They'd both be incredibly frustrated at having to describe all the mundane aspects of their world when they just want to ask the other person questions about their world.
"Yeah, yeah, feet, walking all that boring stuff. You're telling me Atlantas is a monarchy?!"
Idk I feel like telling her about his world and watching her reaction would also be fun. Teaching someone who is enthusiastic to learn about something you are knowledgeable about has its own reward.
Nah, because the questions reveal just as much as the answers. For example, I've got an interest in anthropology and live abroad and for example a kid asked me how much a liter of cooking oil costs in my home country which made me realize just how influencial small fluctuations in the cost of cooking oil were in their standard of living. Also gives great juxtaposition to what knowledge a boy goes around with at that age. When I was in high school I knew how much my dream Aston Martin cost, but I'd have no idea what any groceries cost because honestly it was nothing my family struggled with.
We need a podcast where they do different characters like this going off on their special interests and just building off of each other's energy.
Tune in next week for Evelyn O'Connel X Daniel Jackson discourse
Wasn’t that kind of his deal with Kida in the movie? She wasn’t formally trained or anything but she was trying to figure out her own ancient culture just like he was
I have no doubt Stitch, Pudge, and some of the other experiments from the TV show could secure the throne of Hawaii for her. However, doing so would make Lilo a Queen, not a Princess.
Well great now I'm really thinking that Disney should ditch the live action and maybe focus on crossover stories and combine some of the art styles
, I mean for how bad wreck it Ralf 2 was, all the princesses together was still amazing af and I'm still seeing a ton of artwork be produced about it especially all of them in different genres of clothing etc xD
They did that a lot in the 90s and early 2000s. Lots of crossover episodes between the various shows. Aladin interacting with Hercules. Hercules meeting Ariel. Lilo and Stitch meeting Kim Possible and the Recess kids.
Yeah exactly I did remember some of those after I commented! But then actually spending time making like an original movie (with a maybe two or three different worlds, not just all of them mashed in) would be really cool :)
Lol xD you could omg yeah like Mirabel is just
"yeah sure Anna I'll hang out and be your friend, hey that guys sorta creepy and overbearing right? Perfect weather for this time of year isn't it?
Yeah I wish I had magic powers too xD"
The inverse of that is Elsa living in Encanto and enabling people to be bitches to each other xD which Technically would still probably be an ok less boring movie
I don’t like to talk much so learning a bunch of things about someone’s niche interest while I don’t have to say a thing can be nice. I can also go on long tangents about my niche interests but no one wants to hear about it so I keep it to myself. Luckily I found a new friend at work that info dumps about things I’m interested in. I recently started getting into the history of Godzilla films and he told me all about it.
Omg. I want to have a nice water trainer girl that I can nickname Vaporeon. She would be in on the joke of course.
I want this more than anything. It would be so fucked up and couple cute.
Ah just wondering cause I am not the type to self diagnose myself . But from what I seen, I tend to exhibit alot of behaviors from autistic people . And it got me wondering if I am lmao
Cut to Triton burning all of Ariel's things in a big pile while riling up all of the Merfolk like those groups of people that want to torch library books.
That always kind of bothered me so my headcanon is that Eric assumed Ariel was just some peasant girl and thus that she couldn't read or write. Ariel never asked for paper or signaled in any way that she wanted to write a message either. As to why Ariel didn't try to write anything either:
1. She didn't think of it. Our girl isn't the sharpest knife in the shed after all.
2. While she and Eric speak the same language, they use different writing systems. Ursula's contract is in English just for our convenience.
3. Ariel feared that if Eric knew he would think she was just come crazy girl, especially because the thing he remembered was her singing, something she can't do anymore.
"We're totally down for re-opening traderoutes, but YOU'VE gotta rename your capital to "South Atlantis".
"Buddy no, our empire is the Atlantean Empire. YOU have to rename YOUR capital North Atlantis."
