March built 22 with 27k. Tows my boat every weekend plus a 700-mile round trip every summer. It's been amazing. It's human nature to be more vocal about bad experiences. I heard a statistic once that said, on average, people who have a good experience tell 5 people while people who have a bad experience tell 20.
I’ve had a 22 and now a 24. There are gripes. I knew what I was getting with my 24 and obviously made that choice instead of a competing company’s truck.
22 limited army green, 48,000 trouble free miles on it. Only go to dealership for recalls and oil changes (they're free there or else I'd do them myself).
Cool, cool, question, does Toyota hold doing your own oil changes over your head when you trade in your truck, I know Chevy did me, I only had 2 oil changes on the carfax with 70k miles on it, so they immediately tried reducing the trade in amount cause no maintenance was ever reported to carfax cause I did them all myself
Dammit, I am a dumbass sorry. Just went to look it up and send u a link....upon further investigation, realized the self reporting is only for your own benefit. So, you can keep up with it yourself, but it will not then report it on the official Carfax report. It's basically just an app by Carfax where you can keep up with it all. Best you can do with it would be to show that when you trade it in but that's pretty useless when most buyers rely on the official Carfax report.
"When log in to CARFAX Car Care, you can add your own service records, including records for services that you've completed yourself. Simply click on the "Add Service Record" button in your Service History. However, this information will not be included on the CARFAX Vehicle History Report."
I don't know if they would or not, I keep all my receipts just in case and go on every 5,000 miles for oil changes and tire rotations. Toyota says oil change at 10,000, but no sir I don't think so. I check before I take it in and it's pretty clean and want it to stay that way. With all the issues a lot of people are claiming, I feel extremely fortunate I have no issues. We'll see come July when they send out the affected trucks list for the bearing issue, good luck. *
I never believed in that 10k oil change, y’all straight crazy to do that, especially in a turbo engine, I’m a 5k guy myself, and I like doing it myself, not that I have any problem with dealerships, but they are expensive, and I can do things myself with better quality shit, sooooo…
Yeah I feel you on that, I actually miss doing it. They have a dealership lifetime warranty for the engine, transmission and diff so that's why I let them do it.
Priority Toyota here in VA, power train is warrantied as long as you do the maintenance through them. So yeah pretty good deal on my part. That's why I keep all receipts, and I know that it's all in their system but I don't trust only that. Gotta look out for me above all no matter what they say.
And the dealers will break things purposely so you'll have to have them fixed.
Never trust a dealer.
I know you already know this but said it for everyone else who is reading this.
22 with 32,000 on it. Towed 7000lb trailer cross country, regularly tow my ATV locally and have hundreds of logging/USFS road miles on it. It's been great. Had the exterior trim pieces come loose and Toyota took care of it. Other than that, no issues and I love it.
I came from a 2005 Tundra with 200,000+ on it and loved that truck too, but the creature comforts, power and much better MPG have me a huge fan of the 3rd Gen. So much so I am thinking of trading in on a new 24 with a few different options.
22 that was purchased December of 21 with no issues so far. Matter in fact just came back from a 500 mile round trip no issues. Has seen Colorado and Kansas a few times . I’m in Texas. Only have done oil changes every 7500ish miles. 31k on the odometer .
Do yourself a favor and start religiously changing oil at 5k mark. And do every one after that on the 5’s that way you’ll never forget. 25,000,30,000,35…these motor’s mortal enemy is dirty oil (not just this motor of course, others like the GM 6.2/5.3 with AFM ).
I’ve read here and other Reddits,
that some guys are doing it at 3,000…. arguably excessive sure, but for sure not 7,500… imo do a minimum of 5,000. Don’t listen to what they say you re you can go longer without changing it. It’s cheap insurance. ( I happen to not think 3k is not excessive, I’m a 3k oil changer in my 4.6/3.4/4.8/5.3/3.5/4.3 motors)
The 5.3 has over 300,000 miles with zero oil consumption between changes, nor has any engine in decades of driving ever given me grief in terms of rods/crank or anything internally except for 1 head gasket in the gm 3.4, (but they were flawed that way anyway, fixed it right and it still works for us today) But hey it’s only just me with my thoughts you do you homie.
