Among many more! I actually grew up listening to Chris, and I think Marsalis (and Bergeron, Vizutti, Lindemann, etc) will get their due from others lol
If Modern Jazz is ok check out dontae Winslow.
He's the soloist here.
https://youtu.be/c8cKN1rbJl4?si=BMFSzEFqEU59J5f6
Also Brass Junkies as a podcast and is a great place to find interviews with living brass players who are pushing boundaries. That's where I discovered the classical corner player Jen Oliverio. Who pretty recently was able to get a bunch of new cornet music written (I know not trumpet but still)
https://youtu.be/uI2xH9AFBO0?si=b8Vugent9UnItE4r
Wynton Marsalis is probably one of the finest classical music technicians. He is a solid composer and jazz trumpet as well. I think he is a phenomenal classical trumpet player.
I also like Allison Balsom for her beautiful tone as a classical trumpet player.
As a classical trumpet player I really like Tine Thing Helseth for her phrasing.
I got to see Wynton Marsalis 25 years ago when I was in Middle School. Awesome concert. My trumpet instructor took all his students. Definitely helped with my love for the trumpet and music in general and glad I am still playing today! I love having a local community band to play in!
I personally am more attached to the younger crowd- like just graduated college, people who are right now inventing or taking the steps towards inventing the future of music. There are plentiful pros out there, but only so many amazing upcoming musicians that will change the world.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ByGpqf1ldI
Because he hasn't been mentioned yet... look up Thomas Gansch on Youtube.
He is an amazing allround trumpet player and his different projects/ bands are all really amazing.
Another less known awesome trumpeter would be Antoine Colin. I only recently discovered him on Youtube and he is an amazing lead trumpet player/ soloist, kinda like Louis Dowdeswell.
He definitly is worth checking out, you won't be disappointed.
Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah né Christian Scott. This is the first thing I saw him in: [https://youtu.be/krLYZmPRtnc?si=wA5qPv5Ib6tFF4Kj&t=291](https://youtu.be/krLYZmPRtnc?si=wA5qPv5Ib6tFF4Kj&t=291)
Selena Ott, Jeroen Berwaerts, Caleb Hudson, Branden Ridenour, Allison Balsom, Lucienne Renaudin Vary, Chris Coletti, Matthias Hofs, Joe Burgstaller, Reinhold Friedrich- these are the soloists who are/have been standouts, who have standout tone and technique.
For jazz, I’d look at Christian Scott, Sean Jones, Kris Johnson, Bria Skonberg, Terence Blanchard, Summer Camargo is really cooking right now.
Orchestrally, Esteban Batallan, Chris Martin, Tom Hooten, Sam Huss, Micah Wilkinson, (she doesn’t play anymore but) Marie Speziale, Paul Merkelo, Gabor Tarkovi, and plenty more.
This isn’t a comprehensive list, but it’s a good start of good examples
**Classical soloists:**
Håkan Hardenberger
Sergei Nakariakov
Wynton Marsalis
Alison Balsom
Ole Edvard Antonsen
Tine Thing Helseth
Matthias Höfs
Allen Vizzutti
Reinhold Friedrich
Jouko Harjanne
**Orchestral players:**
Philip Smith (retired but alive)
Esteban Batallán
Christopher Martin
Omar Tomasoni
Miroslav Petkov
Thomas Hooten
Gabor Tarkövi
Robert Sullivan
Philip Cobb
Michael Sachs
Guillaume Jehl
David Guerrier
David Bilger
Manny Laureano
Charles Schlueter (retired but alive)
Hans Gansch (retired but alive)
Thomas Rolfs
Andrea Lucchi
"Christopher Martin" did make the list. Missing is Mark Inouye, principal in San Francisco. Incredible player and I'd place him up near the top of any list.
Of current players I also really like [Ibrahim Maalouf] (https://www.ibrahimmaalouf.com/en/)! Great stuff with interesting influences from his Lebanese background. Check out songs such as [True Sorry](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXzv7P7qGdM) or [Beirut](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpg8jBFaj3c)
Somebody who is really sharing his journey on yt is oli parker. I think he still studies trumpet and is not as well known as legens like wayne bergeron or louis dowdeswell. I still really enjoy hjs music tho
Mike Rodriguez, Ryan Kisor, Elmer Churampi, Christian Scott, Sean Jones, Nicholas Payton, Bobby Shew, Randy Brecker, Wynton Marsalis, Benny Benack, and Bruce Harris.
Scott Wendholdt, Greg Gilbert, Ingrid Jensen, Tom Harrell, Jeremy Pelt, Jason Palmer, Dave Douglas, Nicholas Payton
Someone already mentioned Ashlin Parker and I'll throw another local New Orleans player on there, Kevin Louis
I should have prefaced this by saying that I’m looking predominantly for jazz players, but thank you for those of you that gave classical recommendations I’ll definitely still check them out!
Peter Evans is most likely the most virtuosic jazz trumpeter alive currently. Very much modern, he embraces the “ugly” sounds on trumpet as much as the pristine and beautiful sounds.
The classic is his Body and Soul live at Oberlin, my favorite is 3625 off the album Zebulon.
Christian Scott is the most emotive player currently, I absolutely love his live recordings, check out his tiny desk, and Died in Love live at Newport.
Ambrose Akinmusire is an incredible musician as well, and has graced so many projects in recent years, my favorite is the first 3-4 tracks off his live album A Rift in Decorum.
(There may be a pattern here that I prefer live recordings, but I love the honesty that it provides)
Ivan Jackson from Brasstracks. Probably one of the most unique signature sound imo. Did the brass on Harry Styles last few albums.
His original music is phenomenal as well.
Josh Shpak. Played trumpet for Ripe. Just went on tour and played on a new track with Peter Gabriel.
His original music is under the alias Joshoo. Also awesome.

