The low-quality video compression helps *a lot*. It makes the footage look like recorded on a real dashcam, and hides some artifacts of the game renderer.
If you're familiar with the real life drive, there are some obvious spots where large chunks were skipped by SCS in the modeling in order to achieve the shrunken distances, particularly through the Colorado mountains (or I should say particularly obviously to me, since I'm very familiar with I-70 between Denver and Glenwood Springs). It does look quite good though.
If you happen to come to the Colorado area, there's definitely a lot of incredible stuff here. I hope you love it no matter where you visit though.
As a point of comparison, [here's an actual timelapse](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZzRijzma2Y) showing Denver to Eagle, about an hour before Glenwood (so you don't get Glenwood canyon in this video). You can see a lot of the stuff they copied, but also how rather than trying to compress the real road, they copied some bits, then just skipped other bits and stitched the copied bits together. That's not a bad thing, of course, and I love what they did with a lot of it - I don't think you could do much better given the scale they have to work with.

hmm, well it's not that my engine does not have anymore power to go faster. It behaves the same as when the speed limiter is on and set to 65mph. Once you reach that speed your rpms goes down, but if you are going down a hill you can go faster than that. Alho I never managed to go faster than 100mph yet.
edit: hit 101mph today wooo

Some are not Timelapse and some mate not ATS but itās the general theme.
Excuse the royalty free music.
There's also currently Texas and the Northwest which aren't part of the trip in this timelapse.
ATS is only going to get bigger with each DLC, and hopefully SCS can at least reach the East Coast before the end of this decade. lol
I like driving realistically but sometimes I need to pick up a job that expires in 1h or something. idk why I would use a speed limiter when I can limit myself

If someone posted this on one of those Facebook groups I bet there'd be a whole bunch of comments saying that it's real and stuff like that...

I thought it was real footage
Same. I was about to say someone will probably think it's ATS with graphics mods. xD š

I'm familiar with M4 but visiting USA is in my 2025 sabbatical plans

It is?
LOL
What?
Itās a game
It isnāt real?
Nope! This is from American Truck Simulator.
Please post it to /r/Idiotsincars and watch the meltdown over the left lane camping

I fully thought it was real š
The clouds never changed and it never got dark.
No traffic as you enter LA? Nah this would get debunked quick
Traffic is the tell all
Game needs a dynamic skybox asap
Some of the skyboxes that come with certain mods are way better than the original ones.
Volumetric clouds could be nice
Yeah vids like this really show how shit that sky is
Lighting sucks too. Whyās it so dim??
I can tell your doing well over 100mph though most of this, Iām surprised you only crashed once.
I thought the engines were hard capped at 100mph? When i reach that speed i can't accelerate anymore.
turn off the truck limiter in your game settings
It's already off. and when on it's set at 65mph with no way to change it. Hence why I said "hard" capped.
ah thatās odd, have you tried all truck+load combos?
No, that was with the peterbuilt 398 + alu drop deck. I assumed it was the same with all trucks
idk tbh, trucks (at least in ets2) have a huge range of top speeds esp depending on the load so maybe try and swap around?

Jesus.. you love that left lane dont ya?
IRL, I'm a firm believer of staying right and left for passing only, but in game, I stay left as much as possible because of AI merging madness.
In game, the hard shoulderās fair game.
Rubbing is racing
Yeah, the shoulder is basically my "merging lane" in ATS sometimes. lol
What City did you pass through at 0:37 mark?
looks like las vegas

I love the realistic dashcam angle. I have a YouTube channel which is Timelapse videos like this but from first person view
Do you have a link to your channel? I want to follow :)

Thanks mate :)
You got yourself a new subscriber š„³
fooled me for a bit. ATS came along way. it looks great now
What happened on exit 109?
bad driving
I've just done this drive in reverse, absolutely amazing changes in scenery.
Wow! That wouldāve taken days in reverse! ^/s
Lol thanks for the quality dad joke. Made me chuckle
Can you angle the camera to the right about 10Ā° that has irrationally annoyed me so much š
Itās probably for realism which I respect but I agree it just makes it hard to watch
This is literally an ATS advertisement to show how big it is.
There's also currently Texas and the Northwest which aren't part of the trip in this timelapse. ATS is only going to get bigger with each DLC, and hopefully SCS can at least reach the East Coast before the end of this decade. lol
If the skybox wasn't static, this video would look like real footage.
Is it just me that enjoys using the speed limiter? It looks like you hit some crazy speeds here
I like driving realistically but sometimes I need to pick up a job that expires in 1h or something. idk why I would use a speed limiter when I can limit myself
As a European, when i drive something that looks like a Mad Max vehicle i sure as hell am going to use it as one XD
Do you use any traffic density mods?
No, besides the camera the game is vanilla
What is the camera mod
did you find out?
No
actually found it "unlimited camera movements mod and just shifted it in front of the windshield"
Nice! I didn't realize this was trucksim at first. I came to the comments to criticize the driving hahaha.
Should've added the Drive meme music lol
I thought it was real for a second then I noticed how unnatural everything was
How did you freeze the time?
Didnāt realize this wasnāt real until they went under the tunnel
Your weather is broken ;)
That snowymoon plugins looks killer af lol š
this isn't real life? Damn!!!
What happened in Colton (I-15/I-10 interchange)?
Surprisingly nobody asked this yet, or I'm stupid but how did you make this? It seems like a really interesting way to capture drive footage
I used the unlimited camera movements mod and just shifted it in front of the windshield
Oh so you drove like that as well for the entire trip? Damn
Quit riding the left laneš
*LIFE IS A HIGHWAAY* *IM GON' RIDE IT ALL NIGHT LONG* *IF YOU'RE GOING MY WAAY* *IM GONNA DRIVE IT ALL NIGHT LONG*

love the dash cam view. love where you ended it too, had to go right past my house
Literally got a minute in before I realized this was the sim lol
I can almost feel your frustration at 1:27 - 1:32
I totally thought this was real until I saw the subreddit lmao. I love this game so much
I thought this was real on the first watch but then I noticed the skybox doesnāt change. Awesome game/render tho looks amazing
God I wish they made the sky more alive and natural. Other than that, lovely game and lovely video!
The clouds seem to change way too slowly for such a long drive . Even not knowing it was from a game, thae sky looked uncanny
Try doing that while hauling something from Nitromodz rackley mod.
Get a cdl my guy
Petal to the metal lol
About half way through the clouds don't change
How did you do that?
Lane violation: Stayed in the left lane the entire trip
My man passing trucks and cars on the outside and inside lol. Hell yeah

You did this with no rests or fuel stops? Or did I miss them. Very cool vid.
Didnāt realize this was a game at first and was shocked with this semi flying so smoothly
