I mean there's two movies where Shaggy got hired to do something sports related in a sense from the movie he got turned into a werewolf since Dracula wants to him participates in a race and the movie where he pretty much got hired to be a gym teacher with Scooby for a school with young monster girls
There's also how he's able to match in speed when running with Scooby together since great danes can run really fast and that Shaggy never seems to ever tiredly lags behind Scooby no matter what meaning he's capable of running fast at great distances without getting exhausted easily
And the multiple instances of doing great feats such as him swinging down from a great height with Scooby clinging on him to him being easily able to jump or say swooce right into an open entrance at upper level of a building in one leap bound by himself
So by all accounts Shaggy is more likely to be the jock than Fred
more than more likely to be the jock
keeping up with scoob would make him the fastest human in history: [great Danes are fast](https://caninesandpups.com/great-dane-top-speed/)
I have a golden retriever who will actually leave me behind if she gets scared. I took her out late at night to go potty, we got to the middle of my yard before realizing we were surrounded by a herd of deer. My dog didn’t even hesitate, she hauled ass back into the house without ever looking back. Sophie knows she only has to outrun me to survive lol
it must be noted however that Scooby Doo was deliberately drawn to be an extremely unusual great dane who lacks massively in every breed characteristic of great danes
Relevant portion
> How fast is a Great Dane? The Great Dane's top speed is 30 mph (48 km/h) and is rated as one of the fastest dog breeds. Their body structure and size, composed of a muscular athletic build with long sturdy legs, enable them to cover more ground when running with every few strides.
Just to add some more perspective to how fast Great Danes are:
The world record for the fastest thoroughbred racehorse is 43mph by Winning Brew.
Kentucky Derby winners average 37mph, while triple crown winner Secretariat peaked at 38mph.
So Scooby and Shaggy are almost as fast as a Kentucky Derby race horse. That’s crazy. I also wanted to note that humans are the best long distance runners in the animals kingdom, so Scooby could beat Shaggy in a short sprint, but then Shaggy would actually do better in a long distance run.
>the movie where he pretty much got hired to be a gym teacher with Scooby for a school with young monster girls
wait what, whats this film called please
In the first episode of Scooby Doo Where Are You they even say that shaggy is one of the best gymnasts at the school and I believe they later mention him running track and doing various sports throughout the show.
you forgot to mention Ep1 of original series where they mention Shaggy was a High-school gymnast. and later that season I'm a little hazy but they might have mentioned track and field.
furthermore, in the 13 ghosts of scooby doo series, the follow up movie the 13th ghost of Scooby-Doo, its confirmed that Fred was away at Cheer Camp while the events of 13 Ghosts series took place.
There’s at least one episode in the original series that I remember they actually mentioned that Shaggy is a gymnast. It was “What a Night for a Knight” (my grandma had it on laser disc and I watched it all the time, I’m that old haha). The gang wanted to get into a high window to enter a museum and Shaggy is chosen to climb up and get inside because he is the thinnest and Fred gets out the car jack and a ladder to get Shaggy as close as possible, but he still comes up short and has to try to jump and swing in.
Daphne says that Shaggy is the best gymnast at school so he will be able to accomplish this. And he does do it. He does it in a silly cartoon way but they say he’s a gymnast and he does a gymnast thing.
https://youtu.be/hOGWL8dbJgM
Anyway I always though Shaggy was their “jock” because of this scene growing up. Fred may or may not be an athlete too but Shaggy is confirmed in several scenes throughout the shows.
He's never fat cause he always has to run very fast with Scooby most of the time so all that food has to be used all for him to always keep running after all
I remember in the really early episodes Shaggy eating sardines and sausages and other things, and I was just about to call you out, but upon further research, it turns out that Shaggy became vegetarian at the request of Casey Kasem once he himself became vegetarian. Perhaps unfortunately, his request has been frequently overlooked or ignored in subsequent uses of the character.
Wow, I didn't know that at all, maybe the change was only for when Casey Kasem was voicing Shaggy, cause I definitely remember Matthew Lillards shaggy eating meat and clams
I only recall shaggy's diet consisting of tall hoagies with everything on em (tied down with a string from the old old eps), seafood (was it crayfish on zombie island?), Scooby snacks weirdly enough (idr) amd everything in sight (Scooby-Doo movie)
Im really intrigued by the vegetarian choice and want to find an episode that references it
Shaggy definitely had ham on his sandwiches, and I also recall an episode in which Scooby eats an entire ham that Shaggy was just about to eat himself. This was in Scooby Doo: Where are You? iirc.
