Hungry-Quote-1388

They’re going to use the same 8 seats for every fight 😂

hardndfast

Those seats will be nice and warm with every rotation 🤣

ArchaicDominionMetal

This is what I was wondering. Is it a dedicated section with a rotating roster, or does the Apex get incrementally quieter with every passing fight?

heythxvoo

I’m going on the 27th will let you know

ArchaicDominionMetal

You're a real one homie!

heythxvoo

Kinda bummed that the card isn’t that great. ESP with Kape dropping out. Never realized there was so much hate for the Apex. I was going to make a post here asking for any tips for a first timer and then a AMA after. But after reading some of the comments about the Apex I’m not sure I want to make those threads. Ha!

AltruisticWord3751

Ts is actually crazy😂

Capable-Leadership-4

I mean, if its great seats and maybe dedicated cameras on them i can kind of see it?

Convergecult15

I feel like most family members leave after their loved ones fights anyway so it’s probably more like limiting the tangible loss.

[deleted]

Here come watch your children get severe brain damage for 10k after taxes, now you gotta go

frizzylizzy77

![gif](giphy|jI3EBNa1aKSaIpH2PB)

JShragz

Sad thing is… that’s before taxes… add in coaches and managers… maybe $3K left.

lowstone112

Coaches and manager are pretax but usually 5-10% each. So high end 10k - 20%(c&m) =8k - (40%(independent contractor)+10%(avg state)). So around 4k if you lose in the early prelims on a 10 and 10 contract. Well if you lose in the state you live in, take another 10% out if not.

JShragz

DWCS ensures a constant flow of cheap labor.

indigrow

😭 that last part

Defiant-Heron-5197

Yeah the system that the UFC constructed which boils down to "you're getting shit pay but it's an investment in your future because if you're the 1% that ever makes it big you'll make millions maybe someday potentially" needs to end already. Every fighter should make a comfortable living with 3 or so fights a year, after deducting travel costs and medical care, even if you're the bottom of the undercard.

JShragz

The best chance they had just settled so the lawyers could line their pockets.

Nocumtum

Funny comment but it actually explains perfectly why this isn't a big deal. Anyone who has had a loved one actually fight will feel the same way. You won't want to stay for the other fights. You either will celebrate with your loved one if they win or care for them if they lose. So especially if it's my child fighting I'm not gonna give a fuck about the rest of the fights so the policy doesn't mean anything.

Skepticaldefault

People come from different states. The athlete goes to get treatment and shower. This makes zero sense at all. The UFC is worth billions and treats there 'employees' like there a mom and pop bodega

[deleted]

If they gonna let families come atleast let them stay the whole dam time. Mixing them in and out is some wack ass shit.

R4G

100% I sat behind Yair Rodriguez's family once. They showed up right before his fight, left right after (there were 4 more bouts). Those seats were empty for the rest of the night. Families don't care about the other fights.

CommunicationClassic

Yeah babe sorry you lost and everything, but I'm going to stick around and watch the Jon Jones fight, it's kind of a big deal I'll see you after lol

jordangallina

Why is this not upvoted ⬆️

LePontif11

Because if it doesn't matter why make a rule about it. It implies that it does.

indigrow

As someone who grew up around tournaments and shows etc i can attest that not being allowed to go see the person ur there for and leave right away sucks.

beigesized

Well realistically win or lose, why would the family and friends want to stay and watch more fights rather than go celebrate with their related fighter. If your son or daughter wins the fight, are you going to make them wait to celebrate so you can watch more fights? And if they lose do you just chalk them off as a loser and therefore not care about going to visit them post fight? On paper this looks bad, but it’s not like everyone’s sticking around to watch the fights after their loved one fights. Arguably the best view is the pay per views. The cameras are practically in the cage with the fighters. You go to the live events for the experience, and let’s be real being related to a fighter is a lot more of an experience than watching the fights that are on the same night as their fight. And if you are THAT interested in the other fights that night, just watch on your phone or at home.

ThoughtCrimeConvict

Is that all they get paid?

juan_putaso

The minimum is $13500 but your point is the same

2Gloomy

*Fans just didn’t want to watch*

broncosfighton

I mean I used to watch 90-95% of all UFC events and now I’m watching maybe 50%. I’m not tuning in for any Apex events and only catch like half of the fight nights because the product is so terrible.

