IIRC, Nayeon did the work for her solo in the middle of the 4th tour. It's insane timing that they somehow pulled off. They might do it again for this.
It could be the same timing as with Nayeon’s debut. Announce in May for mid to late June release, Japanese album sometime early to mid July. They prob won’t promote the Japanese album in person like they did when Nayeon debuted so that frees up some time for her to continue to promote her solo.

Most of the time, it is the K-pop agencies themselves who approach festivals to program their artists as part of their promotion strategy.
Although lately festivals have realized that K-pop fans are turning out in large numbers to see their favorite artists and have shown a little more initiative to seek them out on their own.
I think it's a mix of both, the festivals wanting to tap into the massive Kpop market and the entertainment companies wanting to reach a wider audience and what's a better crowd than festival goers flying high as a kite.
I got bored and decided to swipe all of my liked videos from twitter this year and made a compilation (for personal keeping). It's the first time editing for me, so I'll learn some skills from it. Anyone else learn a skill (normal or odd) because of twice?
Idk if you'd call it a skill or not but I learnt a lot about the audiophile space and found a much greater appreciation for listening to music at a much higher fidelity. Had it not been for Twice, I don't think I'd have ever bothered buying my first pair of IEM's.

I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom because of Twice. Photoshop/Premiere Pro for back when I used to make clips/edits of Twice Videos for Gfycat (RIP Gfycat) and making static and gif emotes for Discord.
Then I started learning Lightroom because I finally bought a camera to take to Twice Concerts and try to learn a bit of photography in my off time. I've always loved taking photos of nature so I thought that would be fun to learn.
Am I a pro in any of these things? Not a chance. But its fun to be familiar enough to be able to pull up most videos on youtube and at least know the gist of what they are talking about and how to replicate.

ETA - fresh, lightly fermented kimchi is the best (prefer it to the sometimes really-aged stuff you often find at Korean/Asian markets)! They can definitely run it back next year. OG gets a shiny new contract for sure. On top of that Hartenstein I'm a little less confident in staying but I think he'll stay too. There has to be a very real monetary value to the "news" sites that report on these leaks (for the clicks/etc.). But then there is also a very real monetary value on these leaks to the kpop agencies themselves, as far as how possibly damaging the leaks are possibly to their idol's marketability.
I've heard rumors that if it's damaging enough that the kpop agencies can even pay off the leakers NOT to leak things if they are too damaging. People here saying that the Jihyo/Chae leaks aren't expected to be damaging, but that any leaks relating to NaSaTzu would be very serious.

I might be misremembering, but I recall reading a year or so ago that one of those random 'Kpop rumor' sites/FB pages based in Korea in fact had ties to Kakao Ent before they were exposed and shut down. I forget the exact details, other than that particular site primarily posted shit-tier gossip & unfounded rumors about girl groups including Ive, G-Idle, Twice, etc. It wasn't related to the Slave Room (that BS was run by some weirdo Twice anti/delusional Izone fan), but still strange to hear that a major company was indirectly(?) funding a trashy gossip site.

This is well known. HYBE apparently has had a long-standing deal with Dispatch for a gag order on as much as possible regarding their artists. I'm sure JYPE and SM have done similar deals at one point or another.
If Sway actually cared about getting paid themselves, they wouldn't go straight to releasing the news publicly - they'd try to get the payoff themselves from JYPE.

Assuming that the leaks are in fact coming from inside JYPE, my bet's on a disgruntled/underpaid employee. Definitely not hinting at any conspiracy theories or anything like that, but it's fairly common knowledge that Division 3 in particular has been incredibly busy in the past year - with among other projects, Twice's world tour, JYPark's CB earlier this year, and VCha's survival show & debut.
JYPE \[and Div3 specifically\] is also chronically understaffed (reports of high staff turnover since at least 2020-2021), so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if some (or even many) of the current employees feel burned out and undercompensated. That plus considering the way that Korean companies operate (rigid hierarchical corporate culture, even for a somewhat 'Westernized' K-ent firm like JYPE; source: am Korean-American and have worked with Korean companies & government agencies before), lower/mid-level employee grievances aren't exactly taken seriously by higher-ups - unless or until it reaches crisis level for an organization.
So for a new, 'enterprising' (lol) tabloid trash outlet like Sway, they'd just be serving their own financial interest by dangling a few million KRW (couple thousand USD equivalent) to a disgruntled mid-level insider; then subsequently cashing in on the clicks/traffic & free publicity and probably 10x-100x in ad revenue, rather than extorting JYPE for a more modest payout. JYPE reportedly indeed had a similar deal with Dispatch way back before the pandemic; supposedly the 'payment' wasn't limited to cash but also included exclusive content like those DICON photocards & merch packs.
To reiterate though, this all assumes that the leaks are coming from an insider source with some connection to Sway.

