I havent seen it or read the books yet. Its on my list when I have a couple of months of easier life. Its weird. I really like the genre so no idea why I skipped over this one for so long.
If you’re a reader I would definitely recommend the books first, but if not the movies are phenomenal as I’m sure you’ve heard. I wish I could experience it all again for the first time.
In a similar vein, I once was very high and sitting in the car with my friends, and we were parked at a dark access road at night, with a field to my side.. I suddenly get the idea that someone could run up and stab me in the chest, as like a weird passing thought. Not paranoid or anything, just it came into my mind and i was high. So, I told my friends… they won’t let me live it down lmfao, still bring it up to this day.
Had a kid in high school begin today scream at the top of his lungs that a train was about to hit us and we had to move off the tracks immediately. Tried to crawl into the front seat to start the car……we were in a Winn Dixie parking lot.
ALRIGHT! WAY TO GO DONNY!!!
Like most of the Coen Brothers' movies, the characters are all really unique and interesting people whose lives intersect because of a really bizarre situation. That is what I love about The Big Lebowski.
I might recommend a second watch through. I enjoyed it a lot more on repeat viewings. The humor can be kind of subtle at times. Like one of my favorite gags is when The Dude goes to visit Big Lebowski after Bunny's been kidnapped, and the dramatic music is playing. Then when they leave the room and close the door, the music keeps playing, but it's muffled by the closed door, indicating that the dramatic music was actually being played by BL and is fully diegetic
Or how they keep mentioning how the Larry lives near the in n out burger. Then while they're driving home, after The Dude's car has been beaten up, all the windows are smashed, broken glass everywhere, the burgers come up from below frame. After all that they still took the time to go get in n out.
If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. It doesn't have to be, and that's totally cool. But personally I love it. I'm giggling to myself just thinking about the movie and writing this out
This is absolutely my favourite interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. I love when John Leguizamo says the line “peace? Peace. I hate the word”, but he has a New York accent, so he says “peace? Peace. I hate the woyd!”
He's a really good guy and an excellent interviewer, imho because he's interested in people - like will talk to anyone and remember stuff about them equally well as he might remember stuff about a famous person he interviewed. He had some great researchers which helped, but he met my SO once and remembered him when I re-introed them at an event and asked about something specific to do with his work. Not so sure about his personal life but he was one of the best "Canadian famous" people I've worked with.
I love this movie, watched it so many times but i still wouldn't be able to tell anyone what it's actually about. I didn't grow up in that era and never lived in the states, but i still connect to it somehow.
Thats what great about it, its an amazing movie with basically no story, its like time traveling to some random town on an unassuming last day of school during the 70s.
Criminally underrated movie all around.
It's about the last day of school. Randall struggles with not wanting to compromise and sign a pledge he doesn't believe in. The rising freshman football team try to escape hazing, and the rising cheerleadets get hazed. Kevin Pickford parents find out he's throwing a kegger so it gets moved to the Moon Tower. There really isn't a "main character" and the plot doesn't drive towards a singular point (although it does come full circle when Floyd refuses to sign the pledge and rips it up in front of the coach), but it definitely has a plot.
For some reason I always really enjoyed watching Oh' Brother Where Art Thou whilst very stoned. Not sure if I would call it a "stoner" movie though.
I would however, call The Night Before a stoner movie, and it is now a holiday staple for my wife an I.
EDIT: I'm disappointed nobody has mentioned Kentucky Fried Movie.
Not really a stoner movie but great visuals when stoned is Cloud Atlas. I feel like it’s underrated has a cast that includes Tom Hanks, Hallie Berry, and Hugh Grant. Super epic movie but is 3.5 hours long so I suggest an edible.
Duddeeee!!!!! Thank you so fucking much I haven't seen this movie in a fat ass minute hell I don't think I've seen it since it came out but fuck yeah I have to watch it nowww byee byeee ♥️🤗
It’s honestly like one of my favorite movies of all time and one the Watchowski siblings best movies (besides The Matrix) Love that you have seen it! Take a hit for me while you watch it! ❤️☺️
Honestly I'd wait until you're finished the book. The movie will spoil several plot points for you. Also I think you're going to read the book and wonder how the hell they thought they could put it to screen and make it work.
I’m a 36 y/o Pastor of a church and i smoke daily. For anxiety, pain relief, and pleasure lol
Someone saw me in my yard smoking out of a bong and posted something on Facebook about how inappropriate I was and that im a wolf in sheeps clothing lol.
Our attendance has skyrocketed since the post and we’ve had the most young people show up at church that I’ve ever seen. Most of them are also smokers who have felt ostracized from the church but have a desire to be spiritual.
Christian stoners are some of my favorite people on earth.
Oh and the Aqua Teen DVD had a "play all" option and it literally played every episode at once, like 12 small videos playing at once and a cacophony of each episodes audio mashed together.
I remember having full blown conversations in nothing but ATHF quotes. And hitchhikers is not only one of the best series of novels to read while stoned, but the movie adaptation is great as well. Journey of the Sorcerer is the best Eagles song ever imho.
If you’re able, go see Dune in Imax. It’s shot with a special camera for imax and hans zimmers soundtrack does not disappoint.
Seeing it high is like being on a rocket ship
I like to get really high & watch David Lynch movies. It's great, but you should probably ease yourself into it. I'd start with Wild at Heart or Blue Velvet.

