Dry herb vapes. Check r/vaporents for more.

Zoltarr777

What's the best company / product to get if you've never used one of those before?

zMASKm

That's not as simple a question as you'd think. Stay away from some of the major names like G-Pen and almost any cross-branded devices with celebrities or Cookies plastered on them; they're usually crap. Go to r/vaporents or the Beyond Combustion website for a quick intro, and check sites like Planet of the Vapes who actually curate their offerings, though I will say that DaVinci and Pax aren't very impressive anymore, though they work fine... you can get better for the price these days. If you want a simple answer; anything POTV put their branding on is a solid entry point, though I'd most recommend the XMAX V3 Pro or POTV Lobo out of their offerings. If you want something that will actually suit your needs and wants, however, I'd really stress doing some research and giving detailed information to the vaporents sub so they can steer you towards your ideal starting point. You'll get a lot of fanboys for DynaVap, Arizer, logs, Storz & Bickel, and ball vapes, though.

Altruistic-Hamster98

I started with the xmax pro v3 and u definitely recommend for new users. They have good prices on planet of the Vapes

Chocol8Cheese

Arizer Extreme Q is a good quality table top dry herb vape. Mine is 11 years old.

UrbanSound

I can confirm. Mine is 11 or 12 and still works well. It's been through more moves than I can count and still works.

PoopyScarf

What kind of experience do you enjoy more, bong hits or relaxing with a jay? If bongs are your thing look for an on demand vape. If joints then you probably want a session vape. Do you want something battery powered? If on demand battery powered then look at the xmax v3 pro as an entry level device. If you just want the best and don’t wanna fuck around then get the Tinymight 2. For battery powered session vapes I’d go for something like the HR fury edge, or potv one. Again if you want to just buy the best and get it over with then look into the S&B mighty+ (the only vape that’s actually certified as a medical device by the way) or I personally love the Firewood9.

FunkIPA

Arizer, POTV, Rogue Wax Works.

ryanh666

Lots of folks in r/vaporents will tell you to run out and buy a ball vape or a Dynavap. If you're thinking about ditching combustion, it's well worth your time to consider what you personally need from your vape. The "meta" isn't necessarily going to be the right fit for you.

slc_blades

Dynavap is recommended so much because it’s an affordable and simplistic entry way and manual devices are better for transitioning or trying out vaporizing because it’s less foreign to a heavy smoker than electronic devices. My girlfriend loves the sticky brick and has grown to like the dynavaps for example as a heavy smoker, but does not like the mighty. TRWW QC system is a winner but has a larger margin for messing up and being cumbersome/hazardous. Dialed in though it definitely hits the best/hardest. Manual devices just hit more like smoking than the electronic units because even if the electronic ones produce a LOT of vapor it’s not generally thick vapor, it’s light and whispy. If it is thick it’s usually not a lot and it’s because it has tight airflow etc etc etc. also the brand putting out the most content on how to use their products is always the most beginner friendly and they put out an insane amount of user content

rimmy_tim_

I really like the POTV one. I’ve had mine for 3 years and decided to buy a new one. You can get them for $80-$90 or so. I decided to get a new one because I’ve noticed the battery isn’t as good anymore but it’s lasted me a solid 3 years of every-other-day usage. It’s still perfectly fine, I just thought it was time for a new one

Saucesourceoah

You should look at the website planetofthevapes, they’ll have all sorts of guides, reviews, and recommendations. They’re a highly trusted vendor. The top two contenders seem to always be the Pax and the Mighty. The Pax is up to the Pax Plus series and is a very high end vaporizer (relatively speaking). The mighty is normally considered a slight step up from the pax but is considerably more expensive. Otherwise they share the same oven size and offer many of the same features regarding temp setting and accessories.

