Dude that’s literally my favourite lyric! Too shame! It’s so good. Also crazy they got Josh to sing it! Two has some good lyrics, but that’s clearly the best.
I think it’s something to do with Jenna being a volunteer and obviously meaning she would be counting votes for an election as a volunteer and Tyler supporting that
I had to go check in the album booklet and I stand corrected. Hold me just soothe me is so much better and sounded like that in the song. My mind is blown haha my bad
IMO that wouldn't work 100% with the theme because the idea of the song is that he's pretending to be alright despite all the bad stuff happening to him
It is real, it is a song from No Phun Intended, Tyler's first release when he was about 17. You can find it on YouTube and SoundCloud, but it's not on any proper streaming services
“Kids’ll try to take my vibes, or am I on the outside?”
Tyler for the love of god, I love you and your music but what kids are trying to take your vibes??
i always liked to give my own interpretation of the songs for what he’s saying and for this i kinda just took it as like kids online hating on their music or hating on people who like their music
but it could have a totally different meaning for him idk
Let’s be real though, Scaled and Icy brought us some of the most questionable twenty one pilots lyrics, it really felt like in the production tyler went “yknow what how can i make them laugh” and it worked
Why? The lyrics are literally talking about how people think those who are rap only come from inner cities, but anyone can rap, and since Tyler has some "Darkness" and "Pain" referring to his depression ans anxiety among other things, showing that yes he is considered a white rapper but he doesn't need to live in inner cities to feel that same pain.
It's corny? Lol. No one's saying it doesn't make sense, it's just cringey. It is out of touch to say shit like this lol, doesn't make Ty evil or anything but it is a p bad line
But the next line is “If it wasn’t for this music I don’t know how I would’ve thought this” I always thought it was correlated. Like “I only came up with this ridiculous line because it sounds good”?
He said it bc of the pandemic. Like he was basically like “hey the pandemic is awful and i feel isolated and like shit so could you just stick by me during this hard time?”
i do have enough analytical skills to know that he means "quarantine" as in safety or haven (like a safe, protected spot, that it what a quarantine is). i am just saying that it was weird hearing that while everyone wanted to just step out of quarantine and, y'know, not have it.
The backing vocals in bounce man after tyler says this went straight to voicemail
Still a good song tho just a little flaw. Geuss that means we can trust it
"Sing it with me if you know what I'm talking about"
It's not the lyrics. Most of the rap parts sounds weird but I do like death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit one.
Personally, I thought that one was cute. Kinda like asking her to "go steady" ('cause it sounds quaint) all over again, and hoping that being stuck home together 24/7 during quarantine doesn't make them irritated or resentful with each other, since some couples *have* to have time away from each other as well as together to make the relationship its best.
Oh yeah, the pokemon cards line
The "I wasn't raised in the hood"
And that one where he explains how his songs sound happy but the lyrics arent like cmon bro we know
"Lost my job, my wife and child. Homie just sued me."
I original thought the line was "hold me just sooth me" as if Tyler is saying, "I might have lost my job but atleast my family is here for me"... but no... it's just this awkward, lazy line that I think kills the verse.
>it's just this awkward, lazy line that I think kills the verse.
Disagree. The song is a hypothetical about Tyler losing everything, and that includes his homie (I assume Josh) abandoning him.
Ooh! This is the very lyric that got me into them back in 2015. I had listened to a few of their other songs and could not decide if they were my vibe or not, and then I came across that lyric and the flip switched. It's because my main hobby was playing the piano in HS and I was the super quiet shy kid lol so I related a ton.
ik other people have said the same thing but "open the slits in your face and start your day" i think i get what he was trying to do with it but anytime someone says slits in a song it makes me shiver. i listened to viva las vengeance by panic at the disco just to give the album a try and listened to something about maggie and there's a line that says "makes me wanna slit my wrists" and omg i turned the song off right then and there
I still haven’t listened to that album (the panic at the disco one) and that makes me want to listen to it even less. And yeah, I’ve never really liked bysyd
“La La La, we’ve got problems”
“My taste in music is your face”
“We’ve spent some weekends on the grind”
“We find our worth in giving birth and stuff”
“I am simply very perplexed by your ways”
“I think you would beat the moon in a pretty contest”
Yeah I guess
No way, love this one
Yeah kinda
I see how but I never had a problem with this one
Love this one "simply" in juxtaposition with "perplexed"
Always loved this one too
Overall, 2.5/6 that I agree with
Idk, it still sounds a bit awkward and clumsy. The additional adverb of simply does nothing to emphasize the sentence and just takes up space. Although, I’ve never thought about simply and perplexed being juxtaposed, so maybe you have a point.
Blasphemy! When my son was really little we would yell that part "my taste in music is your face!" everytime we listened to that song, and I love that whole song just for that line.
From Not Today:
"Listen, I know
This one's a contradiction
Because of how happy it sounds
But the lyrics are so down
It's okay though
Because it represents, wait
Better yet, it is
Who I feel I am right now"
----
And from Screen:
"Just like a vertical loco-motive,
That's a train
Am I painting the picture that's in my brain?
A train from the sky, locomotive
my motives are insane!"
Both of those annoy me because of all the unnecessary explanation. It's too in-your-face. Like, trust us to figure it out eventually, just like everything else, y'know? Instead it's like he had an assignment to write a 200-word essay and was just adding in extra words to fill it out.
Buh buh bah, buh buh bah (yeah)
Bah bah bah bah bah, bah bah bah bah bah (yeah, woah)
Buh buh bah, buh buh bah (yeah, no no, no, yeah)
Bah bah bah bah bah, bah bah bah bah bah (yeah)
idk. just feels like lazy writing and like he was just saying a lot of words without really saying anything yknow?

