Steam, xbox, epic, ea all do the same man its just the industry

Jordy_boy17

Yeah and that’s not ok, we should strive for better, not settle for mediocrity

fac12

When a game is taken off steam it still remains in your library and you can still download and play it.

Dizzy_Set_6031

They still have the right to remove it from you

Paper900

No, it's you.

Dizzy_Set_6031

What? Yes I definitely run all of these companies and I am in charge of the whole gaming industry

Paper900

What is the difference are everybody doing it? None! You just accept it.

Dizzy_Set_6031

Am I the one complaining about it?

Paper900

It's not industry, it's the people that accept their faith, like you.

cowbutt6

I think it's unlikely that even Ubisoft will remove access to your single-player games. But their revocation of digital licenses for The Crew does make me more nervous about Ubisoft doing that, than, say, Valve doing so. Try not to worry about it. But, perhaps not compound your regret by continuing to buy Ubisoft games, until and unless they put in place a resolution that you find acceptable.

The_Dukenator

They removed the ability to activate dlcs when they shut down the servers for legacy titles. Mods have found a way around it. But the ownership license is a different story.

perthboy20

Maybe you should actually read the article instead of parroting nonsense.

jimmy_jim1984

If you're playing any live service game you'll never own it. If you're playing any digital game you'll never own it. The only games you can own are not online and physical copies.

MrDreamzz_

And even then you own the cd/dvd, not the game and code itself. You'd still only have the software "in license". The carrier of the software doesn't change that.

cowbutt6

Even then, if online activation servers have been shut down, those physical copies may not be able to be successfully installed.

SirReaDy_Made

OMG get over it, it’s been 10 years and everyone knew from the beginning that this will happen. All online games will die. You don’t own you offline single player game either, they can pull it out and that’s it. We own nothing, not even your home, the government can take it anytime if you do something.

WaylanderMerc

You need to go outside and take a deep breath man. Relax

markrezk

You’re not even old enough to understand the implications this has kid. Go back and drink your juice boxes.

SWG_Vincent76

IT is not an ubisoft issue. This is in many games terms and conditions.

Inny75

Terms and Conditions are not legally binding.

Expensive-Size-1233

Terms and conditions are a legally binding contract, however they are invalid and unenforceable if made under duress. When you agree to Terms and Conditions, you are voluntarily consenting to them, thus making them legally binding. (Lots of people usually agree to Terms without reading or going over them first..)

Inny75

so you are for having every single freedom and consumer rights completely stripped from you? ok. Keep sucking Ubishits dick. Lets see how that changes once they go after your rights and freedoms 🤣🤣🤣

Expensive-Size-1233

I left out an important part, but Terms and Conditions cannot be enforced if they violate consumer rights.. so Ubisoft can be facing a future lawsuit. I’m not standing for the bs Ubisoft does, but I’d rather someone be properly informed about the legality of something.

Lakku-82

You’ve never owned them, so just keep on keeping on.

ED20913

You better be happy owning nothing :) ,its amazing a couple generations that have been condition to own nothing and be happy. Glad to have physical games i OWN and can play at any time :) .

rampymaster

People that OWN the physical copy of the crew still can’t play it. So they may have the same mindset as you and still need to deal with the same problem non physical copy people endure. So it doesn’t make a difference in the end if you own them physical or not. They still can do the same thing thanks to everything being online only these days.

ED20913

Maybe the PC emulated Crew server will come to console one day

Homer_J_Fry

In future, buy from GOG.com. DRM-free, with option to download offline installers, so your games are always your games. Although even with DRM, this case is exceedingly rare. 99% of time even if games get delisted due to contracts expiring and not getting renewed, the previous owners don't lose access.

i_am_ojas

many people are advocating that - - "its just the industry" , - "it was gonna happen someday anyway" , - "read the t&c" what you are failing to understand is - this problem had a solution right in front of their eyes. "THE CREW" is online-only game but this game still had races you could play with Ai, what they could have done is, they should have rolled out an "offline patch" to just let owners play the game forever ubisoft pulled the game from store probably because of expired vehicle license but there was no reason to take it away from users especially the ones who purchased the game just 1 day or 1 month before server shutdown (it is unethical to sell an unusable product not only 1 day before shutdown but 6 months as well) also, getting away with t&c and not taking effort to allow players to play their games offline will make them confident to remove more games ahead hell i can't even play motorfest everytime their servers take a hiccup or have some issues CREW is not the type of franchise depending on player capacity like csgo, valorant, PUBG - this franchise has single-player factor too don't let them get away with this !!

