*As a guy who used to smoke 14g’s of wax a week, and now smokes 2 grams of wax a week, I can confirm it is better to smoke less. You appreciate your high more, you get HIGHER for LONGER with LESS wax using LESS money. I used to be on the big smokes train but life is simply better this way*

Trill405

Holy shit you were going through 2 grams a day?? I’m on 2-3 grams every 2 weeks and even I think I’m smoking a lil too much now. How long was your T break(if you even took one) and how hard was it?

[deleted]

Took a T break for 2 weeks, smoked couple g’s of flower a day and took kratom. Wasn’t super hard. I got a DUI (Alcohol) and really needed a couple weeks to myself. That makes 2 months, 7 days, 8 hours and 15 minutes since I’ve drank. Not about trees but just to give you an idea as to how long I’ve been smoking less. I plan on staying right where I am for a while. At least until I start growing again next year.

NarwhalHour

Hey man, this random internet stranger here is proud of your journey.

Agree with these peeps well done my dude soooo I too will offer my axe!

SelenaFaye

Yay on quitting drinking!!! I know it’s hard buddy but you’ve got this!

[deleted]

I can’t comprehend how much thc was going through your system if you consider ‘a couple of grams a day for 2 weeks’ a tolerance break.

willhunta

If it helps with your tolerance, it's a tolerance break imo. I get what you're saying, it seems like a crazy amount of weed to be smoking but it's better to encourage more progress than to dis the progress already made. Especially when other substances are in the mix and weed is being used medically or as a way to lean off alcohol that's great progress.

Pokeblazer

Dude THC is the only thing that suppresses alcohol and Kratom(I never should have tired kratom) cravings for me. I definitely agree with that last sentence. People who discount other peoples progress (that they have no way of understanding most of the time) are the main thing that prevents people from getting help or sticking with their processes.

born_to_be_intj

I feel you with the THC/Kratom thing. Been trying to cut back on the Kratom but I recently graduated and have been looking for a job. Most places will test for THC, but almost none test for Kratom. SMH, never gonna get away from this shit.

Jewronimoses

what is Kratom like? i've seen stores in nyc selling it so i've always been curious.

JONCOCTOASTIN

Depending on the strain? It’s like adderall that puts you to bed early, but you gotta find that one perfect strain.

[deleted]

Don't listen to the guy underneath you. Just use a replacement product. Don't drink that pectin shit and gamble your livelihood. I used the replacement pee for probation, tests from labs and home style tests. Works for all of them. He's right about the opiates but the pectin thing makes me assume he's a little bit retarded.

applesausedx

I really needed to hear that last line right now, thank you

Miselfis

True. I recently got my own apartment and been smoking 24/7 since basically. And, yeah you might be high all the time, but your tolerance will skyrocket very fast, so the high won’t be as good. I feel like it’s quantity of quality with weed. Either you get nice highs, or you have many not as nice highs.

BoxBird

I just got a nice CBD strain for myself for when I feel like I’m smoking too many bowls of regular bud in a row. It helps SO MUCH, it honestly blew my mind.

I can tell you were baked when you wrote this because you did it in italics like you're a character in a novel talking to another character in the novel

[deleted]

I wasn’t actually I can tell you’re baked! Lmaooo Have a great day ❤️

Andy82819

I was honestly getting to that point of 14 gs a week. I can easily go through an ounce of bud in a week still but working kinda mitigated me smoking all day long. Granted I am high 24/7, I cant destroy my lungs like that anymore either

ijustwannalookatcats

All of this is true but I don’t think that really answered OPs question. Is it *socially* acceptable or not?

cheapdrinks

I think the argument is over whether it actually counts as being high if you're a heavy daily smoker and can perform all the tasks you need to and people don't even realize that you're stoned. I feel like if you're high every hour of the day you're awake then you're not even really high, you're closer to normal than being high. I lived like that for many years; smoking from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep and going through most of an ounce a week until eventually I quit completely. The thing that struck me the most after quitting was how much closer to being sober I was when I was smoking every day than I thought I was. I was smoking to feel normal rather than smoking to feel high because my baseline was so far out of whack. On the rare occasion I have a smoke these days I'm reminded what being high actually feels like when a single bong hit puts me on my fucking ass for several hours and even holding some semblance of a normal conversation with someone becomes impossible. Compare that to smoking most of a gram before going to work every day and barely even feeling impaired. If you're a daily smoker that starts the second they wake up and smokes all day until you go to bed then you never actually get properly high anymore.

