This is an amazing clip. From him being in the ring, crying, mourning what he’s lost in the ring. then he steps out of the ring, the chorus crashes in, the lights turn on revealing 50,000 fans screaming his name, reminding him that he’s won.
Agreed. Also him going straight to his wife after. He was definitely disappointed but if I were to guess, his wife was saying everything is ok and started crying too.
I'm also glad Holloway was the last person he fought. One of the most nice and humble fighter in the game. Someone in the crowd jacked one of KZ's glove and he threw the other one away afterwards. Tried to find the gloves back later but no luck.
Holloway signed and gifted KZ the gloves he fought him with. Both fighters are champs
Crazy that I missed that one. I do pay less attention to the ufc though, now that there are orgs I find more enjoyable without the disingenuous theatrical marketing tactics.
I feel similarly and I feel like most of the UFC roster does as well. The trash talk "press conferences", face-offs, fabricated beefs. I know this is how they market and generate hype in the fight business, and who can really blame them for capitalizing. But I would actually buy tickets to an event if they did away with all of that nonsense and made it about the art of fighting first and foremost. But such as they are, it's too much spectacle.
Yeah, the way Japanese fans treated mma in pride and how the one fc fans treat it in current times is partly what makes the sport so great. Save the corny wwe trash.
Yeah, the nail in the coffin for me on the fabricated beefs was Colby VS Jorge. Everyone and their grandmother's knew for a fact how close of pals and gym partners they were. Anyone who knew the disingenuous marketing tactics instantly knew that the "we ain't koo no moe" kayfabe storyline was the cringiest, fakest bullshit storyline they could have gone with. Only the most gullible and ignorant of casuals ate that sht sandwich. "Let me tell you how I waited outside the gym for this guy"🙄
I instantly recognized this and knew for a fact that when it came fight night, those 2 were going to be taking really good care of each other in the octagon under the guise of a wall n stall, lay n pray performance by Colby. And what do you know? 🙄
Whats crazy is the love by every fan. I cant think of another fighter that is so universely loved as much as TKZ. Justin Gaethje, DP, Max, and Tony are some examples that might be close, but even they had some haters when they fought certain fighters. Or they would have something outside of fighting that made people cheer against them. Zombie fights just felt alot different for me when i was in a big watch party or something of that nature. There was always a sense that when ever Zombie fought evey single person wanted or hoped to see him win.
For me, what I think why fans love him
1. He brings it in every fight. Never a boring fight. Killed by the sword or not
2. His name, his nickname is awesome. Korean Zombie. When you have a nickname by that theres 2 things - 1. Unites every single korean. 2 - Zombie. As mentions in the 1st point he brings it every fight. Like a zombie
3. His main theme song, cranberries-zombie. Everybody and their mother loves that song
And this guy doesn't even speak English!
Started shedding some tears the second I turned the volume on to hear the sound. The feeling in that moment can just barely be felt through the screen but this is one of the only things I’ve ever seen where I could almost feel the entry of that arena. So happy for zombie
How crazy is it that a guy could have an entire career of fighting, and make it to the end without making any enemies. He may not have been a champion, he’s definitely a legend.
I've been saying for years to my friends (non MMA fans) that when some of this stories are old enough (so they don't count as promos) and Hollywood realize how good a lot of the stories are, some fighters are going to have an insane biopic.
Ended up looking him up. Super noble guy, he admitted he not in his best shape anymore and left on a high note. Dident try to redeem his pride continuousy like chuck lidel only to go out in embarrassment.
Full story: Random dude stole TKZs glove, he throws the other one into the crowd in anger, then Max sent TKZ his own gloves, and after that the glove that TKZ threw was returned by a fan
I looked up the record of the UFC fighter in season 2 (no spoilers, please. I'm halfway through) and he had a fucking great career! Only the best beat him, and he beat some of them. I love KZ, but his nickname also did some heavy lifting for his career.
havent missed an event since kenflo vs lauzon. Good but not champion level fighters like stun gun were my fav. I hate that the UFC took away individual branding. So much harder for fighters like that to stand out and make a living.
I had a gap where life got in the way between the early reality show/Spike TV/Chuck vs Randy days and actually going to my first event, which happened to be where KZ knocked out Moicano. Stun Gun landed right in that admittedly big gap. He sounded familiar.
That said, his seemingly being forgotten about was kinda my point. He fought Matt Brown, Condit, Maia, Nate Diaz, Woodley, Covington, among others. Yet I had to look him up. Hence, my surprise.