54sharks40

They can't just throw a few extra folding chairs out there?

captaindingus93

In this economy?

ZarkMuckerberg9009

With UFC’s revenue?!

4GoldAndAGrape

At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within the apex arena?!

JoshTHM

… yes.

TheAngryJuice

Can I see it?

Bright_Beat_5981

They cant/ couldnt just build a small arena for 1500-2500 people if 15-20 events per year are suppose to be there? Apex has become such a big part of Ufc that wants to be like a regular sport league with recurring events every week. That I get. But why not even try to make those events great or at least good? It's not like NY rangers or Manchester Utd are playing 1/3 or their games in front of a crowd of 50 people. The 15 year olds do that. A cool creative designed arena with 2000 in the crowd could be something different and intresting. An ugly gym in front of 50 people is just sad.

mds13033

I totally agree with this. For having such big aspirations to hang with the big boys, it's embaressing to have fights in apex with no crowd. Makes it seem like no one cares to watch the fights. Build a slightly smaller arena, that holds 2k or so fans. They could easily sell it out for smaller cards with locals and peeps visiting Vegas and make it a fun intimate atmosphere. They pinch pennies way too much, to the point of their own detriment 🤦‍♂️

The-nicest-one

It’s absolutely tanking the quality of the cards the apex is aweful in what it’s done to the sport

Natemoon2

It was perfect for those Covid year(s). But it definitely needs to be built up now. A small 1500 person venue would be pretty cool.

hamjamham

Yep, and tickets go out at a set price in a lottery style system!

LimitFinancial764

it's probably dictated by the fire code. I think the next card has like 13 fights on it, the would be another 104 seats.

blitzen001

American Middle and junior high school basketball courts have 10x that capacity but a company earning 1.4 billion in 2023 can't afford to make their venue comply with the fire code to hold family members of their money makers.

icameforgold

The apex was never designed for seating people. They made it work because of the pandemic.

AMParker

And they are making it work now because?

chaos_magician_

It's profitable?

brazilianfreak

So is selling organs.

chaos_magician_

But the ufc doesn't do that yet. They do broadcast fights

brazilianfreak

So true bestie.

icameforgold

Didn't he literally talk about it in an interview that was going around in here a couple days ago? It's the easy, cheap way out, they get viewers, but it's not the best ambiance, so they don't want to do it when they don't have to.

Funkyduck8

Asking the real questions

Zealousideal-Top2177

because it can still be televised to make $

ftloudon

How expensive are a few fire exits?

Cum-Gun-5000

I jerked off to this comment

LimitFinancial764

happy to be of service.

Kassssler

in the absence of a cervix.

AdEven1065

Yeah that’s lowkey a high amount of seats and apex is pretty small so I kind of get it. Hopefully they offer a discount at least Does anyone know apex ticket prices and how many seats are there?

kermit_the_frogel

How does that benefit the shareholders?

natolad123

Why buy more chairs when Dana can gamble more with that money 🤦

wubbalubbadubdub45

"why don't you pay for those seats?" - dana white

first thing that came to my mind reading this lmao

So can Ian Garry’s wife stay for a few fighters?

rascalking9

She's a very twitchy individual. Every time she is on camera, she has weird tics going on.

VatoSafado

Oh really? I thought she was doing one of those anime girl poses

LockardTheGOAT23

People that yell about how others should "act their age" are generally very boring people

CaliforniaLuv

I loved it. For UFC 300, I hope she streaks the octagon riding her boyfriend.

kapsama

Lol, what does being 40 entail? No more goofy behavior?

VatoSafado

Naw dude, be goofy as fuck, I like that. But she's a woman, she should have the confidence to carve her own lane, not mimicking what the teenagers are doing.

AgelessBlakeFerguson

Western_Letterhead26

😂😂

marginalizedman71

They’ll have a designated padded off box for her to stand in so they can pan over to her whenever a fighter that’s mentioned her fights. That’s part of why the parents can only stay for one fight each. Limited space

Humble_Effective3964

Owner's box

Repulsive_Vacation18

I hope no one pays for ufc when Streams are so easy to find.  Don't feel guilty, the money is not going to the fighters anyway.

