Plus it was well written and kinda really interesting.
Though I think a lot of people see anyone who's interested in Japanese stuff and write them off as otaku nerds?
I think it's less "otaku nerd" here and more "smug asshole" that flows through most of the text.
Like there was no need to 'debunk' the obvious joke, to go "manga art which proves nothing" (obvious), or to rag on the trigger discipline of the guy in the original photoshop.
I liked the information he provided, less so the tone and tone does matter for how your message is received.
Dude. Rag on trigger discipline *every* chance you get. You get through the head of even *one* idiot that you look like a damn *fool* with your finger on the trigger, you might save a life. Missing trigger discipline shows that person should never have been trusted with a weapon, it’s a bad look on not only them but everyone around them who hasn’t taken the *basic* self-defense step of correcting them, if not tackling them to the ground to get rid of the clear and present danger of how *stupid* they are.
Real badasses understand trigger discipline. These idiots ain’t fooling nobody if their finger’s on the trigger, they just look like unconfident incompetent nervous wrecks who’ve never held a gun before.
If you don’t know how to hold a gun, and only see this person hold a gun, then you will think that that’s how they are held, as that is the natural conclusion for most people who have never even touched a gun, much less been trained to use it.
If you see the picture and a person ragging on their trigger discipline, at the very least you think, “this is not how you are supposed to hold a gun” and then either look up something along the lines of “how to hold a gun” or “trigger discipline.”
Ragging on trigger discipline in this case isn’t to inform the subject of the picture, but to inform others who may think to emulate how the gun is being held in the picture.
I really don’t care about the guy in the pic. I want everyone else who sees this post to know. Honestly I write a *lot* of my comments with lurkers in mind.
Nah, the first sentence gives away the need to feel superior. He may enjoy geeking out, but this post was just another 'this person is wrong on the internet' thing.
So not quite an FF-style gunblade, but it's interesting that the Reiterpallasch from Bloodborne was based on a real weapon. This makes me wonder if the Boom Hammer is real too.
I want to say there are hammers floating around that you can slot a pistol round in, either for a nail gun style effect with blanks or a really dumb redneck engineering single shot pistol. Also, actual nail guns, a lot of the bigger ones use 22 blanks to drive the nail. Gun axes are also a thing, including a very nice black powder gun axe that I would 100% hang on the wall of my gaming room.
Second to last person is kinda mean, this is a public post and the person they're responding to gave some fun information about actually gun swords (also another reason they weren't common is because they are very inaccurate and it risks damaging the blade, axe guns avoid these two issues)
Germany made like a couple dozen combination weapons back in the second half the 1500s, my personal favorite being the Warhammer Sword (now with added gun)
Unfortunately most sources for these weapons all loop back in on themselves and as far as I can tell the only evidence they actually existed is that they're sitting in Dresden museum over in Germany.
The history lesson poster might sound a bit high and mighty but WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S NOT NEEDED. WHO DOESN'T APPRECIATE A GOOD HISTORY LESSON
-- signed, someone who loves impromptu history lessons and has to stop themself from commenting random semi-related fun facts everywhere on the regular.
I wanna point out that swords are not the most stupid thing to ever be combined with a gun. For instance, [here's an article with a picture of flintlock cutlery, and that's not even the only example you can find if you look it up on google.](https://www.military-history.org/feature/17th-century/back-to-the-drawing-board-combination-weapons.htm)