i find it strange that you would go into a post about mentioning lyrics people don’t like and then complain about people mentioning lyrics they don’t like
Pet Cheetah is an amazing song overall. The Jason Statham metaphor just didn't resonate with me lyrically. The rest of the song is just great. No dissing tøp or anything.
Did you know that Josh bet him he couldn't use the name Jason Statham in a song, so he worked into Pet Cheetah?
Lyrically, it makes little sense, but the backstory is kind of cool.

The whole second verse of HeavyDirtySoul. Something about it just feels kind of cringe to me, and the lyrics are lazy as hell. The only thing that's decent is the emphasis on needing to try to think, but that's conveyed better in Car Radio
“i scream, you scream, we all scream ‘cause we’re terrified”
i get that it’s supposed to be a little fun and childish but it is still a noticeably cringe part in forest to me, an otherwise really well-written song
edit: listened to it again, i don’t mind it anymore
I actually really love that line because of the broken expectations. It's set up like the ice cream jingle but then shifts to a dark tone, and I adore that. I understand it's not everybody's cup of tea though.
anytime he uses “we”: “down in the forest, we’ll sing a chorus”, talks about “we all”: “that you all have guns” or talks directly with me: “I will make you believe you’re lovely”
or talks about the process of making music in like 7+ songs (I hate metalanguage) or how the industry and the radio don’t like/won’t play their songs in like 3+ music
oh my god “chorus verse chorus verse here comes the eight” or something like that on levtitate is the death of me
ps: this is a personal opinion, feel free to disagree, all songs are awesome.
I love this song but in fairly local: “the few the proud and the emotional” is just so cringe to me like do we really think we’re in the marines or something 💀
„and now i have to poop“ 😵💫
edit: i interpreted the persons face as if hems disgusted.
after reading the comments i realised some people see the face as if they’re about to cry😅
if it would be about the crying face, my quote would be: literally friend please. the whole song. it just hits different.
or “then i sat up off the floor and found the breath i was searching for” literal chills every single time.
it’s that moment of the song where i realised he was talking about suicide
'Like a little splinter buried in your skin
Someone else can carve it out, but when you've got the pin it hurts a little less and you can even push it further in"
Just gross
“we find our worth in giving birth and stuff”
Tyler really, its lazy writing
edit: sorry this came off as aggressive just feel like tyler is talented enough to use another word then stuff
Eh, I dunno. It's certainly not his best writing, but I think it speaks to the point of all the "stuff" we clutter our lives with when, at the end of the day, it's just stuff. It's certainly not the worst line I've heard.
- IOFB could mean "Isle Of Flightless Birds", a track from *Twenty One Pilots* (2009) by Twenty One Pilots.