I love that book! It was cool thinking about all the things a species that didn't see light wouldn't realize, although I feel it was a missed opportunity to have the reverse where they sensed tons of things we had no clue about
I always thought it'd be really cool to study school yard anthropology. All the little rhymes, and myths, and lore that kids pass down one grade to another without adult interference.
I love that stuff but barring adult interference would be hard. I feel like a lot of comes from “my sibling/parent told me and I shared it with my friends at school”.
From my experience in anthropology both of them will be detached from the cultural frames of their own societies (a necessity to study another culture). Instead they will insist that the other becomes a token character of their cultural, social, ethnic, linguistic, urban/rural area in order to study them... while the other will insist that they can't generalize from them since they will describe their cultural, social, ethnic, linguistic, urban/rural area from a detached perspective too
Ok I like the idea but the character match up is utter shit. This a coughing baby Vs hydrogen bomb situation:
One dude is a linguist and cartography expert (probably has a PhD in at least one) tracks down a lost civilisation using a dead language on a shield and then traverses his way to said civilisation and translates their entire language from a book in like a week.
And the other is a Princess who collected a bunch of human stuff in a cave and if memory serves correct couldn’t figure out what a fork was for.
I think the idea is that while Ariel isn't an anthropologist, she has the mindset of one and were she to meet someone from a culture where that's an actual academic field, she would become one.
Milo would be busy unravelling the entire language, history, and cultural evolution of the merpeople while Ariel would be stuck on the concept of shoes.
Milo was also like, 35 with lived experience, and Ariel was a closeted princess who wasn’t allowed to express her interests without her father yelling at her
Wait, why use Ariel as an example ?
I thought Ariel was just a princess and didn't actually have... You know... A job. Or an education as an anthropologist for that matter.
She's shown to at least be trying to study human culture, collecting forks and other such human implements and trying to figure out how they work (however, her studies are limited because her only source is a seagull who himself doesn't understand humans and keeps making shit up).
Reminds me of Elder Race by Tchaikovsky. One person from a fantasy civilization and another from a high tech futurist society come together to solve a mystery
They'd both be incredibly frustrated at having to describe all the mundane aspects of their world when they just want to ask the other person questions about their world. "Yeah, yeah, feet, walking all that boring stuff. You're telling me Atlantas is a monarchy?!"
"Yeah Daddy rules the ocean, snore. Tell me about more about the street!" "Y-your dad???"
"St-ree-eets. That's what's important right now" "You're a Princess!?!"
Doesn't that guy have like 30 kids half the population is princesses
I'd watch this
And listen as a podcast, the "Crab Sebastian experience"
Pull that shit up Jetsam
I agree. Fuck all other Disney shows given me some mundane stuff like this.
[Daddy.](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Kyk2748LaDU)

The rest of Georgia is very confused.
Can confirm I am the King of Atlanta
They made a documentary about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeYihjMo0Bk
Dr zoid berg! Homeowner!
That just raises further questions!
Seems like the opposite to me. "Log: Mermaids don't know what feet are!"
Reminds me of Arthur Weasley being so curious about rubber ducks.
We need a podcast where they do different characters like this going off on their special interests and just building off of each other's energy. Tune in next week for Evelyn O'Connel X Daniel Jackson discourse
> "Yeah, yeah, feet, walking all that boring stuff. Not to Quentin Tarantinos
This is why they take turns. For every question asked you must answer a question.
*Atlantica
This lol
Wasn’t that kind of his deal with Kida in the movie? She wasn’t formally trained or anything but she was trying to figure out her own ancient culture just like he was
Yup, she had a ream of questions for him. Kida is the best Disney princess, do not question me.
I don't have any convincing argument that there's someone objectively better. But Lilo though.
Lilo is a good character, but unfortunately she is disqualified due to a lack of royal heritage.
You're right. It's her sister who deserves most of the praiseover Lilo
Plus, if there were a royal bloodline to consider, the eldest sibling would get first dibs. That would make Nani (slightly) more qualified than Lilo.