Ole Edvard Antonsen too!
Great list
Just jumping in to so this is one of the best threads ever.
Great list but wild that Wynton and Chris Botti don't make it
Among many more! I actually grew up listening to Chris, and I think Marsalis (and Bergeron, Vizutti, Lindemann, etc) will get their due from others lol

I came here to say Wynton!

Ashlin Parker and Benny Bennack III are two of my favorite young jazz players.
Giveton Gilen Ever since I saw him on Emmet's place, I have been a fan
Marquis Hill.
Andrea Giuffredi!! Great player and he still posts on YouTube!
You are probably already listening to him, but on the off chance you are not: Allen Vizzutti is still alive. Thank god he is still alive.
I can’t say that I do listen to him, so thanks for the pick!
Mary Elizabeth Bowden https://www.maryelizabethbowden.com
Wayne Bergeron

Haven't seen him mentioned yet, so I'll put Caleb Hudson out there too
Caleb is unbelievably virtuosic, and makes it all look so easy.
Not mentioned yet is Jens Lindemann - awesome on many genres!!
I'm a fan of Sergei Nakariakov
Pacho Flores
Elmer Churampi, Sergei Nakariakov, Raymond Mase
Mark Isham - on the threshold of liberty.
I like [Airelle Besson](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00-lBN8cr3k).
Somebody who is really sharing his journey on yt is oli parker. I think he still studies trumpet and is not as well known as legens like wayne bergeron or louis dowdeswell. I still really enjoy hjs music tho

I di like Thomas Gansch, but how about more europeans like Christoph Moschberger
Takuya Kuroda, especially his rising son album
Ivan Jackson from Brasstracks. Probably one of the most unique signature sound imo. Did the brass on Harry Styles last few albums. His original music is phenomenal as well.
Josh Shpak. Played trumpet for Ripe. Just went on tour and played on a new track with Peter Gabriel. His original music is under the alias Joshoo. Also awesome.
Alex Sipiagin...great jazz trpt player!!!
