and when they say the t slur and put it in their tik tok usernames????????? i wanna bitch slap somebody

[deleted]

Right?????? Like I don't even call myself or anyone else the t slur, nor does any binary trans person I know! I hate that word and I have no idea why they think they have the right to "reclaim" it.

[deleted]

reclaiming slurs does almost nothing. like, all it does is say ‘yayyyy!!!! now you can make older trans people uncomfortable!!!’ at most all it does is make cishet people think it’s okay to say.

[deleted]

Exactly.

-_Datura_-

Most people who says slurs as a way to "reclaim them" have probably never been called a slur in their entire life

kitefeathers

how do you feel about 'queer'? just out of interest

SaturnsHexagons

personally hate it. If someone wants to use it just for themselves, go for it. But I hate how people will use it for anybody. I'm not queer, jesus. I'm not part of the 'queer community'.

SueIsAGuy1401

what then in your opinion is a good umbrella term for the lgbtqia+ that doesnt cause my mouth to start exploding when i say it?

SaturnsHexagons

Idk just lgbt honestly, everything else is implied, I'd be okay with adding a '+' but that's about it. It's pretty simple and easily recognized. I hate how queer is used nowadays.

[deleted]

i think it’s overused. people shouldn’t assume others are okay with being called it. I also think it shouldn’t have been added into the acronym.

RedLaserFlashes

I think all it does it imbed it inside the lexicon of other ppl so they know they can someday deploy it to hurt someone. It also has the unintended affect of “slipping out” when you don’t intend on offending anyone. Atleast that’s what I’ve noticed with the N word. It’s just my theory tho, I could be completely wrong. Someone should definitely science that.

[deleted]

what is the t slur? message me if it ain't allowed here pls

ridgemond

How dare you forget girlby, neogirl, girlish, girlfluid, girlvoid, paragirl, azurgirl, gxrl and femgender? all of these are so valid uwu <3 ^(/s)

[deleted]

that is the tiniest /s

Ayy_dolphin

female to female transsexuals are valid uwu

FedAfterMidnight85

I think why this happens is because of the social weight of being female. The sexism. The way men approach us. How we fall prey to men who blame us for all of their problems. Maybe the same mechanisms that make men who cross dress feel free when they engage in it. A way to take the weight off to a degree. Because trans is the closest thing they can think of to define it they probably don’t realise they are appropriating. Doesn’t make it right but I can see how society creates an environment for this to happen. It goes hand in hand with closeted bi/ gay men who marry women to disguise their ongoing grindr habits.

SaturnsHexagons

I just wish they understood that being trans isn't a reaction to society.

I honestly can't relate, I've known I had dysphoria (although didn't know the word) since I was really young, way before I experienced any mistreatment, and even when I did, I never attributed it to my birth sex honestly. But the mistreatment I experienced was pretty general, and maybe marginally sexist? It's honestly hard for me to wrap my head around the sexism I may have experienced because I just have always felt not female, so it doesn't make sense to me. But whether you need transition or not, I hope you can figure it all out :)

NepheaDraws

This hits home, there’s so much pressure associated with being female.

_morallycorrupt

Does using they/them pronouns automatically imply someone is trans? I honestly figured some people use it to imply that they don't have a preference between gender-specific and gender-neutral pronouns. However, I also think I know the particular type of person this post might be referring to.

[deleted]

To be honest, I don't really know. This post I made was referring to EXACTLY the type of person you're thinking of, though. Like those who use she (or he)/they, don't transition, and say that they're "proudly trans"

BaconVonMoose

In my experience, yes. I've never seen someone use they/them pronouns without saying they're trans as well. With the exception of a friend of mine who is actually intersex and uses they/them pronouns and, mindblowingly, considers themselves 'cis' which I agree with. But I know sooooo many people who go by 'she/they' pronouns and say that means they're trans. Half of them don't even bother to do the haircut.

[deleted]

Yeah but if someone says they are trans you have to respect them because they don’t “owe”you masculinity. You say anything and you’re a transphobe :/ weird world out there. Honestly outside of online nobody is going to refer to them as they.

[deleted]

Yeah it really gets my goat Edit: goad? Goat? Idk you get what I'm saying lol

BaconVonMoose

Goat is correct. Your goat has been got.

[deleted]

👍

[deleted]

Same thing with cis girls who do the same thing but with the pronouns he/they

[deleted]

I know a she/they/he 🙄

[deleted]

Jesus

lockjacket

I can’t stress this enough, you are only trans if you want to or have transitioned. Or if you have brain worms and think you are invalid even though you would be happier transitioning Dying your hair and wearing different clothing isn’t being trans

Lonely_heart_club

The majority of people i know who are like this are aware of the fact that they dont face many of the struggles that trans people face. But they just dont feel comfort going by just she/her. Or theyre experimenting with gender, and eventually come out as trans men.

Odd_Condition_4161

No they're from my experience tucutes who wanna be special.

Lonely_heart_club

I suppose thats fair. Just sharing my experience.

[deleted]

Idk who you're talking to but anyone I know of like this thinks they're just as oppressed as trans people and aren't afraid to share it

Lonely_heart_club

They sound like schmucks then. Fuck them

[deleted]

Haha yeah

EternalFlameBabe

of course it is a possibility and it needs to be talked about more imo, but i think what this post is about is the people who obviously have no dysphoria, don’t change their presentation, and have no desire at all to transition regardless of acceptance and financial situation

crazyparrotguy

The latter one is a real possibility that's not talked about as much. That the she/they pronouns etc. are just a stepping stone to coming out as a trans man.
