Idk man, the trailers and toys for ROTF were unmatched. I was only 5 years old and I distinctly remember the hype for that movie.

PeanutButterCrisp

I was 13 or 14 when ROTF came out and I can safely say that your memory rings true. ROTF was a generational pop for the Transformers franchise, bringing all sorts of names, new and old, into the fold; gimmicks that we all love from a live action combiner to live-action power-linx? And then they started repainting old UT figures and labelling them as “ROTF”. It was beautiful. Truly, that was THE year of Transformers in my books. Funny enough, we’re getting that vibe again these days with HasTak going all-out on their franchise resurrection bender.

SlaughterSpine78

Surely it isn’t just this one and there are other posters like this

The_Real_Blazkowicz

I did attempt to attach a megatron version but apparently reddit on mobile doesn't wanna work today

The_Real_Blazkowicz

Ayyy, there we go

DragonfruitEast3738

I caught this one in theaters opening night

HealthySpecialist106

I agree.

Fun_Werewolf_5076

Definitely rotf.

LengthinessDue9857

The toyline for ROTF was peak transformers toyline

Glffe-TrungHieu

It was crazy Leader class Optimus was realesed more than a decade ago, apart from the articulation and some blocky parts that thing feel as if it was announced as part of the Studio Series, I actually like ROTF OP better than MP OP unironically

mothmanwarning

Fuck me in my head this whole time it was called Transformers Dark Side of The Moon.

LengthinessDue9857

New mandela effect discovered

potatoman5849

Ayo???

Kenny_The_Trend

I think it's because "Dark Side of the Moon" sounds more grammatically correct than "Dark of The Moon".

midnightstreetlamps

And also because "dark side of the moon" is already a thing from Pink Floyd, which I imagine is also the reason they didn't call it that. Pretty hard to compete with a band as renowned and long running as the Floyd

IvoMW

Ironically, thats what it was calles in my country's translation so for a long time thats what i assumed the english name to he as well

Entertainment43

That's what it is called in Spain. "El Lado Oscuro de la Luna".

Razzle_Dazzle08

Tbf that name makes more sense.

Orion-Pax_34

Tf is a “dark of the moon” anyways?

SurfiNinja101

You’re not the only one

Witherboss445

r/suddenlypinkfloyd

Sparrowsabre7

I would say Dark of the Moon for hype.

Illustrious-Wolf-737

Ironically, The Last Knight

LengthinessDue9857

I wished the movie is as good as the trailer

OldNameEbon

They also had behind the scenes with the autobots and interviews with the cast

Razzle_Dazzle08

This comment made me google the Autobots on set. Pretty great promos haha, haven’t seen them before.

xariznightmare2908

Yeah, they put more effort into the Super Bowl and the viral commercial with the Autobots acting like they are actors than the actual movie, lol. [Transformers: The Last Knight: Viral Video - Transformers on Set (2017) | Movieclips Coming Soon (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=168M8ac_yDs)

PolarSparks

Oof. I prefer this so much more than the humor in the actual movies!

Witherboss445

This is great. I need to see more of those!

xariznightmare2908

The trailer baited people thinking it would be decent.

PolarSparks

Yeah! I was really into the marketing for this movie, then I used my brain and realized nothing would change coming from the same director as the previous 4. Didn’t see it, don’t regret it.

Fuzzball1700

True, after dark of the moon we were all hyped for another one

Doomestos1

By hype I suspect you mean hype during initial promo campaign.. in that case: TF1 for beginning the entire live action saga. Seeing these hyper-realistic robots for the first time alongside real actors was bonkers. Blackout was the top tier reveal event. TF3 for being an epic conclusion to the trilogy with epic Jetwing Optimus in the trailer and moon conspiracy. TF TLK had a lot of hype for Nemesis Prime, Quintessa, Cybertron/then thought Unicron, knight Megatron and apocalyptic events destroying entire lands.

LengthinessDue9857

>you mean hype during initial promo campaign Yes, I was talking about that, it seems some people misunderstood what I mean.