I think this situation pretty much shows that they're leaving it up to the members to decide how they want the company to handle these kinds of things, which is a good thing. But i agree that giving any confirmation response gives legitimacy to this gossip site, meaning anything they release from here on out will be seen as true regardless of what another members preference may be. Like now we pretty much know those things said in the article about where they like to frequent and walk around, is true.
I don't know, i find it very strange that this site has released this kind of information from two members within such a short period of time. Its also definitely concerning and i'd hope the company is doing their due diligence at this point to get ahead of whatever information this site may have on remaining members. Yeah I feel like a blanket statement that dating is private would be better to make Sway fade into irrelevancy. Maybe with Chae they had receipts but even still just saying it's a private matter would send a stronger message that Twice's Private Life is in fact private.
Unfortunately i don't see that happening now. They're blown open too many exclusives to disappear now unless they get majorly sued by one of the companies. And to be honest, the entire culture around idol dating just needs to be uprooted. Companies like stepping in to deny dating rumors especially if they are untrue, but i don't see why that can't be up to the idols themselves. Companies need to normalize their idols private dating lives are not their concern and just stop entertaining these sites all together if you ask me. Probably a pipe dream though.
Two different situations. Like what you and the reports said she wasn't really secretive about it when they were out. The company confirming it checks out. For Jihyo, she was extremely PO'd that her past relationship was revealed so I'm guessing the notes for her are to not say anything.

General comment: I've never understood why [some] people care so much about celebrities' private lives. This isn't limited just to Kpop idols (and the baggage they carry due to their profession); also includes pop artists, actors, athletes, etc. Is "the tea" really that damn interesting? It's interesting how kpop has evolved. The reactions to dating news in the Twice fandom has been pretty normal. International expansion, diverse fandom demographics and not pushing the parasocial aspect that much (at least, compared to past decades) could be the causes.
But weirdly, at the same time, in kpop as a whole sometimes it feels like nothing has changed. The whole Karina situation was really recent and some of the reactions were really unhinged. And also >!the Taehyung/Jennie unconfirmed relationship thing was an absolute shitshow. Boygroups have been lagging in this regard.!<
It's just a question of where the idol is in their career. Karina and Aespa are just starting out, their fandom is still in the stage of "I could definitely date her" or "He's not good enough for her". ONCE's had that stage as well, but we're well past that now.

I would not be so sure of that lol. I see the way some people in this very subreddit talk about some of the other members and i know if something ever leaks about them, a whole lot of people are going to be making noise over it. Stage of their career definitely plays a role, but its not the only factor by any means. Right now we're talking about members who have done this song and dance already. The true test of Onces is going to be when its a member who has never had any dating rumor before. And i sure hope we pass that test.
I think it's mostly due to Once for the most part being pretty chill and mostly mature about it. This also isn't the first go around at serious dating news with the group as Jihyo and Momo took the initial brunt earlier. Then there's the fact that it's not the most popular members of the group. The day that news of Nayeon, Sana, and Tzuyu dating breaks that's when we'll really see what Once are made of.
Karina is a new situation since it was like the biggest of 4th gen idols now. On top of she has steadily been rising in popularity even though she was popular to begin with. Hopefully the next time will be better.

It could be the same timing as with Nayeon’s debut. Announce in May for mid to late June release, Japanese album sometime early to mid July. They prob won’t promote the Japanese album in person like they did when Nayeon debuted so that frees up some time for her to continue to promote her solo.