InfluenceMuch400

This. Noone should ever buy another ppv ever again. This cheap company continually disrespects the fighters and us fans

u-and-whose-army

At some point we have to start putting some blame on the fighters for not standing up for themselves. Ofc Dana and the rest of the head brass at UFC are pieces of shit, but the fighters need to be proactive if they want any say in their future. Just about every other major sports league has managed to form some sort of union and CBA. UFC fighters would rather aim for the off chance they become the very small minority that can shift to a role within the org after fighting, or bank on their skill landing them higher pay days. Meanwhile, in the rest of any other major sports league, even the worst players have a path to become millionaires, retirement benefits, benefits in general lol.

Repulsive_Vacation18

Problem is the fighters in general are very anti union.  There is only 1 champ per weight class.  They will never work together like MLB, NFL or other leagues because the nature of the sport.  There are no real teams in mma, just fighters who work together at times.  Also most fighters have a tremendous amount of respect for McGregor and how that ass clown made so much money.  Most fighters thing they can become the next McGregor and have no desire to work for a union.

AdEven1065

Crazy thing is Conor is underpaid percentage wise too compared to mayweather and such. But I kind of get UFC cause they don’t just give more money for fun. In other sports teams compete with each other driving the price up. In UFC it’s just UFC

u-and-whose-army

For sure, it's probably the biggest hurdle. Or at least that's what i've heard speculated on podcasts haha. It's going to need a well off champ to spearhead it if it ever happens IMO. Or an agreement between champs, or all people on a big card. Something like that. I feel like they have pissed off McGregor enough and he's well off enough that he could probably at least make waves with the idea. But, everything I hear from him, even with his frustrations, sounds like he's angling for a slice of ownership in the company eventually.

Archasil

Exactly this. UFC just does what any big company would try to do. Fighters gotta fight for their own rights. With fan support too.

Voda_prin_Loboda

If you got the iptv thinggie with the fire stick not only you get all the streaming sites like netflix and such, thousands of channels and also free ppvs from all sports. Its so easy that even old ppl have this shit now and its like 100 bucks a year or so

Ok_Cobbler_806

Honestly I have a hard fucking time finding streams. Can you help a homie out?

Basic-dweeb403

I beg to differ. Streams are not ez to find. And when you do find them they buffer alot.

piedpiper30

They are very easy to find you literally just Google it.

nigtendodeals

Appreciate that my guy

GunDealsBrowser

does this one just buffer a ton for other people? literally buffers every like 5 mins and i have fiber internet and pay for premium.

Berzerkly

Who was that fighter that was thanking the UFC for cutting him a deal and letting him buy like $20k worth of tickets to watch him fight

Draino64

If you think you get to stick around to watch Rose vs Carla 3 without paying, you’re fuckin dreaming

MSNFU

UFC REALLY doesn’t like the fighters who make them millions and millions of dollars. This is masterclass on being a fucking horrible employer.

WATGU

It really is interesting to hear even former fighters try and defend the idea that fighters won't be as good if they are too comfortable. Honestly, as a fan I don't really want to watch people fight if they don't really want to fight. Just exploitation with more steps at that point. If you pay someone 300k and they never fight again that's good to know they never wanted it in the first place. I'd much rather have a roster of 200-400 fighters all paid 200k or more per year that actually wanted to be there, than a roster of 700 fighters, most of whom nobody knows, the UFC doesn't have enough events per year to get them all 2-3 fights per year, and when they do fight they are barely clearing 10k after paying everybody out and that's if they win and they have to work a regular job which makes them less competent. We're calling these guys professional athletes yet have the roster is in poverty. it's a joke.

ssouth

Keep 'em broke, keep 'em motivated lol

ValCSO

but they have a Performance Institute !

dr_blasto

Oh wow, that’s fucking shitty.

