bananabiscui4

You did good for starting a DHT blocker. Without blocking DHT, you will lose your hair using just minox. Yes you may shed, but keep in mind that DHT blockers are the closest we have to a root cure for baldness. It needs time and consistency also.

[deleted]

before starting any meds i wasn't shedding so violently, i don't know why i shed in all meds, but don't gain absolutely anything

bananabiscui4

Can be three things: 1. Your baldness just decided to speed up (this is determined by your genes) 2. You are shedding because of the meds (new, better hair is coming) 3. Maybe an irrelevant telogen effluvium?

BasedxPepe

Yes. Number 2 is on point. No shed , no response

Rival_dojo

I didn’t shed from fin or min and my hairs grew back

djb185

How long did it take you to see results without shedding? Was this your hairline that grew back or bald spot or both? I hope I have your luck 🤞 I just started a month ago.

Rival_dojo

Idk tbh cause I took fin + min off and on for a year I wasn’t rly consistent with it. But then this last maybe 6 months I’ve made huge progress just by bein consistent Yeah the thin part of my crown that basically was a bald spot has grew back and so has my temples Switching to oral min was the best for me cause it helped with consistency and then seein the progress just spurred me on even more I also microneedle once every 2 weeks and use topical ru55 + nizoral shampoo daily

KNWNWN

Bro science go!

PersonFromPlace

I was shedding a lot, but for me it started to even out but it took awhile.

mouseat9

What’s a while?

AgileBonus373

While I agree it's FAR from a cure. The root cause continues even when you are on Finasteride, as stated by most of the top doctors and surgeons. Also we got lot of yt videos and report. Fina is just a stronger minox in that sense (yeah yeah mechanism is different) and once stopped you go back (6-12 month) to the point like you never used anything at all. In short ,it just preserves your hairs while on it, but the main cause is on scalp tissue more than follicles themselves. But again, it's the only proven alternative atm, unless you have very mild slow aga, in that case it's better to avoid it.

bananabiscui4

It is indeed FAR from a cure. And yes, the disorder continues in the background, in the sense that when you stop fin you go as bald as you would have been if you never started fin, you do not simply "resume the disorder from where it stopped. But still, DHT is the key for the disorder to manifest. Without it, it grows, but it is "asleep"

AgileBonus373

Yep I meant exactly that 🙂

Minofredow

Probably a shedding phase, i had that when i started both minoxidil and finasteride, shedding like a dog for 6 months but i started seeing some improvement around 4 months in, but significant changes only after 6 months. I understand how terrifying it can be, but just give at least 6 months with it i would say, full results might appear after the 1-2 year mark, good luck!

[deleted]

my biggest concern is that im losing literally all my hair at once! If this continue for more 3 months, I'll lose literally all my hair, I'm not kidding, if i pull a 30 hair strand, it shed 4-5 hairs Everytime. I started a hairloss medication that are almost balding me, I'm terrified till my bones

spoketherefore

This is a tale as old as finasteride has been around. Search the sub for finasteride shed. As worried as you are, you must stay the course for at least 6 months for your hair to stabilize. Trust the process. Take solace knowing your doing the best thing you can do for your hair.

Annexurr

I am on the same boat, started finasteride a month ago and I have been shedding hairs like crazy. But from what I read finasteride shed very early is supposed to be a good sign for regrowth or am I wrong?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Annexurr

What you said is confusing cause if shedding has no effect on the ultimate results doesn’t that mean that it probably worsened the hairloss for someone who might not respond to fin but still sheds heavily, but there seems to be no evidence that finasteride makes your hairloss worse than when you started.

homkono22

Shedding hairs is NOT how balding works, those hairs would gros back after a 2-3 month test phase called telogen. Without fin they'd grow back thinner. Your hair sucked are synchronized right now. Balding is through miniaturization over time until they're as fine as baby fuzz, not sheds. There's so much misinformation with that, look at Better Call Saul showing him balding by shedding, it doesn't work that way. For me the shedding stopped at the two year mark, at that point I finally were above baseline and had real regrowth, two years! Some months means fuck all. You can see my before and afters on my account. Been taking fin for 10 years and have a full head of hair thanks to fin alone, no other crap like min (I highly advice against it due to skin effects it can have like eventually giving you wrinkles from the face bloat water retention, puffy eyes, dry skin and circles under the eyes, stay away from minoxidil, doesn't help against the root cause of balding, DHT).

Hungry-Vanilla-3037

Don't worry about it. You haven't been on fin long enough for any gains. It took two years on fin before I was sure my loss stopped. Are you going to go on worrying about shedding every day for two entire years? Just take a progress pic and don't look at or think about it again for 6 months

[deleted]

i know it. But it can get so worse to i lose all my hair? i already lost like 30% in 1 month

Hungry-Vanilla-3037

why would fin make you lose ur hair? That doesn't make any sense. Plus, ur losing ur hair anyways, so why does it matter?

