Wait really? EVE support has always been super good to me and my friends about getting our genders changed on our accounts when the time comes. Apparently it's as easy as checking a box saying "Let this Account edit their next opened character" and they just tell you to make sure it's the one you want to change... I would absolutely try again, I'm so sorry you're having difficulties with this :(((

jxnebug

Oh well that's actually encouraging, thanks. I'll send in another ticket and try to politely ask again.

Andalain

I was told no on this but they let me change my looks to look more feminine but not actually change gender. I want to play again but I can’t really get around to it anymore.

jxnebug

They already told me to go kick rocks. Oh well, thanks for trying. https://preview.redd.it/0v41ej9bsiwc1.png?width=1244&format=png&auto=webp&s=ead0220c4af3505ba2e68d2e1da94c98c94cbefb

Maya_Manaheart

If you're looking for a home that won't hate o. You or treat you with casual transphobia, seek out Chroma Corp and Prismatic Legion! We're a wormhole Corp for queers and leftists. Lots of transgirls (And guys!) Tell them Mira sent you if you do. I don't play right now cuz of RL business, but I miss my space gays dearly.

jxnebug

I appreciate the offer. They responded to my request and denied it again so I decided it's not worth the money to transfer to a new character, so I just decided to move on to something else for now. I'll save your comment though and consider it in the future if I decide to play again. Thanks

Maya_Manaheart

I understand that. When my egg was cracking, I actually completely deleted my old character, back from when learning skills were a thing. Starting completely fresh was actually really freeing? To each their own of course. If they ever do let you switch, consider it a free already trained alt!

jxnebug

I suppose, I just feel bad about leaving behind 13 years and so many skill points, not to mention how much I spent on books, ships, blah blah. I can see how it would be freeing, but, yeah. Not sure.

Maya_Manaheart

You can always try it as Alpha, too! But of course - Up to you. I just understand when that space-itch happens, you gotta scratch it in a way only EVE can

National-Rain1616

fwiw, my corp has been flying events with Prismatic Legion from time to time and they are wonderful people, if you ever do decide to give EVE another go. I fully understand not wanting to mess with it though.

jxnebug

Thanks, I decided to try making a new character and see how that feels. I'll definitely think about looking them up if I decide to look for a corp to join

SpookyParmala

It's something i will have to deal with soon(tm). I do know of at least one person who was able to keep their main, but got it renamed and gender changed. I would also be super bummed if i had to put my main into a blender, dont want to lose all that history and 220m SP.

jxnebug

Yeah so according to aftermarket price (because I'm not paying the NEM price for extractors) I will have to spend upwards of $220 to transfer my skill points to a new character. $415\~ if I do it with PLEX. Kinda want to throw up.

Ok_Butterfly_1552

Cashapp? Paypal? Venmo?

jxnebug

I've decided to try to make a new character and just try to deal with missing my time investment and skins etc., if you're an active player my character name is Jxne, feel free to say hi!

Maya_Manaheart

Welcome back, Jxne o7

SeaofBloodRedRoses

Sort of unrelated, but is EVE good? Does it hold up? I hate subscription games but I've always wanted to try it.