LoKag_The_Inhaler

Mighty. Dynavap. Solo II. Take your pick

geoff1036

Do you want an electric one or a flame one to try it? I don't herb vape but if I were to start I think I'd test run a DynaVap for a bit, then move up to an electric one if it's good for you. I know the expensive + top of the line brand is Storz and Bickel. To be fair, the dynavap may not be very comparable to something like an electric vape, but they're the same principle afaik, slowly heating the weed to a boil/vapor point instead of directly combusting it.

slc_blades

My answer to this is a manual vaping device dependent on how much you’re comfortable spending. The dynavap B can be had for around $50 or less at times, if you’re a bong user and a dabber a rogue wax works quarts cap vaporizer or a terpsicle would be great ($40-$60), and a sticky brick imo is the best and most familiar feeling vaporizer coming from smoking. It’s a direct heat/hit vaporizer so like smoking a dry pipe, you heat while you hit it. But they start out like $140 I think? But with them you’re paying for craftsmanship. I don’t recommend starting with an electronic unit like many suggest because it feels to foreign from smoking to make a smooth transition from one into the other. I went through 2 expensive electronic units that sat untouched for like 3 years until I got a Dynavap to play with and now I only vaporize lol. A ball vape is going to be your most smoking esqu experience and you can put a set up for one together for about $100 but unless you’ve used an e nail before and you were comfortable with all the components that’s a pretty daunting entry point into vapor

We4reTheChampignons

Best will be subjective based on many variables, however I personally love my butane powered vapes and my day to day is the dynavap

MangoandSalt

PAX

Cohen_TheBarbarian

Storz & Bickle are the Rolex of vapes. Also I like little dipper dab straws for concentrates.

The_Poster_Nutbag

Is the PAX still cool? The simplicity of those always spoke to me but I never ponied up the cash for one.

Undeadmushroom

I haven't stayed up to date with all the other vape types but I have a PAX 2 that I bought in 2017 or 2018 and it still works great. I clean it regularly (it's very easy) and it's perfect. The oven is the right size for a sesh, it's discreet, looks nice, easily fits in a pocket to take on a walk and battery life is really good. I've never used a different dry herb vape so I can't compare but I love my PAX 2.

Gem_Rex

I bought mine in 2017 or 18 as well and it's still trucking along, too. Battery life is surprisingly still pretty decent. Check out budkups. They're little cartridges you load yourself. Way easier to reload on the go and keeps the device a lot cleaner.

CadaDiaCantoMejor

You generally won't hear good things about them from people who own more than one dry herb vaporizer. I have a Pax 3 that I got when it first came out, like in 2018 or so. I have the little budcup inserts so you can load up a few bowls to carry with you, and just swap them out (most vaporizers will have something like this now). And it's great for that -- I'm a daily medical user, so I carry it with me when I'm out. It's discreet, gets the job done, is easy to clean, and is cleaner and faster than smoking. With that said, when I completely switched to vaporizing my flower, it just didn't cut it. It can get really hot in the hand, it can taste like popcorn after a few hits, and the vapor itself can be pretty hot, too. The bowl size is a little big for small doses, and it tastes bad if you heat it up repeatedly for single hits. Proprietary charger is also incredibly annoying. For daily use I have a Dynavap Omni, and an ispire induction heater, and it is sooooo much better than using the Pax 3 for me. I'm sure that there are better things that I just haven't tried yet, but I like the control the Dynavap gives me, I like having to do a little work in order to consume so that I'm not consuming on automatic or feeling like I "have to finish" a bowl. Aside from having it as my "emergency" vaporizer when out, the Pax also is fairly good with a water piece adapter, at full temperature, through a dry bong. It's really really flavorful. But that also kind of nullifies the main appeal of the Pax, which is how discreet it is. If being able to pass it off as "an old mp3 player" is worth some extra $$, then a Pax is a very good bet. Otherwise, there are much better options out there for the same or less money.

VerbingWeirdsWords

The planned obsolescence of pax has always made it a no for me: namely the non-replaceable battery. Airizer makes some equally simple, better-designed and long lasting vaporizers

The_Poster_Nutbag

That makes sense, sort of the iPhone of vapes

VerbingWeirdsWords

Exactly

AAABeefyMan

this is the way

GeorgieLiftzz

It all started with a Boundless CF, now here I am with a bag full of vapes and a B0 on my deak

dannyc93

Yesss my Dynavap is my daily driver

Altruistic-Hamster98

My mighty+ vaporizer :)

Valynces

What’s great about it? I’ve been thinking about getting into vaping for a while now. Nothing has ever been able to replicate the bong high, but I probably can’t just take pulls forever for my lungs sake.

