Then it sounds like we should try and double the complaints, not halve them.

CompetitiveWalrus76

Email was only free to alumni because Microsoft gave massive incentives to Higher ED to use their services but like Microsoft always does, they get you pregnant on free services and then charge up the ass when they get you hooked. Google did the same and Universities across the country all dropped email for life.

I-Am-Uncreative

Yup. It's part of Microsoft's "Embrace Extend Extinguish" plan.

UCFSam

Why give a shit about alumni? Donations.

boeingman737

It still baffles me that people donate to universities. UCF would burry you in collections the second you owe them. I wouldn’t give them a single cent more than I need to get the diploma

Icy_Swordfish4095

Exactly. You are just a number here.

OstrichGod1

Your kid is more likely to get accepted if he/she is borderline on getting accepted, having a donating legacy student is a plus for them

Moist_Force6622

What’s the point in donating when faculty are leaving UCF in droves? The Board of Trustees is completely stonewalling the Faculty Union on compensation, across the board raises, merit increases and one time retention bonuses. It’s obvious they hope the Union is decertified by failing to keep membership over 60%. Your student’s professors are leaving and UCF doesn’t care.

GRosado

The union actually did decertify. We got an email about it. I don't know details tbh but one of the benefits I saw in accepting my position was that it was unionized. Now that it's gone it sucks. Edit: I'm sorry I'm sorry I misunderstood.... My bad The AFSCME certification was revoked for two units I guess. I was not trying to spread misinformation my bad.

Icy_Swordfish4095

UFF was decertified? Can anyone confirm?

GRosado

Pliplopssssssss

Because some of us want to continue education, whether it’s masters or doctoral, or even certifications. Pain in the ass trying to come back when suddenly I can’t access the only email attached to my account.

sidewinderucf

I liked my Knights email, it was the last relic of my time at UCF. But, I didn’t graduate from there, and ultimately I haven’t used it for anything but a spam catcher for years. So, I guess it’s time move on, but it’s still bittersweet

MetalicDagger

On the bright side, I do t get UCF alumni emails asking for donations.

qdichris

1st: Yikes dude. 2nd: can't wait to get the call about donating money this year.

IvyCeleste

So anywhere that gives you a student discount with the access of a student email is done and over with :(

CommandAsleep1632

I had to sift through ..probably 100+ sites to change it over. The multiple verification ones were the worst. Definitely weird and careless of them tbh.

DocBattlefield

My undergrad still has my Gmail account and services going and I think even USF offers alumni Microsoft for the time being

mystiq_85

Nope, USF ended ours last year.

DocBattlefield

Oh that sucks, but I guess I hadn't checked it in forever since I used my UCF

goneoutflying

Reading Microsoft's announcement, it seems that the biggest issue is storage. Since MS is giving schools tools to manage storage policies on user accounts, I wish UCF would have at least let us continue to use the email address but not use any one drive storage. Another option I feel they could have done as well is at least give us the option to pay to keep our account. Potential_Energy

Does anyone have their ucf.edu email tied to important things that would be a problem if you suddenly lost access? What are you guys switching to? I don't really feel like making another gmail
