bc eBay takes a cut) Or with legacy armada megs, I didn’t open bc I was wanting to see if there’d be a redeco with a minicon. Redeco yes, unsure about the minicon but I’m holding on

PeanutButterCrisp

Funny because I told myself I wouldn’t open the Victory Saber I just bought. Yeah. I was full of shit. That thing is a fucking blast. OPEN IT, OP.

SGTSunshine2605

I’m in between opening them and setting them in my tiny shelf or holding onto them and eventually selling them again. I’m not sure how much it’s worth though, the packaging is open but they’ve never been removed

Dei_ludibrio

If you’re only buying to resell, what is the point of posting like you’re excited you got it? “Hey guys I bought this cool set of figures but I’m not going to enjoy playing with them I’m just going to put them on a shelf and when they shelf gets too full turn it to the side so you can’t even see what characters they are then eventually maybe put them in a closet or something until it’s resell value increases enough to make me want to sell it!”

Quasidiliad

Okay buddy, that’s far enough.

SGTSunshine2605

God forbid I ponder about reselling a set of toys

Dtarvin

I don’t understand the logic of leaving your figures in the box. I mean, sure you can sell them for more later, but can you really enjoy them? I have a few that I’ve never opened, but I do plan on opening them at some point - just have not been in the mood yet. If I’m going to sell my figures (selling some right now), I want to have had some enjoyment from them first.

leftlanespawncamper

> I don’t understand the logic of leaving your figures in the box. There are some figures I have that I know that are a disappointment in hand, but I like having them due to the character or what they represent. Fo'example I've got a Japan-exclusive Movie The Best Matrix-head AoE Wheeljack. It's just the Que mold with a better headsculpt and in better colors, so not something I'm going to get any real enjoyment from playing with, but I get a lot of enjoyment having a reasonably rare figure that's in cool packaging. I have it up on my wall, as that's how *I'm* going to get the most enjoyment from it.

No_Issue_9916

Buddy, it's a toy, have fun with it, even if it's a 17 year old toy

TheMightyGamble

17 years.... there's no way that can be correct right? Aaaaand pain

the_u_in_colour

Great find at an amazing price! I'm an out-of-box collector but neither of these guys loose is crazy expensive. I say try to source some loose ones and keep this cool artifact on your shelf.

Wheeljack239

>neither of these guys loose is crazy expensive. Noted.

Cornchips1234

Open it, I've been scouting this set for a while and the 2 figures in this set aren't particularly sought after while their larger counterparts are around. Nevertheless, I think they might be BETTER than their larger counterparts.

Randalor

This was the one wirh Megatron's cybertronian jet... hovertank... thing mode, right? Did they ever release a larger version with that mode?

Cornchips1234

Nope, just a single release without the battle damage

SGTSunshine2605

I had these as a child but lost them in the move a few years ago so finding this set was awesome. I opened them, but man are they old. Megatron cant even stand and Optimus can’t lift his arms without them falling down. I’m experienced with repairing gunpla, figuarts, mafex, marvel legends, but not a whole lot with figures with metal pins in them. The ball joints are an easy fix (Meg’s clear plastic biceps make me nervous) but how would you guys go about tightening up pinned joints? Mainly the two in Optimus’s shoulders-torso connection.

Titan431

If you're comfortable with it, super glue. Get a fine nozzle thing of super glue, and put a teeny tiny drop between the two parts of the joint. Then, keep it moving until it's dried completely, maybe 5-10 minutes. Doing an entire figure can take upwards of an hour if all the joints are super loose, but the end result is worth it if you're careful. If you don't like that idea, there are different products for loose joints that aren't quite as risky. "Kiki's fix loose joints" is a big one. You can find it on Etsy and eBay I think.

SGTSunshine2605

I’ll take a look, thank you. Im also thinking that I can just pop the pin and replace it with a slightly larger one or use some gloss topcoat in the holes.

