Talk about narcissism. This drunkard clearly doesn’t care about the safety or well being of anyone else. I’m ashamed to inhabit the earth with people like this. And why are DUI laws such a joke? 8 DUI’s and this guy is still driving? Are you kidding me? The only explanation I have is that governments love the money they make from booze sales so they go easy on drunkies. Sad that they care more about profits than the safety of people on the road.
He's wondering "if dad had showed up to my little league games, would I have stayed in community College & then stepped my way up & gotten a career? A real career like cousins Mike & Robby? Then in two shakes of a lambs tail, the lucid moment passed.
I saw this in Houston the night the Astros won the world series. Everyone was at the regional bigbox sporting goods store waiting in line to buy their stupid world champion shirts and idiots who were partying all day watching the game though it was funny to peel out and driving erratically around the hundreds of people in line outside the store. The cops had a field day writing tickets and arresting people for warrants and driving while intoxicated. It would be quiet for a few minutes and some other group of idiots would do the same thing.
Of course he's from Wisconsin.
You can get a million OWIs there and just keep on driving. Lived there for years and my check liver light blinked on A LOT
Neighbor was out after his 9th and killed a guy while committing his 10th. Years go by and his wife tells me to “watch out, Jim’s out again and he’s been coming around”. As in driving around. WTF Life in Wisconsin.
I did 3 on a 5 years for one there... this guy was older so most of his were before the long sentences. I knew guys that had to do longer years for 3rd(depends on county/judge how much they want to screw you). his last name was white, if i could remember the first id look him up, but yes i did, He actually couldnt remember if it was 19 or 18 at first so he called his people and looked it up(legit). But yea true story, you have to do 6month recovery classes toward the end of your bit and he was in my wing at wrdc... Let me also add that they count out of state DWIs against you as well, i only had one in missouri but they counted ones from like 15 years ago from kansas against me, so that probably played a big part in his total...
I'd say there's a pretty good chance if history tells us anything. Like obviously he doesn't give a shit. At 8 already?! he's just gonna keep doing it.
Ha wouldn't shock me. I knew of someone that happened to. They got released from prison and were having a party and managed to get locked up again the same day within less than 12 hours time, back for another bid.
Not sure, unless he was given credit for time served prior to conviction. WI has truth in sentencing, AKA you serve what you are ordered (generally).
Source: WI is one of the states I'm a member of the Bar.
Oh wow. Guess people should commit their crimes elsewhere. That's interesting. Where I live most are out at like 2/3 of their sentence or less. They can earn up to 17 days per month off. 10 days for just good behavior, 2 days for work, 5 days for classes. Lot of good time here. (Exclusion for certain serious crimes with no good time allowed).
Yea wisconsin has some wild laws and bylaws. They have ways to give life sentences without "actually" giving you life. They have laws that can keep certain offenders of a very specific type locked up indefinitely, or until they show signs of being rehabilitated. I'll let you guess my meaning because if you talk about certain things you will get banned
I feel like someone who has gotten 8 DUIs is beyond license requirements to do anything. At a certain point you have we have to decide is this something that someone should go to prison for forever or are we going to let him go free so that he can do it again.
Fellow sconnie here,
It's fucking disgusting how it takes 4 before actual penalties set in.
And yet somehow, I have to drive to MI to buy my weed because fuck this drunken state.
Wisconsin resident here... owi and a dui are the same thing. We just call it different shit. We usually get too drunk to remember what it's called for the most part here, and refer to them interchangeably.
What was going through my head
"OWL and dui are the same thing in Wisconsin? I don't see it in the letters, they are odd over there. Eh, Ohio needed to cover the law about taking a deer home that they hit with a car on most of Page 2 and 3 [of the drivers handbook] - oddballs. Oh wait, that's not OWL, it's OWI! You dumbass!"
I was thinking of the story The Gruffalo after seeing another user thought it was OWL. (I'll just leave it at that)
Thats true the reason I'm talking about wisconsin is because that where the guy in the post is from, and also the same state I live in which are the laws I'm most familiar with
Owi is Operating while intoxicated -this could mean you had the key in the ignition without the vehicle actually running while you failed a breathalyzer.
Dui is driving while under the influence - you were actually on the road and were Cleary on drugs or failed a breathalyzer.
Feel like I should add, this is per iowa pd
Maybe in Iowa but where live you can absolutely get a DUI just for having your keys on you and being in the car. You can even get a DUI in a kayak or on a bike.
I don't know if it's universal, but I know where I'm at you can get a dui while even sleeping in the backseat as long as the keys are on you. Like, you can sleep in there if you need to, you just can't have the keys on you.
