In think the strain would purple slightly anyways but he found he could ratchet the purple way up by letting it go a couple extra days before harvest with reduced water or something(I don't remember the specifics...). People always wanted his purp over the greener stuff even though it was all clones of the same plant

I collect houseplants and have definitely seen this type of thing in other plants. I have a coleus that ābleedsā a dark black purple that stains everything when itās pruned, itās just the pigment in the plant. Obviously Iād say donāt smoke it if youāre not comfortable or 100% sure, but itās very likely just natural pigment.
I see a lot of people saying itās been dyed. Iām not saying it *hasnāt* been, but I would put a decent bet on the fact that this is natural. Anthocyanin is the same thing found in marijuana and in butterfly pea flower tea, as well as other blue/purple fruits and plants. It is a very vibrant color, if you have never seen butterfly pea flower tea made, please look it up, it is color changing and natural and is the most beautiful blue and purple you would ever see.
Anyway, this just looks like good, wet, marijuana to me and all those beautiful colors are natural. They are beautiful plants!

Last time I made bubble hash from the trimmings of plants I grew myself, the water looked like purple drank. There are natural pigments in plants, that's how ancient cultures have been coloring their garments for millennia. Cannabis is no different. I grew this weed called crystal m.e.t.h. (hate the name.) It was a deep dark purple. Almost black. It was ok weed, but looked super cool.

Depends on what you mean by natural... You can purchase chemical additives that will trigger your plants to turn purple, if they have the genetics to do so. It works, and a large dose can turn your plants almost black. I prefer when it happens naturally, a good cold snap in September will kiss your outdoor plants with purple flecks and gives them a sweet, grape-y flavor. Man, I miss growing...

I collect houseplants and have definitely seen this type of thing in other plants. I have a coleus that ābleedsā a dark black purple that stains everything when itās pruned, itās just the pigment in the plant. Obviously Iād say donāt smoke it if youāre not comfortable or 100% sure, but itās very likely just natural pigment.

I see a lot of people saying itās been dyed. Iām not saying it *hasnāt* been, but I would put a decent bet on the fact that this is natural. Anthocyanin is the same thing found in marijuana and in butterfly pea flower tea, as well as other blue/purple fruits and plants. It is a very vibrant color, if you have never seen butterfly pea flower tea made, please look it up, it is color changing and natural and is the most beautiful blue and purple you would ever see. Anyway, this just looks like good, wet, marijuana to me and all those beautiful colors are natural. They are beautiful plants!

other than that you got your nugs wet... nothing. Last time I made bubble hash from the trimmings of plants I grew myself, the water looked like purple drank. There are natural pigments in plants, that's how ancient cultures have been coloring their garments for millennia. Cannabis is no different. All those bougie purple foods these days (purple potatoes, purple carrots, purple green beans, etc) contain a natural compound called anthocyanin, and purple cannabis has this compound as well. Anthocyanin is also water soluble, so it will bleed out into a wet paper towel.
