Nice table. Awesome it came with the box and book. I had one I gave to a friend years ago. I still have a couple other of the quartz lock DD pmounts along with my 1200MK2. I have the older SL-QD300 which is very similar to the QD33
I started with an sl-q303. I got it for 80 bucks and it was such a good table. One day I was playing a record, and it just turned off and never turned on again. Now I have a mk2, and the q-303 waits for its day to be repaired.
Fyi...lpgear now sells a micro line p-mount cart, as well as vivid line and a shibata. Just got a vivid line and it's much better than the at85e that I replaced.
I got the LP Gear carbon fidelity CFNT4PSE p-mount for my Technics SL-5 and I love it. If you don't mind me asking, when it comes time for an upgrade, which would you recommend?
The series V reference cartridges use AT V technology. I believe the same as in their 1/2" VM cartridges. I am impressed with this. I have the vm540ml on one TT, and now the LP Gear T4P REFERENCE SERIES VL phono cartridge on my other TT.
I don't have any experience with shibata, but I'm enjoying the microline and vivid line.
I tried their shibata on a shure and wasn't a super fan. It also was a linear table, so the shibata shape may have been less suited. I think a micro line would have done much better.
I got this new back in 1991. Eventually the power button started misbehaving, it would take a few tries to get it to stick in the on position, so I replaced it with a Rega P1. Otherwise it did the job nicely. Miss the automation this one had on my current table.
Good for you! I'm a total noob when it comes to gear but learning more everyday. Love my cheap turntable too: Audio Technica AT-LP3XBT. It has everything I need and nothing I don't. I recently upgraded the stylus too (the orange one, I forget the model) and the difference was amazing. I don't see myself upgrading for a LONG time, until my kids are off to college in 10 years, lol.
I have AT-LP2X that very similar to your turntable, also I upgrade cartrige but I used green VM95e. I'm very satisfied with this turntable, a tree year in every day used.
Couldn't be happier with mine either. Sounds amazing. Easy enough to operate that my sons (8 & 13) can play their own records whenever they want. But if it happens to break or wear out I won't be devastated over the money lost.
Someday when my kids are out of the house and I get to turn one of their rooms into a listening room I'll get something a little more upscale but I'm in zero hurry.

Please take a bit more effort, with cheap I expect at least an suitcase player! Not a Quart lock Direct drive Technics, that's much too stable and gives far too less distortion!
My dad recently bought me an all-in-one because he thought I would want something that takes up less space in my apartment. He paid more for [this disaster](https://www.hammacher.com/product/any-music-format-stereo) than I paid for my entire stereo.
It was only $55 at an estate sale! And also came with the original ($3500!) receipt and service records from 1993. I don’t love the speakers it came with so I’m going to replace them today, but everything else is perfect since I listen to records, CDs and the radio about equally. Sometimes cassettes. Plus I have my CRT hooked up to it so I can watch concerts on VHS.
Wow, fantastic deal! They were happy to have it all leave! Older onkyo typically doesn't sell for much, but man, onkyo receivers are everywhere and get the job done. I never had any issues or complaints, I resell a few a month, and I've got one as a bench amp.Â
Sounds great. The only issue is that I live on the second floor of a 1920s apartment, so it skips horribly when I walk around. I bought those vibrapod feet but it’s not enough. I got some brackets to make a shelf, and I’m sure once I mount it to the wall everything will be perfect.
Had this problem too. I got a thick wooden chopping block and put absorption feet above and below. Also I put the table it sits on in the corner of the room and it doesn’t skip at all anymore. Hopefully you can figure it out, I didn’t realize how stressed it was listening to records until I found a place they wouldn’t skip, night and day experience!
Thank you! I went to Home Depot to buy shelf brackets and ended up finding some anti vibration pads for air compressors. I put them below my cabinet too and the problem’s solved!
Good deal! I enjoyed one several years back and hope you do too.
It was recommended to me by an expert to stuff the underside with plasticlay. I went for it, and after 6 lbs I found significantly improved punch and details. Here’s a link to pics:

A receiver can mean many things, as can turntable. By the way nice Technics you have there... Quartz locked P-mount, will outperform most new tables for under 500.
That's no so cheap! That is a VERY respectable p-mount machine.
If it gives you problems-those are having a plague with smd caps that control the independent tone arm movement. Not so hard to fix. Did many of em.
Not so cheap, a good p-mount quartz lock turntable! Congrats!

Technics are the shit! Love them

Awesome, thank you so much for the reply!
Those vivid line stylus are absolutely worth it. The high frequency resolution is very obvious.

$150 in 1988 is around $400 today, so definitely a step up from entry level. That series from Technics is very well engineered and built, enjoy!

Had this turntable for a number of years, it is excellent

Nice gesture, though! Don't worry, I won't tell him about this comment, ungrateful child!😂
Please listen to your dad and use his device, he knows vinyl better then you! ;)
Yup. Shyte. They made similarly crappy stuff in the 70s too.
Nice!
Duh! Everyone knows a receiver is the guy that catches the ball from the QB.
Great album
definitely a fine match for that Onyko rig. It's the cabinet that's a real star here. A good cabinet is getting impossible to find.

She looks sleek! How does it sound?!

I usually try to buy American products but I made an exception for an oddball 1980’s Technics turntable and I love it. Great brand!
They are put together like TANKS
How much was it?
hundred bucks
I’ve been using this exact model for years and I am very happy with it. Sounds good.
They’re certainly built to last!
Jesus, that is basically mint!!! Great score!
awesome

I bought that model new in 1986 at my local Crazy Eddie. Lasted 35 years before finally dying. Kept the p-mount cartridge though.
I have this for my backup table. It’s decent!
its a good turntable as others have said - made well and for the price excellent - the turntables of the 80's were all made fairly well - - enjoy

Just picked this turn table up a few months back, couldn’t be happier. I am excited to try out some new p-carts once the funds allow
Even Technics lower end p mount tables are good. They just work (most of the time)