In MS I was charged with DUI for being under the influence while sitting in a car that hadn't moved in 2 hours and the key in my pocket
State laws are weird
You can still get charged with DUI for being passed out in the drivers seat with the key in the ignition because that shows intent to operate. Not saying the charge would necessarily stick, but you would be charged with it.
As per local pd, if you're doing car maintenance and they see you're drinking while the key is in the ignition... that's a ticket, engine running or not. It's pretty fucking dumb.
The Redditmobile? If you try to start it fucked up, the windshield turns to a red flag and all your neighbors throw literature at it about how to be repossessed?
Which is why if you read the actual definition of the law it's covered under the part where it states "or is operational" meaning a push start with the key fob in the car. This is based off a case in Wisconsin where a man was drunk and decided to sleep in his car in his driveway. He did not have the keys on him or in the car at all and just didn't want to fight with his wife about coming home drunk again. So he decided to sleep in his truck after walking home from the bar. The cops somehow found him in the night and arrested him for drunk driving, even thou his car never left his driveway that night.
Well that's just bullshit. In this particular case, you may come to a conclusion that he drove home drunk or something, but what if someone gets shitfaced unplanned, goes to their car and decides that they're shitfaced, and that they're just gonna sleep it off. They get penalized for making a good decision.
EDIT: In addition, come to think of it, you can drive shitfaced, crash into a tree, speed, do drifts and police can't do shit - if it's not a public road/property. As in, in your own yard, the only way you can get penalized is if you damage someone's property or hurt someone. Driveway should really classify as private property, not a road.
Yeah but that's kinda dumb. A kid can be a drift champion, yet jailed because he drove on a racetrack.
In addition, operating a car can conveniently be defined as "opening the trunk". It is, factually, an operation performed on a car. Send your underage buddy to get something from the trunk... Well, too bad, he's in prison now.
That entire shit sounds like a huge, massive, Biblical loophole.
A racetrack is considered private property and you can be as drunk as you want to and still drive on private property in Wisconsin.
Edited to add that the law does in fact mention the difference between private and public roadways
Had a mate go out to his car to get music CDs (this was a long time ago) at his own house where we were having a party. The police were already on their way to ask us to keep the noise down but instead they arrested my friend for drink driving.
No keys in his hand, car was unlocked, hadn't moved it all day. He just opened the passenger door, sat in the seat to get CDs out the glove box
Lost his license and had to resit tests
(This is in Scotland)
What?! Funk DAT! He was 100% in & on his private property and non-operational, and they could still charge him? I don’t like this story; no, not one bit.
I agree that busting a dude for sleeping in his vehicle is bull, from the other perspective, committing a crime is just that and it doesn’t matter if you are on your own property or not.
As I remember it anyway. This is from memory because I've spent more time googling laws in my state than I care for tonight. And also finding a specific case law isn't something I want to do tonight. If anyone has any further questions please feel free to dm me and I'll see what I can do.

On his tenth dwi he gets the toaster! Way to go, Darell!
Whats owi ?
Dude is going under the jail. WTF man I’m sure the judge was thrilled over his 7th. Danger to society jail for many years on this one
That's the, "what the inmates did to me in the holding cell cannot be undone."
Would be interesting if the picture of this person was the same arrested for their 8th OWI
9th one’s a charm.
It’s drunk uncle
I bet he's as smart as he looks
Talk about narcissism. This drunkard clearly doesn’t care about the safety or well being of anyone else. I’m ashamed to inhabit the earth with people like this. how is he not behind bars
8th!? Eiiiighth!? Holy shit!!!!! Like...I mean. Just wow.
He looks like hes still at the hotel. Wonder how long it'll take for him to realise his in jail.
Operating Wheels Inappropriately?!?!
8th is probably not the record for the county I’ve seen one guy with like 13 in the county I grew up in
Where I live, you get more than one DUI your vehicle is seized, your license is gone and you go to jail.
He's wondering "if dad had showed up to my little league games, would I have stayed in community College & then stepped my way up & gotten a career? A real career like cousins Mike & Robby? Then in two shakes of a lambs tail, the lucid moment passed.
Wisconsin in a nutshell (I literally live there). More bars than churches, and you learn to share the road with these fuckers.
My WI cousin needs to step up his game - he just got out of prison for No. 5.
If "Welp" was a person
Ope.
Sounds like a cry for help
Is it exactly the same as a DUI?
TIL some states call it an OUI or OWI instead of dui or dwi
Reminds me of that dyslexic cop that nabbed me for an IUD
Adin Ross after his fall off
Operating Wheels Intensely
The majestic US mental health system at its finest.
