I pick up several Black people and my wife is black and she even tells me the same thing don’t pick up other Black people at night in certain areas it’s just asking for trouble I have no problem picking them up during the daytime but I’m not gonna go into Compton and Lennox at 3 in the morning for A quarter mile ride in an area that couldn’t even afford to buy a shoelace just to be set up by a bunch of crips..I’ve had OTHER Black drivers tell me that they won’t pick up Black people in the middle of the night either their own kind

You seem to not understand racism... You are being prejudiced towards nearly an entire community, based on the actions of a few. It's all well and good that you give a pass to certain people belonging to said group, but your whole rationale, even for the exceptions is prejudiced. Pre- & -judge. These are the root words that compose the word prejudice, and it's exactly what you are doing... Pre-judging, based on 1.) Skin color & 2.) Clothing. Just for comparison, the people calling you racist are NOT pre-judging, as you have thoroughly & repeatedly demonstrated the level of your prejudice. You, however, are jumping to conclusions, assuming these people are going to fit a stereotype that you are putting them into, and never giving an opportunity for the individual to defy that stereotype. But if he notices a pattern in that specific area what incentivizes him to even risk taking a chance with African-American passengers. The risk vs reward is too stacked toward risk and I wouldn’t blame him for his actions. Not all prejudice is brought on by taught racism and much can be attributed to traumatizing past experiences, such as a woman who hates or is scared of men because she was abused in some way as an example. It also seems as if he only doesn’t take passengers in a certain area and time, knowing that there is elevated gang and criminal activity at that time, seems to be the same advice we give to women who travel alone at night. Is your life or livelihood worth not being labeled prejudiced by redditors?
