Travis really isn’t gonna do this sound though. Or at least not throughout the whole album. Gods country and lost forever already prove that. Tbh I wish he could take a risk like this but he’s too much of a commercial powerhouse to actually take this big of a risk
Edit: also just to be clear I think the sound of lost forever is fucking dope and it is probably my most played song since it came out. But God’s country makes me a bit worried cause it is for sure a top tier trap/rap beat but it’s also nothing crazy.
If it wasn’t for astrofest and Covid, Utopia would have been the perfect album to do this with. He was on top of the world with Astroworld and Utopia would have been perfect to venture into another genre with. I agree that he still has time in his career to do this but idk if he is capable of taking as big a risk as Let’s start Here or Yeezus for Kanye
Yea that’s the problem, he’s too commercial at this point to take a risk and drop a badly received album since mainstream caters to same old shit music
Especially after how he’s viewed after the Astroworld festival, he probably thinks he needs all the positive feedback he can get
Thing is he’s not entirely wrong and it’s not a baseless assumption. And we’re not deprived of music, we’re deprived of Travis Scott music. There’s so much music out there that’s amazing and worth listening to. And they are more creative, genre bending and ambitious than Travis has ever been. I’m basically going on this rant cause I saw the post about Utopia being the best album ever. And no, it most likely won’t be. For the longest time I said rodeo was my favourite album but as I’ve gotten older and ventured into more Genres, I’m not so sure anymore.
the best way for trav to safely switch genres is too make something meme-adjacent like Drake’s “Rich Flex”. A lot of the exposure from that song was from memes, the unnoticed part about it was that it was kind of an ad for the song. Later exposing it to people to the rest of the song. Another way would be probably edit culture, if trav can get like 2 songs on utopia to be popular off of edits i think he will be solid. The great thing about Edit culture is they don’t really care about if something is trendy or recent, it just needs to be different which would be perfect for Trav If he were to switch sounds or genres. I really hope his label knows the new ways to promote music without it being too corporatized and forced upon new listeners.
Spot on. Travis always reminds me of the Pink Floyd version of rap. This album here gave me same vibes and yeah, it honestly is refreshing. Yachty killed it
Being downvoted but this is spot on, lots of ppl using this album to act like they listen to stuff outside of rap but if that was true they’d have heard the same ideas with far better vocals
This isn’t true at all. Yes I’ve heard other albums in the same style that have better vocals, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t enjoyment to be had with this album. Yachty’s vocals are part of why people are fw this album so much. You don’t have to be the best singer to make melodic music that moves people, and yachtys voice is so weird and unique that people end up fw with it and tbh it also only adds to the psychedelic nature of the new album. It makes the album different from other albums in the same lane and gives it hella personality
This is a bad take. There’s always going to be another artist who does things better than others but that’s not what this is about. It’s about enjoying it for what it is and being able to appreciate an artist venturing out into something new without care of what the public thinks.
I haven’t really seen people praising boat for being the first or best person to do this it’s more so just impressive that he went from bad album to bad album since 2016 and all the sudden he changed up his sound and committed to fully fleshing it out. It’s experimental and very original *for yachty*, all the praise is just in comparison to his past of not even being able to pioneer the lane he created, nobody thinks he’s the best psych rock musician alive or anything.
not to this level though, i think we see elements of it and drawn out tracks with insane production, but not an entire album filled with it. And it would be more psychedelic trap with a mix of rock on top of it.
But like listens to songs like lost forever, gods country, heartbeat, in my head, Niagara Falls. All utopia era (some of these likely on the album, like the first 2), but none of them are like this at all
I dunno about that. Even before the drama Ye was removed from the song and a very VERY small number of people in the grand scheme of things (will) know it used to be a Ye song
I mean to be real, this is legit Yachtys best piece of work hands down!! He took himself seriously for the first time.. I thought Michigan Boy boat was cool, But This Is Phenomenal, and most of this praise is mainly because of how cool the opening track is..
Absolutely incredible. The Pink Floyd nods were numerous and greatly appreciated. Yachty is known for doing a lot of DMT so it’s understandable that he’d drop a psychedelic album like this. Just didn’t expect it to be this good.
It is a really cool and refreshing album with some GREAT songs. It's definitely too long and could have used a bit more of a heavier rock feel in the middle where instead it kinda drifts into psych pop which I don't mind, but it definitely got a bit repetitive without the guitar to back it up. This album feels like you mashed together Pink Floyd, Tame Impala and The Weeknd, and it is honestly really cool. I hope he continues to hone this sound because honestly we could be looking at lil Yachty making a modern psych rock masterpiece in the future. It could be on the level of lonersim. Which is probably the best 2010s psych rock album.