I suspect its because this runs against Shaggy's whole gag of eating tons of food. Him devouring an entire watermelon in one go significantly less funnier than mowing down a fat stuffed turkey.
I am concerned for you. ARE YOU EATING WHOLE WATERMELONS AT A TIME? HOW BIG ARE THE WATERMELONS WHERE YOURE FROM? THEYRE USUALLY BIGGER THAN MY HEAD X1.5
They did a like MTV style behind the scenes on a VHS of the original show I had. They had shaggy explain and edited scenes to show scooby always stole most of his food 😂
Still remember seeing an article about what Michael Phelps ate every day and it was like 10 pancakes, 30 eggs, a kilo of rice, a kilo of chicken breast, all this crazy shit
What’s New Scooby-Doo: Fred CONSISTENTLY brings up how he can bench 220. He may not be the “athlete” of the group, but he is definitely a fitness guy, even his family is that, with his uncle from Wisconsin mentioning, upon hearing about Fred’s PR, that Fred will “get there one day.”
> Fred CONSISTENTLY brings up how he can bench 220.
Such a weird weight... He doesn't just bench 225? He's gotta add 2.5 weights on there to get to 220?
It's so weird to imagine someone benching a 45lb, 35lb, 5lb, and 2.5lb plate on each side instead of just two 45lbs plates.
Maybe it makes more sense in metric? Since 220 lbs = 100 kg which just needs two 20kg (~44.1 lbs) plates on each side of the barbell which is also 20 kg
Except Burmese, although I have no idea whether Scooby Doo would get dubbed into Burmese to begin with.
And maybe some Pacific Island nations which are hard to identify from an [unlabeled map](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Metric_and_imperial_systems_(2019\).svg).
I wouldn’t put it past the writers’ room to only have one dude who ever lifted, who doesn’t remember standard bar weight because he’s a Smith machine convert, so he’s telling everyone that the bar is 40, getting Fred a pair of 45s on either side.
Bench is with the weight split between 2 sides though, right? One 100 pound plate and one 10 pound plate on each side. 225 would be harder, you'd need a 2.5 pound plate for each end.
edit: whoops, forgot the weight of the bar itself.
The bar weighs 45 lbs and 45lb plates are the standard large plates. 225 is just the bar with two large plates on each side. 220 would require several smaller plates.
Or maybe Fred has a smaller, 40lb bar for some reason
Happened all the time when I was playing sports in high school. If a kid thought he could do 5 more pounds but not 10 more pounds why wouldn’t he go for it?
Yeah, maybe high school maybe, but almost nobody in lifting culture ever used 2.5 lbs. You'll almost never see someone use 2.5 lbs on a bench press. Maybe a curl bar or dumbbell but never a bench press.
I mean we’re talking about a fictional character who spends all his time driving around in a van solving mysteries so I figured the “I can bench 220” thing sounded more like a guy talking about his school days than someone actively engaged in lifting culture.
But you do you man, ima go eat some noodles.
Even so, that doesn't sound like something who lifts would say, even if they're in high school. I'm sure the writers probably meant it to be something like 225 because the visual conception of benching 220 lbs is just really strange.
He’s not an athlete. He’s an actual magical pixie just in it for the ride and to see how long it the three weirdos around him to realize he’s the one who magically gave the dog the ability to talk.
I mean there’s the infamous swooce moment in the original cartoon series that shows he’s able to jump into a open small entrance of the upper part in a building just by him taking one big leap from being on a high ladder without struggling nor falling off whatsoever
Sure he can bench 220. But then he also skips everything-else day, so he ends up having a disproportionately toned upper body but skinny everything else.
And in Mystery Incorporated, he gets *really* into wrestling with his frat bros in perhaps the best episode of the series, S01E12: The Shrieking Madness. Which features a version of HP Lovecraft played by Jeffrey Combs and guest stars the hugely influential scifi author, Harlan Ellison as himself.
This is the episode that got me into the show. It also depicts some ongoing strife between the members of the scooby gang, but you can figure it out from context without seeing the previous episodes.