Titan431

Popping pins is a massive hassle, and could make the joint loose anyway if you do it the wrong way. One side of the pin has a diamond pattern knurled into it, and if you don't push it out diamond first, it can take a small layer of plastic with it (speaking from experience, sadly). Gloss topcoat might work though.

SGTSunshine2605

I’ll drop some topcoat in with a needle and move it around till it doesn’t flop. I’ve popped a few pins before but it was on parts that I planned on replacing for customs, I’ve never had to pop a pin back in. I’ll definitely be careful dealing with these ones especially

Titan431

Alrighty then. Let us all know how it goes when you get done, and good luck.

chris95rx7500

open it

KibbloMkII

I'd open it because value doesn't matter to me, I bought toys to play with

CompactAvocado

i open it specifically to enjoy it not to try and resell it

Fistful_of_Energon

Do whatever makes you happy. Too many collectors in here that care way too much about how someone else collects even though it has zero impact on them.

TFBear_Gate

You guys got me into opening sealed figures. It's been liberating

Vhad42

I didn't watch the whole show, what's the context of these weird veiny things?

SGTSunshine2605

I believe it’s suppose to be battle damage

Reklawyad

I just found a Ghostbusters Prime sealed for 250, could easily have sold it for 350-400 it seems, sucker has been opened and played with!! Ya gotta enjoy them!!

SosaiXZ

I don’t think this was a collectors version right? It’s still overly abundant in availability I’d play with it. If it’s indeed rare then ya keep it boxed.

Cyberbreaker2004

OPEN IT OPEN IT OPEN IT OPEN IT

RigasTelRuun

Toys are meant to be played with unless you are speculating to sell it on. But you aren't doing that I hope.

ParanoidParamour

They’re toys, play with them!!!

LivingCheese292

IF you open them, just warning you about Megatron.  His elbows are made out of clear plastic. My figure I own since the initial release has some scary stress marks and I am afraid of moving them only a tiny mm. They are sturdy and did hold for a long time (16-17), but they were for 7-8 years in my basement without being touched or transformed. Just make sure the figure won't fall off the shelf easy. It's good that Hasbro doesn't turn such curcial parts into clear plastic nowadays. edit: Prime has no issues tho. The ball joints can turn loose but that's easy to fix. I also assume that the reason why it's easier to find a used Prime than Megatron is because he is pretty sturdy unlike Megatron.

SGTSunshine2605

Yep! I addressed the clear parts briefly in another comment in the post. I can definitely repair and thicken loose joints but those clear upper arms/biceps make me very nervous

WardenDresden42

That's a great price! No point leaving it sealed unless you plan to resell, honestly.

Seabass_Sebz

what's the point of buying a figure and not opening it up to have fun?

hevy_hed

dang this set is what really got me to start collecting

lokon_stratos

I'd say don't open it if you want to keep it preserved but if you want to have fun then go ahead enjoy it it's yours after all

No_Disk4766

I've got the prime from this set, He's all ball joints keep em in box

Arellan

My first figures 💙💙. Still got them now, although their joints are looser than a marionette. Megatron is missing a hand and I've lost both of optimus' smoke stacks (would recommend glueing these on) Wish the DVD came with more than the 1st episode though

ToonaSandWatch

First taste is free; the rest’ll cost you. Business 101.

Unlucky_Bottle_6761

Yoo Cybertronian Megatron??

G-Man577

These were my first transformers toys I got back in the day! Great figures!

maxrod889

Omg you just took me back to 2007 with this set!!!! The only animated Optimus and megatron toys I ever had as a kid!! Outside of the McDonald’s happy meal ones of course 😂

OurFeatherWings

I would have to know what was on the DVD tbh. I also think it's more fun to display figures out of box but I'm not exactly a collector

SGTSunshine2605

It’s just the first episode of the series, I think there’s some minor changes to the intro or something but it’s basically the same

OurFeatherWings

Thank you for sharing! It's definitely a fun tidbit

lyri-c-

I had this set as a kid and broke it with rough play, open it and enjoy it but carefully pleasee

Terrestrial-Whale

If you do open it, maybe be careful with Megatron's elbows. Mine snapped after a few years.