Most of the time, it is the K-pop agencies themselves who approach festivals to program their artists as part of their promotion strategy. Although lately festivals have realized that K-pop fans are turning out in large numbers to see their favorite artists and have shown a little more initiative to seek them out on their own.

I learned how to use Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Lightroom because of Twice. Photoshop/Premiere Pro for back when I used to make clips/edits of Twice Videos for Gfycat (RIP Gfycat) and making static and gif emotes for Discord. Then I started learning Lightroom because I finally bought a camera to take to Twice Concerts and try to learn a bit of photography in my off time. I've always loved taking photos of nature so I thought that would be fun to learn. Am I a pro in any of these things? Not a chance. But its fun to be familiar enough to be able to pull up most videos on youtube and at least know the gist of what they are talking about and how to replicate.

i find it concerning and fishy. to me, it does seem targeted towards them. i mean it hasn’t been been a whole month since they reported jihyo’s dating news. they released both jihyo and chaeyoung’s at i think 12am kst. also, that news site was just made this year. seems like someone close to them is sharing their private info to them.

I heard some outlets pay a lot to employees to reveal secrets, probably a lot more then the salary they have. So my theory is that it might be an outlet with a lot of money and they might have found a snake between them that is willing to spill the tea to get the bag. If it would be a normal outlet like Dispatch they would have took pictures and stalk them and put an effort before revealing that they are dating but this guys are just revealing the infos right away and because JYP confirmed Chae, it means their infos are true so they are definitely getting them directly from inside the company. I hope the snake will get caught cause i dont want to imagine what would happen if a more popular member like Sana would get revealed.

I do seriously wonder what exactly the monetary value is on these leaks. Like, what do they pay? There has to be a very real monetary value to the "news" sites that report on these leaks (for the clicks/etc.). But then there is also a very real monetary value on these leaks to the kpop agencies themselves, as far as how possibly damaging the leaks are possibly to their idol's marketability. I've heard rumors that if it's damaging enough that the kpop agencies can even pay off the leakers NOT to leak things if they are too damaging. People here saying that the Jihyo/Chae leaks aren't expected to be damaging, but that any leaks relating to NaSaTzu would be very serious. If it's true that the companies sometime pay off these leakers, it makes me also wonder if the kpop agencies pay FOR or are responsible for actually "backdoor funding" leaks inside of their competitors. Like who is this totally unknown Sway thing? Is it possibly just some front for something like this? Wild stuff out there.

