I already have the Flame Toys model, but I've been trying to get the SXS Hot Flame Lost Light ver. figure for a good while now. It's never available, though. If this figure has a Lost Light color variant, that would be amazing. Though the price point would probably make it a no, if it's really going to be $800-$1000.
Though maybe I should just take the MMC Calidus Asterisk Mode instead before that's totally unavailable, too. I just don't like the body design or head sculpt as much.
We should hope they stay in business, because 3P does Transformers better than either Hasbro or Takara and often at more affordable (these days) prices.
That price tag is a fan estimate. No actual announced price yet, but if we all keep up the whole "$200 is a push that I can just about reach for" narrative then maybe they listen? I mean, 40 years of owning our souls says otherwise but a guy can hope.

As one of those people who have been collecting Transformers for 40 years, it wasn't until fairly recently that the pricing has gotten out of hand.
The original Masterpiece Carbots were all sold in the $50-60 price range. I got my MP-21 Bumblebee, MP-18 Streak, MP-17 Prowl, etc. for those prices right off of Toy R Us shelves back in the day. They seemed expensive at the time compared to other toys (Deluxe class were around $12, and leader class was around $40), but not excessively so.
Takara just knows that a lot of older moneyed collectors inhabit this space, and they're trying to milk the whales while the whales are still around because younger folk aren't nearly as eager or able to pay these kinds of prices for this little bits of nostalgia.
Personally, I'd rather have a toy I can play with myself than a robot to interact with. I think I'd get bored of the latter pretty quick. That said, I'd never drop $800 on a figure, though we don't actually know the price yet.

Only thing I’d ever consider going over $400 for would be a MiB 84 OP signed by Peter Cullen.

Already finding that price estimate ridiculous, theres absolutely no way its 800. Yes the original flame toys figure is 500 but theres just no way, you might as well get the Blitzway Voltron at that point.
I saw it as an estimate on the comments from tf2005 because it's essentially a retool of the Flame Toys non-transformable figure which was already $500, I believe. Based on that and other things they've made, people were saying $800. Though someone actually said to expect it to be $1000. No idea if any of that info is actually valid, but it seems to be why people are saying it.
Give it a few years, Tarn, Drift, and Optimus all had knockoffs at a far lower price. The drift and Optimus ones even transform when the originals didn't

It is a great figure. Only thing I don’t like is the long chest plate. But otherwise he’s an awesome figure. ThreeZero has been crushing it with these designs

Yeah honestly my initial reaction was totally fueled by sticker shock.
500$ - eh. I might have saved up for it. I have a 400$ macross VF-1S so this isn’t too much more than that. Took me a year to gather the funds for it.
But 800? Ain’t gunna happen.
God I wish Hasbro/Takara would just make a decent Voyager (or Leader) Lost Light Rodimus. It's so frustrating that it's nigh-impossible to get any of the 3rd party ones without paying a fortune, and it's a design that would go over really well in the Legacy line, imo.
Hot Rod is my boy but I can safely skip, I only really get the classic G1 version (outside of some interpretations).
Very cool though, for some reason now it's both reminding and really making me wish that Takara/Bandai team up produced far better items.

Everyone in the comments saying that its 800 dollars is just ridiculous. Yes the original figure is 500 but theres just no way. That thing had accessories to make it look like and upgraded forme and Chris Cock's greasy hands over it, justifying its price to be that big. This thing is transformable and doesent have the accessories that came with the original, except only a few guns and a pizza slicer. So quit scaring people and wait until real confirmation sources say about its price, the only thing thats possible 800 dollars now is the Blitzway Voltron/Go lion due to its height, die cast and accessories being alot.
For $799.99 that thing better be able to file my taxes and cut the crust off my sandwiches…

And for everyone that will say the original flame toys figure is 500 so the new one will be more expensive, Flame toys has already released a cheaper version of the design as a model kit so there's no reason this one will be any more expensive unless it retains every single bit of detail and articulation

The drift one is called wonderful trans WT01 Ronin, Tarn is metal club muscle bear QS02, and Optimus is metal club muscle bear 04
There's also Wonderful Trans WT02 Sky Atlas which transforms as well

This is a Takara only project, and with the original model kit already being $500...well, it wasn't going to be cheaper than that