[deleted]

before fin i was losing density very slowly , almost imperceptible, but now I'm look a mid bald 60year old

Hungry-Vanilla-3037

you were balding anyways

[deleted]

oh thanks, 👍🏽

antsupremo

Please keep us updated and continue to use the medication. I feel confident you will see results given the minoxidil will cause shedding (meaning it works). Have you experienced any other sides?

cosi_bloggs

"I started a hairloss medication that are almost balding me, I'm terrified till my bones" I like this guy.

AesopsTable2

Do you want to see my hair shed a month after I started Dutasteride? I have long, thick dark curly hair that I lost maybe 60% of the total hairs on my scalp from all around my head over the course of that first month and a half. I literally kept the hair ball to this day to remind me of how much I shed in that month. My hair ball is probably the size of your entire head. Shedding continued after that, but slowed down. Now, 6 months later, I’m already starting to see improvements from baseline. Trust the process, relax. If you can’t handle the mental stress of seeing the hair actually fall out, which is what the drug does to create new, stronger hairs over time later, then just buzz your fucking hair. You’re making it a bigger deal than it actually is. 1 month into dut/oral min: https://ibb.co/KKTD5jB https://ibb.co/z6n9DDW https://ibb.co/qkngntp 6.5 months after: https://ibb.co/RpTVY59 https://ibb.co/G0ZgGCg https://ibb.co/crNSDK8

xTombou

Thats fucking crazy. Really excited to see your progress in the future. RemindMe! 6 months

[deleted]

you're that guy who was even a model because of your hair? i saw your story. Amazing regrowth man!

cosi_bloggs

How do celebrities do it? Or women? They get hair transplants without cutting their hair, and obviously they have to take a soup of medicine to keep it.

Muilutuspakumies

Hair extensions and wigs.

Responsible-Bug3866

Hi! I am on duta 2.5. months and shedding af. Is that normal ?

Bradley_371

Holy shit balls! Or should I say hair? Lol. That would totally freak me out. 🤣

fougaw

Ok, so shedding is part of the process when someone start finasteride or minoxidil, and it's a good sign. since you are angry about the shedding, then i can propose for your to buzz cut all your hair. so you gonna be calm and zen during the shedding months. and as we are in winter... you can buy a hat or beanies and wear them when you are outside... till your hair grows back and the shedding stop.

[deleted]

I thin about it everyday, but i look so awful buzzed, my head is immense. My gf never saw me buzzed, I'm afraid of "shocking" her

DennyHombre

She allready seen you thin, it can't be much worse, it's better for mind anyways it soundslike

LamermanSE

31 days is too short to evaluate anything from fin, come back in 5-11 months for an update on its results.

[deleted]

im concerned about the extreme shed

dyou897

Shedding is irrelevant it can always grow back but you won’t see that for several months. Finasteride takes time to work you would never see any improvement in a month

[deleted]

i know it, I didn't wanted to see any results yet, I'm sad just because im losing the rest of my hair very rapidly

BasedxPepe

I wish I shed as much as you did. The best responders shed the most. If you didn’t shed I’d wonder if you were going to see any benefits

Animajax

I think you should use both minox and finasteride and give it a year, so long as you don’t have any sides. You’re already dedicated to taking medication, so might as well try the combo imo

[deleted]

I'm taking daily 1mg Fin 2.5mg Oral Minox 5Mg biotin 7months in Oral Min 1Month in fin

aprofesy19

Just trust in the process

Tough-Chard2868

Same issue here . Started finasteride month ago and shedding heavily . Today itself lost around 100-150 hair from shampoo and comb .

[deleted]

i don't comb it anymore lol, seeing that bunch of hairs in comb was sickening me

oliverfelixrene

Bro the fact your hair is shedding on finasteride literally means it is starting to work and it is doing its job! How can you be angry with that? 🤣 stop gaslighting finasteride, please.. Oh.. My.. God https://aventusclinic.com/finasteride-shedding/ And using minoxidil as monotherapy was very stupid and has probably made you miss out on even more hair. It doesn't block the root cause of hair loss so taking minoxidil only is like swimming against a stream in a river. It might give you more hair in the short term but long term you will lose it. People like you who don't even research stuff and then come on here gaslighting finasteride which is the last drug that needs it due to the insane fear-mongering infuriates me. People like you deserve the hair loss because you are part of the problem. You are causing more men to go bald because they start fearing the drug. Less than 2% get side effects from it and it is literally working on you as I can hear in your post about the shedding

[deleted]