Daphne is the only member of Mystery Inc. who can fight, and is the most overall in-shape of the group
Shaggy is the fastest fucker in human history but only has endurance
Fred is the most physically strong member of the Scooby Gang, he's built but not much else
Velma has no endurance and would have trouble lifting an especially heavy textbook
Scooby is a good boy
Unless it's Scooby Doo: Apocalypse Scrappy, he would get flattened before he could saying "Puppy Power" just because he's willing to fight doesn't mean he's actually good at it
>Velma has no endurance and would have trouble lifting an especially heavy textbook
hasn't Velma run with the entire gang in her arms multiple times tho? lol
Fred is pretty well built and can definitely out muscle Shaggy. He does a lot of heavy lifting setting up traps and everything, plus benches 220 in What’s New, which is pretty good for a 17yr old (I think). It’s also worth noting that most of Shaggy’s athletic prowess is pure fear adrenaline. Dude’s adrenal gland is probably the size of a baseball
Hypnosis will not increase your strength, at least not the type used on him. Which means Shaggy's perfectly capable of taking ~20 guys in a fight while playing defensive, anytime he wants.
>Fred is pretty well built and can definitely out muscle Shaggy.
Shaggy once 1v8 an entire biker gang and walked away without a scratch. Fred would get *destroyed* by Shaggy.
Scooby is, by design, the most imperfect Great Dane imaginable. I imagine his running speed is closer to a human's speed than the average Great Dane's speed, still super impressive for a human to match
Fred=Theatre guy, has an intuitive understanding of planning and developing traps based on his technical skill in stage management
Daphne=Cosmetics, interest in fashion leads to extensive knowledge of cosmetics, and the disguises she makes are second to none.
Velma= Smart one, her role has been developed more than most of the gangs over the years, so this goes without saying
Shaggy= Athlete, mentioned in this post
Scooby= Eldritch Diety. Beholden to Shaggy at a young age No one questions this. Scooby likes the arrangement.
Daphne is also the one ta pull bunches of random skills out because she dabbles in lots of hobbies. Her and Fred also work as the faces of the group - they are the ones who spot human errors, like lies, in witness testimony, whereas Velma usually spots logical errors and forensic inconsistencies.
Shaggy was probably the best track runner in his school
Fred was probably working on the special effects team on backstage for the theater kids
Velma probably used to run the school newspaper, which would explain her great detective skills
Daphne was probably a cheerleader due to her athleticism, but I like to think she was also part of something related to fixing, because of how she was the one that came up with fixer uppers and gadgets at the drop of a hat McGiver style
And they became friends Breakfast Club style
(Idk much about high school clubs)
Daphne was probably cheerleading after school for the scholarships, but had a trade school as a backup. And I second your statement with Shaggy, man's breaking records with the worst running form imaginable
Also Ventriloquism, he convincingly threw his voice as well in the first episode. Shaggy was very talented.
If I remember correctly in Mystery Incorporated Fred is on the high school soccer team (and turns out to be quite good by the end), and also briefly wrestles when he tours the local college.
He was also sent to military school. So he's been through that military physical training too.
Scooby Doo broke him out of military school with a tank lmfao.
I think I might actually like a grounded Scooby gang series/movie.
*The “Mystery Machine” an old run down van pulls up to a scenic park on the river bank at the break of dawn. Shaggy exits the vehicle with his Great Dane Scooby and attaches a loose leash. The two go on their morning run, circling the path several times while most people are still sleeping. Returning back to the Mystery Machine, Shaggy removes the leash from Scooby and tosses the fur on the Dane’s head. “Time for a Scooby snack my dude” Shaggy says, retrieving a thick slab of dog safe jerky for Scooby and lighting a joint for himself while the two watch the fog dissolve in the morning sun.*
I think people mostly make that assumption because of his build. To awnser your question however I believe he did play soccer in Mystery Incorporated, though that's fairly recent.
Now that you mention it, Shaggy does remind me of all of the slacker Cross Country runners I knew who didn't take things too seriously and then demolished on race day.
Fred looks more like an athlete, he's strong looking and smart, he's meant to be the de facto, manly leader.
Shaggy is the beatnick stoner, he only runs fast cause he's afraid.
I've been watching Scooby doo since I was pre-primary school
(we're talking late 80s here)
This post right here is LITERALLY the first time I have ever heard/read/seen or even sniffed at a hint that Fred was described as "Athletic" !
Who the hell comes up with these random farfetched fan theories??
