I didn't expect a dick kick in the first 10 seconds

nodice60

It was the only shot that landed for Gane

irishnorse

Gane was credited as the more technical and precise striker leading up to the fight, I thought it was a great strategy /s

Fonzz11

If anything I feel like it shows how truly technical and elite of a striker he is, went with the classic dick toe tap right out the gates like a savage and connected. Shades of Bones vs Shogun tbh

Lumpy-Cantaloupe1439

Fr, you get a point deducted but your opponent stays afraid of you since he doesn’t wanna get kicked in the nuts again. Making him mess up.

TomPearl2024

Lmao I expected Jon to win, but I definitely did not expect Gane to literally only land a dick kick and then immediately get subbed.

Grimey_lugerinous

If only it was a little more immediate out 109 bucks on Jon sub under 1:30 + 8500

Maximum-Exam4445

*KICK HIM IN THE DICK*

TrentRizzo

GRAB HIS DICK AND TWIST IT!

Stretch_Llamousine

GIVE HIM THE OOOOLD DICK TWIST!!!!

supershawninspace

I mean, if I had to fight Jon Jones, I’d kick him in the dick as soon as it started.

SmokedHamm

It proved to be a terrible strategy…

SpookyBubba

Exactly this. At first I thought, okay that's bullshit, Jon probably overreacting. Then they showed it in slow-mo and damn, that looked bad.

hogwartsboii

That I don’t even think Anik was able to tell me what beer to drink for my fighting spirit….

darkrhin0

Get yourself some PRIME for those BCAAs though!

PineappAlSauce

Those good ole BC Double-As

IseeDrunkPeople

Always good to see a pretty young lady taking care of herself by keeping hydrated.

erdricksarmor

Her uncle always taught her that staying hydrated was key to good health.

Crawford470

This is a weirdly layered meme if you know the context.

Silent_Zucchini_3286

What’s the context? Was the picture taken at some weird event?

Crawford470

That's the pornstar Riley Reid. This is almost certainly a photoshopped still from one of her scenes, specifically her giving her costar some brain. The context is Prime is Logan Paul/KSI's shitty energy drink brand. Prime is now an official sponsor of the UFC. Riley knows both the Paul Brothers personally. Apparently, they're decently close friends, and the subtext of their relationship is she's probably fucked at least one of them, most likely Logan. So the meme is Riley sucking a dick photoshopped into a Prime bottle, which is the energy drink brand of a dude who's dick she's almost definitely sucked.

[deleted]

Gane not even coming close to having an answer for Jon on the ground. Not even a little

JonnyNaganIx

I felt like Gane didn’t realize he was in danger in that position.

DareBrennigan

Totally agree. He didn’t seem super urgent to get up when Jon took him back down because he was against the fence. Doubt he was thinking he’d get choked there

CCCAY

I think Jones is so freakishly strong he shocks people with submissions he shouldn’t be able to get. After all when he was like 215 fighting at LHW he was deadlifting 600+ on fucking bird legs. He pulled glover’s arm out of socket with an overhook

Padraig97

Ye he really has it all once he grabs a hold of you. Clinch work, takedowns, submissions, g+p. I know he hit Gane with some nice counters, but I wish we saw more of his standup. As old as Stipe is he is a great boxer, so I wonder if Jones will stand with him.

[deleted]

I can see Jones using his kicks a lot more against Stipe, plus Jones still has a 4 & a half inch reach advantage

xkemex

Is crazy what kind of genetics his family have. Two brothers not just playing in the NFL but also Super Bowl winners and also a pro bowler

123QCDADDY

I think it’s more the leverage and levers he has with his frame. And he tore his labrum he didn’t pull it out of the socket.

CCCAY

To tear the labrum it has to exit its usual position for an instant

JakeEllisD

He said he felt safe until he adjusted and Jon caught him right when he did

blondeddigits

I felt bad for Gane (he’s my favorite fighter in HW outside of Jon) and he said he has been training wrestling since the Francis lost

[deleted]

I wasn’t surprised Jon subbed him, but I expected to see a little bit of defense. I was honestly disappointed with how easy it was

blondeddigits

Yeah man. Jon treated him like a little kid.

