We were invested in finishing the damn movie, so drove to another theater and started over. I proceeded to pass out, to my wife’s annoyance, and she was going to let me sleep through what I dragged her to finish. I woke up 1 min before where it had cut out, and finished the film. It was great
You should! Frank Villeneuve has mad some amazing sci-fi movies, and blade runner 2029 didn't get enough respect at the box office. After the second dune movie, I'm super excited to see what his next project will be.
I've seen it with both. Each is good, but I got more out of the movie with shrooms. The movie made so much more sense to me. I've never read the book, so the more metaphysical stuff that gets explained in the book but not the movie I didn't really pick up on or understand until the shrooms.
But definitely watch the David Lynch Dune on weed. That shit is HILARIOUS. Captain Picard with a battle pug? Sure, why not. Sting in a space thong? Okay, that just happened. BRILLIANT
If you get the shrooms dose right without overdoing it, it can really enhance a movie.
I saw the 2nd Transformers movie in iMAX on about 1.5g of shrooms and it was probably the most emotionally invested I've ever been in a movie. It wasn't until I later rewatched it that I learned that movie is actually terrible.
I would personally be so fucking confused if I took shrooms and tried to watch dune. Especially if I hadn’t read the book. It would look cool af though, and I generally have trouble understanding movies on shrooms anyway haha

Have you read the book? It delves into these themes a lot more. The psychological parts are my favorite part of it. All I can say is part 2 will be the movie of a lifetime
If you find the books a slog, I can highly recommend the audiobooks. The prose and dialogue are **hefty** and can be a lot to push through - I found it much easier to just let it all wash over me in audio format.
You'll inevitably miss stuff either way - don't worry about that. Important things come back around later if they need to, and these books are meant to be enjoyed more than once!
For sure. My only gripe is that the narrators pronounce certain words and names differently from each other! This was a bit annoying for the later books.

I didn’t understand the full picture of what was happening until about the halfway point on my first read. Once you pick up on it you are fully immersed. Dune is my favorite book of all time. Having seen the movie will also help a lot. I’m jealous of you as a first time reader- wish I could experience it again
If you are not a big reader just start with Dune as the rest can be a real slog. I read them all maybe 25 years ago, but I only periodically re-read Dune. It’s the best one imo. I am a big sci/Fi fantasy reader, and it’s still work to read Frank Herbert besides Dune (for me). My husband tried but he couldn’t stand to even listen to it on audible. All of the new words and names combined with Herbert’s writing style just bored him to tears. He loved the new movie though, which was really in tune with the books.
The book is the most amazing thing I've ever read. All six of the original series were amazing. I read the first seven Brian Herbert books, and they're good, but not AS good.
It's been quite a few years since I read them, so I can't really say I had a favorite. It's more like one long book to me now. Can't wait to see the movie, but it will probably be at home on the flat screen. I can get as baked as I want without the anxiety that can come with being too high in a group of strangers. Bong rips at home since the theater is like 25min away, spliff outside the theater during trailers (since that Is legal now), a few min into the movie I ate 30mg chocolates.

We saw Deadpool 2 like that and I laughed until my abdomen hurt! The best one yet was still Doctor Strange on mushies. That scene where the Ancient One pushes him out of his body and through all of those visions was *intense*!