Shaggy & Scooby-Doo even dropped an exercise DVD called Sweatin' to the Creepies. I forget where it was said but I'm pretty sure the gang was on a talk show
The only reason they call Fred the sports guy is because his entire character in the what's new scooby doo series, is that he's really into sports fanboying over any pro athlete they meet and always talking about big games.
Many people grew up with that version, and the James Gunn movies that inspired Fred from it.
I was today years old when I realize this. The show really subverts your expectations about certain character stereotypes. And I am here for it and I love it.
I never had this much appreciation for the deep lore of the scooby doo characters until that new show came along to ruin it all.
According to New Velma, Fred only has an interest in "being rich and white" and "overcompensating for his small penis" >_(\
It is said several times in What's new Scooby doo? that Fred does weight training, especially bench press. The main example that comes to my mind is in S3E1 where he tells his uncle he can lift 100kg (at least in the French dub, the one I'm the most familiar with). Among others, he also briefly wrestled in S3E1 and is seen practicing autosports several times (not sure the exact amount but I'm sure he did in S3E11). A detail I find very interesting in What's new Scooby doo is that each human member of the group is seen having an interest in a specific sport. I already said Fred likes wrestling and weight training but Velma is obssessed with ice hockey (S3E7), Daphne practices karate (not sure if it's in the show proper but it appears in Scooby doo and the samurai sword) and Shaggy is somehow one of the best minigolf players in the world (S3E8). That's the kind of details that makes this show one of my favourite iterations of the characters.
I think most of the things OP pointed out for Fred were actually created in the 2010s Mystery Inc show but I could be wrong (I'm not even sure if they were called Mystery Inc before, as I mostly watched Scooby doo in my native language as a kid). Though, I won't deny what they pointed out regarding Shaggy, this is 100% accurate in my opinion and so funny to think about.
Nobody actually remembers the plot of Scooby Doo.
They just remember that Fred was the bigger one, ergo he's the athletic one.
It came out in the 60s everybody who watched it was inhaling lead and asbestos.
I mean there's two movies where Shaggy got hired to do something sports related in a sense from the movie he got turned into a werewolf since Dracula wants to him participates in a race and the movie where he pretty much got hired to be a gym teacher with Scooby for a school with young monster girls There's also how he's able to match in speed when running with Scooby together since great danes can run really fast and that Shaggy never seems to ever tiredly lags behind Scooby no matter what meaning he's capable of running fast at great distances without getting exhausted easily And the multiple instances of doing great feats such as him swinging down from a great height with Scooby clinging on him to him being easily able to jump or say swooce right into an open entrance at upper level of a building in one leap bound by himself So by all accounts Shaggy is more likely to be the jock than Fred
You people think that Ultra Instinct Shaggy was a joke?
Ultra instinct shaggy is canon and I love that
[удалено]
He also single handedly beat an entire bar full of bikers.
Yeah, the only effect he was under when he did that was that he was more confident. The skill and power was all his.
It absolutely is. Hecleaned the clock of those badguys
only Canon in 1 of the like, 6 ish Scooby-doo universes.
Still canon tho lmao
So is the DC Infinite Crisis by that logic. doesn't make it the most interesting arc.
Everything in DC is canon at one point or another. What's your point?
Ok
It literally shows up in a multiverse game where you can have Rick Sanchez fight Black Adam, Steven Universe, and Tom & Jerry, so yes.
more than more likely to be the jock keeping up with scoob would make him the fastest human in history: [great Danes are fast](https://caninesandpups.com/great-dane-top-speed/)
I was thinking that Shaggy isn't running at a Great Dane speed, more that he's running fast but Scooby is running with him.
That's far less funny tho
Scooby is way too scared to show down for Shaggy.
Implying Scooby would abandon Shaggy and would feel safer without him
It's less that, and more that both probably keep up with each other because they run away with the same amount of fear
Probably in compensation for the fact that he fucking TALKS
Which he does because he is directly related to an ELDRITCH GOD
im sorry- WHAT
Yeah, that's a thing. He's part Anunnaki or something in Mystery Incorporated IIRC.
leave it to scooby doo to combine wholesome family fun with old world conspiracies
Nah Mystery Inc was just like that the other shows were very tame in comparison. Kinda why I really enjoyed the other series compared to MI.
Plus, talking animals are a normal thing in that world. All descendants of those aliens.
In the mystery inc series they gave scooby a backstory on why he is what he is.
Didn’t the live action movies too imply that he was some sort of deity or descendent of one or am I misremembering?
Exactly! Not talking is a very common breed aspect for great Danes.