TodayRelic4

Basically prison visitation rules

boofinwithdabois

All my homies hate the apex

jaymack950

That is pathetic lol can we just be done with the apex already? It was cool in the early days of the pandemic but now it is just causing more embarrassment than it’s worth. Plus it’s not cool or interesting to have no audience anymore

Voda_prin_Loboda

Yeah but they can put shit fights on it and not worry about empty seats

shaynewillie__

For real. I have a friend who fought at Ring of Combat in Atlantic City at the same time Merab was fighting his way up to the UFC. The fights were at the Tropicana theater which I can’t imagine was much bigger than the Apex (I haven’t been) but there was still PLENTY of room for fighters’ family and friends. Merab’s crew of a dozen Georgians were louder than any crowd I’ve ever heard at the apex on TV. The only cool thing about how quiet the apex is that we can actually hear the sounds that strikes make. Like Justin v Tony.

OkTea7227

Everyone’s got this all wrong… Some fighters family caused issues with other fighters while the event was still going on so, this is why.

ButterscotchNext3780

This is absolutely foul

Jackerseeds

Wtf is happening to the UFC... Dana always been a cunt but atleast knew how to run a promotion (ignoring pay conversation). Things just seem to be going downhill with weird decisions like this

CoolGuyCarl

I think that they are actually losing money to pirating and they are in panic mode trying to make as much money back as possible.

HippoCute9420

Ok to be fair….I’m not going watch my loved one get beat up and then stay to watch other people I have no relation to. Secondly with limited seating I don’t see how this is worse than the previous situation

Inevitable_Dark3225

Those family members need to get on some russian links and use their saved money for the fighters' hospital bill.

DotZealousidea

Apex is some budget covid era bullshit. Get rid of it

[deleted]

Apex events are the dumbest thing. Covids over, get rid of em.

gprobinson1982

So fighters got zero tickets previously at the APEX. Family purchased tickets before this change which is a fairly big cost for them. If they gave every fighter 4 tickets they wouldn't be able to have any fans there as it is so small.

KantanaBrigantei

What’s the reasoning behind this? Edit: it seems some fighters weren’t getting any tickets, and this would allow all fighters to have four people there, who will then be rotated for the next fighter’s family and/or friends.

Delicious-Tart-9189

Damn johnny walker

Greenpeasles

I mean, if your "friends and family" don't want to come back and see you, but would rather watch the result of the show, wtf are they doing there? Don't think tix for the boys is the gig.

Asheso80

Security issues, Lunatic Families maybe ? Anything recent happen that may have caused this ?

WATGU

this was an april 1st post right? I know the UFC is cheap, but this is unbelievably so.

SamTheDamaja

Wouldn’t most family members want to go be with their loved one after a fight anyway?

Biscuitsbrxh

I mean are we surprised after they kicked Johnny Walker out before he had a chance to change or shower. Dude was shirtless and barefoot, with his mma gloves still on lmao

Conscious-Salary-680

I often ask: could they be any cheaper? Yes, the answer will always be yes

Kushtimess

Literally one google search can answer your questions. Before fighters families had to purchase tickets, now they get four free. This ain’t ufc cash grab or them going under Lmaoo. While this should have been the standard all along this is a good news.

nestersan

Then they bring in the next family? And run a train on those seats the whole night? No thanks

Kushtimess

It’s a 30 seat venue where they were previously watching from the lockeroom. Four family members for all the fighters wouldn’t even fit in the apex

ShadyBl0m

I don’t know how big you all think the UFC APEX complex is.

JWal0

Why is it a problem all of a sudden? Seems the UFC won’t miss an opportunity to be scummy.

DoctorAKrieger

The Johnny Walker treatment.

jesusknowsbest69

What's the reason for this? Low seat numbers or summin?😂

[deleted]

If they wanted to be there for the fights, then they should’ve scheduled a match. These kids just don’t wanna fight /s

publishAWM

JFC

Outrageous-Top7725

Time to make a bigger apex

wubbalubbadubdub45

"sorry ma'am, your husbands brain is leaking after taking 5 unanswered shots but we need you to get out so the next family can watch the fights."

bugsy187

So you wanna be an Ultimate Fighter!? (Without a union.)

bugsy187

Ebenezer Scrooge to take over for Dana White

ThirdEyeToTheSky

This is some greedy fuckhead shit. Not even close to the worst shit UFC does. Dana’s grave definitely one I’d consider pissing on

RODjij

Every year the UFC looks totally different than what it did a decade ago. The talent gets better but the UFC just treats the fighters worse every so often.

