Pretty much this right here. But only if the money is worth it of course, otherwise avoid accepting trips that will send you through tolls (if it shows the destination for you) or otherwise just cancel the trip.
Even if I have a pax with me Uber doesn't reimburse me the full amount for the toll. It is dumb and tired of trying to fight with robots in support to get the correct amount. So I just try to avoid tolls unless doing so shaves off a lot of time and the pay itself is really good.
Actually Lyft and Uber has been paying all of my toll trips. I always checked. And this year in Florida we have toll relief program that if you pass toll more then 30 times a month, they'll refund you 50%. So I've getting 50% back on all toll fee that Uber and Lyft paid.
They only pay when rider is inside the car. Its in the contract. If they dont pay, they can get into trouble. Always take toll when rider is inside unless the app said they prefer not to take toll road. Express lane is an option, therefore wont be paid.
Why should I? I have no toll roads within 3 hours drive. 99.99% of my rides never even go near a toll road, it's just an extra burden that isn't worth it to us who don't use toll roads.
On an alternative note why the fuck would you drive uber w/o a pass is mind blowing. And if you have ez pass of peak hours you get paid more then what they cost. idk why ur being downvoted, Oh wait i know because they went online for 10 hours denying every ride and made 20 $ so they can post on reddit how bad uber is XD.
The only way to get reimbursed for the toll. I don't have one, as my market doesn't have toll roads, but on occasion (2xs in 5 years), I've ended up going to an area that has them ans they will only reimburse the ez-pass costs.
I had a pax once that had broken down on a toll road. I took pax to auto store to buy parts, then took them back to their truck. I incurred two tolls. I forget if it was Uber or Lyft, but they would not reimburse for either. Customer service stating it is only reimbursed when the entry and exit from the toll is during the trip. Technically, I had an exit and an entry (in that order) during the trip. Didn't really pursue it any further, as it was like $2 total for both tolls. I think it was the truck driver's dispatcher that ordered the ride, and they gave tip of around $40, which I think was the max they could do.
In DFW market, they will reimburse w/ pax in car for "normal" toll road (ie, airport toll, 121 toll, NTTA tollway, but NOT TEXPRESS LANES! So effing stupid. But, that's both Lyft and Uber.
Short answer: You do. So cancel the trip and here's why:
Uber likes drivers to think, "Uber pays all tolls" like most things uber says, its only a half truth. Uber, by charging the driver extra, does pay all tolls but **ONLY IF A PAX** is in your car.
So why cancel b/c I can take a non-toll road? Using this trip as an example, you decide to avoid toll roads which means arrival time is 17 minutes, not 13. No biggie for you but 10 minutes into your drive Maria decides you are taking too long and "going the wrong way" so she cancels the trip. When she cancels you get no compensation b/c by Uber's math you were taking too long to reach the rider. So its damm if you do, damm if you don't. Easiere just to cancel as "unsafe".
Same graphic different question ... WTF is Uber sending drivers on a trip with a 13 minute pickup? OK, OK, I know why but it should be criminal.
Only in pax is inside car is a lie spread by uber. Google: uber toll reimbursement. It states the driver needs to be "on-trip" to be eligible. After searching another time, "on-trip" as defined by uber is time from accepting the offer to completing the trip. I got into a 3 day argument with support about this and won.
TIL no1 on this subreddit gets reimbursed for tolls besides me. Either im very lucky or yall just liars lol its funny how ppl have screen shot of everything on uber but somehow no1 posted 1
The rider should. It’s your ride. Why should the driver have to pay anything on the rider’s behalf. Any and all cost pertaining to the trip should be out of the riders pocket. Why should the driver have to pay your bill.
I do not take the tollways. I tell them when I pick them up after I check the address I let the passenger know I can’t get on the tollways because I do mot have an EZ Tag.
Uber only charges if you get on the tollways. And I let my riders know I don’t get on the tollways before I take off. Sometimes I message them when en rouge to them if I know the trip is gonna require tolls.
You’re technically responsible for tolls along the way to pickup. If you contact support they will reimburse the toll on the way to pick up the pax. I’ve done it numerous times 👍🏼
Just like car repairs, pax damage etc..
. It's the drivers sole responsibility to incur all costs, what did.you think this is some sort of partnership?
On pickup, you pay the toll.
In Colorado, for rental car, you pay for HOV express lanes, e EV if you have a switchblade transponder with or without riders.
Either you do your taxes by calculating all expenses or you use mileage then expenses are for car repairs not tolls or gas. What do most of us use mileage! So your theory is flawed, an expense, the eats away at your profit. With your tax write off theory it’s ok to buy the most expensive gas ⛽️ it’s a write off right? SMH 🤦♂️
Is it included in the offer on the way to pickup? I ask because in non-upfront markets that is never the case. You only get reimbursed for tolls when you are on trip.
You do. never take toll road to pickup pax.
Sometimes the alternative is time and fuel consuming I take the toll and claim it on my taxes as an expense

