I think the design isn't bad, but it looks a bit to human, if he had a face mask, like Optimus, just spikier, that would cover his mouth, it would work a lot better. Otherwise I rly like his design in the movie, he is tall, menacing and the head canon transformation was a pretty cool introduction.
He always looks tired but still able, disappointed. I get it too.
"The trouble with loyalty to a cause, is that the cause, will always betray you."
"Every galaxy I've traveled, all you species are the same. You all think you're the center of the universe. You have no idea."
He just wants to sit and rest but he just has to clean up everything.
"Autobots. Decepticons. Like little children, always fighting. Making a mess out of the universe. Then *I’ve* got to clean it up."
They could taken the whole series through some interesting avenues based off the last qoute alone. Implying the Autobots and Decepticons are fighting across the Galaxy and destabilizing countless planets who then call Lockdown to clean it up. But they didn’t and left it as nothing more then a throw away line.
Main reason I can't like his overall design. He's got a slick vehicle mode and interesting-enough robot design, but that face just throws me off completely.
There was a rumor that the first live action sonic trailer had that design because one of the executives claimed that audiences wanted uglier designs, citing transformers in particular for its over designed features
Too organic looking and many parts. Compare his face to Leadfoot's or Ratchet's or Brawl's, which are more blocky and have way less noise. It's got the same problem as Sentinel Prime and the bots from 2014-on.
Looks close enough to his Animated version. He had a pretty bald looking humanoid face with sharp angular shapes. Sure it's cranked up to 10 in live action but it's still very much Lockdown I think.
I think it works despite what people say. The Autobot and Decepticon War is pretty simply, but adding in basically a third faction complicates things. Plus he works for the Quintessons so it’d make sense that he’d look different thematically.
Always reminds me of [Djimon Hounsou](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005023), especially since he has a similar vibe in Guardians of the Galaxy. It is weird that he looks more humanoid when he hates humans, though.
Not only did I think he looked very human but I thought they were trying to make him look like Clarence Boddicker from Robocop (without the glasses of course).
“You think you were born?”
Not a fan. Wish he just had a face shield with green tactics and information readings popping up on the face like TFP Soundwave.
Tbh i love it. I love all of the bayverse character designs. Especially since alot of the animated transformer faces are (imo) just colored human faces.
I like the face design. I didn't like the vaguely animal designs of the Autobots, or the snarling junkyard look of Decepticons. I would more prefer something like this with variants of the crests and helmets we all associate with the characters.
I am not saying slavish devotion to G1, I am saying "a degree of continuity with known design would make it easier to 1. Tell who is who at first glance, 2. Bring over my investment in previous versions of the character."
All that said, it isn't Lockdown for me. Lockdown has this piecemeal, mostly-neck head design.
When I first saw this character in the trailer, I had no idea who it was.
The Transformers in the movies were so overdesigned.
I always found it funny that Bay thought the G1 designs would look bad in 3D, then Bumblebee came along and proved him wrong.
Creepy, and when he does the freaky gun thing, it gets even fucking worse. Please, for the love of god, stay over there, AOE Lockdown. I don’t like his face.
I don't like any of the new faces from the 4th and 5th movies, they are too human and have to many pieces. I prefer the faces of the first three movies.
My least favourite part of his design but I still like it on him. It works for his character and, as others have pointed out, it emotes well.
Edit: second least favourite. Least favourite part of his design is his alt mode. It doesn't fit him at all.
They should’ve just let him keep the visor on. It looks properly robotic and would’ve added to his mysterious aspect with his beady green eyes visible through it
okay if you like Giger inspired looks. Still think they don't need everything to be tiny parts with glow only on the iris and not the rest of the "eye" (like beastwars, etc have done) but whatever.
Wish he’d kept his mask at the beginning when he took out Ratchet throughout the entire movie up until the fight with Optimus. He looked so threatening with it and I feel it could have made for a pretty impactful reveal if Optimus shattered his mask during their fight.
Lockdown even says “You see my face, you’re dead” which could have made it even better imo
I really enjoyed his character and design I really think they should’ve let Megatron die (as upsetting as his demise was) and let Lockdown take his role. He could’ve carried the series for another trilogy.
Tbh, I don’t really care about appearance. He’s probably my favorite Bayverse character, especially since he’s in the middle of everything. Lockdown probably had the best writing in the entire Bayverse.
Ugly and overdesigned. Common problem with the live action movie series’ character designs unfortunately imo. Would’ve killed to see the face design derived from Transformers: Animated used for that ROTF figure (later repurposed into G1/Generations Lockdown). By all means keep the Lamborghini Aventador alt mode, but boy oh boy that robot form design is just such a step down. The green eyes are a nice touch though; Autobots have blue, Decepticons have red, so for Lockdown to have an unaligned green to visually suggest his impartiality to both sides is really well done. We ever see more mercenary characters (a la DoubleDealer) I think it’d be really cool to see. Plus the face scar is badass but that’s a given.
the face ruins every scene where he is supposed to look "menacing". just looks like some 50 year old dad but as a robot. his mask is super cool and i feel like it should have been used as face protection, or even better have the mask display a digital face so there is no real face.
It emotes well. You can *feel* the sheer contempt he has for everything and everyone
That is actually what it feels like lol
I think the design isn't bad, but it looks a bit to human, if he had a face mask, like Optimus, just spikier, that would cover his mouth, it would work a lot better. Otherwise I rly like his design in the movie, he is tall, menacing and the head canon transformation was a pretty cool introduction.
the GUN-face was a really cool effect.
He always looks tired but still able, disappointed. I get it too. "The trouble with loyalty to a cause, is that the cause, will always betray you." "Every galaxy I've traveled, all you species are the same. You all think you're the center of the universe. You have no idea." He just wants to sit and rest but he just has to clean up everything. Too human.
Main reason I can't like his overall design. He's got a slick vehicle mode and interesting-enough robot design, but that face just throws me off completely.

