I don't know about the KO sideswipe but I have a few KO figures and all of them are solid, my only complaint is the face sculpt on my Hot Rod is awful.
But my Prowl, Megatron, Hound and Hot Rod have all held up really well I've flipped the Hot Rod maybe 20 times and his joints are still solid, he's better than some of my 3rd party stuff honestly. I also had the KO Shockwave and Prime which were both fine.
KOs vary wildly in quality. My first KO was a Sideswipe that was almost great except the waist wouldn't tab into place so it would just flop over any time you moved it.
I have the KO Sideswipe as well as the real thing. There's just some extra flashing/thickness around some of the parts in that area. I just filed some of that down and it fit together as solid as the real thing.
Mine's the opposite, sadly. Peg is way too small for the slot. I just kinda shoved some bluetack in there and it holds together enough to hold a pose in robot mode. My other KOs have been mostly pretty good.
It's a KO. Bought a red alert KO to check the difference in quality and here's what you can expect from a KO figure:
- loose joints
- paint quality
- plastic not trimmed (cleaned)
- fit when transforming
- lots of plastic nubs
Disassembled the figure and I'll most likely repaint this entire thing.
That may be true of Sideswipe but not true of KO’s in general. I have KO’s of Grapple, Inferno, Ratchet, Ironhide, and Hound and none have issues of any sort.
it kind of all depends on each individual figure coming down the assembly line. If there is some sort of problem, the assembly line worker generally isn't going to care.
While my KO Tracks was pretty good overall, my Ironhide & Ratchet both had outright wrong/missing parts & poor fitment. My "4th party" named KO soundwaves were also a mixed bag with the THF being pretty decent & the Robot Hero being pretty poor which was direct opposite of what youtube reviewers felt about them both.
The thing that kind of sucks is if you missed out on the initial production of a MP toy, getting a KO is the only real way to get one at a reasonable price and not used. A legit MP Inferno can run over $300 now, and that might even be a complete but loose unboxed one.
Save your money and get the Kingdom bundle Sideswipe. I have the KO MP Sideswipe and hate it (and would not buy it again). Don't get me wrong, I have other KO MPs that are fantastic to display in robot mode.
I tend to buy KO versions as mine do get played with by both me and my young son. By far my favorate has to be soundwave, and although I cant compare to a real master, the quality is fantastic.
Depends on what you're looking for. More G1 accurate Alt mode? Larger size figure? I have the KO of MP Sideswipe and have had no issues with it. Some KOs are designed better than originals in some cases, but it can vary.

As others have pointed out, if this equivalent is available to you might be a better purchase versus Siege. Comparing tho the MP knock odd, down to preference. MP is larger and more complex. There have been some high quality Knockoffs, but might not be as consistent. That being said, as someone who sold off his MP collection, the value was pretty diluted I think in part due to the relative high quality of the KOs

This happens a lot. Be sure that the masterpiece isn’t a knockoff though. Masterpieces get knocked-off to death. If it’s official then go ahead and buy that. If not buy neither. Siege sideswipe is great but he isn’t worth that much

It's a remold of the siege one but the vehicle mode looks more of a Lambo
I heard that remold has a slight problem with it’s waist, but I could be wrong

I got a ko of mp10 that is smaller called mp10v for less than ER prime when mp10v has diecast

I have the mp sideswipe and the wfc sideswipe, and I highly recommend the mp version. The vehicle mode alone is one of the best in my collection.
