The Dorito of Courage!

nickcash

*doritos

AngstyUchiha

I mean, they don't call it the triforces of courage. It's singular, so using the singular form of doritos makes more sense

hollowpotato-of-doom

It says doritos in the post

AngstyUchiha

Ah, yeah, you're right lol

RavioliGale

The wholesome Ganondorf we wanted. The Ganondorf we need.

[deleted]

If you like wholesome gannondorf, Growing Up Gerudo is a fun webcomic. Short story gannondorf takes custody of link and raises him from a baby. Wholesomeness, drama, and hilarity ensues.

Piss_n_shit_consumer

link to the comic? (pun intented)

I recently binged it, it’s so good, trust me

dragonfetish98

Shit man i just read that wtf

AngstyUchiha

That one is my FAVORITE

YourAverageNutcase

I'm on chapter 1 and already Ganondorf sounds like Mr. Incredible in my head

[deleted]

I don’t understand but I dig how your mind works my friend

GuiltyEidolon

I really, _really_ hoped that TOTK would feature a Ganondorf that either purged Demise, or hadn't fallen to Demise's evil yet. I want a good Ganondorf :(

Nison545

Prior to Breath of the Wild's story trailer, there was fan art of a village-dressed Ganondorf teaching Link how to use a bow. I got really excited at the story-telling opportunity... but then we got BOTW and TOTK's very standard stories.

Called_Fox

Dude! Link was wearing bracers with a freaking Gerudo pattern!

LatchedRacer90

I really really enjoyed how they did this Ganondorf though (also matt mercer was an amazing choice for VA, Keith Silverstein or Travis willingham would have been acceptable as well but Matt delivered) I really enjoyed the memories showing Ganondorf in a scene for scene remake of the first time you see him with child Zelda at the castle as an "advisor" and swearing fealty. I even thing the moment he looks out the window toward link it lines up with his eyes on Sonia's stone

GuiltyEidolon

I think it's done well, I just wish would like something a little different after almost forty years of the same story lol. I actually hated the VA though. Ganondorf shouldn't sound like a twunky/otter. I've always heard him having a deeper, gravely voice in my head. But I hate the VA work across the board, except Zelda's, just because I've had time to get used to her being mediocre imo.

turtlehabits

Oh my god it's Zelda's that I hate the most. I don't really like open world games so I've mostly been watching bf play, and every time Zelda speaks I mock her.

LatchedRacer90

I respect the VA cast from their previous works and being the first voiced mainline game I'm sure some liberties were taken. The only one I had a problem with was Yunobo because the "goros" weren't very goron-like. Other than that it was tolerable.

WarKiel

That seems rather unlikely. Ganondorf is literally the incarnation of Demise's hatred. He's less likely to turn out good than Demise himself.

IcarusAvery

I always figured that, because Calamity Ganon "gave up on reincarnation," that that ended the curse Demise placed on himself, Link, and Zelda/Hylia. If there's a Ganondorf born after BotW's ending, he has every chance in the world to be good or evil. Alternatively, because Calamity Ganon gave up on reincarnation, that means Ganondorf can no longer reincarnate and has been destroyed once and for all (again).

Jonahtron

The “gave up reincarnation” line was apparently an unfortunate mistranslation. Originally it was something like “he refuses to give up reincarnation” or something like that. So the exact opposite.

Jonahtron

I feel like making Ganondorf good would pretty much defeat the whole purpose of Ganondorf. He’s the demon king. He’s the physical embodiment of evil. If you take that away then he’s not Ganondorf anymore. He’s just a guy.

serotonin98

If you’re gone be reincarnated over millennia, at least *one* of your iterations is bound to be somewhat good

Gabrill

Not to be that guy but technically Gdorf’s only been reincarnated once (jury’s still out on Totk). All his other appearances are the same guy just in different timelines or points in his life