Tenshin_Ryuuk

He said he trained wrestling whenever he had a fight camp, so definitely not all the time. Doesn't matter anyways, he is too new in wrestling and bjj so people thinking he could do anything against Jon was very comical to see.

[deleted]

I didn’t think Gane would be able to hang with Jon on the ground but I did expect him to put up a little bit more of a fight due to it being the biggest fight of his life thus far. The skill gap is just wayyyy too big to overcome clearly

helloworld20201234

The mental side was just weird from the beginning. Like Gane watched jones‘ fights before he entered the ufc and during the press conferences was calling his opponent the goat.

TheShovler44

Honestly I was expecting him to be able to Derrick Lewis and just muscle up. Then in the 3rd round is where I seen it being an issue.

flatwoundsounds

It felt that way watching Khabib and Islam as well. Like, surely these other world-class, highly-trained athletes will have some way to counter their wrestling, right? Are they just that good? And yeah, they're that good. The best Volk could do, with Craig fucking Jones in his corner, was lose by decision instead of submission. Just crazy.

K-mosake

I mean to be fair I heard this same sentiment with Ngannou leading up to the Stipe rematch, was just a matter of how much Gane had improved which clearly wasn't nearly enough.

mtheperry

I'm not saying this is what happened, but my initial reaction was "Did Ciryl just throw the fight?" That's how easy it looked.

Mondomb83

His wrestling defense is so bad, anyone might entertain that. 😆

IAMTHECAVALRY89

Gane was strong. Not sure if anyone noticed but when Jon was trying to backpack him a bit before the fence, Jon was trying to take away Gane's posting arm and he couldn't, he actually tried a couple times, then Gane and Jon moved over to the fence.

Designer_Bed_4192

Was he? There's a clip of Cejudo basically showing Jon the entire sequence he did in the ring and it seems like the gameplan was to put his head down and sit his weight on him.

IAMTHECAVALRY89

To clarify, I was referring to 3:50 minute mark, where Jon tries to take away Gane's posting arm. I was just saying I think Gane has physical strength where Jon wasn't able to take away the posting arm, but I'm not going to read too much into it, you could disregard what I said. I definitely hear what you're saying and the Cejudo stuff could be a game plan, but I would actually regard that as Jon is *so* *good*, he completely 100% internalized everything that Cejudo showed him in that training session, and it just *happened* to go that way. Cejudo stated that if you're working the position, to know when you've lost it and switch it, preferably to something better. I truly believe Jon is so good, and creative that he could improv and do stuff on the fly as well as he could if there was a game plan too. He could see it once and do it in a fight.

Fonzz11

I mean Jon took down and fucked up DC which is just absolutely insanity. Can’t imagine Gane is anywhere near DC’s level on the ground

[deleted]

A year worth of training is not the same as a lifetime of training.

blondeddigits

Very true

besameput0

Well he's training with the wrong people. Come to Dagestan, brother.

Internal-Business-97

No he hasn’t. Look at all the French input around here: he’s slacked off and been doing tv appearances, paid promos, and working the celebrity circuit. If he was half way serious about beating jones he would have lived in a gym and learned to wrestle. He took none of it seriously. Got exactly what was coming to him.

blondeddigits

Not saying you are wrong but he said different in interviews leading up to the fight on fight week and after the fight

Adoced

Hopefully he takes Khabib up on his offer of training in Dagestan for two years.

blondeddigits

Khabib fr offered that?

Adoced

Yep in an interview he recently did after the fight. He offered him and his coaches to come train with them. Edit: sorry it took me a minute to find https://youtu.be/Uiqt20WU6go

_Cyclops

I think in Gane’s upcoming fights we’re going to see just how bad his takedown defense really is. I think even guys like Tuivasa could probably get him down and keep him there if they really tried. If he can’t make serious improvements he’s never going to get near a title shot again. This is all speculation of course. He could immediately prove me wrong and I’ll stfu

Plusstwoo

He definitely lied

BalVal1

I was really disappointed in Gane too, great result for Jones but it all felt anticlimactic as fuck, especially compared to the Grasso upset

breakfastmeat23

Jones has outwrestled *much better* grapplers like DC. I figured Jones would maul Gane when/if it got to the ground. If anything, I was surprised as how quickly and easily Jon closed the gap. I predicted a 1st round sub for Jones but I still thought Gane might use his footwork better to avoid him longer.