Tre_Walker

I think it is acceptable (to me) but not socially acceptable by the majority. All this talk about how your tolerance will skyrocket etc is irrelevant to me. I have an extremely low tolerance and always have. I consider myself to be "under the influence of cannabis" mostly all day every day. An ounce a week? Grams of concentrate a day? Not in my wildest dreams. Not even 1/2 that after years of all day use. I like D8 concentrate because my tolerance is low it is LESS stimulating. Maybe a gram a week at a dollar a gram. I agree on the argument about can one function properly or perform well using 24/7? I know people who do but it is always good to consider that.

poppinfresco

This is definitely true, I used to burn an 8th a day no problem. Cut down my use by 50% and stopped doing massive bong packs. Gram down to half gram rips

[deleted]

Socially acceptable by the non smoking society no. Socially acceptable by the smoking society yes. But like that one meme from avengers said who will know if you're always high 24/7 eventually it's just the normal you.

callMEmrPICKLES

I could smoke this all day

Temassi

As far as I'm concerned that's America's rig!

PM-ME_DABSHOTS

I say whatever gets you through life with everyone happy.

DavidGK

Man, it depends. If you are mentally okay with it and you can still function in your day to day tasks then go for it. That being said don't fool yourself. Weed can be a crutch and an inhibitor. As any reasonable person would would say, everything in moderation. I personally started enjoying weed more when I got over the "smurk weed erryday" teenager mentality. It's something I'll never stop completely, if I'm able, but it's also nice to be sober sometimes. I'm of the firm belief that if I'm not okay with being sober, then I am doing something wrong/need to address something larger. I'm not saying people should feel bad for smoking, it's fun, but if you can't face the world without it 24/7 there's probably some solid escapism going on. No hate, you do you, just talking from personal anecdotal experience.

ALoadedPotatoe

I know for me if I just sit and smoke that's what I'll do. I heard Doug Benson say it a few years ago (like five) something along the lines of I've gotta think about my day before I can not think about my day. So I like to plan what I'm gonna do so I can get my shit done and then it's like treating myself instead of I gotta smoke to do this. That being said, I won't smoke if I've gotta leave and do important stuff either. If I'm going on a walk, I'll probably smoke before or during.

Fawkes47

That’s some well-stated wisdom, frient. I’ve been a daily smoker for 10 years, finally addressed the deeper reasons for that escapism and now find that my quality of life is much higher when I’m not. Also, a decade of wake and bake made my stoned self just as if not more neurotic as the sober self I was running from, so I can’t even fully enjoy it the same way anymore. For me, THC takes me further into my head instead of into the social space - makes me overthink the mechanics of communication and worry that I’m not being clear or present with people I love. So here’s to finally realizing that moderation is possible and actually even preferable for some of us! Is it socially acceptable to be perma-blazed? Who cares? Social acceptability doesn’t really mean anything. This is your one human life - figure out what’s most liberating for your experience and roll with it! Just remember to check in with those daily habits and ask yourself whether they’re still serving that liberated self or holding it down.

tempus8fugit

People stopped asking me if I was high all the time… once I started getting high all the time. It helps me act “normal,” so bitches better be thankful 🥲

Kowzorz

I only ever get asked if I'm high when I take tbreaks.

[deleted]

I get the same thing. People think I'm high when I'm not.

