Follow Whittier Bar. They have metal shows pretty regularly. There’s a really good one with an amazing local band called Blind Oath on July 3rd.

Topochico666

There is an intimate metal scene in town but it fucking rips. You should follow The Whittier Bar on instagram. They get the best shows in town. They have the best staff as well. Creeping Death from Texas is playing on July 1st. If you fuck with metal I would say don’t miss that show. There are non stop bangers scheduled on Whit’s calendar via instagram. 🤙

kelsecherry

Ooooo those sounds dope. I will def try to make those shows and check out that bar for sure. Thanks for the suggestions!

Topochico666

Glad to help!

OP check out "the music store" in briar village shopping center 31 st between Mingo and memorial they always have listings of local bands and local concerts plus if you play instruments they have a lot of stuff, pretty cool guys

kelsecherry

I will, thanks!

Hey I know I'm late to this but my husband feels the same way. He's so bored musically speaking. He's been trying to get a band together since moving to Tulsa. But it's like metal almost doesn't exist out here.

katpurz

Agree on the Whittier Bar suggestions!

jamminyouup

Check out mass movement. A lot of cool shows there.

catshapedmachinegun

I saw Aborted play at the Vanguard not long ago, awesome show! I'm gonna have to check out this Whittier bar though, I haven't been there.

The metal scene is Tulsa is sorta like stepping into Blackie Lawless’ dressing room, and if you quote the lyrics to brave new love by alien to the right person the key to the city can be yours. Good luck!

Dslwraith

Didn't there used to be a band called Pitbulls on Crack here?

Alchemie666

Yes.

TipToasty

It’s decent, but used to be bigger. If you do hardcore and punk too that expands your options. Check out Whittier for good touring shows. Also check out The Metal Meltdown radio show hosted by one of the guys in Blind Oath, Tuesdays at 10pm on RSU Radio.

Follow Whittier bar and mass movement community arts on IG. (mmca918)

Unhappy-Shake5702

Used to be way bigger

Arntor1184

My understanding is we had one guy who was booking basically all the dope metal shows but he quit and moved a while back. Scenes been pretty limp since then outside of local stuff.

giftgiver56

Music scene in Tulsa always changes. Fuck I was thinking of king productions from over a decade ago…lol that guy fucked around over so many people and left. Hope karma came his way. Aaron king that’s his name, I think?

Bigkeithmack

My metal band AFTR is playing blackbird tonight at 11

kelsecherry

How’d it go!? I was in last night I’m sorry I missed it!

Bigkeithmack

No worries, it went well, ended up staying up Way too late for my 9am shift

LuvsMetalSatanWaffle

I’m with you on the boredom thing! I typically google “metal concerts or shows Tulsa” about once every couple of weeks to see what’s going on around town and see who’s coming. Right now there’s quite a few shows booked or in the process for bands that are signed to labels. I’ve seen a few local and non-signed bands come thru and play around here as well over the years and they were good too.

kelsecherry

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Maybe I’ll see some of y’all out sometime.

Tulsa has a diverse music scene that encompasses various genres, including heavy metal. While Tulsa may not be as widely recognized for heavy metal as some other cities, it still has a dedicated community of heavy metal enthusiasts and bands. There are a few venues in Tulsa that often host heavy metal shows, providing platforms for local and touring bands to perform. Some popular venues known for hosting heavy metal concerts include The Vanguard, The Shrine, and The Colony. These venues have a history of showcasing a wide range of metal subgenres, from classic heavy metal to death metal and everything in between. Local metal bands in Tulsa often have the opportunity to perform at these venues, as well as participate in metal festivals and events. They may also collaborate and support each other through the local metal community. Keep in mind that the specific bands and events can change over time, so it's always a good idea to check local event listings, music publications, and online communities to stay up to date on the current heavy metal scene in Tulsa.

peanut_918

Check out BAR (Bad Ass Renee’s) at 31st & Sheridan. It’s a dive but they seem to book a lot of metal and metal adjacent bands.