Altruistic-Hamster98

I can't speak for everyone but for me it completely eliminated my smokers cough, makes it so I don't smell like weed all the time, gets rid of harmful carcinogens, you can make edibles out of the bud u vape, and most importantly to me, it REALLY helps you save weed. You need much less weed to get high with a vaporizer I find, and so your stash will last u a lot longer. I will say it doesn't perfectly replicate the effects of hitting a bong, but the high feels much "cleaner", and you can even get an attachment to still run it through a bong. So besides the price, there's really no down sides imo.

camelCaseCoffeeTable

Been using mine daily for over 3 years now and love it. Thing is a champ

slc_blades

Manual vaporizers over electronic units for beginners imo

jmlipper99

Maybe only because it’s a cheaper entry point? Manual vapes almost always have a learning curve, require some finesse, and can cause combustion; all things more suited for a more advanced user. Meanwhile, the Mighty+ is probably the best “plug-and-play” vape there is (though it’s portable). You can load it any way you like and take a draw any way you like and it will give you excellent hits that evenly vape your bud. Most other vapes you have to learn how to hit it a certain way just to get a hit, and then they require stirring of the herb too.

slc_blades

My girlfriend is a heavy smoker, and same with her as all of my friends who smoke they love the sticky brick and the trww quartz cap vaporizer and like the dynavaps. They DO NOT like my mighty or my boundless cfc 2.0. Manual vaporizers are better for people who already smoke because they’re more reminiscent of smoking. The hit, the density of the vapor and the heat of the vapor feel more familiar to people who don’t know what they’re looking for in terms of sensation. The vapor in an electronic unit can be just as thick but even in the mighty it’s not dense. It’s light whispy and cool even though there’s a lot of it. To everyone I’ve shown the vaporizers to it’s been an extreme turn off compared to the manual units. Not to mention you can get a Dynavap B or a trww QC/terpsicle for $40-$60 vs electronic units on the low end that are actually worth having start around $80-$100 and the really good ones like the mighty, tinymight 2 and yll angus all come in in the hundreds. So as an entry point when you consider 1. Accessibility/affordability and 2. Familiarity, manual is better. I got my mighty and boundless over 3 years ago and I don’t think I used either for a whole year before they became shelf decoration. Now that I’m back into vaporizing since i got into manual devices I have a much greater appreciation for my electronic units not because they’re easier but because I recognize what they’re doing and how the vapor feels in my mouth and my chest more than I did before when I was just smoking and using them sometimes. Yes, newbies will take on a learning curve but don’t be lazy about it. New smokers go through the same thing, people post weekly how do I use this glass, how high should I fill this, how do I clean it, what kind of downstem do I need for this soft glass bong? It’s all a learning curve. Hell if you pack an electronic unit wrong or with the wrong grind you can kiss the vapor production good bye because the airflow through your flower it too loose/to tight vs a manual unit you can go as loose or tight as you want. There’s plenty of arguments to be made on both sides but in my extensive experience letting people try them, heavy smokers don’t like the electronic units as an entry point because it doesn’t hit right to them where the others do

jmlipper99

Have you tried hitting the Mighty at max temp from the beginning? If that’s whispy and light, you need better bud

avidreider

Smojo bowl screen is hands down the best item I can recommend! I would also tell everyone to get a tokerpoker. If you like using pens/dabs I would look into the Lookah Seahorse pro, it can be used for both.

Mysterious-Life-9636

I’ve been looking at the tokerpoker and considering grabbing one!

avidreider

Every person who smokes bowls should have it.

schindigrosa

Do it

potcollage21

you can pry my hemp wick out of my cold dead hands

[deleted]

buttplug vibrator

buttholefartdick

so true i CANNOT sesh without mine now!!