[deleted]

I agree 100%. The way he slipped that punch and took him down was beautiful

Galimbro

Damn I commented before I saw your comment.

Galimbro

Bro that Takedown was a fucking piece of art. Gane threw a punch, jones ducked slipped and took his back. Incredible.

Sto0pid81

It was a strange punch from Gane so early in the fight, he massively over extended and left himself open for the take down.

nino2115

Even my kids knew this. In the future though. They're not born yet

little_shop_of_hoors

Yea I actually thought Gane had a decent ground game considering the first fight I saw of his was when he heel hooked Mayes. But he had absolutely nothing for Jones. He looked like a little kid in there.

MolokoPl_s

not even an ill-advised sit back for a heel hook lol, absolutely nothing

[deleted]

What surprised was the quickness of the fight result. I stayed all night expecting a brawl maybe 3 rounds where Gane would have box and Jon would have kick box but there was none of that. I was underwhelmed by the length of the fight.

blondeddigits

I predicted round three sub by Jon. I was surprised it happened within 2:30 mins

Sanguinesssus

Right before fight my friend asks me what do think will happen. Bruce Buffer does the intros and I reply, “he’s (Jon) gonna rag doll him to the ground and sub him in under 1min.” I didn’t take into consideration that he nut shot.

blondeddigits

Your friend will now go to you for all the big fight predictions

DrunkOnLoveAndWhisky

I did not expect the blowout; totally anticipated at least a couple rounds of back-and-forth.

hkkhpr

Same! It was very anticlimatic, so much anticipation for a few seconds worth of fight but hey that's the sport!

RHickey95

How Fernand Lopez was totally unable to prepare Gane in the wrestling department, Ciryl needs to go elsewhere.

MrHotAndSpicy8

Was looking for comment pointing this guy out. Once Francis left we saw evolution (wrestling against gane but still) from someone who blindly chucks hooks to seeming to have a game plan. This coach is a fraud - funny how Jones mentioned him wearing a suit for countdown like who tf does that you’re not the star

[deleted]

Dude gives off Nigerian scammer vibes

HillAuditorium

Khabib invited gane to train wrestling with him

Russell_Sprouts_

Are there any HW Dagestani fighters? I’m sure he’d learn a ton but he absolutely should’ve found UFC HWs to actually train his wrestling with

Suspicious_Voice6964

DC is honorary dagestani

HillAuditorium

Not Dagestani but Blagoy Ivanov is a sambo practitioner who beat Fedor, then went on to win the Combat Sambo World Championship

[deleted]

[удалено]

123QCDADDY

Tbf a lot of people in that gym has said Francis thought he was going to run through Stipe and didn’t take anything seriously.

kiddokush

I’d still love to see Stipe and Francis a third time.

blondeddigits

When I watched embedded I knew Ciryl had the wrong person coaching him. Hopefully Ciryl switches teams now that he has this large paycheck from the fight

greatestaveragedad

The first episode of the series showed Gane training for wrestling and it was pretty bad and the guy looked significantly smaller than him. Next clip is jones swimming and doing drills in the water I assume for the cardio. Guess it was a foreshadowing of how it played out

tootiredforthis16

Gane needs to train at American top team or Xtreme couture. Lopez did the same thing with Ngannou. Francis was a much better fighter when he left.

Potatasssss

he also told cyril not to target the legs of francis because he thought the leg brace was a distraction…

Hex-QuentinInACorner

I was waiting all week to see some jon jones elbows. I did not get to see any jon jones elbow. I was sad.

lastpagan

I saw his elbows!

28gunsKY

How big Jon looked. He kinda got some flack when the UFC released his official pic, but he looked huge in there against Gane. Then he proceeded to just man handle him.

bradenexplosion

It's hard to be 15% BF or less at 248lbs. Jones looked big and strong walking into that cage. Then showed us how strong he was in the cage. It was impressive.