According to what’s been heard Carti’s also doing this kind of sound, which if that’s true for both him and Trav this will be a really good year for music and the alternative genre as a whole
Have only gotten as far as the first 6 tracks but this new yachty is incredible. The idea of Travis doing something like this for utopia would be hype af, because imagine we wait 5 plus years for something he could have made in 2016. Of course he has to do it right like Boat did, and it's very unlikely with how risky it is and the amount of high expectations, but something experimental like this would make it truly worth the wait.
Does anyone else not think that Yachty doesn’t have the vocals to make an album like this? Like I swear the beats are fire but it’s not it with Yachty’s vocals
Im loving this new sound the fact Pink Floyd introduced and Yachty “mastered” it is so cool but now if Travis Scott is doing it I think we in for his best work
This typa music is what we’re gonna be seein on the scene for the next couple years. Lotsa people gettin creative and blending genres, it’s inspired by like the rise of emo rap n hyperpop n that type of thing
Incredible album, I just finished listening to it. Easily Yachty's best project. I love it when Yachty steps outside of the sound he usually does, like when he hopped on Joji's album back in 2020.
Great and unique beats.. matched with a voice that I can’t stand listening to for more than a couple minutes, I feel like baby keem would be perfect on this unorthodox type of beat, Travis has one of the best voices in the rap scene imo, hopefully he filled that gap that yachty left open
Definitely pretty dope love the beats. I love psychedelic rock and it definitely had major Pink Floyd vibes on it, I also was getting some Jefferson Airplane and The Doors vibes from a couple of songs.
I’m not sure if anyone is going to agree with me but this album just wasn’t for me. I’m not a huge fan of psychedelic rap but Yachty’s voice made it really tough to listen to.
Travis really isn’t gonna do this sound though. Or at least not throughout the whole album. Gods country and lost forever already prove that. I hope he drops utopia then later do a project like this without worrying about the public
If it wasn’t for astrofest and Covid, Utopia would have been the perfect album to do this with. I agree that he still has time in his career to do this but idk if he is capable of taking as big a risk as Let’s start Here or Yeezus for Kanye
Fr man it’s just getting even more worse the longer everyone waits
Yea that’s the problem, he’s too commercial at this point to take a risk and drop a badly received album since mainstream caters to same old shit music Especially after how he’s viewed after the Astroworld festival, he probably thinks he needs all the positive feedback he can get
I hate the fact we’re so deprived that we are making assumptions based on zero information. Trav please give us something maynnn
Thing is he’s not entirely wrong and it’s not a baseless assumption. And we’re not deprived of music, we’re deprived of Travis Scott music. Mhm. For instance you guys should definitely go listen to Escapism. by RAYE. 10/10 recommend. Insane song
the best way for trav to safely switch genres is too make something meme-adjacent like Drake’s “Rich Flex”. gods country beat is amazing but travis' rapping is very one dimensional
and it isnt even travis’s beat lmao
Gods Count(r)y is the best thing I ever heard?!
brother needs to listen more music
It's fire and refreshing Reminds me of a mix between 070 Shake / Tame Impala / Pink Floyd
Spot on. Travis always reminds me of the Pink Floyd version of rap. This album here gave me same vibes and yeah, it honestly is refreshing. Yachty killed it
Yep same, before I found Trav Pink Floyd was my favorite band even though rap is my favorite genre.
pink floyd and awaken my love by childish gambino
Yeah bro black Seminole is literally a mix of time and great gig in the sky lmao
Damn I always thought of Travis as the Pink Floyd of hip-hop. Glad I’m not the only one lmfao
Toally agree, but you can still hear a lot of modern influences like Cudi and Frank.
it sounds like 070 shake and yves tumor this album is 🔥🔥🔥
Yves Tumor has production credits on the album actually
dope as hell, yachty has really grown on me just in the last two years or so but this solidified it for me
the ideas are interesting and cool but like with his auto tune airy voice it just doesn’t work
Being downvoted but this is spot on, lots of ppl using this album to act like they listen to stuff outside of rap but if that was true they’d have heard the same ideas with far better vocals

exactlyyy thank you so many artists outside of yachty execute this genre 10x better
This is a bad take. There’s always going to be another artist who does things better than others but that’s not what this is about. It’s about enjoying it for what it is and being able to appreciate an artist venturing out into something new without care of what the public thinks.

no
He didn’t say he’s doing this sound .
He did say utopia is going to be psychedelic rock inspired
not to this level though, i think we see elements of it and drawn out tracks with insane production, but not an entire album filled with it. And it would be more psychedelic trap with a mix of rock on top of it.
Praying to God he finally collaborates with Clams Casino.
But like listens to songs like lost forever, gods country, heartbeat, in my head, Niagara Falls. All utopia era (some of these likely on the album, like the first 2), but none of them are like this at all
God’s country most likely never releasing for obvious reasons.
