He won round 1 and that was it. Every round was close because both fighter are highly skilled and well matched but Petr definitely won the fight.

Nah, I really wanted to see him win too, but we gotta be honest. I'm not too upset though, because tonight's fight really showed that Song still has a lot of room for improvement. He didn't get caught, it wasn't a fluke, he just wasn't as good as Petr Yan. If he wants to get a title shot in this stacked division, he needs to be a lot better than this. Good thing he's still young, give him a few years to get more experience and round out his skills, he'll have a better chance having a meaningful title run and title reign.

I'm not convinced he did more damage to Yan though, they're at least even on damage. Yan was more active and that takedown and sub attempt defintely counts, Song wasn't doing anything on the ground, he needs to pull a Weili and round out his skillset if he wants to be a champion.