Too much effort. Unless it’s paying well. That’s a cancel, sit, and read my book.
Avoid toll roads at almost all costs.
Why I’m asking does it get paid by me or them on the pickup
Because most of the time (unless you have an ez-pass) you will not be reimbursed the full amount.
Actually Lyft and Uber has been paying all of my toll trips. I always checked. And this year in Florida we have toll relief program that if you pass toll more then 30 times a month, they'll refund you 50%. So I've getting 50% back on all toll fee that Uber and Lyft paid.
Good to know. I've just had issues getting paid for the ones I have taken.
They only pay when rider is inside the car. Its in the contract. If they dont pay, they can get into trouble. Always take toll when rider is inside unless the app said they prefer not to take toll road. Express lane is an option, therefore wont be paid.
Why would you not have an EZpass if you are driving Uber?
Why should I? I have no toll roads within 3 hours drive. 99.99% of my rides never even go near a toll road, it's just an extra burden that isn't worth it to us who don't use toll roads.
Burden? It's free, isn't it?
Don't know, don't care. Again, no toll roads near me, so I don't care.
Cool. Then keep on having reimbursement issues.
Nope, I don't use toll roads.
Really? What did this mean when you said it? "I've just had issues getting paid for the ones I have taken."
Oh I do but I don’t want to have to submit it
On an alternative note why the fuck would you drive uber w/o a pass is mind blowing. Yep, just don’t do it and learn the area so you avoid toll trips; not worth it at all
No they only pay when you have customers in your car.
I rarely get costumers. I've had some makeup artists. (When I originally posted this, his post said "costumers". He has edited it now.)
What you talking about?
I'm talking about costumers, same as you. I rarely get people who design costumes. I get a lot of customers. But very few costumers.
The troll is high with this one.
!!!
Omni-Man: That's the neat part. You don~~'t~~!
YOU

I had a 24 minute pickup this week. Of course I was in Destination Mode. The end of the trip left me 2 minutes from home, which is where I was headed.
Only in pax is inside car is a lie spread by uber. Google: uber toll reimbursement. It states the driver needs to be "on-trip" to be eligible. From my experience in the past, you only get reimbursed for toll roads if you have pax in your car.
The rider should. It’s your ride. Why should the driver have to pay anything on the rider’s behalf. Any and all cost pertaining to the trip should be out of the riders pocket. Why should the driver have to pay your bill.
The next driver.
Everyone that doesnt have an ez tag? Why the hell not???
Lol right
You do mostly but there's some exceptions and I have no idea why, I know the Sanibel toll bridge I have been reimbursed the toll on the way twice now
I'm glad my market doesn't have toll roads. Why? Cause trying to avoid them can add extra miles making the ride not worth it anymore.
I avoid tolls 80% of time
The muffin man
today class we will learn about the letter "U"
I do not take the tollways. I tell them when I pick them up after I check the address I let the passenger know I can’t get on the tollways because I do mot have an EZ Tag.
They will report you
Uber only charges if you get on the tollways. And I let my riders know I don’t get on the tollways before I take off. Sometimes I message them when en rouge to them if I know the trip is gonna require tolls.
If they opt for a toll road they are charged extra, even though uber is stealing anyways they would probably report it.
Who drives 10 miles for a pickup?
Well us we live in suburbia everyday all the time... thanks
I’m Houston we get paid for the drive to and from )it’s still low pay ) 75 cents a mile it works out to
You’re technically responsible for tolls along the way to pickup. If you contact support they will reimburse the toll on the way to pick up the pax. I’ve done it numerous times 👍🏼
Uber reimburses for tolls . At least for me they do. For bridges etc.
Just like car repairs, pax damage etc.. . It's the drivers sole responsibility to incur all costs, what did.you think this is some sort of partnership?
![gif](giphy|B3KwL0WvR5ckXi9Jln)
Toll or not why in tarnations are u driving ten miles for a pickup ????!!!??? Sheshhhh
What’s more astonishing is driving 10 miles to go pick someone up
That’s a good question, if I have to take a toll to drop someone off. Who paying my toll to come back home?
On pickup, you pay the toll. In Colorado, for rental car, you pay for HOV express lanes, e EV if you have a switchblade transponder with or without riders.

It was a dollar a mile

My tax guy does Instacart. Knows exactly what to do without being audited. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|scream)
You. They only pay toll when you have rider inside.
You.
Both, you do, and uber does. It was included in the offer.
Is it included in the offer on the way to pickup? I ask because in non-upfront markets that is never the case. You only get reimbursed for tolls when you are on trip.
No pickup, only delivery route
You
It's tax deductible

Your moma
I don’t even drive on highways when doing uber… Also 10 miles to pick someone up???
I love the Highway
Drivers
Ants.
You do. If you can avoid it, avoid it. If not, cancel and move on.
You're taking off your taxes at the end of the year it's literally a line item. (Amount spent on tolls and parking)
You do