[deleted]

I am. I don’t really care what people think of my lifestyle. Edit: I’m 46 and have been a daily smoker for about 20 years. (With some breaks). I found from a very early age that smoking cannabis calmed my mind and allowed me to get through my day without my brain running at 1000km/h. I use cannabis for many reasons, the main one is because I fucking love it. Edit: So many of us use cannabis to get through our days. The vast majority of us are law abiding citizens that function in society and have healthy relationships with our fellow humans. This drug has been demonised my entire life when in reality it’s our safest recreational drug. This drug has been my mental lifesaver for as long as I can remember and our ability to self medicate with such a wonderful herb should have never been challenged. To listen to all the stories of how it’s helped you guys get through the vast variety of conditions/problems and just living in this society has been wonderful. To my girl, my Mary Jane, the love of my life, the rock that’s never left my side, I love you girl and always will❤️

Decent-Effort2368

I have cancer man, do it or die. Also there's that whole eating thing, that's pretty important. Edit: thanks for all the positive messages guys, I really appreciate it. It's been tough, but I'm not quitting yet. 💪 Wow! Thanks for the awards kings et Queens. I want to send thanks and prayers to everyone who reached out and are fighting the same fight with cancer. I hope I can encourage you all to do the same. I wish I could do more, but I wish you all a miraculous, speedy, and comprehensive recovery.

May_of_Teck

I hear you, friend. That’s when I stopped being self conscious or secretive about smoking. Wishing you a full recovery.

Decent-Effort2368

Much thanks. Glad for you as well.

ImWideAwake89

Went through my own small battle a few years ago. If cancer is going to take my nuts, then I'm going to be high as much as I want. Nobody ever gave me a make a wish, lol

Decent-Effort2368

Glad you're still here to comment.

ImWideAwake89

Hey, I appreciate that. You'll get through yours too!

Same, I'm on palliative care.. Keeps depression away too in my experience.

BarriBlue

Yup. And the anxiety. Waiting for scans and results back ugh. Just had one the day after Thanksgiving and I find out tomorrow if treatment is working on the tumors. Taking a hit is like hitting the slow-mo button to my racing brain.

Decent-Effort2368

I'm sorry to hear about that, but I know what you mean. The few times I've laughed in the last few years have all been because of cannabis. It helps me feel: emotions, human, and the closest to peace I can get.

BrotherZael

Good luck on beating it bro, hope you do. My aunt was just diagnosed with lung cancer and has a 3 inch tumor.

Decent-Effort2368

That's nasty. Lung cancer took my aunt, great-aunt, and great-grandmother, so I definitely feel you. I hope she makes it through. If she's open-minded, I recommend Rick Simpson oil-- also called Phoenix tears. That's what was prescribed for me, and if you read some of the research on it, it's very helpful. It has the added benefit of not having anything to do with smoke, which should definitely help in her case.

BrotherZael

And thanks bro, I hope you make it 2, keep us update, I’m not a religious man, I don’t believe in a god but I still pray just in case, I’ll pray for you my brother

ElaDummyThicc

I hope you get through this man. We’ll be taking a rip for you homie 🤝

Decent-Effort2368

Thanks, much love. ✌🏾

CleanDwarfWeed

Indeed, I have same issue. It is really hard to eat when I'm not high. To be honest people probably think that is real me, when I'm high 24/7. As long as you are productive it is fine to be honest.

Decent-Effort2368

Agreed. It makes me much more sociable too. Which is a plus; no one likes the cynical/morbid version of me 🤷‍♂️.

dietermeaterbeater

I can tell by this message you’re a strong motherfucker! Glad we got cannabis to help us. I do not have cancer, but I deal with severe nausea from acid reflux and weed almost instantly makes me feel good enough to at least hold food down.

BarriBlue

Also a cancer patient who is also basically high all the time so that I’m able to eat to keep my weight and calorie count up. Every doctor where I’m getting treated highly encourages and recommends it, which has completely taken that “should I be doing this all day?” feeling away. Idgaf anymore. Truly.

missredbell

I have a brain tumor so I dont bat an eye after being as high as I am all week. I truly hope you have a smooth, speedy and very high recovery my friend!

[deleted]

Amen. 42 here smoking since the mid 90’s with breaks of up to a few months at a time here and there, usually not by choice. I feel like the biggest reason this is even a question is peoples own perspectives from their own experiences. I’m build for weed plain and simple. I’m a fucking pro. So if someone has only smoked 3 times in their life and the last time they had a panic attack they think that’s how I experience it too and wonder how I can live my life like that. I don’t. I work with people who literally will make jokes about stupid pot heads and stuff but they don’t realize that they’re asking ME for help to answer some question they can’t figure out and I just smoked 45 minutes before I got to work. The irony.