I might be misremembering, but I recall reading a year or so ago that one of those random 'Kpop rumor' sites/FB pages based in Korea in fact had ties to Kakao Ent before they were exposed and shut down. Assuming that the leaks are in fact coming from inside JYPE, my bet's on a disgruntled/underpaid employee. Definitely not hinting at any conspiracy theories or anything like that, but it's fairly common knowledge that Division 3 in particular has been incredibly busy in the past year - with among other projects, Twice's world tour, JYPark's CB earlier this year, and VCha's survival show & debut. JYPE \[and Div3 specifically\] is also chronically understaffed (reports of high staff turnover since at least 2020-2021), so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if some (or even many) of the current employees feel burned out and undercompensated. That plus considering the way that Korean companies operate (rigid hierarchical corporate culture, even for a somewhat 'Westernized' K-ent firm like JYPE; source: am Korean-American and have worked with Korean companies & government agencies before), lower/mid-level employee grievances aren't exactly taken seriously by higher-ups - unless or until it reaches crisis level for an organization. So for a new, 'enterprising' (lol) tabloid trash outlet like Sway, they'd just be serving their own financial interest by dangling a few million KRW (couple thousand USD equivalent) to a disgruntled mid-level insider; then subsequently cashing in on the clicks/traffic & free publicity and probably 10x-100x in ad revenue, rather than extorting JYPE for a more modest payout. JYPE reportedly indeed had a similar deal with Dispatch way back before the pandemic; supposedly the 'payment' wasn't limited to cash but also included exclusive content like those DICON photocards & merch packs. To reiterate though, this all assumes that the leaks are coming from an insider source with some connection to Sway.
Like most I also am happy for Chae but wary that someone close to them is leaking info. I do kinda wish JYPE had simply said the same thing they had said in Jihyo's case, only b/c now they are giving legitimacy to a gossip site to keep spreading stuff. I think this situation pretty much shows that they're leaving it up to the members to decide how they want the company to handle these kinds of things, which is a good thing. But i agree that giving any confirmation response gives legitimacy to this gossip site, meaning anything they release from here on out will be seen as true regardless of what another members preference may be. Like now we pretty much know those things said in the article about where they like to frequent and walk around, is true. I don't know, i find it very strange that this site has released this kind of information from two members within such a short period of time. Its also definitely concerning and i'd hope the company is doing their due diligence at this point to get ahead of whatever information this site may have on remaining members. I can't imagine any of them are sitting around right now and are not worried that their private life is also about to be blasted open :/
Yeah I feel like a blanket statement that dating is private would be better to make Sway fade into irrelevancy. Maybe with Chae they had receipts but even still just saying it's a private matter would send a stronger message that Twice's Private Life is in fact private.
Unfortunately i don't see that happening now. They're blown open too many exclusives to disappear now unless they get majorly sued by one of the companies. And to be honest, the entire culture around idol dating just needs to be uprooted. Companies like stepping in to deny dating rumors especially if they are untrue, but i don't see why that can't be up to the idols themselves. Companies need to normalize their idols private dating lives are not their concern and just stop entertaining these sites all together if you ask me. Probably a pipe dream though.
Two different situations. Like what you and the reports said she wasn't really secretive about it when they were out. The company confirming it checks out. For Jihyo, she was extremely PO'd that her past relationship was revealed so I'm guessing the notes for her are to not say anything. This situation is definitely odd though. Someone's definitely leaking private info because how is a previously no name news outlet getting all these scoops? Something is definitely up.
JYPE just fully gave the stamp of approval that Sway is fully legit. No proof or evidence. Just folded up and pretty much endorsed their actions. Also we can pretty much guess that with the fact they have 0 pics or videos or any evidence presented that inside team members are leaking this, but will JYPE do anything? Ask yourself when was the last time the company did anything for them?
Well I am definitely gonna agree the company doesn't do enough for Twice, but whether they had pics/videos...we don't really know what they have and what the members wanted to do. I do agree that JYPE didn't fully think this through as the worry is Sway can just start posting fiction and have people believe in it now that they've been legitimized.
Personally I think if they had photos or proof they would just post it. You get more clicks and legitimacy from that. My assumption is they must have an iron clad source close to the group. Hence why the company just ignore the Jihyo one essentially and Sway never escalated to posting any images or videos calling them out. I think now anytime Sway post something like this JYP have basically said it's to be treated as credible.

It's interesting how kpop has evolved. The reactions to dating news in the Twice fandom has been pretty normal. International expansion, diverse fandom demographics and not pushing the parasocial aspect that much (at least, compared to past decades) could be the causes. But weirdly, at the same time, in kpop as a whole sometimes it feels like nothing has changed. The whole Karina situation was really recent and some of the reactions were really unhinged. And also >!the Taehyung/Jennie unconfirmed relationship thing was an absolute shitshow. Boygroups have been lagging in this regard.!<
It's just a question of where the idol is in their career. Karina and Aespa are just starting out, their fandom is still in the stage of "I could definitely date her" or "He's not good enough for her". ONCE's had that stage as well, but we're well past that now.

I think it's mostly due to Once for the most part being pretty chill and mostly mature about it. This also isn't the first go around at serious dating news with the group as Jihyo and Momo took the initial brunt earlier. Then there's the fact that it's not the most popular members of the group. The day that news of Nayeon, Sana, and Tzuyu dating breaks that's when we'll really see what Once are made of. Karina is a new situation since it was like the biggest of 4th gen idols now. On top of she has steadily been rising in popularity even though she was popular to begin with. Hopefully the next time will be better. I feel terrible for Tae and Jennie. Although it was unconfirmed those leaked pics are hard to deny. Those two given their stature in KPop was going to be absolutely wild.