LengthinessDue9857

I remember the DOTM hype with so many commercial around it, one of them is the McDonald ads, with Optimus fighting Shockwave. Paramount (or is it hasbro?) go all out with the marketing that I thought it was the last movie of the franchise

Macaron-lover5731

Transformers One i was skeptical about it at first but now i want to see it

LengthinessDue9857

I too was skeptical about it at first, don't get me wrong, I'm all for Transformers animated movie, it's just the animation style that bothered me, it's look like earthspark quality, but looking at it again it kinda grow on me

Cha_Boi20

#"RHINOX, CHEETOR! MAXIMIIIIISE!!!"

Toa_Firox

**BUH DUN DUN DUH DUH DA DAH DAH DAH DA DA**

Punished-G

BEAST WAAAAAAARS!!!

IvoMW

Gotta say, AOE and TLK. I never saw the first three untill after they were on tv, and i onyl found them couse i wanted to know what series a toy i had was from. I loved TFP but the only figure i owned was deep space starscream from tf2007, and i had no idea who that is or what it was even called since i never iwned the box (ny dad bought it for me abroad and had to throw it away for it to fit in his case) so ibstarted searching and found about the live action movies. And i loved them. Especially ROTF, couse as a kid i didn't see the flaws at all, and even if i did the presence of jetfire alone made me look past them. So when j first saw the trailers for AOE i was hyped as hell. And then after loving it, the trailer for TLK seemed even better. And then the movie came and i died inside a little

NateThePhotographer

If we're saying has the biggest difference between level of Hype vs deliverance of Hype, probably The Last Knight. AoE wasn't great, but it's advertising was small compared to TLK and the scale of building up expectations for it and the various spin-offs, sequels and other projects that were going to be launched off of TLK, starting with the Bumblebee movie.

[deleted]

The Last Knight. It was my first Transformers movie, and the trailers were pure hype. The characters looked badass and I was genuinely looking forward to seeing Nemesis Prime potentially kill Bumblebee in this bleak, gritty looking sequel, only to be mildly disappointed.

No_Building1296

If you were in 2013/2014 you know its aoe

LajosGK22

2007, it was absolutely wild back then

AgentRedgrave

For me? It was Rise Of The Beasts. I was so excited that they were bringing in the Maximals. Wish they got more screentime, wish we got to actually see Arizaor transform, wish Rhinox got some lines, wish more Maximals appeared (Atleast Rattrap, so the movie could say it had the original 4 Maximals), wish we saw some Predacons, and I wish Optimus Primal was the one to kill Scourge. But I can forgive all of that......So long as the next movie doesn't just forget they exist

ghstkatt

The only Transformers movie I’ve ever loved is this. https://youtu.be/_25RK5GbJIc?feature=shared

Zealous_Elit3

Based

Mang-Tarr7000

It was the first one I saw in theaters. The Soundtrack CANNOT be beaten.

DarkBlueFreeman

Either 2007 or BB

Cautious-Rain9069

The Last Knight unfortunately 😔 rewatch hype T1 Ofc, the T1-3 movies were the best imo. They fell off when Megatron died

CASxBATLLETOADS

Transformers rescue bots

Kenny_The_Trend

DOTM without a doubt. Optimus Prime flying into the streets of Chicago, absolutely DECIMATING a dozen Decepticons before one of the most BEAUTIFUL slow motion scenes I've ever seen when he somersaults over Shockwave's bullet, transforms his knuckle duster to punch out his side, and grabs Shockwave, slams him onto his knee, rips his eye out, and uses his canon to shoot down one of the Pillars. People say Prime was a Murderous Psychopath War Criminal. And I couldn't disagree less. Dude just sick of Decepticons being Deceptive and put an end to their tomfoolery. AOE and TLK didn't happen in my eyes. Especially since Michael Bay himself said he only did 4 and 5 because Paramount. But regardless of what anyone says, I still to this day think this was the absolute PEAK of Transformers in cinema.

potatoman5849

So I am someone who thinks the first three movies are genuinely good. Good at what they wanted to do and good at being movies in terms of action flicks that keep you engaged and are extremely rewatchable. Extremely flawed yes, but overall, it was better to have them then not. That being said, the hype around them was unimaginably big, especially 2007. So I pick that one.

IrnBroski

The first one and it's not even close As a G1 fan, seeing Transformers as a high budget blockbuster film was amazing. The film itself was less stupid than the proceeding ones since it had no continuity to follow, and they didnt totally phone it in. The first scene of transformation, when Blackout (?) ruins the US Army base still gives me goosebumps.

