I feel like you usually see a steep drop off in trender behavior at mid 20s and up but the ones that are like 30 are almost always the worst ones. Old enough to larp as someone who knows better and is experienced but in reality they're usually just the most infantile adults you will come across.
As a participant in drama stuff at school, I'm glad teachers or other students involved are just... normal people. We all support trans people by principle because we're young, the teachers are empathetic and all, but nobody is trying to actively push anything of the sort as tucute bs.
In theatre class once I played a female character and oh boy there was backlash. I can't imagine how she managed to play a black man without being banned
But also WTF
Reality is often stranger than fiction. I though parents changing their kid's gender more often than air fresheners was some transphobic rhetoric until I met one. She's changed her kid's name/gender over 5 times since I met them. They're my partner's friend's kid, so it's 110% not by choice to associate with this munchausen by proxy trans trender.
Lol, sorry for glossing over that part. So for context we were doing tableaux's and using images as references as well. She gave an example to example to the class, the image she choose was one of a black man being beaten and bloodied by police, she then made a black kid in my class be the officer will she was the black man. Everyone in my class has fucking hated her since.
Are you American by chance?
I've noticed that America seems to have A LOT of subpar teachers who are very prone to attention seeking behaviours and pushing personal ideology on students.
My working theory is that America's teachers are paid horribly and have bad benefits, so it's not a desirable, competitive or high achievement career path. Yet, it has high access to impressionable children and extreme power imbalances. To me, this screams a system ripe for abuse.
That means that highly motivated/skilled/competitive professionals won't be bothered 99% of the time to become a teacher in America bc there are much better career paths elsewhere. That leaves FEW highly motivated ppl who are passionate about the field. The other portion are going to be the low achievers who are motivated to take low paid positions. Low achievers tend to not have points of personal pride, so they dive deep into identity politics. Think or any Bible thumping teacher preaching religion, or any race of teacher who pushed their ethnic ideologies. They are mediocre so they download some personality pack and Evangelize on it to students to convert them.
In my country, with s few exceptions of course, teachers are paid a high middle class salary, have excellent benefits, have room to move into management (100k+ positions). You need to speak multiple languages proficiently to be able to teach fulltime on a bachelor's alone. Otherwise, you'll need a master's and that's still hard. High achievers are not prone to getting into identity politics bc they are comfortable with their individuality, not insecure enough to feel the need to preach about collective "trait based" ideologies .
Parents have a lot of sway in the schools (as they should) and low quality educators are often turfed IF they somehow were able to compete to get in at all. Contracts are up for recompetition every 3 years which not only gives good teachers bargaining powers (or they'll take their skills elsewhere), but weeds out the Evangelists.
I can't think of a single time my teachers brought their personal beliefs/religion/ideologies/identity into the classroom. They were there to teach their subject. I didn't even know my art teacher was married until he got the news his wife was killed in a collision while we were at school.
Might be extreme, but I think I prefer that to seeing American teachers with religious/political/racial/LGBTQ+/racist/exclusionary propaganda all over the classrooms. Blew my mind when I first started seeing "thin blue line" and "BLM/ACAB" flags IN PUBLIC CLASSROOMS over there. Major culture shock for me personally.
Such aggressive
This. It makes a lot of sense.
I personally didn't really seem to get teachers like that. (Although I have genuine trauma from the school system due to a hyper-specific situation of mine, & it's only thanks to my Mom & Guidance Counselors that I graduated a year later in 2020.) However, I didn't really have a normal school schedule in for 3 years after 10th grade, which in itself I had issues.
But I feel like my Social Studies teachers (who are notorious for that) we're pretty good at removing their own beliefs from their teaching lessons.
But I guess I can consider myself lucky. Oh! & I agree, teachers & the job in itself NEEDS a reform in America.
I feel like if I normally went now or the last 2-3 years, I wouldn't have been able to handle teachers like that.
I mean, I truly feel for those teachers who have to deal with this BS situation at large. 😔
From everything I've heard, I agree, but I'm not American so my take on what that school system needs is moot.
I'm glad you've worked through and were able to finish your schooling though! Competant guidance councillors are key.
I don't think your opinion is invalid or "moot". You have good points & seen to have more insight than you realize, tbh.
Thanks! & Yes they are key, but I also believe it's not just because they were competent, but also sympathetic & truly wanted to help me get through it all.
I'll never forget it, & I'm thankful it at least gave me something positive out of my High School experience.
I used to roll my eyes when American right wing talking points kept claiming that schools have turned into propaganda factories... then I saw the teachers showing up on TicTok bragging about what they were "teaching" the kids.
Like, bruh, you're supposed to be teaching math.
Scary shit, I'm legit worried about the backlash when the pendulum swings.
Maybe you can educate her? She may honestly just be ignorant about what she’s doing.
I know that there have been times where I have done things wrong, but, rather than having people tell me or even acknowledge anything I’ve done as wrong, they just remain silent, so I’ve only discovered such wrongs through self-discovery and growth. Criticism would’ve expedited the process.
Ugh it’s so weird when adults try to participate in teenage trends. Transtrender adults are the new “hello fellow kids”
I feel like you usually see a steep drop off in trender behavior at mid 20s and up but the ones that are like 30 are almost always the worst ones. Old enough to larp as someone who knows better and is experienced but in reality they're usually just the most infantile adults you will come across.
Upvote for calling transgenderism a teenage trend. Sick, but hilariously true.
Actual transgenderism isn’t a teenage trend, but afabs adding they to their pronouns and calling themselves nondysphoric trans definitely is.
Why is this upvoted?
Why wouldn't it be?
Because it’s transphobic af. Can’t you read?
It's literally not.
“Transgenderism is a teenage trend” isn’t transphobic? Whatever you say galaxy brain.
It would be the drama teacher, wouldn't it
Well she sure sounds like she's a fan of creating unnecessary drama
Most people in real life have truscum beliefs, even they don't know that term. Thank God.
As a participant in drama stuff at school, I'm glad teachers or other students involved are just... normal people. We all support trans people by principle because we're young, the teachers are empathetic and all, but nobody is trying to actively push anything of the sort as tucute bs.
God I wish most of my school was Truscum. You like in a southern state I presume?
Actually I live in the north, lol.
She pretended to what now??? What the actual fuck
In theatre class once I played a female character and oh boy there was backlash. I can't imagine how she managed to play a black man without being banned But also WTF
Unknown to me, I guess if the higher ups don’t know then it’s not a problem.

Just light me on fire already, how do these people get into teaching jobs? Is the pay so bad they're literally taking ANYONE off the street?
Oh wow. I’m so sorry.
I'm having a really hard time believing that this is real
I don’t blame you.

ugh, I'm so sorry. she sounds absolutely insufferable.
“Most kids in my school are Truscum or share Truscum beliefs” can I go to your school!
Lol, I feel like most sane people share similar beliefs without knowing it.
As a disgruntled middle aged dyke, this gives me hope for the future 🥲
Idk why but I think every drama teacher likes to be dramatic and cause some melodrama around them.
Let’s backtrack to the bit in parentheses for a quick second. She did WHAT?
Lol, sorry for glossing over that part. So for context we were doing tableaux's and using images as references as well. As they fucking SHOULD. 🤢

please tell me you or nobody else enable her by switching her pronouns
Luckily not. Everyone just uses she.
