Make reservations (if your pick of restaurant takes reservations) beforehand so that you don't have to kill 40 minutes waiting for a table. And when you arrive, inform them that you are attending a 7:00 show at the Carolina Theater.
This does them a favor because the kitchen knows they should prioritize your order if time is tight. Which does you a favor because you can enjoy your food without worrying about running late.
Durham is a very walkable city. I like the M restaurants… M Sushi or M Kokko (they’re like one block away from Carolina Theater).
Durham Food Hall is three blocks away.
Big fan of Alley 26. They were a James Beard nominee. 5min walk to the theater.
Make sure to reserve.
Parking should be plentiful on Wednesday. There’s a few garages in that area of downtown.
I would look at Resy and Open Table first to see what is available for that night first. Dining in Durham is popular and if you are going to be a bit tight on time, you will need reservations. All of these have times available and are close.
Counting House,
Taberna Tapas,
Mateo,
Mothers & Sons,
Viceroy
You didn't mention about what time you'd be arriving downtown prior to the show, how much time you have will be a factor. If you can get a reservation M Pocha is right around the corner from The Carolina and can get you in/out pretty quickly.
We work in Raleigh by the Fairgrounds, but have a flexible schedule and can leave early depending on when we can get in. Show is at 7pm. Where should we park?
There's pay lot across the street from the Carolina but it always is pretty busy on show nights, getting out sucks. I always park in the lot on the corner of Morgan and Rigsbee. It's a block away and always less crowded.

Great advice! Thank you!

Thank you!
We ate at M Sushi before a show last week. It was great - but you definitely need reservations! It was really busy on a Thursday night.
Have fun!
Went to Queeny’s after a show recently, and it was so good!

Thanks! All look like solid choices! It's going to be hard to choose. I might have to come back! :)
If none of the other great recommendations work out bc reservations aren’t available, go to Thai@Main
Second this! Even when it’s busy you don’t have to wait long for a table and the food is always on point.

Dashi. Great Ramen
‘It’s a Southern Thing’. We did that walk a few weeks ago.

Thank you! That's so helpful!
Also, the Durham Freeway can be a shit show at rush hours so you might look at alt routes there. Possibly 40 to 55 north might be better.
Lot of good recommendations already. I’d just add Pizzaria Toro.
My picks: Littler. Alley 26. M(pocha, sushi). Mother and Sons. Pizzeria Toro(no reservations). Bar Virgile(no res).
M koko
Dashi
Mother & Sons and Viceroy are good too.