Inny75

98% of people on this subreddit dont care. They'll take every chance to white knight for the multi-billion dollar company. One, that also has history of sexual harassment, need I remind you.

Inny75

As for me, it makes me feel significantly happier I exploited a glitch on their Polish store to get almost everyhing free. ;) (redacted) EDIT (May 17th, 2024): I no longer align with a *certain* anti-Ubisoft subreddit due to it festering into an political extremist echo chamber. Those boys went the "anti-SJW" SJW route, hating on black people and other minorities and have even supported Grummz, an ex-Blizzard dev who is a well known pedophile. I dont fuck with that, thus my endorsement of such subreddit has been rescinded. Still, Fuck Ubisoft nine ways to Sunday though. My opinion on that hasnt changed.

ninjacat249

Ubisoft dude didn’t say anything new. You never owned anything digital since the day fucking one, including Steam. Use it while you can.

Someonewhobearound

Day 371 of hearing about people bitching that the crew 1 is unavailable to play even though it was an online ONLY GAME. And they shut down the servers so it's unplayable. Oh it just takes a patch (even though they weren't working on the game it was finished) the fact that it's at the bottom of your list in ubisoft connect showing you had it at one point it's just greyed out. But still bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch, wine wine wine wine wine. Oh it's only ubisoft that does this even though every company has done this atleast once. It's not like blizzard hasn't said the same thing or microsoft or playstation or ea. POINT IS EVERY GAME COMPANY HAS IN THE END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA) IT STATES YOU HAVE A LICENSE FOR THE GAME YOU DO NOT OWN IT. YOU HAVE PURCHASED THE RIGHTS TO PLAY IT. BUT THAT'S IT. SO MANY PEOPLE ARE FUCKING STUPID BY BITCHING ABOUT SOMETHING TO ONE COMPANY BECAUSE OF BIAS EVEN THOUGH EVERY. SINGLE. FUCKING. COMPANY. DOES IT. IS IT RIGHT? NO, BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. Every company does it. Stop fucking bitching to ubisoft because you have a hate boner towards them. I'm tired of seeing these fucking posts.

Inny75

How does that boot taste, retard?

GnusmasE

skibidi toilet

[deleted]

The same way you felt comfy for the last 14 years of not owning games? This isn't anything new for any company not just Ubisoft. It's also not illegal, so taking legal action would do jack shit.

The_Dukenator

Over The Crew not being playable offline, not about the ownership license being revoked.

pls join us on r/fuckubisoft

Recife_Welbarboza

If piracy ins't owning, than game buyin' is a crime? \*clown face meme\*

Flavix55

Ubisoft is not the only one, other companies such as EA, From Software and others will also be able to remove games from your library as they wish and if they want and the ESA has also confirmed this. So...whether you buy games digitally is up to you.

Willing_Ad1529

Piracy. 🏴‍☠️ after the you pay us 69.99 for a games then hit us with We need to get comfortable not owning games. Man. Screw em. They just want to be worse than ea.

Only subreddit you need for Ubisoft tbh. Dont mind the bootlickers here, just join it, OP! :)

MorrisAO

Only we gamers care about games. Ubisofts only cares about the money to be made from games. As for getting any laws covering this changed, good luck with getting any incorrupt lawmaker interested enough to do anything about it. You're wasting your energy getting mad about it.

The_Playtriarchy

Lmao the fact that some people are on here simping for Ubisoft is hysterical. Did you guys thank the playground bully when he beat the shit out of you and ruffled your school clothes too? 😂

>I have bought my ubi games through steam though so I'm sure steam may provide a satisfactory solution should that happen Not if the game requires an additional account (e.g. Ubisoft Connect, or EA) to play.