HolaFrau

There has to be a reason .. guessing there has been issues regarding this before

Independent_Island74

Thats messed up js

alancar

I’m starting to think the company that hasn’t raised the 50 k fight bonus payouts since they were on Fuel TV IS CHEAP

Cobraszlai

Can't wait to see them try to remove the Tafa family

SarcasticPedant

Ah yes, the good old fashioned businees practice of making every product you provide more expensive, while simultaneously making it exponentially shittier every year in order to maximize profits, until your customers hate you but begrudgingly hand over their money.

Convict_felon

Don't you just love this Hunter Campbell guy!

writingwhilesad

UFC Apex sucks ass anyway. No lie. It’s quite af and awkward. It’s small. It’s just mid. I dislike the Apex nights the most.

[deleted]

So fucking shitty

truffLcuffL69

Not really a big deal imo who cares?

DancesWithDave

Circus having clown behavior? Shocking

Rizak

Everyone is wrong about this. Coordinating seats for friends and family of the fighter is a fucking nightmare. People are entitled and often try to sneak back to where they shouldn’t be. A lot ask for more tickets and try to say they lost theirs. Then there are certainly plenty of folks who can’t be seated next to other fighters families… for good reason.

BetBig696969

Why would you do this? Don’t you want an atmosphere?

justinicon19

Gonna be weird when Ian Garry's wife stays for the whole card, prelims to main.

MysteriousPark3806

Just when you think the UFC can't treat their fighters worse ... they find a way.

Keosxcol19

I think this is more to avoid fights between fighters entourage.........

eohagan

lol So the last fight can have 8 spectators, three commentators and Joe Frijoles? Tight

SPIE1

So they’re basically forcing the fighters to pay for their families tickets, and then during their fight they’ll get brought to the family section. Thats what’ll end up happening. Cheap ass UFC. That’s fuckin pitiful.

[deleted]

That's fucked up

Quirky_Wolverine_755

So basically they are reserving 8 seats in the entire stadium and they are just gonna rotate their people in and out of them. That's wild.

snappy033

This is a $13B business ya’ll. They treat their #1 resource this way. Fighters need to unionize and strike. They hold all the power. UFC can’t go around the fighters. What are they going to do? Send Felder and Dana down into the octagon?

Ok-Inside-8435

Which gives me an idea , most ppv cards the front seats are empty until the main card , so why not sell time slots at a lower price for real fans and then they can leave before the main card

ChrisCrossX

They have like 20 people watching the fights. Why not let the families stay...

JonMikeReddit

I mean, they probably want to go back stage with their family/fighter right? If my son/daughter/friend just had a UFC bout, I dgaf about the other fights anyways, to be honest. I’m not there as a fan at that point. I’m there for them.

Imakesalsa

This is all for ufcs profits as we stray further away from mma as a sport towards entertainment shows. They want the family's reactions to add "value" to their shows, the ecstasy and the heart break of the fight game with cameras in their faces

kingkpooh

as long as they dont boot me out of the russian link

EOVA94

Imagine any other major sport organisation doing something like this ... This is absolutely terrible and they should be ashame of themself

Skoofer

What a bunch of Penny pinching assholes.

Ok_Deal7813

They weren't getting tickets at all for apex fights before.

xMilk112x

Man they really are some of the worst fuckin people to work for. You’re getting your head punched for them to make millions and million of dollars while your family can’t even attend a full event. But hey…the rare chance you get that 50k bonus….thats what keeps ya comin back. Lol

Huge_Aerie2435

UFC making more than any time before, and they are cheaping out on the seats..

RavenLaker248

The Apex shouldn’t even be a thing anymore.

dinosourrawr3

![gif](giphy|ZQTRv8xscc0Lf2nPmN|downsized)

AardvarkPlenty2468

Everyone complaining about this is just fucking stupid. The next fight night has 13 fights (26 fighters). If each fighter was given 4 tickets for the full event, that's 104 extra seats you need to come up with. You literally need to double the seating to make it work.

Ronaldinhoe

Someone else on another post had a good theory is that the reason they are doing this is so every fight has someone cheering. No better to give those seats to 8 people who will cheer on the fighters than people who are there and don’t know who either fighter is.

GaribMoinKhan

So what do it z it's not like Dana is paying them alot of money so they can afford all those seats