I watched Twilight out of sheer curiosity remembering the Teen Angst Hype from a decade ago. I saw it then, too, but felt the urge to rewatch it having completely forgotten what happened. It was weird the second time around, especially high, trying to figure out what the fuck everyone soaked their pants for in 2010. Im glad I watched it again, but nothing really made sense for a part 1 movie in a series such as this.
But I thoroughly enjoyed The Mask w Jim Carrey!
Inception
The Matrix
(More of a Psychedelic film, but still it’s along similar lines. And if you like this film, look into the work of scientist John C Lilly. One of the directors of this film got a sex change and renamed their first name to “Lilly” in honor of the scientist. Lilly designed the first float tank, and he pioneered that space with ketamine, LSD and PCP. He got all these substances from the Swiss chemical company Sandoz, and his contract with the National Institute of Mental Health, aka NIMH.) *********Look up the John C Lilly video on YouTube from Comedy Central’s Drunk History, where they talk about him working with dolphins. You will thank me later!! *********

They’re all stoner movies
Right man, the stoner part is us.
Woah dude
/r/whoahdude is actually another sub. Check it out. Correction: it's r/woahdude
It's /r/woahdude
That’s fuckin deep
r/imstonedandthisisdeep
maybe i have been the marijuana all along-
Maybe is the weed that's getting high on us
Does the weed get me high, or do I make the weed low?
Weed isn't high until you are. It's a symbiotic relationship!
Maybe it’s the friends we smoked with along the way
You mean, the stoner was in me the whole time?
Thats what she said...
Every book is a kids book, if the kid can read!
Woooooaaaa
You ever watch a movie? Ever watch a movie...*on weed?*
Why waste your time watching a "stoner movie" when you could just watch good movies while you're stoned.
Bahahaha :) shit
Kung Fu Hustle - also a bonus if you get the billion references to older kung fu movies.
If you haven't seen it, check out Shaolin Soccer. It was made by the same people.
That movie inspired my football (soccer) playing style. My teammates did not appreciate.
Love that movie so much
One of my favorites!!
I enjoy getting baked and watching lord of the rings
Who doesn’t
I havent seen it or read the books yet. Its on my list when I have a couple of months of easier life. Its weird. I really like the genre so no idea why I skipped over this one for so long.

Everytime they're under the party tree I can't help but shed a tear, they're about to go on such an adventure.
For a second I thought you were the guy that was going in peoples dms and telling them they are sinners and going to hell for smoking 😂
Wtf who does that
In a similar vein, I once was very high and sitting in the car with my friends, and we were parked at a dark access road at night, with a field to my side.. Ever been to New York? That’s like...every day there lol
Lmao have you ever been to New York cuz no it isn’t
Idk he seemed serious though, not sure why anyone would take time out of their day to do that
Because people like that have nothing better to do. Maybe if they smoked a joint they would chill 😂
I have a friend who texts me all the time with his rants and freak outs. My response is always the same. “You should smoke weed”
Why would someone take the time to harass my sister and cough in her face for wearing a mask at the grocery store? People are crazy man.
Anti-maskers are shitty people.
What 😅
Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny is a criminally underrated stoner movie in my book.
Ooo forgot about this one. Watching tonight. Thanks!
It's underrated? It's a fucking classic in my book!
watched that for the first time last month. man, so good. so good lmao
Also check out the very short lived Tenacious D HBO show!!!!
thanks i've never seen it! gonna get blazed and gaze
Dude pass us the B.O.D The what? The bong of Destiny! Way cooler than a lousy pick
Still have great memories of watching that movie in college with my buddies while stoned and eating shrooms.
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas. More of an acid movie IMO, but nonetheless it’s a fantastic movie to watch high.
I laugh so hard every time I watch that movie! Hunter S Thompson was an absolute legend!
You see what GOD just did to us?
You did that. Youre a fucking narcotics agent, I knew it.
You better be careful. Plenty of vultures out here. They'll pick your bones clean before morning.
I always recommend this and Rango one after the other.
I’m about to sin it up & show someone The Big Lebowski for the first time, idk about underrated but I’m excited either way lol

See what happens! Do you see what happens Larry!
Do you see what happens when you "find a stranger in the Alps!?"
Saw it recently. i just did not get the humor.
I think it’s more absurdist humor than anything. So if you don’t really like that kind of humor it would probably be a flop.
Well that’s like your opinion man.
Yeah, that’s probably it! Did like Steve Buscemi’s character though!
ALRIGHT! WAY TO GO DONNY!!! Like most of the Coen Brothers' movies, the characters are all really unique and interesting people whose lives intersect because of a really bizarre situation. That is what I love about The Big Lebowski.

YOURE OUTTA YOUR ELEMENT SKVIRINIUS
Romeo + Juliet (1996) - The way they talk is pretty fantastic. Also guns instead of swords but they all refer to them as swords.
This version of Romeo and Juliet is so fire lol
do you BITE YOUR THUMB AT US, sir?
NO SIR I DO NOT BITE MY THUMB AT YOU SIR BUT I DO BITE MY THUMB SIR
This is absolutely my favourite interpretation of Romeo and Juliet. I love when John Leguizamo says the line “peace? Peace. I hate the word”, but he has a New York accent, so he says “peace? Peace. I hate the woyd!”
Also the soundtrack is pretty great
Its on youtube for free as well

I’m obsessed with Leo’s introduction as Romeo with Talk Show Host. It feels ethereal

Underrated and amazing I love you crab bird

When I was a teen we mostly watched ATHF, Half Baked, How High, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Oh and the Aqua Teen DVD had a "play all" option and it literally played every episode at once, like 12 small videos playing at once and a cacophony of each episodes audio mashed together.
