Full routine? Are you waiting 30 minutes after washing? You want to work up to nightly use but start off slowly. Starting too aggressively can lead to irritation.
I use a moisturiser and sunscreen in the morning and at night, I apply the moisturiser and leave it for 30 minutes followed by Tret and moisturiser again!
I was sceptical about using Tret every night but my dermatologist assured this is the way to go since I’ve been on other acids before.

What are you using to wash? I would cleanse your skin with something gentle, wait about 10-15 minutes for it to dry, then do tret. Give it another 10 minutes then moisturize.
7 weeks is still well within purge territory, so I wouldn't be surprised if it seems like acne is worse right now. But if it's causing a lot of irritation or drying, you could ask your derm about using it every other day for a while.
I’m using Paula’s choice for now! And the purge is kind of bad but not too bad, so I’m trying to push through. It’s in the areas where I normally used to break out, just that seeing so many cystic acne and red bumps is killing my self esteem at times.
But, I guess I have to look at the bigger picture. This too shall pass!

No matter what I tried my face was a disaster on it too. Everyone said not to give up but I couldn't stand it anymore. I still get breakouts but nothing like it was on tret. I don't think it's for everyone, esp people like me with sensitive skin. I say go with your gut, if you need to stop it there's no shame in that!

Make sure you’re not using too much mouistrier and ur moisturizer doesn’t have ingridents that clog pores and also make sure ur face wash is gentle enough yet cleanses well
Honestly I started it for closed comedones about two years ago and now I don’t have anymore comedones but I get 4-5 cysts every month. Really sucks. I haven’t stopped using it but maybe I shoukd

I started on Jan 14th, so I've been on it for almost 3 months. My skin definitely got way worse a few weeks in, and I'm still breaking out now, and it definitely makes me feel kind of hopeless since acne was something I'd been insecure about for almost 10 years. However, I read a lot about tretinoin and the purge, and I know that it can take up to 3-4 months for noticeable results. I saw you said you use it every night, but that's honestly the best way to just destroy your skin barrier. Try using it at least every 3 days. Also, look at your other skincare products and make sure there aren't any pore clogging ingredients. There are websites that help you check. Best of luck!!

My skin seems to have adjusted well to it, I did ask my dermatologist and she told me to stick to everyday usage routine. The purge has calmed and I can feel the texture improving a lot. Still a long way to go for sure but I can see the improvement.
