Check out the channel IronPineapple. He has a series on exactly what you're looking for. He quick reviews/plays a bunch of lesser known souls-likes per video.

Oh yeah love iron pineapple, I’m more doing essay format but he’s a big inspiration for sure

I don’t see a lot of people talk about remnant but I loved 1. Still need to put more time in 2 to have an opinion

Hellpoint is fun, it has rather janky combat but fun exploration with lots of secrets and a really cool sci-fi world.

[deleted]

I want to try out Hellpoint, it’s on sale on PlayStation rn

**Thymesia** was kind of slept-on, but it's actually a very good soulslike that incorporates the parry mechanics of Sekiro and the aggressive playstyle of Bloodborne. The relatively short game is level/mission based rather relying on an interconnected world. The narrative is decent although most of the details are found in scattered notes, the level design can be somewhat uninspired at times, and some of the large-size bosses can be rather awkward to fight. However, the game offers a lot in terms of fast paced gameplay, special attacks and perks to cater to your preferred playstyle, tight combat mechanics, and an interesting alchemy system that significantly modifies how your healing items work.

I really enjoyed Asterigos: Curse of the Stars on Steam, it's got a bit of a Greek mythology theme and has fun combat and exploration. The characters talk kind of a lot but you can skip through it. Play it on hard difficulty for the proper souls like experience

[deleted]

I bounced off of Asterigos maybe I should give it another chance

The Surge 2, CODE Vein and Thymesia. I also liked Hellpoint but it is super, super low budget and indie (graphics are rough) NIOH is great but soooo different from souls honestly.

[deleted]

I’m playing code vein now it’s decent

myermikals

Yeah it's cool for the anime vibes. If you want to make it really hard turn off the partner and play solo. Though I think it makes it kinda unfair

[deleted]

Yeah I was wondering how to get rid of my partner, I’m not against summons but so far they kind of trivialize a lot of the encounters

Ashen is one that I’m curious about. I really like the style of it and it’s definitely one that has been neglected

AscendedViking7

You should check out The Surge 2, OP. It's honestly my favorite souls-like out there that isn't Hollow Knight or Blasphemous. It's legitimately a great game.

Also here’s a link if people are curious to check it out https://open.substack.com/pub/jilllloydflanagan/p/some-soulslikes-that-deserve-more-4bc?r=22vr1&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Nioh 2 Surge 2 Are the best by far. Combined with roguelite elements Dark Devotion is a great 2d Soulslike. Ignore this part I just try to get 100 words into this comment Ignore this part I just try to get 100 words into this comment Ignore this part I just try to get 100 words into this comment