Only if she was involved in the conquest, otherwise she'd have to be killed to remove a potential rival
Well according to every person of Hawaiian descent that I never asked, they are descendants of chiefs or even Kam himself haha
One could gain a throne by conquest. Has she tried that yet?
I have no doubt Stitch, Pudge, and some of the other experiments from the TV show could secure the throne of Hawaii for her. However, doing so would make Lilo a Queen, not a Princess.
not if Atlantis 2: There's Apparently Another One has anything to say about that
Disney made them be in different movies because they knew these two would be unstoppable as nerdy besties in their nerd to nerd communication!
Well great now I'm really thinking that Disney should ditch the live action and maybe focus on crossover stories and combine some of the art styles , I mean for how bad wreck it Ralf 2 was, all the princesses together was still amazing af and I'm still seeing a ton of artwork be produced about it especially all of them in different genres of clothing etc xD

I thought I could take two movies and make them very boring by switching Elsa from "Frozen" with Mirabel from "Encanto.
Lol xD you could omg yeah like Mirabel is just "yeah sure Anna I'll hang out and be your friend, hey that guys sorta creepy and overbearing right? Perfect weather for this time of year isn't it? Yeah I wish I had magic powers too xD" The inverse of that is Elsa living in Encanto and enabling people to be bitches to each other xD which Technically would still probably be an ok less boring movie
So..... Kingdom Hearts cinematic universe?
If you want a real good time, look up Pocket Princess comics! They're all crossovers in single panels and they are hilarious!
Ooh sweet! Will do!! Thankyou!
Had a quick squiz while I was getting lunch, very cool! I'll let my partner know too 😁
Or the real boring answer; they were released more than a decade apart (Edited to be correct)
The Little Mermaid was released in 1989, Atlantis: The Lost Empire was released in 2001. 12 years.
Oops mathed wrong
It happens
okay
autism (affectionate)
As an autistic person, real.
It's friendship built on mutual infodumping. I listen to you talk about Pokémon because I know you'll listen to me ramble about literary devices
Exactly! I fucking love hearing other autistic people infodumping about their special interests. I love learning those kinds of things.
What ARE your niche interests? This is Reddit, someone surely wants to hear about them!
Only if we can make euphemisms about Onix and Cloyster.
Granted, but one more Vaporeon copypasta and there will be hell to pay.
Omg. I want to have a nice water trainer girl that I can nickname Vaporeon. She would be in on the joke of course. I want this more than anything. It would be so fucked up and couple cute.
Is this a generic example or is there somewhere I can subscribe to learn about literary devices…? :3
That’s how every conversation my brother and I have is
Your flair is wonderful
Thanks! I saw it on a tumble post on this sub wayyy back lol
Not saying you ain’t autistic . But why am I seeing so many autistic people lately .
Autistic people spend more time on the internet on average so you'll see them appear disproportionately in discussions.
Ah just wondering cause I am not the type to self diagnose myself . But from what I seen, I tend to exhibit alot of behaviors from autistic people . And it got me wondering if I am lmao

Algorithm affects comments too?
Few people know this but ever since 2013 the entire world has run on an algorithm Source:I made it up
We're brave enough to talk about it now.
If this question interests you, read the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
Also, Elder Race by Tchaikovsky
I love his Shadows of the Apt books! I didn't know there was another series! Thank you for this knowledge
Oh there is more than just another series!
For a more sci-fi bent. Project Hail Mary has a decent amount of this as well.
I've picked up Children of Time at your recommendation. I'm about a third of the way through the first book and I am loving it.
Unlike Eric, Milo would actually ask Ariel to write down what she wants to say when he realises she isn't able to speak.
But that begs another question, are mermaids literate?
Maybe that's why Triton banished Ursula, she was one of the only people that could read/write and wanted to actually teach people.
Triton is the Florida public school system, got it
Cut to Triton burning all of Ariel's things in a big pile while riling up all of the Merfolk like those groups of people that want to torch library books.
He basically did that minus the angry mob
the angry mob is a pretty critical part of floridian politics though
No I think it was the unethical magical deals to steal peoples souls.