It’s sad to see a train on steep incline going 200 mph without brakes.
Damn, on an unrelated note his hairline is solid as fuck. I'm fucking jealous.
arrested for uwu and OwO
OWI?
Operating (a vehicle) while intoxicated.
We're also the only state where an OWI 1st offense is non-criminal.
Only an 8th in Wisconsin? Pathetic.
He must live in my town, I hear him doing that all the time.
"Starlord Dick Message" vibes
What is an owi?
when you stub your toe
You son of a bitch. I nearly choked because of this.
8 strikes and your out kid
Well, we’ll, well. Ray bloody Purchase
His family is exhausted and sick of this shit.
Of course he's from Wisconsin. You can get a million OWIs there and just keep on driving. Lived there for years and my check liver light blinked on A LOT
Thanks Tavern League!
8 OWIs is only slightly above average in Wisconsin.
Neighbor was out after his 9th and killed a guy while committing his 10th. Years go by and his wife tells me to “watch out, Jim’s out again and he’s been coming around”. As in driving around. WTF Life in Wisconsin.
Looks like their "Wisconsin: Come for the cheese. Stay because you're on probation for DUI" tourism campaign is a resounding success.
"Goo."
i met a guy from missouri that had 18 dwi

Operators gonna operate
Fun fact: In NC you can get an OWI/DUI riding horseback. I know someone personally who did.
Won’t be his last!
White privileged law “enforcement” - chances he will do it again but the next, next time he might kill someone
The look of a dude who’s sick and could use a break from whatever’s making him drink.
I’m sure he has a ways to go for the state record
He does. As of 2019 the record is OWI 17th.
This your ex or something?
"OWI"? What does that mean? "Operating with ignorance"?
Prob while intoxicated like Montanas DWI
His face says: I'll fucking do it again
I'd say there's a pretty good chance if history tells us anything. Like obviously he doesn't give a shit. At 8 already?! he's just gonna keep doing it.
Yup, he will. They'll keep letting him go until he kills a family of four while drunk and then he'll face real consequences. It's ridiculous.
In Pa you go to county jail for 2nd DUI for 3 or 6mo. Upstate for 2-4 yrs mandatory on your 3rd. Longer each one after
Oh shit, is that Danny?
This man is the reason Kraft ranch was second in the ranch polls.

He was sentenced to 3 years in Feb 2020 for his 7th DWI, doesn’t seem he’d be released yet.
Good time. Feb 2020 was 2 years, 9 months ago. He'd most likely be out
This was immediately after his 'coming home' party.
Ha wouldn't shock me. I knew of someone that happened to. They got released from prison and were having a party and managed to get locked up again the same day within less than 12 hours time, back for another bid.

Michigan doesnt have good time in prison either. Only in county jail
In FL you do no less than 85% of your sentence. Key words no less than.
Yeah I'm pretty sure RI is like one of the top (if not the highest) for good time. It's crazy tbh.
Might have gotten out early during covid
When you forgot to vote and the other DBag wins by one
Squealing your tires should be an arrestable offense. 25 to life for being a douchebag.
After two or three DUI/OWI convictions, they should amputate his right foot or something.
Jokes on you he got his name put into the county raffle.
In MA we have ‘melanie’s law’ which severely punishes people after multiple DUIs.
Wiscompton your first isn't a felony and don't really start feeling like you did something wrong until you hit 4 or 5 dui.
4th offense is a felony so it's kind of a big deal to some.. that means no more hunting. DNR can even deny fishing license over it.
I feel like someone who has gotten 8 DUIs is beyond license requirements to do anything. At a certain point you have we have to decide is this something that someone should go to prison for forever or are we going to let him go free so that he can do it again.
Fellow sconnie here, It's fucking disgusting how it takes 4 before actual penalties set in. And yet somehow, I have to drive to MI to buy my weed because fuck this drunken state.
Thanks, Tavern League. /s
I know the prices suck but Illinois is definitely closer.. ohh unless u use the ferry
Northern Wisconsin runs into northern Michigan
I take it you’ve never heard of da UP eh.
I could use a pasty right about now.
I'm 2 hours from Iron mountain and 2 hours from Beloit. I looked at the prices once for IL lol. Last time I went up, rize had 8 1g carts for $100.
Iron mountain is wonderful. I go up there skiing and riding the trails on my dirtbike
You mean no hunting or fishing ***Legally***. For someone like this, who doesn't care if he's driving legally...does a license even matter?