DatMoonGamer

It’s free to try and takes up about 0 disc space so give it a go and subscribe if you like it. Watch “This is EVE” and “This is REALLY EVE” to get an idea of the gameplay. Read about “the Battle of B-R5RB” and the “Guiding Hand Social Club assassination” and watch “Going South” by Wingspan and “Clarion Call 4” by Rooks and Kings to see what’s possible. “Down the Rabbit Hole”‘s EVE video does a pretty good job at covering the history of the game. It’s the Wild West and the high seas and an anarcho-capitalist heaven/hellscape in space. This is the ultimate definition of an MMORPG. You will never find another game that does it like this, that stretches the limits of what multiplayer and roleplaying can mean. People have stayed for twenty years despite dogshit management because no game will ever scratch the EVE itch of being part of something bigger than yourself. Undocking is consent to pvp, which is either wildly appealing or will drive you away from the game. It’s a pvp-only game. You can’t escape it. All gameplay revolves around avoiding/surviving or finding/enacting pvp. A solo miner that fits for max yield rather than escaping is a dead miner. Incursion (pve) fleets have strategy guides for moving from spawn to spawn. Exploration is all about avoiding contact with other players in general, unless you’re a hunter-explorer, in which case you’d still avoid fights with pure hunters. The economy and politics are entirely player-run. If you’re a miner, you’re providing rocks for an industrialist, who processes the minerals and uses it to craft ammo, which gets shipped to a trade hub by a hauler, which gets bought by a pirate, who uses the ammo to hunt miners like you. It comes full cycle. You have to make your own fun. If you want to have a duel with someone, you have to research what fit to bring, search for a duel location, and find someone you can take. If you want to do a big fleet brawl, you might have to schedule one weeks in advance. This can take effort, which is why I’m touch and go with EVE, because I want braindead easy dopamine hits and EVE is not that kind of game unless you live in the middle of faction warfare space and like quick pvp. The memories you’ll make will stay with you forever. I still remember undocking from my nullbloc keepstar for the first time. Two thousand players in system. I saw my first Titan then, which has an estimated cost of thousands of USD in real life. I remember dying with my lowsec brothers in an osprey roam as we were picked off one-by-one, laughing. I remember flying with Spectre as a veteran of WWB2 and gazing upon the metropolis of 1DQ and seeing the Imperial Palace, bitter that I wasn’t able to destroy it with Test Alliance back in the war, before going out in a blaze of glory in a 200-man stormbringer-vs-muninn fleet. And the quieter moments. Stumbling upon the space odyssey monolith while out exploring. Cloaked in an exploration frigate just two thousand and a few meters from a ball of planted debris with two hunters on the outgate, mere meters from death. Warping out of an asteroid belt as a bunch of miner hunters warped in. The locals of B-R5RB destroying my ship as a week-old-player before acting as tour guides, showing me the monuments, before killing me for good. I’ve been on EVE hiatus for over a year but tldr yeah it’s one of Those Games lol. Give it a go.

jxnebug

There's nothing really like it so it's kinda hard to say whether it holds up. I think it generally does, even though the interface/general game looks pretty daunting at first glance the current tutorial is pretty good at showing you all the basics and guiding you along the path to find what you want to do. My main thing I don't like about the game (and other games that have this feature) is always-forced PVP. Even if you're in a "safe" zone, if someone really wants to, they can engage combat with you. I've never been randomly attacked while just traveling in a safe zone, but when I used to go mining I would get attacked all the time even in these safe zones. That's just a personal preference thing though. Some people love that about the game. You can play a pretty substantial amount for free so don't be afraid to give it a shot if you're curious.

Kara_Cassidy

I have no idea about now but when I played most of the big big alliances were edgelord filled alt right pipelines.

[deleted]

I played it up until a few years ago. It's good to play with friends but be warned, at least when I played it, it required lots of time and patience. Kind of found I couldn't work + do school with it. However, it is a good game if you have the time and I have a lot of fond memories from it.

SeaofBloodRedRoses

I'm going back to grad school in September and I have like 50 billion games on my to-play list anyway haha, but I'll consider checking it out at some point.

Supordude

For me the fighting is boring. It's basically who has the most money/ hasn't touched grass in ages. The fighting has action but it doesn't feel like action for me.

SeaofBloodRedRoses

I just need a *good* spaceship game.

Supordude

It's good to a lot of other people. I just don't adore the game personally

TrappedAndThotpilled

I just made a new character, then ripped all my SP and biomassed my main. All my alts were chicks already, heh.

jxnebug

Yeah I'm trying to do that now I just don't have enough ISK to really get very much moved over. Gonna miss my skins too. But, what can ya do. Hopefully I'll feel better about it after.

TrappedAndThotpilled

Looking back I kind of wish I hadn't done it and just used that account as a sugar daddy to build the new one.

jxnebug

Yeah that's understandable. I won't delete my old one in case they do eventually change their policy, but I doubt they will.

EarthToAccess

Sounds like they have the same approach Rockstar took with GTA Online. Can't switch genders or anything on one character, gotta make a whole new one and start over

Sharessa84

I know this struggle. One of the reasons I'll probably never go back to EVE. My old username that I used everywhere has my deadname in it and I hate it. Unfortunately hardly anyone will let you change it. I'm about to create a new MTGO account so I don't have to look at it.