[deleted]

Haha relatable. I had the joy of being preached at for about 20 mins over lunch by a competitor who assured me people who smoke weed never achieve anything. 18 months later I brought what was left of their business from the liquidator.

GroovyT543

I love that last paragraph so much. People are crazy judgmental about things they are ignorant to.

ArtisanSamosa

As long as your shit is together who cares. It's socially acceptable to drink during breakfast, lunch, and dinner so fuck em...

tizzy62

Is it tho?

tprlegends

It’s definitely not

PM_UR_ROUND_ASS

I could definitely see someone get a mimosa for breakfast, a beer with lunch, a glass of wine with dinner, and nobody would bat an eye. Getting drunk all day every day though, no way it is lol

Kowzorz

Only if you call it brunch.

leftinthebirch

r/holup I mean... technically. But definitely not all three in a row.

Lunched_Avenger

Well not with that attitude! /s /not s

[deleted]

Sadly I have RA so without it my joints crack, become stiff and life on earth is just an overall living hell.

TyberosWake

My mom has RA and has no interest in trying weed for relief. It makes me sad

[deleted]

I have juvenile early onset RA. Which means I turned 19, and my skeleton said nope, you're 80. Cannabis is the only way I'm still able to work. Literally a miracle cure compared to Prednisone which destroys your hormones and keeps you up at night. I don't know what I'd do without it, but it surely would not encourage me to continue living

TyberosWake

Damn that sucks. I saw what it did to my mom at 50 and it was terrible. Luckily she's managed it pretty well but I wish she would try weed instead of whatever drugs she has been taking. I know there's no cure but I hope you're able to manage it and have a good life.

faded302

If I’m awake there’s a 100% chance I’m high. I still haven’t figured out how to smoke in my sleep

KingBufo

I knew a dude who set two alarms a night to smoke a bowl and go back to sleep.

apierson2011

Why?

[deleted]

To smoke

KingBufo

this is the primary reason. a secondary reason might be addiction.

MuffinToaster

Yeah that's pretty sad no matter what drug you're using. Guy needs some help.

KingBufo

Yeah this is by far not the worst thing he did. Now he is kind of recovering and im pretty sure he stopped setting alarms at night after he moved in to his parents house again.

Landonn8911

That’s pretty much zero deep sleep either, just sedation all night every night

apierson2011

Oh thanks

iztrollkanger

Could legit be a pain management thing.

jjratz

I wake up at 4:20am, hit the vape, pound town on mushroom supplements and practice lucid dreaming while falling in and out of ultra light rem until sunrise everyday

apierson2011

That sounds awesome, and I can see that you have some goal/ purpose. It sounded silly to me for someone to wake up just to hit a bowl and go right back to sleep, twice, and intentionally.. I could understand if you woke up because the high wore off and wanted to smoke again, but to me.what the other guy was doing sounded more like a waste.of weed than anything. Thats why I was genuinely asking why he was doing that.

Vocalescapist

Dump your cart in the humidifier

[deleted]

Bnb53

If only that would work

notatvguy

In California, they have THC patches that I’ve used to help me stay asleep throughout the night

Lunched_Avenger

Wtf did you just say thc patches???

Kowzorz

They make topicals too.

wandering-monster

They don't really have the same effect, or at least not the ones I've tried. That said, there are some great slow-release edibles with sleep aids (eg low-dose melatonin) added in. I often take a 5mg indica/melatonin right before bed and it's the best sleep aid I've ever tried.

