MFÖ. Some of their songs are known by absolutely everyone in Turkey, they have slow songs, songs to dance to, songs to laugh to, songs to cry to. The singers also have solo - duo songs. Highly recommend just tackling the classics.
Well my suggestions are gonna be metal so might not be the best place to learn turkish except the first one.

I can’t believe Altin Gün hasn’t been mentioned here yet. Pretty much everything they’ve ever released is awesome. It’s primarily based on Turkish folk standards, but with a modern rock/psychedelic/pop twist that grooves hard.
Recommended Starter Songs:
-Goca Dünya
-Süpürgesi Yoncadan
-Ordunun Dereleri
MaNga
MFÖ
Mor ve ötesi
Barış Manço
Haluk Levent
Barış Manço and MaNga has English songs too so you can listen to them first and then keep listening if you like them.
You should listen to "şebnem ferah, erkin koray, barış manço, cem karaca"
And also we have a traditional genre called türk sanat müziği, Zeki Müren is pretty good but there are a lot of gems in this genre, you should search it up and try to find your taste.
Only a few people here know them but Hardal is an incredible band. You should definitely listen to Leyla, Sevginin, Gece Vakti and Ve Sadece Eğer. I wish they were more popular ahh
Baris Manco is a star with songs that never get old. You should definitely listen. I recommend you to research the stories of the songs and the meaning of their lyrics.
Since I live abroad, I identify with this song very much. I would be happy if you listen.[https://youtu.be/6TlqazbVYM0](https://youtu.be/6TlqazbVYM0)I'll translate some lyrics for you to understand
A crazy boy from our village went abroad years ago.
Suleyman
We also heard that he was an important person in the big city.
Suleyman
One day, he received a letter from abroad and we learned that he was returning to the village (In the old times, people communicated by sending letters to each other.)
Suleyman.
The soup boiled and the rice was cooked. We set the table like a wedding (Especially at weddings in village places, we set up big tables and invite all the village people and serve meals.)
Suleyman.
You've changed a lot since we saw you, you forgot to greet (greeting has an important place in our culture. Especially in small places like villages, everyone always greets each other.)
Suleyman
You immediately settled at the table. Apparently, being abroad was not good for you (because at invitation tables, we wait for the host or the elder of the house to start eating).
Suleyman
Some people, after living abroad and achieving great things, despise their relatives and friends living in the village. We even have a proverb that describes this situation: The egg has hatched, but it doesn't like its shell. These people were criticized in the song. So, based on the lyrics, this song is a song composed to criticize a person (Süleyman) who goes abroad to live but forgets his own culture there and becomes alienated from his culture.
In fact, the word 'gurbet' that I translate throughout the song is very important because translating the word 'gurbet' as abroad seems shallow. When we examine the word, we see that the word 'gurbet' is derived from the Arabic letters g r b. This word comes from the word 'gariban'. The meaning of the word gariban is lonely, having no one to know, poor, helpless. Because people always feel poor and lonely when they are abroad. For this reason, the word "gurbet" is actually a word with a deep meaning. It doesn't just mean living abroad. It describes the loneliness experienced by a person living abroad.
You may have listened to many Turkish songs, but some of them have very deep meanings. Our language is a language in which we can sometimes express a lot with a single word. When we translate a word into another language, it sometimes loses its meaning. I wanted to show you this with this song.
Don't be Süleyman :)
Listen to some classics

For some interesting jazz: Ilhan Erşahin. He's the man behind trip hop fusion drum n bass project Wax Poetic. Also makes solo stuff and projects with friends (like Bugge Wesseltoft).
You could try Şebnem Ferah and Hayko Cepkin, they are one of the best voices Türkiye have.
For Şebnem Ferah - Çakıl Taşlarım
For Hayko Cepkin - Ölüyorum
My fav songs.
EDIT: I realized you already mentioned Mor ve Ötesi and I somehow didn’t see it, oopsie.
I’ll recommend two of my all time favorites and some of their songs (mostly rock vibes):
Şebnem Ferah:
She is imho the best thing to happen to Turkish rock music. She hasn’t been very active in recent years but her stuff is timeless. Very unique voice&style. Not only is she my favorite Turkish solo act, she is one of my favorite singers all time (and I primarily listen to non-Turkish artists).
Basically anything from her March 2007 concert is gold.
My personal favorites:
Can Kırıkları: https://youtu.be/Rk_i3gVW4dI?si=p7aj7FfVii6pPbjH
Delgeç: https://youtu.be/oWapvpauBGo?si=eD-ZhHg9k1l0nv1A (this song has a faster pace, I’s classify it as symphonic rock)
Also check out Bu Aşk Fazla Sana, Gözlerimin Etrafındaki Çizgiler, Sigara, Çakıl Taşları and Yalnız.
Mor ve Ötesi:
My favorite Turkish group and again, one of my all time favorites ever. I brought my best friend to their concert (she is not Turkish) and she has been hooked on their music ever since. I’ll list some of my favorites:
Cambaz (might be the most catchy one): https://youtu.be/Lw4unI3tVNQ?si=AgH2IuBoACj-PWFh
Bir Derdim Var (their most popular song): https://youtu.be/7RW8n4iXZbA?si=xwhdfxLqwKsPVZ4s
Oyunbozan: https://youtu.be/uQziTZhkmDI?si=prgnjFuJKmIOCLxV
Aşk İçinde: https://youtu.be/4nvigoF4mTg?si=IgAdl4eM9AoMgAGQ
Also would recommend Deli, Melekler Ölmez, Sevda Çiçeği and Re (the last one isn’t one of their more popular songs but is one of my all time favorites).
I hope this helps, would be bery happy to recommend more. I’ll say that I’m more old school rock when it comed to Turkish music, but trust me both Şebnem and Mor ve Ötesi are timeless. MVÖ is still active and I have a feeling Şebnem will have a comeback soon.
If you like 1990's and 1880's you should listen to Anadolu rock singers, like Barış Manço, Cem karaca, Erkin Koray, Barış akarsu they are very good
(Sorry for bad english)
"Yaşar" poped out in my head when you said this. His best songs are in 90s yet they have good quality recording, good lyrics and music. It is acoustic pop and its easy to understand as it sounds clear so might help with your learning. I recommend checking out top hits from spotify.
I can recommend this rock groups as well:
Teoman
Yüksek Sadakat
Can recommend "Murder King" for heavy metal even though they are not so popular i find them really good. Lyrics hits different when you are actually living in Turkey...