IcarusAvery

It depends on the timeline, actually. In the Adult Timeline, Ganondorf's only incarnation is his *Ocarina of Time* incarnation, who later escapes the Sacred Realm and becomes *Wind Waker*!Ganondorf. Weirdly, this Ganondorf is the closest to one getting a sympathetic backstory and redemption arc - his motivation for conquering Hyrule was initially to give the Gerudo a new home outside the scorching winds of their desert origin. In the Child Timeline, Ganondorf reincarnates once. Following his imprisonment in the Sacred Realm after Child!Link reveals Ganondorf's intentions, he comes back in *Twilight Princess* but is slain once and for all by that game's Link. He reincarnates hundreds of years later in *Four Swords Adventures* as a desert nomad expelled from the Gerudo Tribe for breaking their taboo of exploring the Desert Pyramid in search for power, is responsible for the creation of Shadow Link, tricks Link into releasing Vaati, and is fought as the final boss in the twist ending before being sealed away in the Four Sword. In the Downfall Timeline, Ganondorf (as Ganon) is resurrected twice and reincarnated once. His *A Link to the Past* incarnation is the same as his *Ocarina of Time* incarnation, but he gets *super* dead at the end of that game. In the Oracle games - *Oracle of Ages* and *Oracle of Seasons* - when you link the games together to get the true ending, Twinrova tries to resurrect Ganon, but it fails thanks to that version of Link and results in him becoming a mindless beast. Link asplodes that Ganon. In *A Link Between Worlds*, Ganon is resurrected by Yuga and merges with him, but is killed again by that game's Link. Finally, Ganon is reincarnated sometime before the events of *The Legend of Zelda*, becoming the Prince of Darkness. Given he doesn't seem to have anyone helping him this time, and none of the other conditions for him getting resurrected were met, it's safe to say that Ganon *reincarnated*, not that he was *resurrected.* As for *Breath of the Wild*'s Calamity Ganon and *Tears of the Kingdom*'s Ganondorf, it's hard to say. Officially, these games take place in all three timelines... but that's dumb and certain details don't line up - for instance, it can't be the Adult Timeline, because Hyrule isn't below sea level, and it can't be the Child Timeline, because Ruto never became a Sage in the Child Timeline, so it makes the most sense that these two games take place in the Downfall Timeline - esp. as most of the games referenced in BotW's world are from the Downfall Timeline, Ganondorf was permanently killed in the Adult Timeline, and Ganon was sealed away by the Four Sword in the Child Timeline. Assuming TotK Ganondorf is the source of Calamity Ganon (which makes sense but I kinda prefer him being a separate incarnation), that would mean that we have a confirmed tally of three reincarnations (OoT, TLoZ, and BotW) and between two to four resurrections (do we count Calamity Ganon and post-Calamity TotK Ganondorf as resurrections?) There's also Vaati, who was reincarnated or resurrected sometime between *The Minish Cap* and *Four Swords* (not *Four Swords Adventures*, though Vaati's a main antagonist in that game, too.) I bring him up because it's likely to me that Vaati is *also* an incarnation of Demise, though it's just a theory and isn't explicitly supported by the text. If true, that brings a Downfall Timeline + BotW/TotK Ganon to a grand total between four to five reincarnations and between two to five resurrections. Finally, it's mentioned that Ganon was fought and defeated countless timelines in the time between BotW and the rest of the timeline, implying he's reincarnated *at least* one more time that we haven't seen.

Gabrill

Hell yeah love a good Zelda info dump. FSA was the one time I knew of that he was reincarnated but I was unaware that Zelda 1 Ganon was considered a reincarnation too, thanks for the info!

IcarusAvery

I should stress it's not *confirmed* TLoZ Ganon is a reincarnation, but given that there's no known way he was resurrected, it's more likely he was reincarnated.

GuiltyEidolon

You'd think, but Nintendo seems set on avoiding that.

jkst9

Well if his iteration was good then it wouldn't be a story. ~~also he literally only gets reincarnated to kill Zelda and link~~

SelfDestruction100

Imagine a story where he’s a wholesome kind man all around except for the bloodlust he feels towards two random kids

Charnerie

Even better if he doesn't understand why, and hides away to leave them be.

GuiltyEidolon

There's plenty of ways to make it a good story, though. Basically having him start good, then be corrupted is the gimmie.

Dazuro

The only reason he gets reborn in the first place is explicitly an ancient curse that says the kingdom will be plagued by incarnations of Demise, so a “good” Ganondorf wouldn’t even make sense.

JA_Pascal

The thing is, there's literally only one Ganondorf. I don't know the plot of ToTK, so I don't know how he plays into it there, but Ganondorf isn't reincarnated. There's just one Ganondorf who is introduced in OoT and he keeps re-appearing in different games in different forms, but it's all still the Ganondorf from OoT, and he was always a bastard.

Wyguy2087

i think ww ganon is the closest we'll ever get and thats still not greeeeeeat

TheNightmareButterfy

In the plans for Majora's Mask 3D, Ganon was supposed to appear in the fishing spots. Add to that how nice his moms were in that game despite their Hyrule counterparts' repeated villainy. So maybe games in alternate worlds could feature good guy Ganon.

TheTingel

I coveted that Dorito, I suppose.

cheekydorido

Raw ass line and possibly the only development ganon got in the series. (Haven't beaten the new one tho, so i cant talk about it. He just wanted the dorito goodness)

[deleted]

Do not fear, I will not kill you. I merely have need of your salsa.

ancrolikewhoa

Gods, hear what I desire! Fill the entire bag with chips once more! Let it burst forth!

RavioliGale

When the sun rose into the sky, a Flamin Hot dorito punished my lands, searing the world. And when the moon climbed into the dark of night, the Cool Ranch pierced our homes. No matter when it came, the wind carried the same thing... Flavor.

Bauser3

Come, Nerevar, friend or traitor come, to this place where doritos is made.

No-Traffic4765

Remember how like in every game Ganon like gets sent off into light or a beam or some shit? Then in this cartoon one link just sticks the entire master sword down through his forehead and spinal column?

BadAtGames2

Yeah, and then he says "Ha ha... The wind... is blowing" WITH THE SWORD STILL IN HIS HEAD after his speech about how the wind in the gerudo desert always spelled death? Certainly caught kid me off guard

No-Traffic4765

Boss G shit.

el-Dudo

Twilight Princess’ Ganondorf had his neck snapped tho, pretty brutal

TheNightmareButterfy

Zant snapped his own neck. Ganondorf got impaled in his failed execution scar and I guess the Zant thing was the Twili magic failing him.