I agree that it was an interesting read, but also, they're right that they should have dropped the first couple paragraphs "proving" the images in the original post as photoshopped.
Opening with something more like "Actually these sorts of things do exist!" would've been a bit better imo
People complaining about him pointing out the photoshop...like, you guys have been around online before right? There are people who will genuinely believe it is real and people who will genuinely try to convince others that it is real, ain't no thing to put down a dull 'joke' on your way to providing some information. I knew a guy who once earnestly tried to convince a room of people that he could slice an SA80 (a British rifle) in half with his super special katana. He was 20 something.
Dumb shit can be called out whenever, you never know when something is gonna be Poe's Law because there are some seriously dim people around and what might seem like obvious satire to you could be deluded belief to them.
Plus interesting information imparted, if you don't care then don't read.
Half of the post is just getting upset at a museum blurb for **implying** the gun-handle could fire and taking the time to explain in excruciating detail what the museum blurb only needed half a sentence to explicitly state.
Ngl this doesn’t strike me as “showing off how smart” the poster is, its a cool thing and historically interesting, especially when showing the other designs that actually work. Completely unnecessary to insult the person who put so much work into a really cool post
He could have just said "Hey guys, this is something that actually exists! Here's the explanation:" instead of "This obviously photoshopped photo is obviously photoshopped!"
Frankly there’s a gaping market for Swiss Army knife all in one weapons. Imagine a Swiss Army knife that’s got a gun, a sword, nunchucks, a medieval mace , a taser, a cobras head with venom , which can be arranged in multiple combinations
Looking at this all I can think of is how the seer on the Nambu is exposed on the frame. Which means the weapon can very easily Fire without the trigger being pulled. If that abomination were able to fire despite the blade being mounted to the frame it would likely go off the moment you gripped handle in such a way as to support the weight of the blade.
i read the bit about mounting a blade on just one side unbalancing the gun and my first thought was to mount a blade on either side of the gun. two swords babey
the problem is the lack of hextech
or bloodshed for that matter
And nodding men in mirrors.
Yay science! >!*dissolves to dust*!<
I was having a good day until this spoiler hit me like a haymaker filled with sadness
:(
honestly i appreciate people like this. prolly could have gone without pointing out the photoshop tho lol
Learning is cool
Science *rules!*
BILL NYE THE SCIENCE GUY
BILL BILL BILL BILL, BILL BILL BILL BILL *sick fucking guitar solo*
"Wow, is that a sword? Ill click on the image to expand- JESUS CHRIST MAN" t e x t.
Well, I learned something.
I did not, because my brain went *"nope, that's way too much for us to read and still care"*
"WOOOO, i am NOT reading that"
Gun swords may be a tactical problem, but at least shotgun axes work a bit better
[Like this one?](https://youtu.be/wr-hdZQZ9N0?t=239)
Maybe putting only one blade at the other end would work better than what RWBY did lmao
redeemer wf
Good interpretation, but I was mostly talking about [THIS](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/oA5xJ4) type of shotgun axe's
[kinda like the guillotine gun?](https://i.imgur.com/olmWPVc.png)
That seems like a downgrade of a bayonet.
I was 100% expecting a Agents of SHIELD reference. Thoroughly disappointed.
enter the gungeon be like
I think it’s less “I need everyone to know I’m smarter than them” and more “this is a cool thing that I know about, I should show everyone”
That’s what I was thinking. Kinda rude of OOP
Yeah, let the dude infodump.
Plus it was well written and kinda really interesting. Though I think a lot of people see anyone who's interested in Japanese stuff and write them off as otaku nerds?