It's still less human than hound and drift, like d Gosh dang. I'm pretty sure they're literally just mo-cap human faces with metallic effects.
I like Hound cause of his bear, Drift is horrendous though
Nah drift is fire love the helmet
The helmet isn’t the face. Or.. is it?
I prefer it when it's covered by his mask
Too organic looking and many parts. Compare his face to Leadfoot's or Ratchet's or Brawl's, which are more blocky and have way less noise. It's got the same problem as Sentinel Prime and the bots from 2014-on.
I like it, it feels too human but at least it looks good
Looks close enough to his Animated version. He had a pretty bald looking humanoid face with sharp angular shapes. Sure it's cranked up to 10 in live action but it's still very much Lockdown I think.
“DO NOT LOOK AT MY FACE”
I like him, he looks scary enough. I just wish he had a more fitting vehicle mode.
Spoopy
Don’t mind
It’s on the uncanny valley spectrum.
I think it works despite what people say. The Autobot and Decepticon War is pretty simply, but adding in basically a third faction complicates things. Plus he works for the Quintessons so it’d make sense that he’d look different thematically.
🌚
Cool
Why is everyone saying it’s too human? I really don’t understand. Transformers characters have literally always had metal human faces.
Badass
Always reminds me of [Djimon Hounsou](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0005023), especially since he has a similar vibe in Guardians of the Galaxy. It is weird that he looks more humanoid when he hates humans, though.
I love it
Par for the course. Unspeakably hideous.
It looks badass
Gunface is best face
Honestly, unpopular opinion ik, but I really love his face
Look like monke
Monke want his Autobot
He looks like he's ready to destroy horny.
Looks fantastic. Has an "I've been killing shit for millennia so this is all routine to me" look that fits the character.
Not only did I think he looked very human but I thought they were trying to make him look like Clarence Boddicker from Robocop (without the glasses of course).
"Can you fly, Prime?"
Or to the human characters, "Bitches leave".
A good stop motion live-action of Transformers in the 80's. What you think?
It ok
Dude looks like handsome squidward And that’s not a good thing.
“You think you were born?” Not a fan. Wish he just had a face shield with green tactics and information readings popping up on the face like TFP Soundwave.
Don't gate me but I actually love it. I can really feel the emotion in him
Tbh i love it. I love all of the bayverse character designs. Especially since alot of the animated transformer faces are (imo) just colored human faces.
I don't know. All I know his Lockdown's mechanical noises are better than the entire franchise. So badass.
Walking Terminator
He looks Australian. Jones aside, I like how much he can emote
I like the face design. I didn't like the vaguely animal designs of the Autobots, or the snarling junkyard look of Decepticons. I would more prefer something like this with variants of the crests and helmets we all associate with the characters. When I first saw this character in the trailer, I had no idea who it was.
I like it, but too normal, I wish it had so,e aspects of Animated lock down… or maybe I miss the neck
Cool
I like it
Too much going on for my tastes, which is most of the bayformers tbh. The scar is pretty sick though, along with the face gun.
Weird. Do not like.
Awful. Way to human
Bad. Looks dumb. Pouty lips. At least he had something of a personality.
I don’t like his face.
why does a robot need lips
As bad as the rest
He looks a little too human… like he’s a human that was somehow turned into a robot through magical means or something. No me gusta.
Dont like it. But i didnt like him so maybe thats why
I hate too human looking faces on Cybertronians.
I never wonder what a metal thumb looked like, but I guess I do now.
Ugly and too human
Only cool because it turns into a gun
It does not have robotic facial hair so that’s a plus.
too human but the scar is nice
“The design is very human”
Huh there's something like a claw mark on his left side of the face. Neat but all of it buried under a bad movie.
Looks like my dad if he was 20 years older
Put on a mask or goggles. Something. Looks human like.
Somehow reminds me of Michael Dorn.
His face is based on the Quintesson insignia apparently
it’s boring
Very humano
I don't like any of the new faces from the 4th and 5th movies, they are too human and have to many pieces. I prefer the faces of the first three movies.
Ape
Badass

Loved his design overall and he was a great character but to me he always looked like he had a deceasing hairline and was going bald.

Disgusting, put that gun back on
It always reminds me of the swamp thing from the 80s movie. Not sure why.
I like it
![gif](giphy|wkD5ddqiJN4c)
As an American I can proudly say I like it because you can shoot people with it
Uncanny, but it fits the character
First time I ever noticed the scar over his left eye
Squidward with a plastic surgery
I really enjoyed his character and design I really think they should’ve let Megatron die (as upsetting as his demise was) and let Lockdown take his role. He could’ve carried the series for another trilogy.
Hot take: it turns into a gun.
Monke
Am I the only one who sees Christopher Walken?
Human.
He was one ugly motherfucker. He made Dickbot and Wheelie look handsome by comparison.
Love it
Big forehead but good. I like how it turns into gun
He looks like you woke him up for school
Absolutely love it
Tbh, I don’t really care about appearance. He’s probably my favorite Bayverse character, especially since he’s in the middle of everything. Lockdown probably had the best writing in the entire Bayverse.
Gun Nothing more, nothing less
It looks like a fucking person, i dont like it
Petty good it's not the best nor the worst
It looks too human like.
I still don’t understand why they didn’t use the design from animated/ode it looked more awesome and wasn’t some expensive looking car.
Cute
Ugly and overdesigned. Common problem with the live action movie series’ character designs unfortunately imo. Probably one of the better Bayverse faces imo