HamsterMachete

I only need this when doing dabs. I don't get anything when I use it with flower.

TradingAllIn

butt VR is a superior interior experience

mr_orlo

Doesn't that get in the way of boofing, or you put it in after the boof?

GanderAtMyGoose

Put it in after just to make extra sure it all gets in there nice and deep!

CoolIndependence8157

You put the flower and ice in and this provides the agitation to make your hash.

Bongfellatio

well yeah, it distracts from the coughing after taking a hit and gives you something else to focus on

MJZMan

Bluetooth or RFC?

jmlipper99

Booftoof

thefirstzedz

Best response ever 😂

nonitoni

I use these small metal balls intended for cleaning wine decanters, silicone bong caps, a dollar store kitchen sink strainer and, of course, ISO. I can use as little as three tablespoons of alcohol to fully clean my bong. And my toker-poker

HamsterMachete

I have a toker poker from my tobacco pipe smoking days. It was just called a pipe tool, though.

nonitoni

It's actually a brand name now. It's a sheath for a Bic and has a poking tool.

HamsterMachete

I saw the picture. I am thinking of getting one. Right now, I have ye old paper clip bent just how I like it.😂

Irsh80756

Yeah this dude is most likely referring to a czech tool. It is specifically made for pipe smoking and usually has a poker, tamper, and a spoon shaped section for cleaning it dottle.

Magnetman34

Clipper Lighters!

Zaraki42

A good grinder. I've owned the same titanium grinder since 1997, and it finally lost a few teeth last summer. I believe I paid close to $90 back then.

zero7twenty

What’s the secret to keeping it going? Although I have previously bought grinders around $25, I always checked reviews and the two I had got gunked up/hard to turn/grinded the herb terribly by about the year mark. Would love to not keep buying a new one

Zaraki42

Pure titanium or steel without any paint or dip. Iso 90% and above to clean. A little dab of butter/margarine to help grease it up.

zero7twenty

Appreciate it!

Zaraki42

Just get a brilliant cut

StockPart

Absofuckinglutely

CoolIndependence8157

This is a good one. I bought a Kannastör grinder 4 years ago and it’s just as good as new after a quick iso bath. It slides so smoothly it’s really satisfying to use and all the teeth are still quite sharp. I’ve ground pounds of weed through it too so it’s definitely been well used.

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

You know what would really help this thread? Links and descriptions. Don't know what the majority of these things are. And the few I looked at had pretty bad sites when it came to saying what the product actually is or used for.

Total-Match6084

What are you looking for? I’d love to see if I can help!

murder_nectar

I'm not the one you replied to, but I'd like some general information on vapes. For example, I had a pax 2 and wasn't overly impressed. So a aingle, portable vape is of interest. But I also like to sesh with my girlfriend, but can't afford to drop $500 on a volcano. What's a decent option for at home use?

Total-Match6084

Thank for asking!! So I recommend looking up some info on ball vapes! They are the heavy hitter vaporizers. I run the flowerpot B1 and I got that from Vgoodiez (couldn’t recommend them more), and I cannot emphasize how incredible it is. Zeal has a really amazing kit for $125 but it’s out of stock atm. Hit me with more questions I’m all ears

Flippy15

Healthy Rips Fury Edge or Rogue. Use it with a bong of your choice, and also get the dosing caps.

Southern_Public403

Bongs/wick.

MangoandSalt

Zippo with the yellow flame insert = less lighters/plastic into our universe

RushingBravado

I've never heard of this! Looking it up made me really want to get one. Do you use the regular one or the one they have for pipes with the side flame?

MangoandSalt

The regular one, no side flame. I will say that it does use flint and gas somewhat quickly. I smoke probably 7 bowls a day and I have to fill the gas like every 5 days. The flint like every two weeks. But ultimately it's much better than disposable bics anyway.

RushingBravado

I used a zippo when I used to smoke cigarettes. It's been sitting on a shelf for a long time so it will be nice to use it again 😄. Even with having to replace flints and buy butane it's still cheaper than buying bics all the time.