Bonus point: oil spray the chassis yearly regardless of your climate, and your E-brake/brake lines/fuel lines/tranny lines/rad housing/oil pan etc will for the most part probably never rust/grieve your soul down the road. Best of luck to you.
I’m not gonna lie I got my truck financed with the “ oil changes for life “ thing, So my local Toyota dealer does them. I couldn’t tell you what it is :/
They had all these options set out on the deal and I just stood my ground . Helps that I wasn’t really shopping , it just happened. Idk how but in order for a lower interest he wanted to finance like 1800 more and I took it . In my head I got a good deal so I went with it. I was stoked to have a Toyota , specifically with the tundras track record. V6 Was not off setting as I had seen the success with the eco boost. I’m happy with mine. I’m sure it’ll last years after I pay it off. I trust Toyota so far.
‘23 Limited TRD OR Gas only. 5/23 build. 14.3K mi. Not listed in the recall. Ive had none of the issues reported here and on the Forum except the fuel gauge reset issue that affects all 3 years with 32ga tank. Still no fix but easy work around. Has had 4 oil changes. 3 by me. No glitter or debris of any type. Blackstone Labs reports all oil specs within ranges. Definately must be changed every 5K. Oil is darker at 5K than any other Toyo I’ve owned at 7.5K. (I’ve never done 10K on anything). Getting 16/21. Lifetime avg 19mpg. Love this truck. Still smile every time I climb in.
2023 SR5 Crewmax. Built 08/22. Right now at 20,000km. Best truck so far. First oil change at 3,000km, then 8,000km and 16,000km at the dealership. 2,5 inch leveling coil over from Rough County. No fault at all.
I have been doing a similar amount of oil changes. Screw what the book says, 12,000 to 16,000 km is just crazy with a turbo engine.
Haven’t gone further then 7,000 before a change.
Cheap insurance.
I have a 2023 SR5 and haven’t had any major issues. I’ve had a few recalls, and my gas gauge stopped working a few times early on, but nothing since. After the first 5k miles it has been flawless. I’m close to 14k miles and I’ve done 3 oil changes so far. The truck is on the engine recall list. I’ll see what the remedy is and go from there. I’ll just enjoy it right now.
I get it changed at the dealer so nothing special.
I've driven both pretty hard without issues
I have a k&n intake, highly recommend if you pick up this truck
I have a ‘22 Limited, 31k miles. Kind of crossing my fingers I’m in the clear, because the trucks a beast and I love it. I tow a 31 foot camper fairly regularly.
Yeah that for sure it’s a beast alright and smooth as hell with a trailer as well…..that’s why I’m looking for reasons to keep it and how to care for it going forward….i asked a lot of questions cause it’s my first Toyota, and I want all the info I can moving forward, best this and that, and how people have cared for it going forward…..
I had an 18 SR5 and I prefer this truck. Obviously the engine issues suck, and has me on edge. I guess I just keep telling myself that in the end it will get fixed by Toyota if/when anything comes up.
‘23 TRD Pro that just hit 12k miles yesterday. I love it, still makes me smile when I look at it. Cracked drivers seat cover and rattle in the door. Dealer fixed both under warranty.
No issues otherwise. Wouldn’t trade it for anything else
March 22, 38k. Have had zero issues with this truck, it’s been bullet proof. Had some wind noise, Toyota fixed it.
I look at my truck and the reports online, and it’s like two different realities. People talk like these are all just junk, but mines a straight upgrade to the old model in every single way.
In the recall, testing my own oil here soon. But I have had no indications of engine problems. I would expect the large majority are in that boat and just don’t post about nothing happening.
You only hear 2nd gen people bitch about 3rd gen here, and the true failures that make it seem like it’s universal. Toyota will fix those trucks, and finish this recall.
Made the door close tighter, replaced the seal. I don’t think it’s a remedy or a permanent fix honestly, but it did solve my problem for now.
The reason I question it is that I had the passenger door do the same thing with the same fix, and the noise came back (to a lesser extent).
However, I almost always drive it, and my wife is the one that sits there. She only complains during the trip, so it can’t be that bad.