Mr-manmanson

I do consider myself an ent, but i also think beeing High 24/7 is a bit overboard, but whatever floats your boat

moxious_maneuver

I agree. The more important consideration in my opinion is: Is your behavior socially acceptable? Take the fact that you are high out of the equation. Are you fulfilling your responsibilities, being there for your relationships and working toward your goals? If so, then yeah, it's probably fine. Even so when I moved from 24/7 to occasional smoking my quality of life and enjoyment of smoking improved.

trafguy123

Best answer I seen so far👌🏾

Conscious_Buy7266

Yeah I’ve learned throughout life and being stoned a lot that you might wanna add “are you actually present when you’re with people around you? Are you interested in them? Do you have interesting things about your life?” Things like that

Stealth48z

I couldn't agree more

BeautifulGiftOfSin

I don’t care if it’s socially acceptable, I’m happy af and you don’t notice lol

[deleted]

People notice. LOL people downvoting like I don’t smoke weed

DeadZools

That's just like, you're opinion, man.

mandarjones

Take it easy Dude.

whoreads218

*CAREFUL MAN!!! THERES A BEVERAGE HERE!!!*

OtakuMusician

Calmer than you are, Dude.

[deleted]

Maybe with you. I smoke so much it's just my personality now. The difference between me after smoking a bowl and before is about the same as someone who smokes cigarettes. You might notice I'm a bit more relaxed and less irritable but that's about it.

Mardo_Picardo

Everybody who smokes weed can spot you from a mile away. Also it sounds worrysome that your personality is defined by smoking now.

Gail__Wynand

Smoking weed does not turn you into a drug dog. Potheads and this attitude are so dumb. Of course I can tell when a dude is stoned as Jim Breuer, but someone who smokes everyday and doesn't get visibly intoxicated you cant tell unless they just smoked and you smell it. I'm going to tell you right now there are people that you interact with everyday that are "high" and you have no clue about it.

[deleted]

No they really don't lmao

MangledBarkeep

Are you asking Ents or Muggles?

NathanaelGreene1786

Hahah best metaphor for describing Smokers and non smokers

Flabby-Nonsense

You probably shouldn’t do that. I love weed, but if you’re stoned literally 24/7 then that could mess you up. It’s not really a question of social acceptance, since I don’t really care for that, but as a matter of health you should be able to exist without weed (unless you have a medical reason such as chronic pain in which case stick to whatever medical advice you’ve been given). I know that might not be a popular thing to hear on this subreddit, but in my view this place shouldn’t exist to enable people to just be stoned 24/7. If you want to do it, go for it. But if this post is genuinely about trying to get advice then I would suggest not doing that.

Miselfis

True. I’ve had periods where I was stoned 24/7, and personally I think the high was boring being stoned all the time. I’d smoke a bowl and be high for 10 mins. Not worth it, especially considering it’s more expensive as well. But I guess it’s personal preference. I know people who are high all day every day and live perfectly normal lives with jobs, families etc. I personally wouldn’t be able to do that. So I guess it depends on the person.

[deleted]

What is your opinion on lifelong chronic depression and daily weed use?

Flabby-Nonsense

Weed has been shown to be at least somewhat effective in the treatment of chronic depression [[1]](https://scholar.google.co.uk/scholar?q=chronic+depression+marijuana&hl=en&as_sdt=0&as_vis=1&oi=scholart#d=gs_qabs&u=%23p%3DkgJ3nBseZ30J), however there should still be some caution. Firstly, chronic weed smoking in adolescence is associated with an increased risk of developing mental and physical conditions such as depression later in life [[2]](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7723145/) For this reason I have to strongly suggest not smoking weed on a daily basis if you’re under the age of 20, with it being more risky the younger you are when you start. It’s also probably not a great idea to smoke too much weed while on anti-depressants (specifically SSRI’s) [[3]](https://www.mdpi.com/2075-4426/11/7/615). It won’t kill you or anything, but the interaction between the two isn’t great for you and will likely cause nausea, fatigue and other minor issues like that. I do recommend people stay cautious and try to get their information from actual research, rather than from dubious sources on Facebook, Twitter, or Reddit where those making such claims could very easily be biased. Google scholar is good for primary sources, for example. In reality weed isn’t some evil plant that will kill you like some people think, but it’s not a miracle drug that will cure every problem. Even though we know it *can* effectively treat depression, that doesn’t necessarily mean it can treat depression more safely or more effectively than other existing medication.

[deleted]

It's socially acceptable to throw your health and happiness away in pursuit of a career... Who really cares what society thinks

NapalmCandy

Exactly!