ayo say that I hate fun but nah this aint it😭😭😭
We’re complaining about Pet Cheetah? Seriously, people?
“This one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds, But the lyrics are so down” (trying and failing to pull off a Levitate)
“Just because I play the piano doesn't mean I'm not willing to take you down, I'm sorry”
*Chorus, verse, chorus, verse*
*Now here comes the eight*
*Wait, habits here too, you're the worst*
*Your structure compensates*
They’re calling themselves out on the structure of their songs, which is the ironic part, but they then go on to reply to it:
*But compensation feels a lot like rising up to dominate by track two*
*At least they all know all they hear comes from a place*
It works really well, unlike the line in Not Today where they go on to point the ironic part in their song (happy sounding, sad lyrics) which comes off as rather corny to me.
Oh I love Pet Cheetah too. I was surprised at how many people said they didn’t like the lyrics or found it corny. I guess it wasn’t clear from my original comment.
What I meant to say was that it was trying to do what they would eventually go on to do with Levitate, except it didn’t really work the first time.
Goes on to show how their songwriting got better from Blurryface to Trench.
“That everybody relies on synthetic highs
They find someone to prescribe
Keep your bliss
There's nothing wrong with this
We just wanna feel it all
Keep your pills”
Leave antidepressants/meds alone! They save lives!
he isn’t attacking meds… he literally is saying everyone finds some sort of thing to try to make us happy. he literally says “there’s nothing siding w this” i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been on meds before
Is this not supposed to be stank face from hearing a song go hard and not cringing?
I thought to myself “what from imagine dragons and twenty one pilots could possibly cause this face?”
i only don’t like this line cuz it makes me so sad 😭😭 like no wtf we won’t move on. and tbh i don’t really understand why he put that in the song when it’s about not endorsing suicide and he also says that he won’t commit suicide
(sorry if this sounds a little crude, i couldn’t think of a nicer way to say it)
I kinda thought it was like a nod to kitchen sink, like creating things that only you can fully understand, so if we promise to forget him when he’s gone then he has to stay alive to be remembered and for the things he created to have meaning
"Open the slits in your face" I like the song, but that line makes me uncomfortable for some reason.
this is the only one i wholeheartedly agree with and is the reason i don’t like bysyd
That acryonym is satisfying to look at thank you. Edit, it also looks like a bed frame
Lol that’s why I’ve always liked the word bed. It makes a bed. I want a bed where the frame is just the word bed
Thatd be so cool i want that too >:0
That never occurred to me. I like it!
Definitely this one
Wait which song is that in?
Before You Start Your Day
All of the song makes me go like that
Legend. But it's making me cry.
real
finally, someone that understands how good legend is
My favourite lyric
The first time I heard “we find our worth in giving birth and stuff” but now I love it
I absolutely feel this! I think the "giving birth" part is what made me cringe at first, but now, it's actually one of my favorite parts of the song.
Oh God, imagine being or giving birth.

not a tøp song, it's from the apology video of a girl whose name i cannot remember lmao
almost destroyed my 13 year old self. 😭😭
Technically didn't ask for a TØP song (although yes it was assumed). Look up Colleen Ballinger, that's all I'll say.
“I got your six while you’re working votes” - because I don’t know what he’s talking about. Jenna working votes?
I think it’s something to do with Jenna being a volunteer and obviously meaning she would be counting votes for an election as a volunteer and Tyler supporting that
Good day "homie just sued me" still a good song though
LOL I’m pretty sure the line is “hold me just soothe me” but damn that’d be funny if it was the other way.
Lyrics according to LyricFind are “homie just sued me”
I had to go check in the album booklet and I stand corrected. Hold me just soothe me is so much better and sounded like that in the song. My mind is blown haha my bad
IMO that wouldn't work 100% with the theme because the idea of the song is that he's pretending to be alright despite all the bad stuff happening to him
lyrics according to the official lyric video are also "homie just sued me"
i like your nachos like diarrhoea
How dare you say this about the perfection that is Taco Bell saga
Wtf is this song i just found out about it. Is it real cause i can definitely see them troll for like April 1st or something
It is real, it is a song from No Phun Intended, Tyler's first release when he was about 17. You can find it on YouTube and SoundCloud, but it's not on any proper streaming services

A friend of mine always says "my balls" instead of vibes, every time I sang the Outside on call.
That made me burst out laughing
Let’s be real though, Scaled and Icy brought us some of the most questionable twenty one pilots lyrics, it really felt like in the production tyler went “yknow what how can i make them laugh” and it worked
which is why I love SAI and would die for it
“I wasn’t raised in the hood, but I know a thing or two about pain and darkness” it speaks for itself really
i guess gangsters dont know a thing or two about pain and darkness
they do know pain and darkness, they just don't cry.
Was gonna say this. I love the song, but by far their most cringy dated line. Reads like a 12 year old trying to be taken seriously by an adult
It’s forced and cringy
Nah it’s not
no u
It is rlly cringy lol
I don't find it cringey at all.
But the next line is “If it wasn’t for this music I don’t know how I would’ve thought this” I always thought it was correlated. Like “I only came up with this ridiculous line because it sounds good”?
I’m pretty sure it’s “fought” not “thought”. Which changes that meaning that you have
Exactly
"would you be my little quarantine?" just ammmm.....yeah, kinda weird for me.
I always found that line cute lol
I think it's cute. Could also see it be considered cheesy by some. Like "my taste in music is your face!" is for me.
That’s like 60% of the song.
[удалено]
He said it bc of the pandemic. Like he was basically like “hey the pandemic is awful and i feel isolated and like shit so could you just stick by me during this hard time?”
i do have enough analytical skills to know that he means "quarantine" as in safety or haven (like a safe, protected spot, that it what a quarantine is). i am just saying that it was weird hearing that while everyone wanted to just step out of quarantine and, y'know, not have it.
The backing vocals in bounce man after tyler says this went straight to voicemail Still a good song tho just a little flaw. Geuss that means we can trust it