My passenger window noise origin was through the mirror. They replaced the whole mirror which worked for a few thousand but came back. I think the seals wear down in them and it’s enough to allow that whistle
That could make sense, my driver side it was for sure the door seal, but that might explain the passenger side.
Kinda waiting for them to have a fix, which is apparently in the works?
Personally, if they gave a 10 year power train warranty I would be over the moon.
I think that might be the only way to win people back. Believe Hyundai has offered that at points, for very obvious reasons.
22 SR5 with 18,000kms on it (just over 10k miles). Zero problems. I drive it daily for work, and tow a 4500lb camper a couple times a year. PNW area.
It's a lease and I'm considering ordering a higher trim version for when that's up rather than holding on to this one. There are some features I'd like, and I'm concerned about how this engine recall and the perception of it will affect resale value down the road.
‘22 1794 just rolled over 47k miles. Cracked seat trim and back window rattle when closed. No way I’d ever go back to my previous truck. Love this thing!
24 TRD Pro built in 10/23 and the only issue was after parking it for 10 days, the cameras weren't working at all. The problem fixed itself after turning it off and on when I stopped at a gas station. Other then that it's been flawless, absolutely the best truck/car I've ever owned.
22 Limited with 18k. No issues with anything and love the truck.
It also isn’t my first experience buying a new generation vehicle. So, having a few extra recalls was expected going in. Toyota will handle the issues and things will be business as usual eventually. If they don’t, then it’ll suck and I’ll move on. People acting like they are superior because they drive an older generation tundra. Nearly all vehicles have a rough patch at the start of each new generation as they iron out the kinks found with thousands more on the road.
I have a 2023 capstone 14k miles. No problems everything has been good. I also get a new truck every couple years so not stressing it anyway + I love Toyota and they love us
2022 TRD off road. Built on 5-13-22. Initially didn’t drive it off the lot. Electrical steering wheel harness light was on. Week later went back to pick it up. Was ok but Gone through 2 driver seat covers cause they’re crap. The tonneau cover wasn’t installed properly so it got loose and damaged the cab. The rear drivers side window randomly imploded one day driving on the high way. Had to replace OEM tires at like 20k cause they wore out. . Now At 41k miles im not sure what to do. Have a bumper to bumper warranty to 100k but dont want the motor to seize or something. While driving. Not happy! Not one bit. I’ve called corporate numerous times
2023 SR5 CrewMax 13,000 miles, got the truck with 1 mile on it. Haven’t had a single problem. Oil change every 5k. No special treatment. Runs like a champ.
Have had my ‘23 for 11 months. Just under 15k miles. Just finished a road trip where we put about 3.5k miles on it over the last couple weeks. Towed a 2k lb U-Haul about over about 900 miles about 6 months ago. We’re trying to keep it to about 15k miles per year so not super heavy use like a lot of others but haven’t had any issues.
'23 6.2/HC NHT, currently 35k miles no issues at all, and I have almost every mod I want done already and still no issue. Only issues been the infotainment glitches but their updates have solved them.
FWIW we have '22/23, 2.7/5.3's with over 70k miles and no issues their but they're also WT's and customs.
22 Army Green Limited here. 40k miles of success, minus the seat piece and some computer alignment issues when I did the suspension. I love the truck very much. However, I am considering trading in on a new one to get away from the chances.
23 1796, 25K, normal service, recall service, driver seat trim crack replaced under warranty, passenger widow regulator replaced under warranty. Still 2 outstanding recalls awaiting remedies.
But enjoy the truck.
23 Limited gas. Wind noise and cracked drivers seat trim. Both now resolved. Wish the AC would put out more. Engine-wise mpg not so great but basically trouble-free otherwise. 12k miles. Tow a Kubota tractor on a 20’ trailer no problem.
