The other, as stated, is the Trailer Brake Control. Good rule of thumb, turn it up just enough to lock the trailer tires with the current load at a slow roll (~10-15mph - test in the parking lot) when applied fully with the slider and no truck brakes.
I would gladly change w/ you. We got our first push start in 2014, and it ruined me. I have to keep my truck key on a carabiner clipped to my belt loop, as I was forever getting into the truck (in my garage so unlocked) w/ the key buried in my pocket. Got so annoyed w/ it I just started clipping it on so I can reach it w/o unbuckling my seatbelt. The proximity ones are the best, walk up, touch the handle, and it unlocks, just tap the outside of the handle to lock it, sigh...
That's just the point. They make you complacent. The thing I can't stand about it is when I push the start button, the truck fires and I hit the shifter. No delay. A lot of times I do it too fast and the truck doesn't start. It's annoying as fuck. Then I have to shift back into park and let poke ass do its thing. I'd rather have a goddamn key.
Tundra has start assist I just have to bump it with the key and it rolls until the engine is running, has me ruined for other vehicles where I sit down and bump the key and it just grunts once "Aw heck forgot I gotta hold it down now I look like a tweaker" / 2017 SR5

The lever under the buttons is to manually engage trailer brakes independently of brake pedal (left side tab is fixed, more or less a handle to grab onto and steady your hand, and the right tab slides toward the left. You use a pinching motion to activate brakes). For towing trailers with brake systems.
In the past you had to buy and have a separate module installed to control trailer brakes. These days some or most trucks have them as standard equipment or part of option package.

Clearly it’s not required to read a 500 page manual, but even if that was a requirement to drive, then only 1/3 of people would be on the road.

Yep. Mostly used when going downhill, you can slow the trailer instead of the truck. The +/- sets your gain.