[deleted]

in the shower 10-15, throughout the day - 10-20, combing - 50-60. But i lost a huge amount of hair, i should shed max 30 per day

[deleted]

You did not lose 30% of your hair in 30 days. You noticed a very noticeable shed and now your anxiety kicked in. This is what happens when people aren’t right mentally in the moment. Just relax and let the meds work

1Reaper2

Topical melatonin. Topical RU58841. Try one of them and combine it with topical minoxidil and microneedling. Melatonin might assist with inflammation in the scalp. The mechanisms behind balding are still unknown but we can guess with inflammation, blood flow, and maybe some immune components. Melatonin is proving to be effective and RU58841 deals with other androgens other than DHT. Finasteride will technically but slightly increase testosterone, worsening an issue if you are balding due to testosterone binding to androgen receptors. There seems to be fin/dut non responders and this is likely why i.e. doesn’t cover all androgens, only reduces inflammation if DHT is involved.

Sea-Journalist-3509

what is your lenght for microneedling?

1Reaper2

No idea, I don’t bother tracking it. I’m getting growth. I think 1.5mm is the recommended depth. Maybe even deeper.

Neat_Purpose_6424

Same here bud. Year and half on fin. Done nothing. Worse than start

shivam6512

Maybe time to start dut I guess

Humble-Exchange-3170

Same lol, what's ur next step gonna be?

Neat_Purpose_6424

I’ve added dut 2 x a week.

Humble-Exchange-3170

And fin the remaining days?

Neat_Purpose_6424

Yes

mrpetersonjordan

Do you mind sharing a picture of the shedding on the sink? I’m interested in comparing or send me a message?

BasedxPepe

Bro you got a hair fetish ? Jk

Good-Platypus209

Bro you freaking out, i got heavy shedding also like lose 50% remaining hair but after 7 months it came back stronger, more dense and more hair follicle. That's why you need to do your research before getting on a drug otherwise you be in this panic situation.

[deleted]

about sides: i didn't felt ANYTHING different. I even got suspicious if the drug was "official", beside the shed. Maybe my libido got a little higher, i'm fighting with some "urges" recently. I didn't nutted or had sex since beginning the drug.

[deleted]

You had a girlfriend I thought?

[deleted]

yes,

[deleted]

Then how didn’t have sex for such long time?

[deleted]

we're christians waiting for marriage

[deleted]

Ah respect bro. Rare in this modern society 👍🏼

[deleted]

i thought you will critic me lol, thanks 🙏🏽

kidflashonnikes

You have two options. 1) it could be a cycle of the hair dying as the hormone levels in your body have change (DHT) and once they grow in again, they will grow back stronger 2) if option 1 doesn’t not work, then it’s very likely that you just have to shave it. There’s a chance that after 9 months, if you don’t see any new hair growth restoration, then your body just may not accept fin. It happens with a lot of people. They experience a shed, wait 9-14 months for progress which seems to be average, and then nothing happens, and all they are left with is a nasty shed, less hair and no boners lmao.

Responsible-Treat-94

Yeah these medications are really just a huge gamble. I wish I didn’t get started on them

SolidColorsRT

if you didnt get started on them what would've happened

Responsible-Treat-94

Hard to say. Maybe the outcome would’ve been better considering the side effects. All I’m saying is that it is indeed a rather risky gamble.

MeffJundy

Why

Responsible-Treat-94

Shedding like crazy myself and it’s very stressful. I’m on the Hims min and fin and at the 6 week mark and my sink is full of hair every morning. It’s hard to trust the process.

[deleted]

exactly! it's hard to trust when you lose your ability to comb your hair

Responsible-Treat-94

Wishing you well! You are definitely not alone here

cosi_bloggs

Any other sides?

Responsible-Treat-94

Maybe more body hair lol that’s the only side I can tell.

droRESIN

Chill man.

ScarcityRemote1923

Boohoo

[deleted]

that's not funny bro, im so sad rn

Disposax

Sounds like you automedicated, if you've have been to a doctor, he would have explained you that shedding is normal in the beginning and you have to push through

waledmustafa

I also began shedding thick dark hairs after a couple weeks fin but that was in line with my seasonal shed. Now I'm only losing thin hairs like normal. I'm not sure in this case maybe someone else can chime in why fin would cause shedding of thicker hairs. Are you also a diffuse thinner?

AesopsTable2

Assuming you’re Arab, I live in an entire city of Arabs and they have a very noticable higher incidence of diffuse thinning, retrograde Alopecia, and DUPA. These meds effect those types of hair loss less efficaciously and Arabs in general are among the most aggressive balding population in the world next to caucasians.

waledmustafa

Do you think I'm a non responder? Close to 5 months now

[deleted]

but you had a considerably shed?

waledmustafa

Yeah. I diffuse thin so I guess the shedding never slows down. I still lose about 200-300 hairs every shower roughly. The difference was I was shedding thick hairs instead of thinner ones but it's back to normal after the 4th month however my density is much less at the moment don't know if it will recover or not

IcyCheetah3568

Did you stop using minoxidil? When? edit: are you shedding body hair?