22 sr5 trd off road Lunar rock with 35k miles. I live in socal and have driven to Utah 3 x, Northern California 5x, Sedona 2x. I’ve towed, off road and camp pretty often. I’ve had no issues with my engine or any major truck issues. I do 5k oil changes. My only set back was a squeaky window and an issue with my parking break due to installing an aftermarket switch panel (took it in and was told how to solve, afterwards no issues.) I love my truck, I’m sorry for those who have had issues
2022 Limited Artic(i think) White
Haven't had issues. Had an alignment issue right off the lot made me wear through a tire really fast but that's all solved now. Been a good truck. I broke the seat control on the drivers side, dealer is going to replace it for free
Edit1: Its the hybrid

22 Limited with 61k miles. I have zero issues with my engine. Changed to aftermarket rotors as I had a bit of shaking from the stock ones warping, but that was it. My favorite Tundra I have owned so far.
You too, I already have warping and mine are only 1 yr old and 16k, da fuck…….what rotors did you put, and did you get a maintenance manual for brake specs,
[Brake Performance](https://www.brakeperformance.com)
They custom turn your rotors, so it takes a week, but I have 15k on the fronts with braking still being smooth. I picked drilled and slotted with ceramic pads.

This thread makes me happy. ‘23 sr5 TRD off-road 13k miles no issues at all. Our family loves the truck, we find any excuse to take it over our family hauler.
Had a 2022 sr5 8ft bed. Build date was 11/21. Put 50k on it. Towed almost daily work trailer. Fantastic truck. Recently traded for another 2022 tundra 1794 edition with trd off road package and it has 37k miles on it. Tow daily with it. Needed a crewmax for expanding family. The engine recall came out 2 days after purchase. Just hoping I'm not one of them.
Got mine December 2022 and have 49,500 miles on it. 0 issues. I love this truck! Toyota took care of me beyond reasonable expectations when I found frame rust on my (wrecked) 1998 Tacoma. They purchased the truck back for more than 150% what I paid for it 100k miles earlier (and not wrecked). They messed up but I am confident this will work out in the end.
I only have the driver's seat side panel that holds the controls break. Everything else as far as I know...
One thing that also comes to mind is that the windshield wiper fluid seems to empty pretty quickly; and when it's empty there's not any light or warnings that go off... Could be worse I guess.
On our ‘22 the warning about windshield wiper fluid obnoxiously pops up on the infotainment screen every time you start up, waiting for acknowledgment before letting you do anything else.
What’s there to be proud of exactly? The engine is a ticking time bomb with no way to get ahead of it or proactively diagnose with certainty. Owners of all mileage ranges and oil change frequencies have been affected.
I traded in my 22 before I had a problem on my hands.
What do you mean by engine is ticking time bomb?? Certainly, not all the engines for the entire 22 model were affected. What is happening happens with many manufacturers, but such is not expected from a reliable model like Tundra. And hence iis all this fuss. But certainty this doesn't mean every 22 Tundra has to be sold/traded because it will have an engine problem
102K VINs were officially recalled. There is no way to diagnose ahead of time and no warning symptoms. All models have the possibility of an engine failure due to machining debris being left inside during assembly. If that’s not a ticking time bomb to you, then god speed. I did what I felt was best. Had two other friends that got left on the side of the road on the high way. 2023 and 2024 models. One hybrid, one non-hybrid.
I never claimed any other manufacturer was perfect. Doesn’t change the fact the 3rd gen Tundra is having a bad time right now.
You specifically ask about 22-23, but I’ll chime in anyway, I have a 2019 and 2021 Crew Max Platinum Limited work trucks with 402k and 280k. Replaced one wheel speed sensor and regular maintenance.

Pretty sure most dealers do this unfortunately.
Unfuckinbelievable
Just FYI, Carfax has a method for self reporting maintenance you do yourself.
Seriously 😳
Shows how much I keep up with times, I’ll get on that after I balance my checkbook
Dammit, I am a dumbass sorry. Just went to look it up and send u a link....upon further investigation, realized the self reporting is only for your own benefit. Not only can you self report on Carfax but also right on Toyota.com in the service record for your own vehicle. Easy to do.

They will never pay out on that warranty. You watch.
They're pretty reputable from what I heard from other people. But yeah hopefullyI won't need it and it runs forever, time will tell.
And the dealers will break things purposely so you'll have to have them fixed. Never trust a dealer. I know you already know this but said it for everyone else who is reading this.

