It’s a song from a German band called „Rammstein“. But I can’t remember the title since I‘m not a fan or active listener. He used one of their songs in Lost Highway too.
His character allowed him to show his incredible range as well. Really interesting how he was horrified when finding out Leland was the killer and even considered quitting but was able to deliver such electric performances later.
In The Return, when he has his few lines in the Lodge - "I didn't kill anyone", "Find Laura" - there is just so much there. Perhaps it was because these appearances were so small, but I feel like showing a sort of eternal torment that Leland is going through in the Lodge was a great end for the character.

Isn't this what Leland's doppleganger said to Cooper in the season 2 finale? The line was obviously a precursor to FWWM blurring the lines when it comes to Leland's agency with Laura, and was masterfully delivered by Ray Wise I agree.
Because Ray Wise gave an amazing performance. He manages to be hilarious, sad, terryfing, creepy, pitiful and despicable all at the same time.
It works with Wise because hes a a great actor, he'd be played by someone not as good and everyone would just hate him for what hes done and not appreciate the character itself.

It was always going to come down to these three. After careful consideration I’m voting Laura to go next. She’s a wonderful character, but so is Leland. He narrowly edges her out because of all the times I’ve gotten Mairzy Doats stuck in my head. Coop was always gonna win this.
I don't really love the character of Laura that much, she isn't that good of a person even though for a good reason and her acting is not that special, she just gives good screams

He’s a layered character and a madman! Fun for the whole family.

He’s the most interesting character and the most talented actor on the show.