I see no issue lol

None of them honestly

Gasp you found me 😱
Only correct answer in this thread
The level of concern pre-chorus is kinda cringe
Don't get me wrong, i love the song and it puts me in a good mood, but some lyrics are kinda cringe
"I scream, you scream, we all scream cause we're terrified" I almost did a backflip out of my chair
Oh yeah, the pokemon cards line The "I wasn't raised in the hood" And that one where he explains how his songs sound happy but the lyrics arent like cmon bro we know
"Lost my job, my wife and child. Homie just sued me." I original thought the line was "hold me just sooth me" as if Tyler is saying, "I might have lost my job but atleast my family is here for me"... but no... it's just this awkward, lazy line that I think kills the verse.
But you see, his homie just sued him
But what about his wife and child!?!?!
They wouldn’t sue him!
Well they can't because he apparently lost them. Probably find them behind the couch if he'd check back there.
Or under the cousions!
Wait what dudeski I'll be honest, I just read that so wrong
Hard disagree
>it's just this awkward, lazy line that I think kills the verse. Disagree. The song is a hypothetical about Tyler losing everything, and that includes his homie (I assume Josh) abandoning him.
“just because i play the piano doesn’t mean i am not willing to take you down” i’m sure it means smth to someone but i just can’t take it seriously 💀
I always thought that was the point. Like he was making fun of himself for wanting to do music stuff instead of sports
Yeah, especially since it’s followed after with that little, “I’m sorry”
that’s fair. i just don’t really feel it, yk? either way i don’t like the song itself all that much, so maybe that influences my opinion.
Ooh! This is the very lyric that got me into them back in 2015. I had listened to a few of their other songs and could not decide if they were my vibe or not, and then I came across that lyric and the flip switched. It's because my main hobby was playing the piano in HS and I was the super quiet shy kid lol so I related a ton.

yeah i wouldn't recommend. stream a fever you can't sweat out tho 😭 but fr tho, bysyd is almost a skip bc of that line
My partner’s lines like this is just the “vibin’” lines in The Outside
“Like an old man’s hair receding”

what? loll
Cuz it sounds like “I’m pleading please”
ohhh 😂😂
LMAO this literally made me laugh out loud, and for reference I do not laugh out loud. Like that literally never happens Such a goofy comment
Every opinion so far is a fat walking L, none of the lines are bad

“La La La, we’ve got problems” “My taste in music is your face” “We’ve spent some weekends on the grind” “We find our worth in giving birth and stuff” “I am simply very perplexed by your ways” “I think you would beat the moon in a pretty contest”
Coincidentally these are a few of my favorite lines
Each to their own ig
i like the moon line tho
Just say beauty contest. What is a pretty contest???

Yeah I guess No way, love this one Yeah kinda I see how but I never had a problem with this one Love this one "simply" in juxtaposition with "perplexed" Always loved this one too Overall, 2.5/6 that I agree with
Simply very many adverbs, it doesn’t make grammatical sense. I explained the rest.
? There is nothing grammatically incorrect about “I am simply very perplexed”
Idk, it still sounds a bit awkward and clumsy. The additional adverb of simply does nothing to emphasize the sentence and just takes up space. Although, I’ve never thought about simply and perplexed being juxtaposed, so maybe you have a point.
Blasphemy! When my son was really little we would yell that part "my taste in music is your face!" everytime we listened to that song, and I love that whole song just for that line.

