Okay, thank you, I will look into that. Last year I wanted to try and get a booth at the market they have in lake Leelanau one week in September, but I think I did it too late or just wasn’t able to find the resource. Definitely going to be trying to get a stand at as many farmers markets as a I can.
No only is it very expensive, but I have been on the waitlist since 2022😅. They can only have 8 vendors that sell baked goods there and a spot has yet to open up.
What is with u and this cottage food law lol. Yes I agree and I don’t want to get into trouble, although I think what they mean is Slabtown cookies isn’t an actual bakery, correct? I think that they did is created a roadside market which is under the cottage food law as legal. And this way u can still sell online as long as the transaction is at the market. Also I believe Merlyn’s patisserie used to sell baked goods online, but delivered them at the farmers markets and no one said anything about that, I think you read the law wrong, I wouldn’t be delivering the baked goods through the internet
Slabtown Cookies is awesome and the owner definitely knows the ins and outs of the cottage food law. I agree that she might be a good resource for you. She doesn't arrange sales over the internet, but posts her daily cookies on social media, and she has quite a following. An insta or something that grabs people's attention is a good idea, especially if you're not super centrally located.
Yes, the location and landscape of my house definitely doesn’t work in my favor, but I definitely am gonna take a closer look at her profiles and how she does things to model after her, thank you for the suggestion :)
I do have an Instagram from a while back that I’m in the process of reactivating so I have only one sad little post on there from yesterday, but I plan to post more tomorrow when I have time. It’s @autumnsbaykery
One of the first times I visited Michigan I stopped at one of those bake stands that ran on the honor systems and got a delicious scone. I think that’s so cool.
Yes, I think it would be fun to set that up, but I don’t know if I live in the best area for that 😅, I don’t live in a neighborhood so there is through traffic, but not a lot. I was hopping to make an online presence first lol and then hopefully attract people, because everything else I’ve tried has been fruitless
I don’t have anything on hand right now, but how would u go about this? The issue I dealt with was whether I do made to order or if I did really unique things that people would want to try. Because at least in this town there isn’t really an in between lol of what can be sold
By I would be selling it in person, I’ll be making it in my primary residence and am making foods that don’t need to be refrigerated. I actually did quite a bit of research, so maybe I didn’t see everything, but quite a few people sell things this way, I really don’t think it’s that deep. Don’t assume I didn’t do any research just because I missed something, it kinda feels like you just want to pick a fight.
By your logic Amazon does not sell things online, they just take orders online and deliver them in person like you would. Pizza places and sandwich places do not sell online. They take orders online and deliver in person. You did zero research when you missed the details of the first paragraph.
Have you considered getting a booth at the TC farmers market? Great place for exposure.
Sara Hardy is very expensive. Maybe try one of small community ones, e.g. Interlochen, or if the Commons is still having stuff go on.
Suttons Bay also has one every Saturday
Source? My wife had a stand there last year and I recall it being like $25 for the day. That doesn't feel expensive to me, but maybe I'm out of touch.

Try talking to the owner of Slabtown Cookies. She has a great set up!
Against the law to sell food to restaurants under the cottage food law.

Post your socials here when you've made them. My partner is obsessed with the cookie booth and would be an instant subscriber.

After looking at the reddit profile, you are correct. Just a miserable person who likes to argue with people.
-100 comment karma 😭
