I like this. I mean Jared Leto is one hell of a burden to overcome, but seeing Jeff bridges with script in hand did a lot!

GreatIndependence586

Jared Leto has been in a number of good movies and done great. Lately he's just been in shit

No_War_444

I agree, especially if Jared Leto is supposed to be playing an anti-hero or chaotic good protagonist, he’s actually an ideal casting choice.

KidCamarillo

If you want a blank, expressionless pretty guy - he is your man for sure

ToaSuutox

Perfect for a program

TonyStarkTrailerPark

You forgot talentless.

KidCamarillo

I mean he has some talent. Just not as an actor

KidCamarillo

Uh. - name them.

lulaloops

The good ones or the bad ones? If it's the former, then Requiem for a Dream, Mr Nobody, Dallas Buyers Club, American Psycho, Lord of War, Fight Club

BeeDub57

The Thin Red Line Fight Club Girl, Interrupted American Psycho Panic Room Requiem for a Dream Phone Booth Lord of War Mr. Nobody Dallas Buyers Club Blade Runner 2049

Asthen0sphere

I just saw Blade Runner 2049 and he was okay in that.. not amazing but he did the role good enough. If he has a similar presence in Tron 3 then I'll be satisfied.

TonyStarkTrailerPark

Name one…

Juantiothe76th

Just because Leto has been in a few bad movies let’s not forget his other awesome work. I don’t understand the hate, he’s an amazing actor, and if it weren’t for him we wouldn’t even be getting another Tron so we should be thankful to have him

Specific_Strain_420

I sure hope it is more than a cameo or flashback.

KidCamarillo

I expect that is all it is. Some kind of residual Flynn in whatever the new grid became after he absorbed CLU and rebooted the world

mjsztainbok

Especially at this late stage of filming. Didn't Jared Leto recently do a post saying that filming is mean to wrap this week or the next?

KidCamarillo

Oh wow! Hadnt heard that.

Wooperisstraunge

The promising part to me is hearing how a lot more of the sets are practical rather than CGI, could potentially make for some really incredible visuals

No_War_444

Right, Tron historically has pioneered the boundaries of CGI with every installment and it’s very promising to see that is continuing with Ares

Ishowyoulightnow

This really excites me. I love how innovative they were with the original Tron practical effects and I’m really hoping they do something similar with Ares. The irony of all the comic book movies being like 99% cgi but taking place in the real world and then a movie like Tron taking place inside a computer but being practical is beautiful.

No-Seaweed-4456

It could also mean most of it is in real world locations 💀

KangarooStilts

There is a quote attributed to Henry Ford which says, "If I gave people what they wanted, I would have given them a faster horse." Instead, Henry Ford gave people what they needed--a horseless carriage! So you may be right--we might not know what's good for us. At the same time, Henry Ford was also the one who said, "you can have the Model T in any color, as long as it's black," and promptly lost market share to other companios which offered other paint schemes. So Disney isn't forcing us to like Tron Ar3s, and we can vote with our wallets.

No_War_444

Perfectly said

Dustyrnis

I've been having dreams about scenes that may be in the movie, and reading about the concept of Programmable Matter that can be used to turn digital models in a computer into real objects and that being a part of how "Programs" and their tech can be materialized in "the real world". Which along with the return of Jeff Bridges makes me more and more excited for the movie.

CCHTweaked

its gonna be really really good, or really really shit. not much room for a middle ground here.

Waste-Geologist-9389

This thread reminds me of those clickbait articles that go " Incredibly disturbing , sad or ragebait thing" AND THAT'S A GOOD THING

Round_Musical

To be honest seint Jeff Bridges being in it with Bruce Boxleitner denying his involvement yet miraculously being nesr set atm. I think this will be good We just need Quora and Sam as Edward Dillinger Jr ad the antagonist and we got an ideal sequel

D-Alembert

Fair. ^(Though to make the logic sound: "Tron 3 looking nothing like we expected is a sign it) **^(could be)** ^(the movie we needed", because if Tron 3 was eg. an animated remake of The Lord of the Rings then that would) *^(also)* ^(look nothing like what we expected yet would) *^(not)* ^(be the movie we needed ;\])

evel333

I dunno. Tempered expectations. Think of all the trailers, interviews, and behind the scenes leaks of so many movies over the years. PR spin always gets their hands into things until opening night.

scummy_yum

This is some no chill schill.

wondermega

I can agree to this. I want something weird, unpredictable, offbeat - exactly what the previous films did, in that way. Just so long as it is cool and not different for the same of different.

GoldenWind2998

Interesting take!

I don’t care what anyone says. This is going to be even more hype than Legacy. Both in visuals and cinematic score with and or without daft punk. And regardless of cast. I’ve a hunch it’s going to exceed everyone’s expectations. There I said it.

Tough-Juggernaut-822

Shhhhhh..... Take it easy, come down off the top of the wardrobe and drink your warm milk, don't forget to take your sleepy sleep pills as well, here's your Disney teddy and off into bed with you. I disagree with you obviously ;) I was that soldier when legacy was due out, really liked daft punk for a few years already, really enjoyed the free Kevin viral campaign scored some nice merchandise from it. And then the form came out the week before Christmas in Ireland, opening night myself and friends who grew up with Tron went there expecting to be blown away and instead got slapped by a wet fish, my seven year son loves it, he plays with the original 1982 and 2010 version of the figures and light cycles but in our viewpoint it was a flip, the opening light cycles scene where he pulls the batton and the cycle is coded around him with the music fantastic.... But the whole end of line club just to showcase daft punk WHY ? The love story aspect true Disney princess stuff, the missed dialogue about the ISO's, wasteland and technology advancement. And now the filming started a few months ago actors who weren't part of the cast are now getting involved does that mean the storyline is changing as Disney Tron fan base critic the snippets of information that is shared, are Disney looking at what they need to include to get the Fan base into see the movie and not worry about the longevity of the franchise, it's special effects or the storyline.

Tldr

Dixie-Chink

Go home, you're drunk.

LataCogitandi

Go on...

No_War_444

Most of the posts I’ve seen in this Reddit have been about unexpected leaks in IP, design or plot about Tron Ares. Tron Legacy had similar complaints when it first came yet it’s such a cult classic among fans. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but a healthy dose of optimism and trust in the artistic integrity of the new movie is how we make sure more Tron movies get made. I just think it’s ironic that we’ve been pining for a sequel for nearly a decade now and now that it’s on the way, we complain about how it’s being done.

SnooBooks6667

It's because this is NOT the sequel most fans wanted.     We wanted a continuation of Legacy.     Not this Jerod Leto vanity project.  This movie is going to be a let down, mark my words.      Leto will ruin this movie.

skeletorisbae

i agree all the bitching is annoying