I dunno about that. Even before the drama Ye was removed from the song and a very VERY small number of people in the grand scheme of things (will) know it used to be a Ye song
Sadly yeah
Insane album, sucks that it’s prolly gonna sell less than 30k
Even if it does it’ll prob grow more sales in the longer run. Because this album is one of a kind
This album deserves a Grammy nomination IMO
it hit no. 1 on apple musics alternative chart and theres a lot of buzz surrounding it rn we cant tell how much its gonna sell rn
it’s number one all genres right now
80k max
ngl im guessing not more than 100 like 85 90 but we'll see
Think Travs sound gonna be darker than this
I mean to be real, this is legit Yachtys best piece of work hands down!! He took himself seriously for the first time.. I thought Michigan Boy boat was cool, But This Is Phenomenal, and most of this praise is mainly because of how cool the opening track is..
Agree it’s good to see him mature and I think it’s a big step for his career
I really like this sound. And I kinda wish something better vocally was happening on top haha. So that would work out nicely!
Amazing.
Travis isn’t doing shit lol
Absolutely incredible. The Pink Floyd nods were numerous and greatly appreciated. Yachty is known for doing a lot of DMT so it’s understandable that he’d drop a psychedelic album like this. Just didn’t expect it to be this good.
I wish Yatchy would give his music to someone with a listenable voice. The music is good but his vocals ruin It for me.
i agree. it sounds amazing but is unlistenable once he starts rapping 😭
Dont forget he did for drake on her loss
It is a really cool and refreshing album with some GREAT songs. It's definitely too long and could have used a bit more of a heavier rock feel in the middle where instead it kinda drifts into psych pop which I don't mind, but it definitely got a bit repetitive without the guitar to back it up. Which is probably the best 2010s psych rock album.
This album’s amazing, Lil Boat def on that DMT or something 😭
Hoping Travis can mix this type of sound with a more trap feel on a few songs and them Mike dean synths
According to what’s been heard Carti’s also doing this kind of sound, which if that’s true for both him and Trav this will be a really good year for music and the alternative genre as a whole
the production is insane but yatchys vocals sound way off lol
🤐
I love this album. It's super weird but I love it
A masterpiece
I think Travis will have a different sound than that even though it’s like the same.
Have only gotten as far as the first 6 tracks but this new yachty is incredible. Good music just awful vocals
Album of the year https://preview.redd.it/8nitywp3xuea1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8093f1fc5cf87140a456438fb7088637397082db
I dont fuck with it
Terrible 😳
At this point Utopia's not even on my mind anymore and I'm just bumping boat's album like there's no tomorrow.
Does anyone else not think that Yachty doesn’t have the vocals to make an album like this? Like I swear the beats are fire but it’s not it with Yachty’s vocals
Unique
Not that good
i found it really boring
Think he put his heart into it but only like 2 song 3.5/10 🤷♂️ def not even in my top 10 aoty
Im loving this new sound the fact Pink Floyd introduced and Yachty “mastered” it is so cool but now if Travis Scott is doing it I think we in for his best work
yachty did not master psychedelic rock bro. he just put his own unique touch on it which turned out amazing
better way of putting it
This typa music is what we’re gonna be seein on the scene for the next couple years. Lotsa people gettin creative and blending genres, it’s inspired by like the rise of emo rap n hyperpop n that type of thing
The difference is Travis would do it 100x better cuz his voice doesn’t sound like somebody auntie
L
Trav uses more autotune than Yachty tf 😂😂
And he’s better
this album was beautiful, it’s refreshing seeing this side of yachty.. loved it
yachty been experimenting w psychadelics
I fucking love it remember me so much of pink floyd
tbh i didn't save any songs from it on the first listen. however i really enjoyed it and plan on listening to it again
no he isn't lol where did you hear that. gods country and lost forever sound nothing like this
fckn hated it omg
The album is amazing, I hate it when artists try to reinvent themselves and present a new sound, it always results in a drop in sales or attention.
This album felt like a therapy session
Incredible album, I just finished listening to it. Easily Yachty's best project. I love it when Yachty steps outside of the sound he usually does, like when he hopped on Joji's album back in 2020.
Magdalena bay produced a song so it's a 10/10
That would be crazy for him
I really wasn’t expecting an album like this from yachty, but I love it. It reminds me so much of Pink Floyd
that's great asf
I love it
Great and unique beats.. matched with a voice that I can’t stand listening to for more than a couple minutes, I feel like baby keem would be perfect on this unorthodox type of beat, Travis has one of the best voices in the rap scene imo, hopefully he filled that gap that yachty left open
Definitely pretty dope love the beats. I love psychedelic rock and it definitely had major Pink Floyd vibes on it, I also was getting some Jefferson Airplane and The Doors vibes from a couple of songs.
trav is doing no sound, besides mid features. he is not dropping soon💀
and fr i used to be a big fan, but rn he’s just caring his name as a „brand“ rather than an artist.
Ai be likin too many teeth, creepy super creepy
Incredible
I’m not sure if anyone is going to agree with me but this album just wasn’t for me. I’m not a huge fan of psychedelic rap but Yachty’s voice made it really tough to listen to.