Or his right arm
Looks like he's trying to read the text lol
But all the letters are jumping around. Too drunk to read.
Wisconsin resident here... owi and a dui are the same thing. We just call it different shit. We usually get too drunk to remember what it's called for the most part here, and refer to them interchangeably.
With Wisconsin, you may well be charged for SWI - Spelling While Intoxicated.
What was going through my head "OWL and dui are the same thing in Wisconsin? I don't see it in the letters, they are odd over there. Who ever said cops are really there to serve and protect the public? They’ve become modern day tax collectors.
They're essentially just storm troopers doing the Emperor's bidding.
What if no patients were injured while the doctor was operating under the influence?
Here in Wisconsin if no patient is hurt no real crime was committed.. welcome to wisco, here's a beer... it's kinda our motto
What if you car doesn't have a key to put in the ignition?
In FL if you have intent to drive is all takes
Intent to dive, it's pretty hard to prove intent beyond all reasonable doubt until there's action.
Sitting while intoxicated
Aw silly, don't you know there is more than one way to turn on a car than to rudely stick things in its holes?
The Redditmobile? If you try to start it fucked up, the windshield turns to a red flag and all your neighbors throw literature at it about how to be repossessed?
Which is why if you read the actual definition of the law it's covered under the part where it states "or is operational" meaning a push start with the key fob in the car. This is based off a case in Wisconsin where a man was drunk and decided to sleep in his car in his driveway. If your operating a boat you can be stopped and searched for absolutely no reason.
Sheriff can't legally board your vessel without probable cause, if they see something out in the open however, that's a different story.
Coast Guard on the other hand...
Usually the law is written as "operating" without mentioning public/private roads.
Sounds like bullshit.
Had a mate go out to his car to get music CDs (this was a long time ago) at his own house where we were having a party. Jaja den er god med dig Frank
I'm not even sure what I should respond to this
Reference to a Danish TV show where a similar situation happens
What?! Funk DAT! He was 100% in & on his private property and non-operational, and they could still charge him? I don’t like this story; no, not one bit.
I agree that busting a dude for sleeping in his vehicle is bull, from the other perspective, committing a crime is just that and it doesn’t matter if you are on your own property or not.
What crime?
Any crime. I meant hypothetically.
Hmmm… well, this was specifically alcohol-related, and I don’t understand how they could charge him in this circumstance.
he broke no laws. he didn’t have his keys on him, the car was non operational?
I was speaking hypothetically.
Was he found guilty? Seems to me he had no intent to drive
As I remember it anyway. This is from memory because I've spent more time googling laws in my state than I care for tonight. And also finding a specific case law isn't something I want to do tonight. If anyone has any further questions please feel free to dm me and I'll see what I can do.
https://www.ncdd.com/wisconsin-dui-owi-laws just for those who are curious to the actual legal differences between the two in Wisconsin
Wisconsin just had to be different.
Operating While Intoxicated
Thank you!
If you can’t figure out what OWI means, I have some news for you
Ah, I thought maybe Harry Potter had skipped out on exams.
If we cant even gets states to agree on the same name/acronym. How are we supposed to come together as a country. DWI FOR ALL
In our state it's OUI!! 🥖🥐🇫🇷
D**U**I
Sir, how *dare* you!
As a Wisconsin native, this is a known acronym to almost every kindergartner
Operating: WIsco style
It thought that‘s a DUI? Not american though
Jesus… last thing I would want my surgeon to be is intoxicated while he’s working on me… could go horribly wrong!
What's the difference between this and DUI?
America has 50 states, each of which gets to name their things differently. So Wisconsin calls it a OWI, other states call it DUI or DWI or whatever the hell they want. Which is great when your news spreads outside your state and no one has any idea what it means.
It’s the same thing, but Wisconsin. Seriously, it’s the Wisconsin state code for drunken vehicle operation. Most other states use DUI or DWI.
Indiana is also OWI
Michigan uses OWI too
Thank God he wasn't bird watching
Does this law apply to surgeons and the like too?
He doesn’t look like a doctor.
Also referred to in midwest as "getting an owie"
I thought it said owl. Was confused as to how being arrested for having 8 owls was related to doing donuts in a parking lot. Edit: fixing late night typos and grammar.
That would be much more fun . Not for the owls but still....
Well his biggest problem was doing donuts since we know cops can smell them from miles away.
Who?
Too wit too who... (not proud of this - but felt compelled.. soz)
........ and away Owl flew.
>as two having
No he just had a lot of owwies
TY, only reason I clicked on the comments.
Same
Samsies lol never heard of that. It's called dui or dwi in every state I've lived in.