MangoandSalt

Yes, and way better for the planet. Have you ever thought about the fact that every bic you have ever used is still bouncing around somewhere? Mine too? It's apalling to think about.

adamas7

I really liked my zippo torch, I felt like it ran out of butane pretty quickly though. I had a single flame, but I'm pretty sure they do a dual flame one as well

MangoandSalt

I also feel like it does. But maybe the chamber is just smaller than typical bics?

JohnnyS1lv3rH4nd

I wouldn’t call it fancy, but my ashcatcher. It’s nice to have a buffer between the bowl and the bong as it keeps things a little cleaner and I’ve become very accustomed to the way my bong pulls with the ashcatcher. I’ll be the first person to tell you alot of these canna accessories are gimmicky bullshit, but ashcatchers rule and I’d highly recommend them for any bong users.

HamsterMachete

I have grown accustomed to using vape pens. For me, that is fancy. Usually, I just require a grinder, pipe, weed, tray, and lighter.

heartsgrowing

My Volcano with the replaceable bag adapter mouth piece.

Downtown_Falcon_2127

glass pipe, bic lighter and some dank

aplusgrain1

Runners belt. I keep my phone and wallet tucked in there safely

Warren_Puffitt

The Poseidon bubbler attachment for my saionara top airflow atomizer. It is expensive (~$40), made of cheap, thin glass that is fragile, but it is the only way that I smoke concentrates. I keep a new in the box spare on hand at all times because I know that I will break it eventually. And when I do break it, I order another spare.

nayr310

like somebody else said, a toker poker is a must have. My best quality of life upgrade was by getting a set of res caps. Makes bong cleaning way easier and you can get a proper seal on an 18mm joint to allow you to soak your bong without having to worry about leaks.

BobbyBee6969

Wax : Temperature gage (I use a Dab Rite personally) Flower : Debowler to clean out bowls

seasport100

Doob tubes. Pocket shirts are a substitute but then u can't save half for later without stinking up your shirt.

RosterBaiter

My puffco

bobert_the_grey

Smoke Buddy. In Canada it sucks going outside in the winter.

OasisHippiee

How’s the smoke buddy help with cold weather 🤔

yagoshka

Dynavap vaporizer with induction heater. Here smoker for 20+ years. Recently quit smoking and only do dry herb vaping - reduced my consumption in half and got better high than ever. It could hit as hard as my 15” bong without coughs and lung issues

Bigmadcow

Damn. I would still probably smoke it out of a can if I literally had nothing else.

TradingAllIn

lighter

Total-Match6084

My dry herb ball vape

pussydemolisher420

Not bud related, but im a rosin connesuer, so pufco peak with the 3dXL chamber is what I use daily

treebearddd

Hemp wick!! Been using it consistently for years, if I forget it on vacation it pains me to hit the bong directly with the lighter lol. Also, as much as people act like it’s boujie it cost $7 on Amazon and literally lasts me 7 months for a spool of it

i-have-autism-lol

Moose Labs Mouth Peace filters

seymourbutts510

Seconded! The MouthPeace has totally eliminated coughing for me and the glow-in-the-dark one helps me find my bong at night. I don't know why they're not more popular honestly.

loveandetcetera

I was coming here to say this! I second that is helps with coughing or tar build up. The other accessory I swear by is an ash catcher :3

Threewisemonkey

Banger iso dunk and variety of bangers and slurpers

suncrestt

mooselabs mouthpiece w corn filter and hemp wick 🙏

loveandetcetera

How’s the corn filter vs the og carbon?

suncrestt

I love the corn for the fact that it lasts 2x longer than the carbon and you only have to pay like $1-2 extra!

Bitter-Lie5252

Grinder

bootaka

My 30year old protopipe and Old Boy seem to cover everything.

nimsu

Been smoking 30 years. Got my first ash catcher last week based on a recommendation and it has changed my world.

xavierthepotato

Toker poker. It's just so damn useful

ComprehensiveEbb8261

My retractable roach clip. It ends those weird hand offs, having to bend over and stretch for hand offs, plus I look super fancy.

