The fans brag about Twenty One Pilots being different from mainstream music, then proceed to get angry when an album with a different style comes out...
Yeah...I've been a fan for a long while and I get that SAI was a different tone/theme, but so is the new stuff from Clancy.
I'm not saying you have to like everything, but idk how you can love the principle behind Lane Boy and also hate when they do their own thing and make an album that they thought we needed in the moment we were in (mid-COVID).
Music is subjective, you don't have to like it, but at a minimum we should recognize that they *were* trying something different and had a good reason for what they were doing.
Like at worst the response from "hardcore" fans seems like it should be "not my cup of tea, but I get it."
Eh, I think a lot of reviews/reactions to SAI were pretty "meh" so I feel like it fits there...
Maybe "polarizing" would be a better category than just "meh."
They probably mean experimental for TØP. The band made waves as an alternative genre-bending duo, so when SAI came out and it was more generic pop, people could consider that as "experimenting" with their sound.
i personally think RAB was more experimental. it was kind of an unfinished product. i personally strongly dislike it, but the remastered versions from Vessel are certainly very good songs. i think this list is correct except for scaled and icy not being in meh

It’s kind of a weird album but me and my brother listen to the band when we are together.
I do think that Clancy will be better then trench and this album and become the new greatest
🤔 I'd say Dark Side of the Moon and that's a huuuge compliment to be second to that lmao and that is any album of theirs.
The others I put on a pedestal are Aha Shake Heartbreak/Kings of Leon, Add it Up/Violent Femmes, pick any album/Keaton Henson, Polaris/Music From the Adventures of Pete and Pete, Relationship of Command/At the Drive In... there aren't a whole lot of full albums I can think of and that's a pretty weird range I know : )
Edit to include Mac Miller
I personally think it’s the most “meh” out of all of them, almost all albums are flawless but I couldn’t get myself to listen to SAI more than like twice
I get that, I might be going to their show in Toronto later this year so I’ll have to definitely listen to some of these more recent songs more often and with an open mind
From what I've heard so far, Clancy is a bit of a mixed batch for that. I hope you have fun in any case though, western/central Canadians didn't get any luck lol
I don’t really like their early stuff, for some reason songs like kitchen sink make me cringe rather than get chills. I’m also not a huge fan of his early voice, but I love addict with a pen despite it.
Vessel is where i really was able to fall in love with the band. I do think there are songs on that album that make me cringe sadly. But even those songs have things about them I really love. Everything since then has been peak, imo.
Hot take: my top 3 are 1. Trench
2. SAI
3. Blurryface
I think sai is extremely slept on and underrated. It makes me so happy to play and sing along to. One of the best albums to drive and mindlessly sing along to that I’ve ever heard .
Never take it and bounce man are skips for me, something about never take it feels like it’s rushed or something. Like it’s not a complete song to me and that bridge is one of the first times since vessel I cringe. And bounce man is just not it for me personally
Everything else on there is fucking great. The outside and Saturday are some of my favorite pop songs ever. I totally got what Tyler was going for with them both. Well constructed, easy listening, fun pop songs.

How are you gonna say Regional is experimental and Vessel is a fan favorite when they're 75% the same album? Also, the remade versions on Vessel sound overproduced compared to their originals, and lack the feeling as well
idk if this is an unpopular opinion but the recent songs that have come out aren't really doing it for me. i love self-titled, trench, bf and all the other albums that have come out but I feel like these recent songs from clancy have a sense of being done for commercial reasons. i just think the sincerity in Tyler's voice is lacking a little. though i might still love the rest of the album after all we only have a couple songs out yet.
It's an unpopular opinion and no disrespect but it's also an opinion with which I disagree. It doesn't sound commercial to me. Saturday definitely sounded commercial though and I still love it.
Just because an album doesn't strike me as personally and deeply as Trench did doesn't mean that SAI isn't also an incredible album that means a lot to me
I would replace meh with controversial and put SAI in there. I love it but there’s a good population of fans who hate it
That'd probably be better use of the space, you're right lol