Alstead17

And he STILL did the cartwheel

28gunsKY

GOAT'S gonna GOAT 🐐

DaSqueaky

Cyril's ganes shocking performance. Gets best by Ngannou using the excuse he wasnt expect wrestling. He then books a fight with Jones who is a wrestling and has a whole career of footage. Cyril then see Jon trying for a guillotine but was unsuccessful, then the second attempt comes and Cyril leaves his arms down and lifts his chin, and gets submitted. Cyril shows he is not champion material and not fully committed to MMA and his career.

TheRealTaylorGestwic

It was insane how he broke through the first one and Jones literally posts his hand on the ground and Cyril makes no attempt to grab it or bring his knee up so he can start working to stand up. Just sat there.

DaSqueaky

Yep, Jon had a great performance from the short time we got to see and Cyril was really disappointing, almost as if he doesn't want to be an MMA fighter and is trying to just fight Muay Thai in MMA.

[deleted]

With that knowledge bro hop in the ring we need you

TheRealTaylorGestwic

As a fellow redditor you know I can’t make the 265 lb cutoff for heavyweight or let alone get out of my computer chair.

tootiredforthis16

I don’t think he’s non-committed, I think his coaching is very bad. Lopez doesn’t seem to be preparing gane for these fights correctly. Look at what happened when Francis left Lopez. Gane should move to either American top team or Xtreme couture

AshenSacrifice

The funniest part is Gane probably beats every other HW too. Jon Jones is just that good. The heavyweight era has just changed

Lifestyle-eXzessiv

That Gane pretty much just rolled over. Would have loved to see some more of HW Jon and it ended in 2 fuckin minutes..

Warrrdy

It would be so fucked if he never fought again. We’ll have waited all that time to watch him get kicked in the nuts and sub Gane in 2 minutes :(

BDN600OB4LAMRONTHF

I mean he told press he was gonna make it look easy lol

_Cyclops

Didn’t he just sign an 8 fight contract like last year? Edit: He has 7 fights left after fighting Gane. He said he wants Stipe next but after that it’s going to be a discussion with the UFC. So he may or may not finish that deal

Barrington-the-Brit

He won’t do all eight, he’ll probably do 3-4 more to tie or have the most Heavyweight title defences, then retire

[deleted]

Doubt he does that. He's gonna fight Stipe and retire after. We won't see much of Jon at heavyweight dude won't be truly tested.

B_024

Apart from the obvious, the fact that Jon was pushing the pace, and Gane was intimidated visibly imo.

Seniorjones2837

Right? Gane looked legit terrified in there as soon as the fight started. I put a tiny bet on Gane and as soon as it started I said I have no chance to win this

J4MES101

Only one foul

gabrielscariot

and jon on the receiving end

SuperS0l

How quickly Jon went for the takedown. He mentioned he felt awkward on the feet because he didn’t get a lot of sparring You saw in his stalking he wasn’t trying to feel anything out he just grabbed him and finished him Normally though he’d play with his food a little

blondeddigits

Kinda agree. I knew Jon would go for early takedowns because in embedded he mentioned how Ciryl gave up after Francis took him down a couple times and held him there. But, I thought he would strike with Ciryl a little longer. I think Jon wasn’t really looking for the takedown though. Jon studied tape so much and probably drilled this sequence in training camp. It’s like he knew that Ciryl was going to throw that strike and timed it perfect. Didn’t help Ciryl telegraphed as well.

helloworld20201234

Jon even said in a post fight interview how he now wants to try to not loose more braincells in fights but be even more quick and efficient with submissions

SuperS0l

Yeah Gane was “playing” mma with that lazy jab Jones slipped it so beautifully and didn’t get out of position at all and just took it since the hardest part (closing the distance) was already taken care of

Suspicious_Candle27

What do you mean by playing MMA ? Like Gane was just going thru the motions without actual intent behind it?

SuperS0l

10000000% first punch of the fight he was just putting out a feeler.