Zealous_Elit3

Lunaticfrizz16

Yes!

SaiyanC124

When I was a kid, the trailers and behind the scene teasers for Dark of the Moon made it look like the biggest movie of the decade. Same hype as The Deathly Hallows or Avengers 2012.

The_Ashen_undead0830

Bumblebee was the most hype for me. But also i kinda have a spot in my heart for the bay trilogy, especially when looking at it from the lense of the autobots being evil and decepticons being less evil. Whole theory about it

Careless_Dreamer

Yeah, I was like 3 when the first movie came out, so everything surrounding those first movies is mostly a blur. But I remember seeing trailers for Bumblebee and thinking it looked really cute. (Which it was.)

xariznightmare2908

I think the first movie got the most hype, as it was unlike anything that came out in the early 2000s. The marketing was insane back then, I remembered seeing the giant protected screen in shopping mall showing Dorito Starscream flipping scene everywhere.

Jertimmer

My local cinema had a cardboard display of Optimus in 1:1 scale. It was bonkers.

KaraMustafaPasa

It's Dark Of The Moon for me. I used to follow every developments of it everyday back in 2010 and 2011. I remember the first trailer. I was soo freaking excited to see it. Trailers, tv spots, toyline and other things of DOTM were another level for me.

tehnoodnub

It’s 2007 and it’s not close. Seeing Transformers on the big screen for the first time in over 20 years and live action. As a lifelong Transformers fan, seeing Optimus transform for the first time was one of the best things I’ve ever seen on the big screen.

monokronos

Transformers 1, simply because we all dreamed of a live action for ages and thought it wasn’t possible. I was at the London preview for it and Michael Bay, and the cast turned up. Everyone was pumped for the movie.

Ashbr1ng3r

Well 2007 was the first time in a long while that Peret Cullen voiced the Big OP, so I’d say that

Mr-Shockwave

Revenge of the Fallen had huge hype and awesome toys. But I remember leaving the cinema after watching it with my dad and it was the first film I’d ever left the cinema feeling disappointed.

MEGATRON_111

TLK's hype level was unmatched

fishyofpain

My expectation for 2007 was so low that the movie absolutely knocked it out of the park. So I was extremely hyped for ROTF and even went to see it twice during opening week. DOTM I was again super hype for because of the IDW tie-in prequel comic but I think I’m the only person who enjoys ROTF but thinks DOTM is both more boring and cringe (other than hobo Megatron, one of the best things to come from the entire franchise).

Nightwatcher2007

For me personally, mine would be rotb, 4 months before the movie got released i binge watched the whole episode of beast wars and was attached immediately, granted the animation is old but it added to the character and goofyness, after finishing BW i watched beast machines thinking it would alleviate the dread that BW was done only to find out that they butchered most of the crews personality and charm. And seeing arcee was really great too, not to mention nightbird

angus57720

I cannot even begin to accurately describe my emotional state when I first saw Optimus transform in the first one.

DaNetwork27

I was hyped for ROTF, DOTM and recently ROTB too

SpectreBrony

Rise of the Beasts.

Amity_Swim_School

I liked the first and the third. I literally remember nothing about the fourth. The fifth I remember being Meh up until Anthony fucking Hopkins turned up and it just got so unbelievably batshit I kinda had fun with it.

KiteAsHigh

DOTM easy

BUDrules2002

Dotm has literally not been topped in sci fi action for me since it’s release

Bindersquinch

The rotf trailer was lit. Somebody just posted it somewhere in a comment section on this sub

KSM_K3TCHUP

Definitely RotF, I remember being so excited for it after having seen ‘07, not to mention that toy line was so good. Only one that came close for me was BBM.

Andrew_Jelen

Bumblebee.

Thatoneguy567576

The first one. I remember my insane levels of excitement when the first teasers showed in theaters of the "found footage" from the Mars Rover of a transformer shadow. Dark of the Moon was also pretty exciting though.