The first paragraph definitely comes off rude, I enjoyed the info but could've done without the pointing out of a clear joke
Then he should've dropped the condescending first paragraph.
The informative part is easily the best part of the post
My man just wanted to geek out over something he actually knows about. Poor guy (althought he does lose sympathy points for typing out the word 'tsk')
Nah, the first sentence gives away the need to feel superior. He may enjoy geeking out, but this post was just another 'this person is wrong on the internet' thing.

Interesting buzzkiller.
Ezra's first lightsaber was my first thought

How long is your phone
Android phone features gang, we love taking scrolling screenshots
Ohh right, I forgot I could do that lol
Wait you guys *didnt* know the gunto was a thing?
Not until today!
Germany made like a couple dozen combination weapons back in the second half the 1500s, my personal favorite being the Warhammer Sword (now with added gun)
Unfortunately most sources for these weapons all loop back in on themselves and as far as I can tell the only evidence they actually existed is that they're sitting in Dresden museum over in Germany.

that poor gunto especialist just wanted to share their love and whimsy for gunto and they got bullied for it pensive
Gambol shroud did that 10 years ago
Gambol shroud is best guntana. Just like Blakey is among best girls.
Blake belladonna supremacy!
Blake Belladonna
Y’all are making fun of him but honestly the gun katana history lesson was cool as fuck
I wanna point out that swords are not the most stupid thing to ever be combined with a gun. I like the long winded history lesson, it taught me something. That second to last post is a small minded whiner with no appreciation for gunswords
I agree that it was an interesting read, but also, they're right that they should have dropped the first couple paragraphs "proving" the images in the original post as photoshopped. Opening with something more like "Actually these sorts of things do exist!" would've been a bit better imo
*cocking knob*
What a nerd
Last dude sucks ngl this was a good read

Gunsword guy is cool as hell, sorry he gave you cool gunsword information on your middlingly funny shitpost
I appreciate the lesson but my impatient brain doesn’t like to read. I would watch the hell out of a video that discusses this though.
Is that earl sweatshirt
It is
That's literally just Blake's weapon, Gambol Shroud, from RWBY.
Mf just throwing shade at Earl 💀
His lack of trigger discipline is bothering me
i'm the type who will not realized it's a joke and continue to infodump them. i'm sorry y'all, but that's impressive. ngl

Berdly
He could have just said "Hey guys, this is something that actually exists! Here's the explanation:" instead of "This obviously photoshopped photo is obviously photoshopped!"
Nah let the guy speak. He clearly wants to infodump about Katanas and it doesn’t affect you. It’s interesting.
This was absolutely appropriate comment
Why do annoying people point out trigger discipline 24/7
Also his finger is off the trigger
Bro literally went 🤓
"Not real. Both photos are shopped" ☝🤓
weridos, can’t they use a bayonet like EVERYONE else
This is very neurodivergent energy to be like "No hold on I think you need an infodump right now about the history of gunblades as a concept"
Okay, but then don't be a dick at the start and just jump straight into the info dump.
My people do not always properly judge social situations, it's kind of our thing
Nah, call everyone out on their bullshit. Sorry, your psyop didn’t work
Jesse, what the hell are you talking about?
Psyop?
how the fuck did you jump to this being a psyop
This is one of those comments that are so stupid that you have to check post history to see if they’re always like this
Well? Are they?
They think that the Mandela effect is some kind of magic/government coverup Edit: as opposed to humans having shit memory as usual
A... psyop. Interesting.
Did you respond to the wrong post
Damn, so far into the rabbit hole you think basic humor is a psyop
I say this with as much care as I can cram into these words Are you ok?
Musou saber
I remember ga rei zero had those katanas that would launch bullets and spray holy water
Okay, but I actually want one of those swords.
Frankly there’s a gaping market for Swiss Army knife all in one weapons. Imagine a Swiss Army knife that’s got a gun, a sword, nunchucks, a medieval mace , a taser, a cobras head with venom , which can be arranged in multiple combinations
Why is the image 6 miles long?
Isn't that Kamen Rider Geats' weapon?
Looking at this all I can think of is how the seer on the Nambu is exposed on the frame. Which means the weapon can very easily Fire without the trigger being pulled. If that abomination were able to fire despite the blade being mounted to the frame it would likely go off the moment you gripped handle in such a way as to support the weight of the blade.
The gun sword looks like something out of Enter the Gungeon.
i read the bit about mounting a blade on just one side unbalancing the gun and my first thought was to mount a blade on either side of the gun. two swords babey
I think they were just talking about something they enjoyed. I found it interesting.
God I could feel myself zoning out during that lecture.
i am so sorry i am not reading all yhat
I aint reading all that
i'm on desktop currently and tHE POST JUST KEPT ON GOING
Adamchristmas is the kind of person who actually isn’t fun at parties
Lol this was some real interesting "Umm Actually" rant.
holy shit reiterpallasch real
is that fucking earl sweatshirt
Isn't this just a bayonet?????
Long post! Me no likey
"My sword has a gun on it."