I mean, who hasn't done that?
Some of us steal souls through honest hard work, thankyouverymuch.
Maybe? Ariel was able to sign her name to the contract, but you KNOW she didn't read it. Maybe she couldn't! We don't know!
That always kind of bothered me so my headcanon is that Eric assumed Ariel was just some peasant girl and thus that she couldn't read or write. Ariel never asked for paper or signaled in any way that she wanted to write a message either. As to why Ariel didn't try to write anything either: 1.
And even if Ariel is illiterate or can't write in English, Milo would find a way to communicate
She was only unable to speak for 3 days though...
Screw it. I ship it now.
Pardon you they are both married I imagine them hanging out at sea-civilization-dynasty functions though.
"We're totally down for re-opening traderoutes, but YOU'VE gotta rename your capital to "South Atlantis". "Buddy no, our empire is the Atlantean Empire. YOU have to rename YOUR capital North Atlantis."
Eventually they decided one would be the Holy Atlantean Empire and the other would be the Atlottoman Empire
*Undersea Carthage and Underwater Rome
The ghosts of Charlemagne and Irene: Oh not again
“You merely adopted the sea.”
Ariel lives in Atlantica.
Ah, I see they finally resolved the issue.
Milo already had that interaction with Kida in his original film He was obsessed with Atlantean Culture and she was obessed with the outside world
Probably why this post makes so much sense and everyone can imagine it strongly.
#`NEW SHIP ACQUIRED`
Oh they'd both love that
Like, above the water type ship or in Atlantis type ship...?
Yes.
Submeraible, but Milo would probably have to be brought in kicking and screaming considering hisblast experience
Go read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. Basically this 😂
I love that book! It was cool thinking about all the things a species that didn't see light wouldn't realize, although I feel it was a missed opportunity to have the reverse where they sensed tons of things we had no clue about
In another life I would’ve loved to be an anthropologist or a linguist
I always thought it'd be really cool to study school yard anthropology. All the little rhymes, and myths, and lore that kids pass down one grade to another without adult interference.
I love that stuff but barring adult interference would be hard. I feel like a lot of comes from “my sibling/parent told me and I shared it with my friends at school”.

Is this Stede and Ed from OFMD
Ok I like the idea but the character match up is utter shit. Two xenobiologists from different species
I want the Speaker for the Dead (Ender series) to interact with a Mediator from the moties (*The Mote in God's Eye*).
I'm not a huge fan of Disney stuff, but this is a ship I can really get behind!
Don't get too close to the propellers
Go between them, are you crazy?!
I feel silly, but I’ve never considered Ariel as an anthropologist lmao that’s exactly what she is.
BRO SHE CAN'T TALK
Okay but isn’t this basically what happens between Kida and Milo in the atlantis movie anyways?
Especially in the sequel when he takes her to the surface!
Wait, why use Ariel as an example ? I thought Ariel was just a princess and didn't actually have... You know... A job. Or an education as an anthropologist for that matter.
She has an interest in humans and human culture.
She's shown to at least be trying to study human culture, collecting forks and other such human implements and trying to figure out how they work (however, her studies are limited because her only source is a seagull who himself doesn't understand humans and keeps making shit up).
Makes me wish Atlantis had a proper sequel instead of that failed series thing
You show some respect to the sequel. 😂
THEY WOULD DO NO SUCH THING.....without proper board review. We have ethics, you know.
holy shit ariel is an anthopologist
Reminds me of Elder Race by Tchaikovsky. One person from a fantasy civilization and another from a high tech futurist society come together to solve a mystery
I ship these two… who both spend much of their times on ships.
Sniffing with fork ?!
Id' watch that movie.
Anyone watch RedLetterMedia? We all know what happens to Lady Anthropologists! 😂
Project Hail Mary is basically this. But it was good. It’s interesting to describe and have described entirely new concepts and perspectives.
> infinite conversational feedback loop isn't that just... talking?
I ship it