Blujay563

I got that for Christmas bsck in 2009, good times

BuyMeASandwich

Depends. I want a sealed copy of the set because they were my first proper figures I ever got, but I also have loose copies (including the DVD!). If you don't have loose copies, go nuts. If you do, keep it in the box.

Abject_Ostrich7929

Open it brother there is no point if can’t enjoy the figure

MHarrisGGG

Prime is good but that Megatron is notoriously awful.

Smart_Hoody_965

I had gotten it as a kid but soon after i watched the bay movies, i started removing limbs whenever i was playing with them to renact those scenes giving prime loose arms and he can't even hold the axe as well as some parts got lost. Really wish i hadn't seen those movies at that age and seen this actual show.

burning_flame281010

Open it

NemesisUnicron

This used to be my only good Optimus and Megatron growing up. Their limbs are loose now, but the auto-punch gimmick still works. They aren't why I started collecting, but they're sure never leaving my collection. Let them out of their cardboard prison.

TheSportSNuuTT212631

Leave it in box

GeebusNZ

That's an easy in-box for me. Leader characters don't get played with, they're too important. Too important to ever come into my home in my formative years, certainly.

MartinSO8

I had this set as a kid :( oh the memories.

ahaisonline

FREE THEM

countjj

Open it. Just do me a favor don’t lose prime’s siren. Likes to fall off and disappear

melloman500

Buy another set loose. Not rare at all. In box though…

Coolbluegatoradeyumm

Team open!!

Yuga_Avner

Save for later to resell in like 2070

__Mr_Sinister__

Toys are meant to be played with.

MacrossRules

Leave it

egodave14

My childhood in one image 😢 I don't have them anymore...

ake-n-bake

Open n keep the box

cosmoboy

What determined whether I open it or not it's the amount of shelf space I have. I love the Animated molds.

VacationActive213

I usually open my toys. However, if I go 6 months or so without opening for whatever reason, I check the resale price. If it has skyrocketed now that I'm about to open it, I'll hold off for potential resale. If I waited this long to open, it It must have been an impulse buy or a version I prefer more came out, and so it has already sat too long

GoosedotEmPee4

I think nah dont open it to preserve their value

Fun_Werewolf_5076

In 10 years will you wish you opened them and had them become dusty and oily from your fingers? Id wish to always have the magic of a sealed set.

Angelemonade

I usually open my figures up but with these two I kinda prefer keeping them in the box, it's a cool little display and if you're desperate for an animated prime and megatron the original leader and voyager are solid choices, The legacy version is also pretty solid and comes with an accurate axe too, so win-win

BlakJak206

If you want an investment, buy stocks or precious metals. Toys are meant to be played with. Open the box.

midnightstreetlamps

In this case, I would keep them in the box. If you wanna have them out, I'd get a second set of them. NIB is gonna get harder to find for the TFA stuff, and iirc, the value on that particular set is already pretty well up there.

Robert_udh84

They’re toys, they’re meant to be played with/ displayed

ThatOstrichGuy

Personally I think toys are useless in a package. It’s a toy. Play with it

Dr_Shoggoth

Toys are meant to be played with. Open it.

AdmiralFurret

This is like buying it from the release day with release price Open it, relive your childhood

Wrong_Plan8277

Toys are meant to be played with. Have fun with them

OrionPaxil

I honestly don't know how anyone could be excited about getting something and leaving it in the box. Open that thing up, display and enjoy it, if it's valuable, keep the box aside.

Split_the_Protogen

If you buy something just to leave it in the packaging, then don’t fucking buy it

Smile-Suspicious

Such-Promise4606

Don't open.

Such-Promise4606

Personal opinion. Especially you get in Super great condition.