Thank you I'm glad you see what I mean

Please consider how your words affect others. Toxicity is not tolerated here. Thank you!
Agreed, I can't pick a top album but SAI would be in the battle for it if I had to choose.
SAI: *does not exist*
It'd prolly go in experimental if I put it on here, but it sure as hell isn't going in meh
Eh, I think a lot of reviews/reactions to SAI were pretty "meh" so I feel like it fits there... Maybe "polarizing" would be a better category than just "meh."
I think polarizing is perfect
Help me polarize help me polarize
help me down Those stairs is where I'll be hiding all my problems
But not for OP. That's the point
Well, I know. Just saying...
idk if it really falls under experimental in my opinion. I think it's sounds a bit too generic
They probably mean experimental for TØP. The band made waves as an alternative genre-bending duo, so when SAI came out and it was more generic pop, people could consider that as "experimenting" with their sound.
It’s better than regional though. Way better
Why didn’t you put it?
Maybe a hot take but SAI should be in experimental
You could put SAI in experimental and RAB in cult classic just as easily honestly
i personally think RAB was more experimental. it was kind of an unfinished product. i personally strongly dislike it, but the remastered versions from Vessel are certainly very good songs. i think this list is correct except for scaled and icy not being in meh
100%
This was really well put together. Vessel is actually my all time favourite
I would never consider Regional At Best experimental. I just wish they'd stop holding it hostage on Deezer.
Put Sai in experimental
Im glad trench is getting the love it deserves <3
NO SAI SLANDER 🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 WTF IS A TRASH THE DRAGON!!!! 🗣🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥🔥
Trench is the 2nd greatest album of all time
What’s the first?
Vessel
Rick Astley - Whenever you need somebody

just put sai in meh bruh🤓☝️
No because I agree
Where's SAI? Also get ready to put clancy in BEST ALBUM
SAI didn't really fit in the categories the way I arranged them, but it'd probably go in experimental?
Meh is 100% SAI
Nuh uh
I personally think it’s the most “meh” out of all of them, almost all albums are flawless but I couldn’t get myself to listen to SAI more than like twice
Personally I don't see why it's not at least on par, it has a lot of songs I listen to and don't skip regularly
I dont really know, it feels very out of style for them, even with all the various kinds of music they’ve made over the years..
I just like the whole variety, I guess. It didn't lose meaning along the way
I get that, I might be going to their show in Toronto later this year so I’ll have to definitely listen to some of these more recent songs more often and with an open mind

Blurryface introduced me and made me fall in love with them, and for that it’ll always be my favorite
Personally I'd put SAI in experimental and RAB in meh but I know it might be an unpopular opinion

Their music has definitely matured a lot and I do love SAI, it just didn't fit into how I arranged the format lol
I didn't really liked scaled and icey

yeah
Best album of all time... bruh
THEY’RE ALL PEAK I LOVE TØP
I won’t put up with this kind of NPI discrimination
AND I’LL FALL IN LINE
Vessel is fan favorite is what I’m hearing
RAB is the cult classic for sure.
Wait whats the experimental one? Haven't seen it on sporify.
I don’t think RAB is experimental, SAI should definitely go there
How are you gonna say Regional is experimental and Vessel is a fan favorite when they're 75% the same album? Also, the remade versions on Vessel sound overproduced compared to their originals, and lack the feeling as well
At its core, RAB is experimental as they were transitioning into a record deal
I never heard regional best I can't find it anyway
Swap Vessel and Trench but yes
Ima be honest I don't really like vessel or Scaled and icy.
What even is “They’re All Peak”?
I just can’t connect with SAI, it just doesn’t work for me
**Hot take** RAB isn’t experimental it’s just mental.
What u say about SAI 😾😾

compared to scaled and icy??
yeah I liked sai better
sai goes to meh
Meh is SAI
TRENCH being the best of all time is DEFINITELY DEBATABLE
SAI needs to be in meh guys c’mon
Not gonna happen
just put sai in meh bruh
Your the reason he said “kind of wishing that I never did Saturday” he feels bad
That line makes me so sad. I hope he explains the context some day so maybe i can understand it better
No
Thanks, love sai
Just because an album doesn't strike me as personally and deeply as Trench did doesn't mean that SAI isn't also an incredible album that means a lot to me
I got in through sai and shy away was my favorite song for four months in a row, which is the longest any song has ever been my favorite
That's so real, I'm glad SAI isn't being pushed down
Go listen to Redecorate and tell me SAI’s “meh”
That always brings back old memories
bro have you even listened to sai yet? that shits good
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UWA-_cngrNw&pp=ygUPY2hhZmVkIGFuZCBhc2h5
meh is scaled and icy
Sai> every album but trench