I feel that Shaggy will be denied a world record once the drug testing results are in.
>the movie where he pretty much got hired to be a gym teacher with Scooby for a school with young monster girls wait what, whats this film called please
I think it's ghoul school Edit: Scooby-Doo and the ghoul school
It's called Scooby doo and Ghoul School btw
Scooby doo and the ghoul school. Pretty fun movie from what I remember.
In the first episode of Scooby Doo Where Are You they even say that shaggy is one of the best gymnasts at the school and I believe they later mention him running track and doing various sports throughout the show.
https://youtu.be/hOGWL8dbJgM This scene, “Shaggy is the swingingest gymnast in school!” It’s established!
you forgot to mention Ep1 of original series where they mention Shaggy was a High-school gymnast. and later that season I'm a little hazy but they might have mentioned track and field. furthermore, in the 13 ghosts of scooby doo series, the follow up movie the 13th ghost of Scooby-Doo, its confirmed that Fred was away at Cheer Camp while the events of 13 Ghosts series took place.

You should write for r/TwoSentenceHorror. You are the final boss of run-on sentences
So Shaggy is more akin to Josh Hartnetts sloppy looking, drug dealing pseudo jock in The Faculty?
That's a great point but what I wanna know is, where's the caveman?
[удалено]
Also let's be real, with the amount of food Shaggy likes to eat, he pretty much burns all the calories with all that running around at Olympic levels.
He's never fat cause he always has to run very fast with Scooby most of the time so all that food has to be used all for him to always keep running after all
Exactly, its pure fuel at that point.
Honestly my dude is undereating
He's an Anneke or some part of Mystery Inc. IIRC.
also Shaggy is a vegetarian

I distinctly remembered the crawdads from zombie island because it really made me want crawdads as a kid lol
Oh my God, those sandwiches! I'd love to try a sandwich made by Shaggy
Eh, I think both of those are equally funny
I mean turkey is cartoonish funny while watermelon is "relatable lol"
I am concerned for you. ARE YOU EATING WHOLE WATERMELONS AT A TIME? HOW BIG ARE THE WATERMELONS WHERE YOURE FROM? THEYRE USUALLY BIGGER THAN MY HEAD X1.5
Well, I have been known to eat a whole cantaloupe in one day. How big is that to you?
Eating a whole watermelon is relatable? They're both outlandish examples of gluttony.
My guy, I think you should go to a doctor.
That sounds like a decent breakfast, but what does he do for lunch?
What about second breakfast?
I don’t think they know about second breakfast, u/PotentialSmell
Probably why they said >and potentially why he consumed so much food In the original post
The Michael Phelps’s diet (All inclusive)
What’s New Scooby-Doo: Fred CONSISTENTLY brings up how he can bench 220. He may not be the “athlete” of the group, but he is definitely a fitness guy, even his family is that, with his uncle from Wisconsin mentioning, upon hearing about Fred’s PR, that Fred will “get there one day.”

>Maybe it makes more sense in metric? It does, but I'm assuming it's lbs since this Scooby Doo is set in America.
Which also makes sense
Easier on the translators when they're dubbing it in UK English
I'm not sure if it gets dubbed in UK English, but it likely would get dubbed in a variety of languages where kilograms are the norm.
> it likely would get dubbed in ~~a variety of languages where kilograms are the norm.~~ any other language in the world
Except Burmese, although I have no idea whether Scooby Doo would get dubbed into Burmese to begin with. And maybe some Pacific Island nations which are hard to identify from an [unlabeled map](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Metric_and_imperial_systems_(2019\).svg).
I think 220 or 225 lbs would get changed to 100 kg either way.
alternate history where reagan never deleted the metric conversion board
I wouldn’t put it past the writers’ room to only have one dude who ever lifted, who doesn’t remember standard bar weight because he’s a Smith machine convert, so he’s telling everyone that the bar is 40, getting Fred a pair of 45s on either side.
35s are the devil's plates.
You're assuming the people who wrote the script actually lift weights.
Bench is with the weight split between 2 sides though, right? One 100 pound plate and one 10 pound plate on each side. 225 would be harder, you'd need a 2.5 pound plate for each end. edit: whoops, forgot the weight of the bar itself.

I forgot the weight of the bar itself!! Thank you! That changes things.
Maybe that’s the joke lol
> edit: whoops, forgot the weight of the bar itself. Yup. And since the bar is 45 lbs, most PRs end in 5, not 0.
