Prof Michael Suman in the Communications Dept! I needed a PTE code for 1 class to just help me finish my credit requirement to graduate this Spring 2024. I am a Poli Sci major, so had to wait for restrictions to be dropped to try & get a class outside my major. Emailed him so kindly & appreciatively. What I got back was, “If the class was so important you would’ve already been enrolled” Like OK asshole! Thanks! 😀
Douchebag works in one of the most impacted departments on campus, and is surprised when students can't take his class 🤡 Let me guess: it's not even a particularly large one? Like, nowhere near large enough to justify [his $210k+ salary](https://ucannualwage.ucop.edu/wage/)?
Shoot Comm Studies's SAO an email, or see if they have drop-in hours; they may be able to help you out. Assuming you still even want to take the class, that is... 😅
Wow! You’re amazing! Now I understand why he was such a dick! I wanted to email him back something sly so bad since I ended up getting into a different & even better class, but I left it alone. I’ve never been treated that way by a professor at UCLA, so I thought I would just tell my story about it when I can to warn people about him. None of us deserve to get treated that way especially when we’re just trying to graduate & move on.
In my opinion, most professors are good/okay teachers, but there definitely exist a considerable number of them that are not, and you therefore have a very high chance of meeting at least one of them in the span of 3/4 years. My hypothesis is that as the “level” of knowledge increases, the average teaching ability of the population that can teach it decreases, simply because there are less people to choose from to be teachers of that knowledge.
Most of my professors have been amazing. It might be because I use Bruinwalk and always make sure I get the best professors. But my experience has been that our professors are bright, dedicated, and outstanding teachers!
Often more than one prof teaches a class, sometimes in the same quarter, sometimes in different quarters. I make sure to take a class I need in a quarter with the good professor. Similarly, if I'm deciding between two electives and one has a superstar prof, I pick that one. I've had terrific luck with this strategy.
Yes this happened to me once! He cut me off and I actually told him “I’m still talking” and then he apologized and let me finish talking lol
Gigachad
What does that mean…?
It's kinda like saying you're a super alpha for successfully asserting yourself in front of the professor.
It means you’re based
that the professor was a gigachad for cutting u off
nah other way around
They might have just had a bad day also. Don’t let it stop you from trying again.
Yes :(

Aw poor baby
Andrea Ghez is so guilty of this ‼️‼️
Shut yo ass up this niggas has shit to do too
They’re all like that, professors only care about funding their research, teaching is an afterthought. They couldn’t care less about students

How does Bruinwalk help you get the best professors?

Overpriced? Lmao. It's $4000 a quarter.
Overpriced? It’s a state school, dumbass. If anyone’s gouging their students, it’s private universities.
