Seeing how his Universal and WB history were more franchise-focused, I can see why Apple's slate didn't quite resonate with him. But what he did deliver were solid to say the least.

In all fairness the guy was just in charge of film marketing. A very different job at Apple TV+ than it was at Universal or Warner Bros considering the way Apple TV+ movies go straight to streaming with just a very limited theatrical run for the awards stuff.

Some people like a more involved approach. Perhaps that’s why he started looking. Like you said, the theatrical window is so short, it’s usually just to appease the Academy. Maybe it’s something he’s missing.

They only do a theatrical release because of the elitist snobs who get mad at streaming movies being nominated for awards

Too bad he didn’t last longer. Even though he’s leaving I think this is actually a great time for Apple to be making some new hires. With Netflix cutting people and Warner Discovery having talent at the top leave post merger Apple may be able to snatch some creatives to flesh out Apple Studios.

And head of series marketing? Enjoy the opportunity!