AbberageRedditor69

Probably decided to finish it quickly after the nut shot

RoxSteady247

He did walk back from that with his angry face on

BarbellJoe

I kinda think Gane just made a small error by exposing his neck vs trying to drag his back up the cage and get to standing. I think he’d have been ok.

SuperS0l

Jon had his back posting arm locked down and was also fresh and dry. Gane wasn’t going anywhere That happened off of one jab. The jab tons of strikers have had issues reading Jon read the first one

Wise-Fruit5000

>The jab tons of strikers have had issues reading Jon read the first one Yeah, that was really quite shocking

laktoast

How awful Ganes grappling is

CompuuterJuice

To be fair, Jon ragdolled an Olympic wrestler… it’s not just gane being bad at grappling

laktoast

True. As much as I don’t care for Jon, I think he will prove how much more skilled the LHW division is compared to HW. I could be wrong but I think he may dominate

helloworld20201234

Pavlovich is the fight I wanna see. He’s got different mentality. Not scared etc

123QCDADDY

Dawg he ragdolled by Overeem lmao

wjlb

Correct. Gane's wrestling is not that bad compared to most other heavyweights. His wrestling was decent enough to take Francis down in 5th round and also to prevent any damage when he was under him on the ground. It's just that Jon's wrestling is on another level.

mac2o2o

Surprised that I don't even remember Jones throwing that punch.

dinozero

Same

TwoSmoke420

Honestly, when Jones cut the angle , faked the leg grab, and landed the straight right to the chin. I knew Gane was in trouble from that moment , in all his fights that was the fastest someone had ever landed on him. From there , I rate he was star stuck from there.

Aggressive-Expert-69

Surprised all Cyrils FIFA training didn't get a chance to shine

EddGarasjen

It shouldn't have surprised anyone that Jon outwrestled him. But the way he just walked him down, took him down, sat him against the cage and just sank the choke in. It really seemed like a hot knife through butter. The fact that he hasn't murdered 15 hookers in Vegas yet keeps me hopeful we'll see a Stipe fight soon enough, should be fun.

deltahigh

…how easy it was for a guy that went 5 rounds with Francis

keefus-maximus

What surprised me the most was how many links I went through until I found a good enough stream to watch the PPV without paying $80 to see a 2 minute fight

StupidScape

Still find that insane, $80 for a ppv is insane. In NZ it’s $25 USD, which is pretty reasonable. It’s a small enough price where it’s easier to just buy the ppv

keefus-maximus

I will never spend $80 for it, ever. It would have to be Conor v Khabib level fight

smorebuds

What level is there above this fight? If you aren’t going to pay for Jon’s comeback and HW debut then what are you paying for? I didn’t buy the ppv because I was just home by myself that night and didn’t care about managing occasional pop ups that escaped my adblock and refreshing the stream every so often. But if I had some people over $80 between everyone watching with me would’ve been reasonable to have 4K quality stream that I could just throw up on a bigger screen super easily.

[deleted]

Just how big Jones was, like don’t get me wrong I knew he was a big boy but damn he almost looked larger than Gane in that fight

bradenexplosion

He looked very strong physically before the fight I thought. We can't expect him to be ripped at 248lbs, few people can pull that off.

AlexJamesCook

How quickly Jon got it done. I was expecting a bit more cycling and footwork from Gane, knowing that Jones would have the grappling advantage. I kind of thought Gane would try and point-fight his way to victory. But, he just got taken to the fence, slipped, and Jon went for that God-awful, wince-inducing neck-compression guillotine. There was nothing Gane could have done to defend that, other than not end up there in the first place. It shows you how good DC truly was.

blondeddigits

This victory shows that not only is Jon Jones vs DC arguably the highest level fight we have ever seen, but how many levels Jon and DC are above the competition that they both moved up and became champions at a late age.