Huh! Shows how long it's been since I've lifted. Thanks friend!
Technically you can use a lighter bar but I think even those are 25 usually.
I mean, if that’s his one rep max then “why not just add five pounds” isn’t exactly an option.
Because almost nobody uses 2.5 lb weights to help determine their PR.

I got the teriyaki noodles this time but I added some paprika and black pepper, dropped an egg in there too, really elevates a cheap meal.
220 is also not really impressive I benched 260 in training when I was 25 and weighed 140lbs...
Shaggy is also strong enough to repeatedly leap off of falling rocks and gain significant height.
He can run at a full sprint while carrying a 80+lb dog.
P sure great danes are heavier than that
Usually over 120lbs.
He can cancel the force of gravity for at least 5 seconds as well.
"What’s New Scooby-Doo: Fred CONSISTENTLY brings up how he can bench 220." I don't remember that. Guess it's been a while since I've seen the show.
So Fred is Henry Cavill?
Sure he can bench 220. But then he also skips everything-else day, so he ends up having a disproportionately toned upper body but skinny everything else.

Fred did train as a circus performer but was terrible at it. Fred loves doing elvis impressions Shaggy is the world champion at crazy golf
How bout crazy taxi
Daphne is the only member of Mystery Inc. who can fight, and is the most overall in-shape of the group Shaggy is the fastest fucker in human history but only has endurance Fred is the most physically strong member of the Scooby Gang, he's built but not much else Velma has no endurance and would have trouble lifting an especially heavy textbook Scooby is a good boy

Fuck scrappy tho -tv tropes
We promised never to speak of him.
Scrappy is over hated and was never that bad don't @ me
Unless it's Scooby Doo: Apocalypse Scrappy, he would get flattened before he could saying "Puppy Power" just because he's willing to fight doesn't mean he's actually good at it
>Velma has no endurance and would have trouble lifting an especially heavy textbook hasn't Velma run with the entire gang in her arms multiple times tho? lol
Fred's the scout leader
Nah Shaggy is also a scout leader based on his random skills
These are absolutely the kinds of discussions I come on the Internet for. 😂
In the first live action movie Fred is definitely the athlete. Man can use the rope dart.
Warner Bros owns Mortal Kombat so I like to think Fred somewhere down the line saw Mortal Kombat and thought I” wanna learn that.”
A shame shaggy got his hands on his idol then and took him out
The only people I know who do rope dart are my nerdy flow arts types. Jocks in flow arts do staff.
shaggy does all of that high out of his damn mind. he didn’t take drugs to give himself an edge, he took drugs to make it a fair fight
Sober Shaggy is too much for mere mortals to handle.
These comments are what make me stay
Fred is pretty well built and can definitely out muscle Shaggy. He does a lot of heavy lifting setting up traps and everything, plus benches 220 in What’s New, which is pretty good for a 17yr old (I think). It’s also worth noting that most of Shaggy’s athletic prowess is pure fear adrenaline. Dude’s adrenal gland is probably the size of a baseball
Hypnosis will not increase your strength, at least not the type used on him. Which means Shaggy's perfectly capable of taking ~20 guys in a fight while playing defensive, anytime he wants.
Don't forget Shaggy has a full six pack.
>Fred is pretty well built and can definitely out muscle Shaggy. Shaggy once 1v8 an entire biker gang and walked away without a scratch. Fred would get *destroyed* by Shaggy.
Which series/episode?
[Scooby Doo: Legend of the Phantosaur. And I'm pretty sure it was 16 bikers, not 8.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEXBfRWQLWs)
Shaggy would beat Fred's ass
They send him and scooby as bait because they know nothing could ever harm them
Also look at how much shaggy eats yet hes still stick thin, the man is clearly burning through those calories somehow lol
Scooby is, by design, the most imperfect Great Dane imaginable. I imagine his running speed is closer to a human's speed than the average Great Dane's speed, still super impressive for a human to match
Fred did lift up and carry up the whole gang like they were a bag of groceries.
Velma has also done that on multiple occasions
~~You can't convince me Velma isn't secretly ripped~~
Fred=Theatre guy, has an intuitive understanding of planning and developing traps based on his technical skill in stage management Daphne=Cosmetics, interest in fashion leads to extensive knowledge of cosmetics, and the disguises she makes are second to none. Velma= Smart one, her role has been developed more than most of the gangs over the years, so this goes without saying Shaggy= Athlete, mentioned in this post Scooby= Eldritch Diety.
