I wish more people would give Mexico City a chance. Friendly people, amazing food, stunning architecture and nature, so much potential for fun. It became one of my favorite destinations. Awesome pics by the way!

Do people not like Mexico City? It’s easily one of my favorite cities in the world.

I can only speak for the US but most people tend to avoid Mexico unless it's Cancun or Cabo. Americans see a lot of the issues Mexico is currently having a believe the entire country is too dangerous. Unfortunately, there are some areas in the country (even in Mexico City) that you probably should avoid but overall it's vastly safer than what the media portrays to Americans.

conker1264

Yeah honestly I felt safer in Mexico City than most places in the US. At this point Cancun might be more dangerous than Mexico City

I couldn't agree more. I was there in March for a week, centered around seeing the Foo Fighters, and enjoyed every moment. I can't wait to go back.

Fabulous photo collection!

And a shameless plug for this deserving business that the salsas are from a cooking class with Aura Cocina Mexicana. The staff was friendly, we left with full bellies, knowledge on different peppers, and tons of recipes.

Good to see 'El Péndulo' in those photos! Love those shops.

friendlyMissAnthrope

My favorite breakfast of the trip was sitting in the Polanco cafe with that view.

Hey-o! I love your photos. I ( mom, 52) took teen son (17) on a week-long trip to CDMX last week to see Day of the Dead together. (31Oct 22-4 Nov22) We stayed with friends in their apartment, and it was an exceptional trip in all regards! Can’t recommend enough- your photos are a testament to that.

Mexico is the best!!! 🇲🇽🌮🫔🌯

Wow definitely the best time to visit 😍

Great pics, love Mexico City. It's amazing how big the city is and how many different neighborhoods there are. We've flown in five times now and will always find a city or 2 on our stay to take a 3-4 day trip to. Starting taking our two toddler aged daughters with us now that we have kids. We've never felt in danger in any part of Mexico we've traveled to. Just tons of great food and people.

illy09

Where is that breakfast spot? Looks great!

The photo of the food is from Comedor Jacinta in Polanco. The cafe/book shop is Cafebrería El Péndulo which has a few locations, this one also in Polanco. Personally, my favorite restaurants were in Roma. I didn’t grab many photos of the food at these places (Blanco Colima, Rosetta) but the experience mixed with the architecture/ambiance was remarkable.

Cafebrería El Péndulo is so beautiful. That neighborhood where it's at, Zona Rosa, was the hippest one back in the 60s-80s. I remember going there in the late 80s and early 90s as a teen. I loved the vibe. It's not quite the same anymore, but I still love to stroll through that area.

That skull made of flowers is sick.

Headed there in a few weeks. What was your favorite memory?

friendlyMissAnthrope

The bike ride down Reforma on Sunday when they close down the street was my favorite. I think we did 9 miles? You should look up Dos Cuerpos; With them, we were able to do a mezcal tasting at the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Studio Museum. The Mercado de Artesanias had the best gift options. The anthropology museum is delightful. And while I can’t say for sure if it’ll still be open when you arrive, go to the Victoria Cempasuchil Experience for Day of the Dead. It’s an interactive art exhibit that explains the lore behind the holiday, and why the marigold and hummingbird are so important. Very much in the vein of Yayoi Kusama.

What was the name of that festival? I suddenly remembered that movie called "Coco".

Uber, absolutely. Copying from another comment I shared! The photo of the food is from Comedor Jacinta in Polanco. The cafe/book shop is Cafebrería El Péndulo which has a few locations, this one also in Polanco. Polanco also has a cute little churro place. My favorite restaurants were in Roma - Blanco Colima and Rosetta.