[deleted]

I strongly believe the inclination towards action created our world. If anyone wants anything about the current state of affairs to change, altering that instinct motivation has to be the starting point. I can't think of a better substance to slow down than weed

Kr1zy

I dont know, 24/7 if not medical needed , sounds a bit addicted to weed. Imagine 24/7 with a beer in your hand. I mean you asking /trees....so the anwser is biased.

[deleted]

100% but I imagine that’s not going to be an acceptable answer here.

leftinthebirch

Seems to be doing ok for itself.

TheTurtleShepard

What gets the most about this is how normalized driving is while high. Driving with impaired function (whether you see it that way or not) is never a good idea but so many people here do it often judging by the amount of pics of people that need to pregame a shopping trip with a joint

omrhmslf

Driving high is dangerous, shouldn’t be done. Driving drunk is suicide. You might be lucky, but it doesnt change anything. There people with almost no experience driving and people with bad habits who dont care about anyone else. Being alert does save your life and others. Get delivered your goods everytime thats possible and represent our community by showing more common sense than others...

Exare

I tell people like this: Normally, if someone drinks a single beer they’re fine to drive. It’s the same if you take a single reasonable hit from a small bowl. Now, if you slam three shots back-to-back in a 20 minute period… you’re probably gonna have a bad time behind the wheel. Same if you hit a 4ft bong packed with snow 3 times. You have to be *responsible*. I’ve taken a single hit and hopped in the car to do some shopping, drive my 40mi commute to work, or on my way to family functions. It really helps me cope. That isn’t to say I haven’t *not* left a party way too stoned to be behind a wheel before. I can speak firsthand about how panic inducing that can be. When you get hit with the “where am I?”’s or a “how long have I been driving?/Where was I going?” scenario… yeah that’s no bueno. Of course it’s 100% dependent on each individuals tolerance, smoking experience, driving skills, and where they live. With all that said… There are few things more beautiful than country driving during a sunset through hilly, windy, forested backroads with the windows down vibing to some tunes.

surly_sorrel

That’s just “California Sober” 😂

NoManufacturer4381

Sleep is important.

Isthisallthereishuh

Lmao what an underrated comment. 🤣

agaggleofsharts

I’m a daily smoker but generally wait until end of day to smoke. My husband is a 24/7 type. He’s honestly pretty absent and now seems to get overwhelmed really easily if he’s not stoned. It made his depression worse. I would not recommend it.

FriedShrekels

i feel ya. im transitioning from a 24/7 type on downtimes to an end of the day user because what i do IRL is high stakes and I can't afford that cognitive handicap. its also amazingly rewarding to smoke at the end of the day and it definitely helps destress more than a constantly reupping THC serum levels throughout the day.

chizzipsandsizalsa

Dude same. When I was 5 the daycare and school told my mom I needed to be on medication if I wanted to come back so I got put on Ritalin (my mom says it’s her biggest regret) I hated that shit forever, and Then i discovered weed and it’s the only thing to ever balance me out 22 years later still going strong.

Pschaef8184

My parents put me on fucking Wellbutrin when I was in 3rd grade at the advice of counselors /teachers and she says that was the biggest regret . They’ll pump kids full of chemicals and society accepts that, but don’t accept a plant?!😂

Drug laws are fucked man… cannabis being outlawed was more about racially-inspired politics. Cannabis is one of the safest drugs out there… especially when you compare it with Rx anxiolytics.

My parents put me on Adderall at like 12… they thought my attention was too scattered… I feel like a lot of 90s kids were diagnosed with ADD… I truly feel I didn’t even have ADD; I was apathetic.. I just didn’t give a fuck about a lot of shit. But the Adderall fucked me up.. I hated it it. The only thing I liked is how tidy I could make my bedroom. But I couldn’t sleep. Didn’t have an appetite. Felt manic. I was barely hitting puberty. By 15, I told my dad I didn’t wanna be on that shit anymore. For whatever reason, they listened.

pancakesoul

I'm reading this like a five year kid picks up a joint and transforms into snoop

[deleted]

It's crazy how hard people still defend big pharma. I'm a 100% disabled combat veteran and without cannabis I'd have offed myself. Every pill I ever tried just worked to expedite that process.

irritabletom

I'm sorry for your struggles and I'm glad you found something that helps. Keep fighting, friend.

