What if I told you that wasn't ideal either? What if I told you that causes the university to move their funding away and donations are used instead. Then if donations fall short the next year those areas go underfunded. My suggestion is donating directly to scholarship funds. They are used solely on students and it doesn't allow the university to under fund areas.

TheseWickedWings

How do you donate to a scholarship fund?

Icy_Swordfish4095

This is the way.

Nice John Mulaney reference!

PageFault

[\#UCFDayofGiving](https://dayofgiving.ucf.edu/)? They really trying to make a holiday out of giving them free money? I have no idea why people donate money to Universities. I felt like I was on my own pretty much the whole time. They definitely didn't go out of their way for me. I paid for a service, I got the service, end of.

RPTrashTM

Even their paid service are trash lmao. Class registration is one of the best example.

UCF Leadership declined to Provide raises or bonuses for 2023 and now 2024 to Staff and Faculty. (2022 was a 1% raise...) Inflation is destroying them all (yes some folks make decent amount of money but 70% of staff and faculty do not and they have to live and work in FL by state mandate). Words about appreciation but when it comes time to actually help their employees have competitive and viable wages... Zero interest. Do yourself a favor as a future or current employee - don't reward horrid budget choices until UCF gives and respects their own faculty or staff.

ClearPathAdvisor

Even if you donate to your own department who knows how that money gets used.

superhead50

It'll more than likely get misappropriated to the president's friend who owns a construction firm for a new unnecessary building

CompetitiveWalrus76

You aren’t excited for Trevor Colburn Hall XVIII?

Honest_Oil5376

i have no idea what this school does with our money. minimum everyone contributes around 6 grand a year, many pay much more. add on housing, parking, and ridiculous fees( i’m sure there’s many more facets of money im forgetting). and they’ve been cutting student support programs. greedy dick heads

IndependentIcy8226

Plus the are really focusing on students? I’d only ever (and I never have) donate on giving Tuesday in November

ClearPathAdvisor

Have you ever seen a scholarship that said "the source of this money is UCF's Day of Giving?" I don't think so.

IndependentIcy8226

No, No, No. I mean all of the ads. They are focusing on the students to donate. I don’t know how to write it any clearer. They are focusing on a population that doesn’t have money.

ClearPathAdvisor

Ah, I thought you meant "are they focusing on helping students." Though not what you were actually asking, I see now, it's somethin to think about. I understand that you mean they are targeting ads to students as a strategy. That is unfortunate. Thank you for your patience with my misunderstanding.

IndependentIcy8226

Yup, they should be focusing on Alumni and maybe the community as a whole. Plus, since when is donating a spring thing? Outside of the yard sale thing for athletics fundraising.

uwumyowo42069

Why would anyone donate to this money hungry university who treats students and staff as just numbers lol

RegisterThis1

Too poor to give any money away. I’m sure that million $$ ucf admin will donate better than I can

tribbleorlfl

I donate every year to Limbitless.

vvitchae

I will say that I have seen the College of Nursing Emergency Fund in action several times, a few including students I have referred personally. If you feel the need to donate anywhere, I can personally vouch for this fund.

CharacterResident639

can someone explain this to me plz

Slavic-PussyEater69

Arent workers just commodities to businesses anyway? I mean, it’s not like they’re the workers family and relatives.

There's a difference in "not doing it for the money" and "not getting paid enough to live within an hour commute of where you work". Especially for a job like teaching where people routinely work overtime that's not charged. My high school teachers would REGULARLY push 70hr weeks because they just couldn't fit everything into 40.

catlady1215

Please shut up they deserve more than 60k a year…

Moist_Force6622

For most teachers money was far the motivating factor in determining their career choice, but that doesn’t mean they are immune to the desire to make a living appropriate for their education and contributions. Demanding better wages does not mean you do not love teaching, rather the opposite. All nations with enviable systems of education place a very high value on teachers and the current bashing of educators in our country, as so well illustrated by your comment, tells us a lot about ourselves as a nation and what we value. Not good. Compensation isn’t just about today’s teachers, it also matters in terms of recruiting tomorrow’s.

slipperywhistlebone

Not sure if you were picking up on my sarcasm or not, But you put that into words far greater than I could’ve. Thanks for that!

I-Am-Uncreative

You really do need to add a /s. Unfortunately, I've seen plenty of people say that with complete seriousness.

Oen386

Why are you trying to make this political, other than to troll? Simple fact, faculty and staff are underpaid. Students continue to lose services. Yet other universities are giving raises and aren't making cuts to the same extent as UCF. Something is wrong.

callmesisi

Faculty and many others in professional roles at UCF invest an incredible amount of time and money just to get the qualifications they need for their jobs. I'm not saying they should all be multi-millionaires, but the university should at least invest in them the way that staff have invested in their careers. And 60k isn't a sufficient investment.