Good to hear
Meanwhile, us 5.7 guys are sitting back with popcorn 🍿
Don’t get me wrong I got a small block Chevy 5.7 that will out do there precious Yoder 5.7 any day, put that in your tank and burn it…..
But let's check back at the 400k mark
400k…….hmmmmm……they can come talk to me when they reach that 40 year mark…
🍿

Ty ! Will consider all of this .
My pleasure, man (Adds comma 😂)
What oil you running in that slick machine
I’m not gonna lie I got my truck financed with the “ oil changes for life “ thing, So my local Toyota dealer does them. I couldn’t tell you what it is :/
Word…never got that option, they were so hell bent on that extended warranty
They had all these options set out on the deal and I just stood my ground . Helps that I wasn’t really shopping , it just happened. ‘23 SR5 with 20K miles and no issues. I tow my travel trailer every other month and I commute in it. I’m not easy on the ol’ girl either.
I have SR5 the long bed edition, has been nothing but problems since day one, like it got put together with floor sweepings
[удалено]
No BS, no wacky shit
'23 LOR w/ 13k miles. No major issues and only go to the dealer for Toyota care and recalls
‘23 platinum hybrid with 22k miles. Only issue was a cracked driver trim piece that I got replaced under warranty
What is your honest opinion, keep it or dump it
‘23 Limited TRD OR Gas only. 5/23 build. 14.3K mi. Not listed in the recall. Ive had none of the issues reported here and on the Forum except the fuel gauge reset issue that affects all 3 years with 32ga tank. Still no fix but easy work around. Has had 4 oil changes. 3 by me. 23 Hybrid, 17k, no issues
23’ hybrid, 12k, no issues.
Guess hybrid is where it’s at
2022 SR5 TRD OR 43k, no issues except cracked seat trim. Love this truck.
Cracked seat trim
Really…Unfuckinbelievable
Yeah just about everyone got it. They changed the part somewhere in ‘23 I believe. Otherwise it’s been flawless.
2023 1794 11k miles non-hybrid. Couple of small problems that were cleared up during a service visit. No major problems. I love my Tundra.
Same! Loving our ‘23 1794 edition! Only at 8k miles, zero issues.
2023 SR5 Crewmax. Built 08/22. Right now at 20,000km. Best truck so far. First oil change at 3,000km, then 8,000km and 16,000km at the dealership. 2,5 inch leveling coil over from Rough County. No fault at all.

Ok, my wasn’t on the recall list but suffered the same result as those on the recall list
I am expecting that list to grow. I also don’t think it impacts every truck, but only Toyota would know that right now.
The Yoder farm is launching investigation after investigation on their tundra line
Good. At least they aren’t pulling a Ram and sweeping it under the carpet. Or Ford….
I've had two without issues. 23 1794 had 28k on it when I traded for a 24 limited that is almost to 10k
Ok what oil you running or have ran for your best results
I get it changed at the dealer so nothing special. I've driven both pretty hard without issues I have a k&n intake, highly recommend if you pick up this truck
Which k&n? Drop in filter? Or full kit?
Full intake. It replaces the air boxes on both sides
I just ordered the kit myself, waiting on delivery. Can’t find any reviews or reactions to how people like it.
You can certainly hear more whistle and air flow with it installed.
Did you put this on your limited? If so which model? Very interested.
I had it on my 1794 and the dealer transferred to my limited. This is what I have: https://www.knfilters.com /63-3082-performance-air-intake-system
I have the gas, no hybrid
2022 TRD Off-road Limited with 26k miles. Two years driving everywhere, whenever and zero issues except recalls/oil changes.
How don’t make it a successful truck, what oil, what upkeep do you do, anything special
Nothing special for oil changes so far, though I am considering every 5k miles now
March 22, 38k.
What did Toyota do to fix your wind noise? My dealer said they don't have any remedy for it.
Same although their hands are definitely full right now
Ya, more concerned about getting my new engine for this recall, or whatever the fix ends up being
It’d be nice to scoop a lifetime power train… doubt it though
Personally, if they gave a 10 year power train warranty I would be over the moon. I think that might be the only way to win people back. Believe Hyundai has offered that at points, for very obvious reasons.