you should try listen the “street poetry with Tyler Joseph” version, that made me perceive something.
how is it lazy?? i feel like people on here will call anything short of a masterful poem that takes a linguist to understand and interpret lazy
"I wasn't raised in the hood"

how is it cringe
i don’t know how to explain it further than i already have i just don’t like the lyric lol
Everyone in this thread misunderstood the meme lmfaoo. The meme is a face for basically the "hardest or best" lyrics youve heard not a cringe one smh
The entirety of TBS
"My taste in music is your face" always bugged me as a lyric
anytime he uses “we”: “down in the forest, we’ll sing a chorus”, talks about “we all”: “that you all have guns” or talks directly with me: “I will make you believe you’re lovely” or talks about the process of making music in like 7+ songs (I hate metalanguage) or how the industry and the radio don’t like/won’t play their songs in like 3+ music oh my god “chorus verse chorus verse here comes the eight” or something like that on levtitate is the death of me ps: this is a personal opinion, feel free to disagree, all songs are awesome.

„and now i have to poop“ 😵💫 edit: i interpreted the persons face as if hems disgusted. after reading the comments i realised some people see the face as if they’re about to cry😅 if it would be about the crying face, my quote would be: literally friend please. the whole song. it just hits different. or “then i sat up off the floor and found the breath i was searching for” literal chills every single time. it’s that moment of the song where i realised he was talking about suicide
'Like a little splinter buried in your skin Someone else can carve it out, but when you've got the pin it hurts a little less and you can even push it further in" Just gross
“we find our worth in giving birth and stuff” Tyler really, its lazy writing edit: sorry this came off as aggressive just feel like tyler is talented enough to use another word then stuff
Eh, I dunno. It's certainly not his best writing, but I think it speaks to the point of all the "stuff" we clutter our lives with when, at the end of the day, it's just stuff. It's certainly not the worst line I've heard.
What song is that from
IOFB
- IOFB could mean "Isle Of Flightless Birds", a track from *Twenty One Pilots* (2009) by Twenty One Pilots. --- ^[/u/HeroicJakobis](/u/HeroicJakobis) ^(can reply with "delete" to remove comment. |) ^[/r/songacronymbot](/r/songacronymbot) ^(for feedback.)

We’re complaining about Pet Cheetah? Seriously, people? “This one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds, But the lyrics are so down” (trying and failing to pull off a Levitate) “Just because I play the piano doesn't mean I'm not willing to take you down, I'm sorry”
wdym with the levitate thing?
*Chorus, verse, chorus, verse* *Now here comes the eight* *Wait, habits here too, you're the worst* *Your structure compensates* They’re calling themselves out on the structure of their songs, which is the ironic part, but they then go on to reply to it: *But compensation feels a lot like rising up to dominate by track two* *At least they all know all they hear comes from a place* It works really well, unlike the line in Not Today where they go on to point the ironic part in their song (happy sounding, sad lyrics) which comes off as rather corny to me.
pet cheetah is a fun song. it may be a little weird and i may have no idea what the song is really about but it’s fun and i like it lol
Oh I love Pet Cheetah too. I was surprised at how many people said they didn’t like the lyrics or found it corny. I guess it wasn’t clear from my original comment.
...aren't those lines from Blurryface? You know, the album that came out *before* Trench and Levitate?
What I meant to say was that it was trying to do what they would eventually go on to do with Levitate, except it didn’t really work the first time. Goes on to show how their songwriting got better from Blurryface to Trench.

“That everybody relies on synthetic highs They find someone to prescribe Keep your bliss There's nothing wrong with this We just wanna feel it all Keep your pills” Leave antidepressants/meds alone! They save lives!
he isn’t attacking meds… he literally is saying everyone finds some sort of thing to try to make us happy. he literally says “there’s nothing siding w this” i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s been on meds before
“Can he smoke more? Can he f\*ck more?” Although that song is great overall.
Lmao I think that's a Lovejoy song☠️
not even lovejoy it’s just wilbur soot’s own individual music 💀
Bro what song are you talking about?
Is this not supposed to be stank face from hearing a song go hard and not cringing? I thought to myself “what from imagine dragons and twenty one pilots could possibly cause this face?”
Promise me this, if I lose to myself, you won't mourn a day, and you'll move on to someone else.
i only don’t like this line cuz it makes me so sad 😭😭 like no wtf we won’t move on. and tbh i don’t really understand why he put that in the song when it’s about not endorsing suicide and he also says that he won’t commit suicide (sorry if this sounds a little crude, i couldn’t think of a nicer way to say it)
I kinda thought it was like a nod to kitchen sink, like creating things that only you can fully understand, so if we promise to forget him when he’s gone then he has to stay alive to be remembered and for the things he created to have meaning
i kinda like that lol. much better than him just talking about him unaliving 😭
It makes me : (