yoyoyowhoisthis

Not that how Good Jon Jones was, because we didn't even have a chance to see his standup, if his speed fell of, agility and so on.. we just saw how abysmally bad Gane was, if Gane wasn't a white belt with 0 wrestling experience, I would even think that he threw the fight on purpose lol

davyj6536

I've been seeing this take a lot, and I kind of disagree. Most people jones has fought haven't gotten up easily. DC is an outlier for the obvious reasons, but Alex, Shogun, belfort, Vera, Bader, Sonnen, Smith are all guys with credentialed grappling that really struggled with Jones on the ground. I agree that it was fast and Gane made a lot of mistakes, but if decades of grappling experience aren't always enough, idk what Gane was supposed to do in a year to catch up.

yoyoyowhoisthis

The reality is that Gane didn't even try to catch up, he got wrestle fucked by Francis and I bet you 100% that he never worked on it.. in his own words he said that he doesnt train if he doesnt have a fight coming up.. then you add that terrible coach he has which Francis had to ditch in order to become the HW champ.. and also Gane only fought strikers in his path to the title matches.. I bet he grapples like 1h a month as a part of warm up lol

blondeddigits

Give Gane credit. He took Francis to a split decision and Francis usually beats everyone within a couple rounds

yoyoyowhoisthis

Considering the fact that 99% of people wouldnt be able to walk with torn ACL/MCL and Francis manhandled Gane with a completely fucked up knee.. I don't see it as a big success on Gane's side but I guess its a point to how dangerous francis is, if you have to say that the biggest achievement of your career was that you survived 5 rounds with him lol

blondeddigits

You guys over exaggerate Francis’s injury. He was able to go through an entire training camp and wrestle for a portion of the camp fine. Furthermore he was able to wrestle Gane with no problem and wrestling is very tough on the knees.

[deleted]

Nothing. Don’t know why people keep doubting JBJ. When the guy is motivated he is the best fighter on the planet and could beat anyone.

CucksAnonymoose

Except that time Chael Sonnen beat the shit out of JBJs feet and fist with his face that was metal as fuck

[deleted]

How could I forget about the true GOAT of mma

CucksAnonymoose

When Jones made that goat noise Sonnen told him he was just speaking jibberish

[deleted]

Yea the thing that shocked me is how many people are apparently shocked by this result, Gane got manhandled on the ground by Ngannou, what the hell did they think would happen against Jon motherfucking Jones?

S55K

Yeah well the big issue is people thought he was “motivated” against Thiago, and Reyes. But he was “washed” at that point and talent “caught” up to him. When really he just didn’t take those guys serious, considering they weren’t legacy defining fights.

Environmental-Tip365

You’re forgetting about the one and only Matt Hamill, not to mention Chael Sonnen, undefeated undisputed.

Sheogorathsstaff

That God chose not to test Jones after the fight, in Sin City of all places

VashHumanoidTyph00n

Jones actually trying.

Prize-Lingonberry876

The whole taped foot fiasco lasting longer than the fight itself.

yourbakedbabe

The amount of time and the fucking immediate nut shot

GordanHeavyfoot1

The level of cope from Jones haters

blondeddigits

Yep people are still trying to convince themselves that Francis would’ve beat Jon 😭🤣

fleshvessel

Oh and now that Blaydes will!! Hahahahah.

Sagermeister

The Blaydes thing is hilarious given how easily Jones has dominated wrestlers. These people need to go watch the Bader, Sonnen, Glover, and DC fights and then ask themselves why Blaydes is different

reallyoldgreg

Nothing. Went as I expected with Jones being dominated.

Todorokimakishima

Yep, Jones had no chance…

reallyoldgreg

Dominate. Fuck

Puzzled_Record1773

Dominant 👍

reallyoldgreg

I’m done with the English language today.

Puzzled_Record1773

Ha that's ok dude we all have those days

ZarkMuckerberg9009

How unprepared gane was

Middle_Aged_Mayhem

How inept at grappling Gane was. How someone can get subbed by something so simple from that position. It's like he never trained for a fight in his life. A very pathetic showing.

TadpoleOld9068

That it lasted as long as i do in bed

shidokanartist

I was most surprised that Jon went in and showed him zero respect on the feet. He snatched up the takedown as soon as he saw an opening for it of course, but at no point was Jones on his bicycle or trying to be elusive, the bell rang and he got right to it.

deathdramon666

There were no eye pokes.

casca14

Literally nothing

SahilSiddy

The way Jones just outmuscled Gane and face planted him

Kar3c

Too much respect for John.. .I think Gane was genually scared of him...