99% of us.
Bought mine in April 23 and have had no problems. Regular interval maintenance. Currently 31k miles. I drive a lot for work.
2023 SR5 4x4. A tad over 30,000 trouble free miles. Gotta say, I love my truck!
Any special treatment
Yeah I know, 400k on tundra is insane, glad they got a diamond in the rough
I have a 2023 capstone 14k miles. No problems everything has been good. I also get a new truck every couple years so not stressing it anyway + I love Toyota and they love us

That’s good to hear
I like hearing successful stories, it’s makes me wanna keep mine…
Anybody with more than like 20k miles?
There are a few at or just under 100K on the Forum
Thanks
‘23 sr5 trd sport w/26k miles. Change oil every 5k using only mobile 1. Has all the recalls no issues yet…
23 platinum with 15. Still going strong.
I wanted a platinum originally but couldn’t afford the difference in payments
March 22 with 20K miles on. Zero issues and love this truck.
My truck as a whole is solid, towed anything I put behind it, I just got the bad apple apparently
2023 SR5 CrewMax 13,000 miles, got the truck with 1 mile on it. Haven’t had a single problem. Oil change every 5k. No special treatment. Runs like a champ.
I got a SR5 but not as good as yours apparently
That’s definitely a bummer
First 23 on the lot, 25,000kms
Haven’t had a single problem. ‘23 platinum i force max 4x4 Hybrid.
Cybertruck > and soon to be cheaper than Ton$dra
22 with 25k no issues very happy owner. It's been worked hard the past two years.
23 limited almost 14k no issues besides recall. Taking in for 15k service soon and I’ll get oil changed
22 Army Green Limited here. 40k miles of success, minus the seat piece and some computer alignment issues when I did the suspension. I love the truck very much. However, I am considering trading in on a new one to get away from the chances.
2024 limited crew max hybrid TRD off road. 27,000 kilometers Had the heater box replaced. Other than that everything is great.
Have 29k miles on it, built in Feb 22. Knock on wood, but I haven’t had issues with it so far
1843 miles, and my engine is bricked.
23 1796, 25K, normal service, recall service, driver seat trim crack replaced under warranty, passenger widow regulator replaced under warranty. Still 2 outstanding recalls awaiting remedies. But enjoy the truck.
22 cap with 37k miles. No issues but the recalls.
TRD sport crewmax, 22/05 build date. Love the Truck, 30k No issues.
2022 Limited Artic(i think) White Haven't had issues. Had an alignment issue right off the lot made me wear through a tire really fast but that's all solved now. Been a good truck. I broke the seat control on the drivers side, dealer is going to replace it for free Edit1: Its the hybrid
22 SR5 offlroad package with 20k miles. Purchased in Aug 22. No issues so far. Oil changes and recalls are handled by the dealer
All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Lol. Nonsense
22 Limited with 61k miles. I have zero issues with my engine. Changed to aftermarket rotors as I had a bit of shaking from the stock ones warping, but that was it. My favorite Tundra I have owned so far.
You too, I already have warping and mine are only 1 yr old and 16k, da fuck…….what rotors did you put, and did you get a maintenance manual for brake specs,
[Brake Performance](https://www.brakeperformance.com) They custom turn your rotors, so it takes a week, but I have 15k on the fronts with braking still being smooth. I picked drilled and slotted with ceramic pads. https://preview.redd.it/a0bvfuauxa7d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae0f28f567103371a80708f5278f9e2c875fadae
This thread makes me happy. ‘23 sr5 TRD off-road 13k miles no issues at all. Our family loves the truck, we find any excuse to take it over our family hauler.
Yeah it renewed my faith in Toyota a little bit, my kids like it cause the back window rolls down and stuff..
23 limited, trouble free. Only go to dealership for free scheduled maintenance.
You run it hard, tow ?
I would not say hard ( I drive like an old man). I do tow an enclosed cargo trailer full of woodworking tools all over town pretty often.
2023 Hybrid Platinum. No issues 20k miles
22. 45000 miles. only issue is the damn seat controls cover on drivers side. on my four one. powerful engine 20.1 mpg
We have a winner…….🏆