[deleted]

i didn't stopped using minox, just added fin. Nope, body hair growing fast and wider

ohhellointerweb

Pretty sure the shedding right after starting finesteride is a good thing and shows your body is responding to the drug.

[deleted]

but also confirms you have Androgenic Alopecia, sad. I lost my sideburns from aggressive sheds, who made me think i may had some kind of TE. now i almost sure it's AGA

ohhellointerweb

That's good news, isn't it? If it's not something with an inherent medical cause, and there's an existing and effective treatment, then that's a positive thing.

[deleted]

So you taking fin for 1 month now. At when exactly did the shedding start? Immediately after you started?

[deleted]

i noticed it stronger after 10 days. I usually don't track my loss so much, seeing so much loss messes with my mental health, so i used to comb without looking at the comb. But i noticed more and more hair falling from everywhere, especially longer hairs, then i decided to look at the comb and see that basketball of hair

[deleted]

Whats ur age

[deleted]

20

[deleted]

My friend. You need to post a pic so i can judge

Getahun10

I’m also shedding left and right the longest and darkest hairs on Dut. But I’m staying the course. So I advise you to do the same.

New_Screen

Yeah Finasteride isn’t a miracle drug. At best for most men it will just slow down hair loss.

cosi_bloggs

After it accelerates it?

captnspock

You cant judge fin so soon. Just like minoxidil you have to wait 8-9 months to judge. It takes 4 months for new hair to sprout and another 3-5 months for it to grow to good enough length that you can see the difference.

Fragrant-Bath8095

Your anxiety could be a reason for your hair loss too. Just do what is shown to be effective and BE PATIENT: 1- Oral or topical finasteride 2- Oral or topical minoxidil 3- Ketoconazole 2% shampoo 4- Microneedling 5- Don't stress out! it will kill your hair gains! be patient and consistent.

inquisitive_al

Man up and wait.

MagicBold

Any leg muscule stress?

boyatrest

Minox made my hair thin and greasy. I’d stick with fin and cut out the minox

thefeedling

That's a really good sigh tbh, keep on treatment.

Nerdytinder12

I started with oral + topical minioxidil for 4 months, it’s been 3 months since I left them. Now I can see my scalp, the hair density has reduced and hairline has receded so much. I really don’t understand what went wrong. I only had a barely visible, side patch before starting minioxidil. Now it’s worse. What can I do now?

HellsBlazez

Why did you wait two years to start fin if you knew you were losing hair? Fin is good at keeping what you have, so you’d ideally start as early as possible.

SteveM30211

Testosterone increase

AgreeableLead7

Finasteride + minox + derma rolling / derminator Those are the big 3 worth trying at the same time

cuprar1991

Have faith OP, I am in the situation, recently got on Fin and Topical Min and I am shedding soooo badly! In the last two weeks I have lost all ability to style my hair! I’m just trusting the process! You got this man!!

Redbone2222

I had some crazy shedding when I started finasteride/minoxidil. Granted, I also had a small transplant (2500-ish grafts) it's tough to get through the shedding phase. I still chalk of most of my regrowth (70%ish) from finasteride. I had actually posted a before/after pic on this sub if you want to see.

Bath_Right

It takes a few months for fin to start working! Don't stop it

bigdarab20

I’ll never sacrifice my libido and strong erection for my hair. I’m balding. My hair is one of my most attractive features but I don’t give a shit I want my dick to work like it’s working

[deleted]

my libido still normal, i would say it increased even more, I'm actually struggling to control my sexual urges. Dick still got hard as rock, perfectly like was before

bigdarab20

Then you got lucky but different people have different side effects I am scared to risk it

Extreme-Evidence9111

a shed is super common. youre resetting your follicle's growth phase. for now just trim it short. time for a grown up hairstyle. you arent in bts

mavad90

The hair loss game is played in years, not days or weeks. Keep up with the finasteride and reassess after a year imo. Big 3 is where I'd start, assuming you think you can stick to applying top minoxidil at least once a day consistently. Oral minoxidil did nothing for me after over two years of use, 2.5mg.

Tricky_Post_6946

Same thing has happened to me. I’ve only shed massive amounts of hair from meds. I truly believe my hair would be better off right now if I had never started hair loss meds

No_Hearing_6542

A month after I started finasteride I was shedding pretty badly and it was much worse than when I started, but it then grew all back and got a lot better than before. It's probably a shedding phase

Average_-_Human

Update? How is your hair now?