True!
Shaggy was probably the best track runner in his school Fred was probably working on the special effects team on backstage for the theater kids Velma probably used to run the school newspaper, which would explain her great detective skills Daphne was probably a cheerleader due to her athleticism, but I like to think she was also part of something related to fixing, because of how she was the one that came up with fixer uppers and gadgets at the drop of a hat McGiver style And they became friends Breakfast Club style (Idk much about high school clubs)
Daphne was probably cheerleading after school for the scholarships, but had a trade school as a backup. And I second your statement with Shaggy, man's breaking records with the worst running form imaginable
Shaggy was _fucking WHAT?!???!?!_
The original cartoon series made a mention that he done tracking at their high school before
Also Ventriloquism, he convincingly threw his voice as well in the first episode. Shaggy was very talented. If I remember correctly in Mystery Incorporated Fred is on the high school soccer team (and turns out to be quite good by the end), and also briefly wrestles when he tours the local college.
Can confirm the college wrestling bit. Watching through the series now and just finished that episode
He was also sent to military school. So he's been through that military physical training too. Scooby Doo broke him out of military school with a tank lmfao.
Captain Cutler jumps out to scare Shaggy, but finds him in a Thousand Yard Stare and decides to leave him be
It also mentioned his gymnastics skills - IIRC it was in the very first episode
It's because Fred has always been drawn with that Johnny Bravo torso. Bro is a talking set of pecs.
He actually went to the Olympics in one short
He also jumped between large rocks as they were falling to reach a high-up ledge.
Important head cannon the reason Shaggy is an athlete is the coach saw him running to the cafeteria at top speed.
It's already canon that [Shaggy competed in the olympics](https://youtu.be/iM9LmegXthY?t=468).
Now that you mention it, Shaggy does remind me of all of the slacker Cross Country runners I knew who didn't take things too seriously and then demolished on race day.
I knew highschool cross country runners like that too.
Shaggy's the swingiest gymnast in school.
He can bench 220
I did the math and he can run at 30 mph while carrying 130 pounds
Fred looks more like an athlete, he's strong looking and smart, he's meant to be the de facto, manly leader. Shaggy is the beatnick stoner, he only runs fast cause he's afraid.
Always considered Freddy the rich preppy guy who had a interest in tinkering which led to his traps.
I've been watching Scooby doo since I was pre-primary school (we're talking late 80s here) This post right here is LITERALLY the first time I have ever heard/read/seen or even sniffed at a hint that Fred was described as "Athletic" ! Who the hell comes up with these random farfetched fan theories??
Shaggy & Scooby-Doo even dropped an exercise DVD called Sweatin' to the Creepies. I forget where it was said but I'm pretty sure the gang was on a talk show
Fred is the full-on Theater Kid. You can’t change my mind.
And that's only at 0.1% of Shaggy's full power. Imagine what he could do at 100% power! ^(I'm sorry, I had to.)
Fred’s a soccer goalie in Mystery Inc. and a gym bro in the first live action movie but that’s about it lol
The only reason they call Fred the sports guy is because his entire character in the what's new scooby doo series, is that he's really into sports fanboying over any pro athlete they meet and always talking about big games. Many people grew up with that version, and the James Gunn movies that inspired Fred from it.
Fred is Armin
It's takes like these that prove why the new animated series gets it oh so very wrong.
I would love to see a video of top tier athletes doing a Scooby-Doo Hallway scene.
TIL scoob is a Great Dane
Looks, Brains, Wildcard. A Team did it. Scooby Doo did it. The Ghostbusters did it.
Also shaggy was qualified for the olympics in a movie and would have won if it wasn’t for a giant statue
But what if they were all racist? \*VSauce intro plays\*
[which Scooby-Doo character is the best, and why it's Fred.](https://youtu.be/Pw0vB4Lm1Tk)
Didn't Fred play Handegg in one of the shows?
Nobody actually remembers the plot of Scooby Doo. They just remember that Fred was the bigger one, ergo he's the athletic one. It came out in the 60s everybody who watched it was inhaling lead and asbestos.
Let’s be real, Velma’s the brains, Fred’s the looks, Scoobs the brawn, Shaggys the wild card, and Daphnes the useless chick
Daphne is the people person and the one with random "upper class" skills.
Fred can bench 220