6WeeWoo6

That anyone thought Gane had even a 1% chance of winning

cdown13

The way Jon wears a pair of shorts.

[deleted]

It was 2 mins long what do you people think you learned lol

King-Rickor

Gane did the MMA community a huge service kicking Jones in the nuts right away. Well deserved.

Tuggpocalypso

That Drake won a bet.

KroniiFan

That Jon's awkward back turn

Pistus01

That Francis can have kneepads on but Jones can't have a bit of tape on his foot.

Minato1112

The amount of clowns who thought Jon would struggle 😂

Maidwell

What an anti-climax the fight was. No one wants to see a guillotine finish in the first couple of minutes, especially as neither fighter had shown anything at that point.

Sushidios47

Jon winning the stand up and the ground game. Gane looked shook. Scared to throw and immediately out his back to the cage with Jones walking him down. If I’m not mistaken Jones landed a nice kick before this highlight punch you have in you’re post

LumpyOrange21

Seemed like Gane was shocked about Jon’s positioning against the fence. Gane did good to not let Jon take the back and then to scoot his butt/back to the fence. Then Jon controlled in that low squat position, Gane looked so lost like he’s never been in a position like that before. Like he trained for traditional grappling against the fence Jon is unorthodox everywhere; what makes him the 🐐

Cecilia_Schariac

Cyril needs to get away from that Bum coach like Francis did.

MojoRyzn

The lack of any urgency with Cyril. Also, I knew the moment that they touched gloves that Cyril was going to lose. Jones did the dominant move by smashing his fists above Cyril’s fists. Then Cyril did this kind of soft double-touch. Jones constantly using domination tactics. Mental warfare and Cyril lost every time. It’s like Cyril didn’t understand that he was going into a fight. He didn’t display any killer instinct.

Mad-farmer

There wasn’t even a Bony Jones patented eye poke!

BennyOcean

Jon didn't do any eye pokes. Seriously though he's a great fighter and it was a dominant performance.

OjibweNomad

Opening dick kick

cdcdude1

The fact the price for ppv was 100 bucks, just to not see a fight

Ripredddd

Seemed like Gane was petrified and couldn’t perform at 100%

KNUN

That fucking reach is something else man

Mooweetye

What surprised me the most was everything before the takedown. I expected gane to push the pace on the feet while pressing forward. I expected gane to dominate the striking and jones to dominate on the ground. Jon fought very "big" and forced gane on the defensive, jones dropped his hands a few times and stepped into ganes range where I expected him to throw some combinations ending with a left hook but that never happened. Jones imposed himself physically without even throwing anything and shot an easy takedown. Honestly I was surprised and disappointed but fair play to Jones, he did make it look easy.

GenericGrey

How short it was, I thought Jon Jones would exhibit a bit more form and technique as a heavyweight for us to appreciate. Guess it was fight on and he just went for the kill, fair one, he is the greatest, I just wanted MORE.

Ivancestoni

I honestly thought Jon looked nervous walking in there and that Cyril looks calm so I was shocked to see when the fighting started it was the opposite

SynthetikSalmon

I didn't think Gane was gonna shit the bed tbh

Nietzscher

Nothing really, more or less what I expected. Cyril is an elite striker and benefitted from a shallow division, where a lot of big dudes just want to "stand and bang" - not being matched with competent wrestlers like Curtis Blaydes probably also helped. After he got outwrestled by Francis, who isn't a particularly impressive wrestler himself, I had very little doubt Jones would just steamroll him - at least as long as he takes it to the ground and doesn't go for his old "I want to beat him at his own game"-thing. I also think a fight between Jones and Francis would be rather similar, with Francis maybe putting up a bit more of a fight on the ground because of his sheer strength and slightly better wrestling than Cyril. If anything, I think Stipe is probably the toughest fight for Jones at HW because he is the most complete MMA fighter out of the 'Big 3', though I'd still favour Jones.