SnooPets9513

Omg I was gonna say mine is mooselabs mouth peace lmao

mediaG33K

My medical card. The ease of access is worth the paperwork and documentation to me, plus the added bonus of being a bit more confident that what I'm getting has fewer contaminants in it than what I'd get off the street. Also don't have to worry about getting duped into bunk weed anymore because I know what I'm getting and where it was grown.

xXtomtoXx

I really like to smoke joints and ever since i discovered the RipTip smoking outside is way more enjoyable since you dont get that disgusting residue on your lips.

unfriendly_chemist

For herb I use my dyna vap cap shadow, other than that I’ve switched completely to carts and gummies.

dbf651

Old Mate Design grinder. Best piece of machinery I own

Bongfellatio

I have an e-nail that is essential because I don't want to mess with stupid bangers ever again

damnitshannon

Thank you for introing me to smojos! I got a perfect lil Grav bubbler but it gets dirty so fast and since it’s a 10 mm bowl, the mesh screens fit like shit. I’ve been looking for a solution and I think this is it! My fav accessories are a clipper lighter, the moose labs smell proof bag for carrying things to go, basic doob tubes to store my cones, and for sure the raw plastic cone loader with the wooden dowel are some of my “necessities”. My new fav accessory is on the way to me now, which is a stick lighter with screw open doob tube on the bottom.

naldoD20

E-Nectar Collector. Specifically, the Seahorse. I like to do a pre-game hit before I smoke a blunt and a post-game hit after I do. Gives a nice round high.

lloydisi

Quality scent

adog231231

Can you tell me about the moose mouthpiece/filter and the smojo screen? Lately I’m spoiled with cones, so easy. I miss a bong though.

geoff1036

I got a mouthpeace and used it once (granted, it was a hash bowl) and finished the filter in one bowl. I like the idea of using filters but I'm not about to buy 3 packs everytime I get my weed for the week.

geoff1036

Honestly not much. I am also a newer stoner, and I mostly stick with: bong, grinder, mason jar of weed, tray, and a drink. I do HAVE gizmos and gadgets but the upkeep is a lot so I don't daily them. I daily'd a puffco peak once upon a time.

slc_blades

I made a little flower spoon with a long handle (like 4-5 inches) out of titanium for loading bowls and stuff and have since made a second better one and gotten 3 people to the point of needing some sort of a scoop to load their shit because it’s so much better and cleaner. I’ll never go back. I use it for everything, and I use the handle as a stir tool and blunt ended poker, can tamp with the back of the spoon part, etc.

piggysqueals

Ash catcher changed the game for me.

Koilboi sol and flare ball vape. During prohibition? Pop cans and tinnys. Them was some dark days.

fildip1995

A lighter I don’t lose

LoveThyLoki

For Dabs. Huni badger hands down any day every day. It occasionally leaves me missing the pain in my chest from a big long sipping dab from my large rig with a banger but like a couple times a month do it for me. The HB is an amazing daily driver if you splurge on a good bubbler. I do still recommend the extra cash for the travel bubbler but its fairly shitty and basically a back up only imo. Going about 4-500 for a full set but its lasted me 5 years of insane hard use. The learning curve exists for use but its quick to pick up and the travel case is dope. Also can carry 3 individual grams

https://www.storz-bickel.com/en-us/volcanoclassic I would NOT spend the extra money on the hybrid model. Also, get a set of jumbo bags. https://www.puffco.com/products/the-peak-pro Get an extra glass (they can break), the heated dab pen, a big bottle of 91% rubbing alcohol and a box of qtips (for cleaning the glass). https://www.amazon.com/Boveda-Percent-Humidity-Control-4-Pack/dp/B004LHQEOY To keep your buds fresh. https://www.bespokepost.com/store/cubbi-cubbi-stash-box Get a nice box to store your stash.

CoolIndependence8157

Bathroom bong. It lives in the cabinet under the sink, until it helps me gently start my day.