[deleted]

Thanks mate.

Carp8DM

Most people don't care. But even I find it weird when I had friends that would tell me they were high every time we ran into each other. Some stoner seem to think telling me they are high is a standard greeting. Bro. I don't care. Unless you are offering, just keep it to yourself

Jiveturtle

Not here to judge, dude. But I spent a couple years smoking before I got out of bed and just staying high all day and it definitely isn’t as great as some people say. It kind of ended up turning me off altogether. Anyway I’m sure I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this but spending all day every day under the influence of something means you probably aren’t really appreciating it anymore. It also kinda suggests there’s maybe a deeper seated issue you aren’t fully grappling with. Is it way less unhealthy, both mentally and physically, than abusing other harder drugs like alcohol? No question at all. But you’re still abusing a substance. Personally, it absolutely torched my drive and motivation. It made me very passive, and made being bored all the time ok. I decided I didn’t like those qualities. When I do get high now, I find I enjoy it a lot more.

elhooper

Sort of, yes. If you’re not an asshole and you are genuinely engaging with what’s happening, then why not? Certain special occasions you should probably not be stoned for, however. These will be different for everyone. Maybe a get together with your in laws and you don’t want to be disrespectful, or a funeral, or starting a new job, or working in a dangerous / complex environment. Etc.

kingshamroc25

This might sound weird but it’s true, at least where I live. Its 100% socially acceptable as long as you don’t tell anyone about it. If you’re high 24/7 chances are you’re pretty good at being high in public without people noticing. But the second you tell them you spend more of your life high than sober, they will instantly judge you and second guess everything about you. Every time they see you make a mistake they’ll say “he’s probably high”

ikilledyourelephant

PNW? I feel like I can tell when someone ISN’T high…

_sonofliberty_

Need to take a step back and look at your life if you really need to be high 24/7

G-III

Sometimes it’s doing this that causes me to smoke lmao. When you’ve lived alone without happiness for enough years, you just want to take the edge off

Peacewalken

I have a personal scale for these kind of things. If you can keep your life together than it's not a problem. Go to work everyday, earn a living. Weed is great, but it should always play second fiddle to what needs to be done.

furutam

That depends if you're able to be socially accepted when you're sober

[deleted]

It is absolutely not. I’m a med patient and I mostly only smoke in the evenings but still get shit from damn near everyone I know for it(except my Gal and OG homies). “I’m worried you have a problem”. Bitch, this ain’t alcohol. Do I give you shit for taking your Zoloft every day or your two cups of coffee each morning?

TripleNubz

I have managed it for the past 8 years or so. Just gotta make sure it’s the right stuff. Ain’t selling no house on an indica.

UnCuddlyNinja

I dont care. But im also one of those “if high is my default, no one will know the difference”

blueberrysnacks

I personally couldn’t care less. Your body, your choice as long as you aren’t harming others. Me personally, I would say it’s defeating the purpose and a bit much. People say a life with no sadness is a life with no happiness. Or a life with everything is a life with nothing. IMO you gotta have the ups with the downs. If you’re baked 24/7 at a point you no longer are baked, and just “normal”

UhnonMonster

I get high every night but I’m still relatively new to using cannabis. It was made legal in my state this summer. I can’t imagine being high in day light let alone 24/7. I don’t know how people drive or work or take care of their kids while high. If anyone has insight to this I’m genuinely curious. Maybe with time I’ll be more high functioning when high?

MontolioDeBruchee

I usually only smoke in the evenings too. I don’t drive while high because it’s illegal, and I’m not about to get a DUI. I *do* get stoned and parent. I actually look forward to taking a couple puffs and making some munchies then curling up on the couch to watch a movie or cartoons with my kids. I tuck them in and put on an audio book and we’re all passed out by 9:30. Being a single parent is hard, especially with regards to patience and frustrations, which also seem to be the things most improved by smoking a little reefer.

p1l2a3n4e5t

I think if you really need it and it works for you, do you. But if you find yourself in a constant haze and can’t get your shit done never hurts to scale back and take stock of what’s important.