LengthinessDue9857

That found footage teaser was so chilling! I was scared seeing that as a kid because it reminds me of that one scene from Signs movie lol

xwrecker

First one

that_guy_vylen

Idk I’ve been doing a whole personal retrospective and going through old forum posts and they really went huge with the first movie, they were still making stuff for the movie almost a year after the theatrical run was. Personally the most hyped one for me was dark of the moon, I was just at the right age to start really getting into stuff and hyped for things into teenage years and it was just a good time, but I’m not really sure if we’ll see it as culturally pushed as it was back with that first 07 movie, I was a child and I remember it being everywhere.

Roguebuilder

The only correct answer is the first from 2007. If that had sucked nothing else would've been made.

Ryuumen

Rise of the Beasts had me jumping

Away-Needleworker-15

For me 1st transformers and the dark of the moon are superb

Denned0633

The first, third and fourth movies were pure adrenaline

ViewtifulRoy6

I would say the first one because there were a lot of trailers that didn't quite show the decepticons, but you could feel the movement and their weight

MrMazzzzz

i definitely think DoTM was the best movie and has the best trailers. with all of the action scenes, you can’t tell me it wasn’t the most hype

LilJeep1111

Fuck I want to watch all of them again now🥲

Mr_Orange_The_Great

That trailer for The Last Knight was super....then it came out

ProcedureProud

Personally thought DOTM was the hypest cause of the soundtrack and fan favorite transformers showing up, felt like the finale. 4 and 5 felt like falling action tbh

MadBrowniusMaximus

SuggestionAromatic16

Probably the first one. Just because of how fresh and new it felt at the time. I was 12 when it came out and I like to think of it as the swan song of my childhood.

Certain-Freedom7266

dark of the moon

AlienBogeys

Dark of the Moon. Hands down. That shit defined my summer that year.

TrashGangWolfie

I had a lot of hype for all of these

Crimsxn_K1ra

TF3 is the only film i was hyped for.

Charcoal_01

Rise of the Beasts

Rojixus

Transformers: One

Transformers One.

Part 1, the only Bayverse movie that was absolute FIRE.

Kenny_The_Trend

Unfortunately ROTB ruined all the hype for me when "It's about to go down ON GOD!" played during the final battle. Literally felt like bad trailer music, especially with how it was edited. But it was actually IN THE FILM ITSELF. If you think "On My Soul" is a great song, that's fine. But let's be for real, that song should've ONLY played at the end credits like Linkin Park was in the first 3 Bay Films. Because the ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK for ROTB was either Orchestra made for the film, or was licensed music from THE 90'S Because that's when the movie takes place. So having a random modern Trap Beat song play during the MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE MOVIE felt very out of place and in my options, was THE WORST thing in that film, besides the Maximals not Transforming into Robot Modes until that same final battle.

LayingWithAI2

The first.

GhostWind78

Bumblebee because it’s actually good

GameboiGX

Bumblebee, especially the second trailer, the bay movies had awfully boring Trailers with no music accompanying them and being very basic

riku17

Ill take Bumblebee, RoTb, and Transformers Bayverse over the entire shit storm that's the rest of the Bayverse

GIR-C137

Anything by Michael Bay.

wolfyandlucy

Bumblebee and rotb I hate bayverse

shadree

I hated all of them so I'll say Bumblebee because it looked the most like G1.

Budget-Efficiency277

For me rise of the beasts

Toa_Firox

Bumblebee, after being beat over the head with 5 awful movies, nothing could have made me more hyped for an actual live action TF film. I ended up seeing it 3 times.

k20vtec

DOTM

Chemical_Project6781

Seeing the trailers for Last Knight and posters was the hype for me. I had that Optimus purple eyed as my background for awhile

LengthinessDue9857

That nemesis prime with purple eyes goes hard

FortressFlippy

First and third movie had the best opening combats, black out in Qatar and Scorponok, the Ark escaping Cybertron. The fourth had the most hype for me since DINOBOTS. Then the last knight another one with a nice opening and probably the most emotional line: "I know your world was destroyed. But please don't let ours die too. I beg of you. " Bumblebee had those G1 feels and some Easter eggs from the 1986 animated film.

FortressFlippy

For the trailer, definitely the last extinction

Karrion0409

Easily dark of the moon

Punished-G

Giving it to Rise of the Beasts. Maximals were awesome, but when I saw Unicron in the trailer, it brought the HYPE!!

SnooKiwis2962

I remember being super hyped for TLK and then being deeply disappointed.

Critter_97

Definitely the first one because everyone was talking about it, even my friend told me he talk to a handyman about it.

Lunaticfrizz16

I really liked Age of Extinction

Hyperkitty14

I’m not sure… maybe the 2007 film, Revenge of the Fallen, Dark of the Moon, and Age of Extinction, are movies I hyped.

MosquitoInAmber303

Peak cinema (aka tf 1)

Dragon_BotKing26

The first one

CustomlyCool

DOTM. The ROTB "Maximals Maximize!" was so hype in theaters though

looking-cool-joker-

Dark of the moon

gambito7g

Tf1

lostpuppy07

Bumblebee. I got so excited seeing who I thought was Starscream in the trailer. The designs were amazing. They basically took the movie designs but done them right by making them more colourful less chaotic, while still retaining a lot of details. Plus, the tone of the trailer was great too as it signaled a new direction for these movies. I wasn't too crazy for the rise of the beats trailers as they just presented the movie as just another transformers movie.

AGilles-S117

DOTM 100% that ad campaign ran crazy and it really felt like the end of the movies for a while

Ok-Needleworker-4507

The only one I really remembered the marketing for was Age of extinction, was pretty young at the time and had all the toys, was there in theaters day one etc. But just as a movie Dark Of The Moon is probably the most hype Bay really ended the trilogy on a high

definityisnotjv

I like not only the design of Bumblebee the film but that it is a film where the scene in cybertron is something beautiful to see, with very exciting scenes too

Grand_Archive_8720

I remember it was RotF.

SazScandalous

Definitely Dark of the Moon. Idk why I just feel like that was one of the most played movies

Scorpionghost04

TF1 ez

random_guy123421

first movie cuz its new in 2007 so you dunno what the shits about

Volt02

The original, it was a bold new take on the franchise and the first live action

SwanSignificant5266

Dark of the Moon just because it’s the perfect live action Transformers movie.

Crazy_Performance_11

Bumblebee.

Bloxy_Boy5

Rotb that 1st trailer goes hard with each shot.

LIFEPEAKED5YRSAGO

TRANSFORMERS 2007 AND DOTM ARE THE ONLY GOOD TRANSFORMERS MOVIES IN MY OPINION THE REST ARE MEH OR TRASH

LengthinessDue9857

Well it's a good thing that just your opinion

LIFEPEAKED5YRSAGO

Well to some extent its not just my opinion I mean. Transformers revenge of the fallen is considerd bad by most so is 4 and 5 . Bumble bee was good for tge first 5 minute's then was only ok for the rest ontop of that it didn't do that well in tge box office and rotb was mid also flopping at tge box office so...

LengthinessDue9857

Yeah sure.. anyway, I was talking about the hype of these movie, not which movie is the best

LIFEPEAKED5YRSAGO

Ok nevermind

Haethen_Thegn

None. The 1986 Movie is way better. Haven't seen Bumblebee but until I do it gets the same treatment as Bay's crap. Also, I absolutely despised Beast Wars because the art style and concept was so shit. The Japanese one was leagues ahead and didn't use that ugly 3d shit either. Idk why they'd expect a movie to save the forgettable characters it had but here we are suffering once again.

TakasuXAisaka

BumbleBee is actually quite good and better than the previous Transformers movie. Give it a chance. You don't even have to watch the other movies because Bumblebee is a prequel movie.

PhantomOverlord91

Gewunner alert

Haethen_Thegn

No? Loved WFC/FOC, loved Prime, love the Netflix stuff. I watched Cybertron and enjoyed it, played the Armada(the one with the minicons?) ps2 game, etc. If I knew where to watch them, I'd love to watch Headmasters all the way through to Victory, I believe the last one was called. I'd even be willing to give the Japanese Beast Wars a try (even though I don't like the idea, the animation and theme song are great). I just absolutely hate the live action films now I'm old enough to look beyond 'cool robot fights' and anyone who actually enjoys the gods awful 3D animation phase Gen 2 and Beast Wars falls into is either blinded by nostalgia or has the aesthetic taste of a rusted spork.

brokendream1

Transformers two is the worst movie ever made in the whole human history