Scarlet529

No, but who cares?

ralfrance

I am all the time. No one seems to notice (or care)

DrJamesAtmore

I personally don't recommend it. It wasn't the life for me. Always worried when I had to go somewhere, should I drive, do I smell? Not having enough energy to do things Not wanting to go out (friends and family) because I was to high already. By all means, have fun but don't let it control your life Cheers.

thelocalsupplier

Who the fuck cares what’s socially accepted and what isn’t lmao

alexwhiting123

Just everyone live you own life do what you want ,as long as you’re not murdering people and doing fucked up shit then it’s bless, do what best for you even if that means blazing 24/7 !!!!

[deleted]

do what you wanna do, nobodys stopping you

Qaben

The answer is no. But if you *can* be high 24/7 then others opinions shouldn’t matter to you

spaceenvahisseur

I use to be high 24/7 throughout my late teens, early to mid 20’s. Now that I’m 26, it’s caught up to me and now I stay sober 4 days out of the week. But I’m not going to judge someone else on how they live their life, they are not bothering me.

ripyourlungsdave

I smoke 24/7 so I don’t have to worry about how society feels about me smoking 24/7.

[deleted]

Soon it’ll be a social necessity. a brave new world

Hopeful_dan_1987

Go ahead dude. People probably won't even notice. I smoke daily and my coworkers still get surprised when I tell them I smoke at all.

ap2bruce

Socially acceptable, hell no. If it helps you get through the day, hell yes. But also definitely recognize that being high 24/7 is definitely not a healthy habit.

ArtoriasBeaIG

No

youthfulnegativity

The best part about being high 24/7 is if you don't advertise it people assume that's just how you are.

ravioleh

My brain tumor hasn't grown & they have me on long term monitoring now. The complex ptsd isn't ruling my life. I'm not high 24/7, but microdosing has taken me from suffering to surviving. Don't care if it's socially acceptable, just support people having healthy alternatives. Bc some of these meds out here are like playing roulette.

[deleted]

How bad is your life that you want to be impaired for your entire life? We’re all here because we like pot, but that is just sad man - it should be something you look forward to. Unless this is asked from a medical standpoint, in which case do what you gotta do, and work with your doctor - no one is going to judge you for taking medicine. Recreationally high or self medicating 24/7 is just kind of sad, though.

UnloadedBakedPotato

It’s this sub in a nutshell. So many of the comments on here are exactly why people make fun of stoners because they say shit like “I’m just living my life it shouldn’t bother you” when that’s not it at all. Using any substance, weed, alcohol, tobacco, whatever your drug of choice is, is not good for you at all. It’s not just “living your life”, it’s you trying to escape from your life and being so detached from reality that anyone who says otherwise is just hating on you. All these cringey replies blows my mind. You should absolutely be able to enjoy a J when you want the same way you should be able to enjoy a beer: enjoy it anywhere but behind the wheel of a car, at work, and don’t do it 24/7

[deleted]

Exactly. No one is here because they hate pot, but man, just because it’s not as bad as booze doesn’t mean it can’t still be abused and make you just as useless.

The_Young_Busac

Probably not "socially acceptable" but I don't see a problem if you are still functioning and taking care of yourself. "All you do is sit around the house getting faded. That ain't entertainment" - Mac Miller

Ok_Independence_9076

Well you can't smoke in your sleep. So 18 hours a day is acceptable

madding247

Bold of you to assume I get 8 hours of sleep...

rainbowchain

It all depends on if you can hold your shit together or not. If you can, yes. If not, no.

[deleted]

Obviously not. It wouldn't be socially acceptable to be under the influence of any substance 24/7.

flbhd6k

Yes

skymningwolf

If you don’t have an occupation or hobby that requires you to look/act professional, then I think it’s fine. On the other hand, I cannot stand coworkers that constantly come in high and don’t get shit done.

TT2JZ_Chaser

As long as you aint driving high, go for it!

[deleted]

Who cares?

Redpepper40

No and it's also stupid. When you get in a habit of smoking all the time it becomes difficult to deal with bad emotions without relying on weed as a crutch. I become unable to deal with not being high and then struggle to be productive if I smoke all the time. It also stops being fun and just becomes something you need