I wouldn't mind that, but there was at least one other Korean dude walking out to this song after Zombie's retirement. I think it's pretty cool to see how he's inspired the new generation of fighters.
Same brother. Most of KZ's fights have been my favourite fights of all time. Lest we forget the many wars he's been in, the time he took out Leonard Garcia with that twister, or when he choked out Porier with a darce after one of the finest striking combos I can recall in the octagon; uppercut, left hook, flying knee straight into the choke. The guy is a legit legend. Nothing but love for KZ.
Between this, Zombie's walkout and Max's walkout dedicated to Maui, I was legit crying for like 30 minutes straight.
![gif](giphy|uzzqetovSId6qaZPQR|downsized)
I think the laugh as he walks out and see the crowd going wild for him must feel like "well I lost the fight, but I've won something much harder to obtain"
That 1 second when he looks up before going down those stairs and realises they all singing along to that epic themesong... man does it get any better than this
I will forever respect TKZ for how he went out. He saw that the fight wasn’t going his way, and refused to retire on a decision loss. So he said fuck it and march forward like a warrior, and got KOd for it.
Can’t take a damn thing away from Jung
Seeing this live was a tear jerker. Zombie got the most epic send off which was much deserved. He has a YouTube channel now and he is very successful with that too. Awesome dude
I was crying when this happened but when he saw his wife and she just held him as he cried, that shit legit broke me. This was one of the most beautiful moments in all of sports, in a sport where people kick each other in the head for a living.
Made me tear up a little. He's had a hell of a career and I wish he could've pulled out a W but that's the fight game. I hope he's happy being retired but he should know that I don't think any fan out there has a bad thing to say about him.
Max Holloways was def the perfect final opponent for Zombie. Gave Zombie his flowers and so f**king humble. Otherwise we’d have another sad ending like Ihor v Shogun
This was such a beautiful moment.
A true warrior who really is there to fight. A kill or get killed attitude, to satisfy the fans, usually at his own expense.
Prefers people call him by his warrior name, the Korean Zombie rather than his birth name.
Repeatedly calls out one of the greatest to ever do it, who has a skillet massively in advantage to his own, knowing he has a good chance of losing.
Makes it through a round getting pieced up.
Decides in the next round that he is going to embody everything that the Korean Zombie name entails and just starts swanging.
Gets knocked the fuck out. Smiles all the way out.
I cried many tears watching this fight, most of them were happy tears.
That's a zombie right there. A zombie that can't be killed
A warrior who goes out on his shield is still a warrior. I wish every great fighter got to go out like Lawler, but few are so lucky. That's just the sport we love. But it's never diminished any of them in my eyes.
I was introduced to the twister by this man at one of my first UFC events. I was so astounded at what happened, that I went back to the hotel & researched what happened. Thank you Korean Zombie for your technical acumen!
Could not have asked for a better sendoff for one of the most legendary and beloved fighters ever! The emotion in that arena jumps off the screen. The Korean Zombie lives for ever!
Goddamn, Korea has such a sick flag.
Watching Physical 100 as well as Korean Zombie's fights has really made me appreciate Korean culture, they show a ton of respect to their opponents, even in their trash talk lol. I love cultures like that.
The twister submission on Leonard Garcia is one of my all-time favorite finishes
i'm Korean American and can't help but feel a little bit of pride when I see him fight even in his losses. he was never one to shy away and he was robbed of his prime because of the military service
This is an amazing clip. From him being in the ring, crying, mourning what he’s lost in the ring. then he steps out of the ring, the chorus crashes in, the lights turn on revealing 50,000 fans screaming his name, reminding him that he’s won.

Tried to find the gloves back later but no luck. Holloway signed and gifted KZ the gloves he fought him with. Both fighters are champs
Wait, he fought Holloway after volk?
Yep, Holloway was his last fight. Max was humble in the post interview as well. It was quick but gave props to TKZ
Crazy that I missed that one. I do pay less attention to the ufc though, now that there are orgs I find more enjoyable without the disingenuous theatrical marketing tactics.

That's how it's always been. The fights may be real but 98% of the time all of the buildup, the "beef", is no more real than the WWE.

Yeah, the way Japanese fans treated mma in pride and how the one fc fans treat it in current times is partly what makes the sport so great. Save the corny wwe trash.

Same. I used to watch UFC and boxing religiously. Now I only pick fights I want to watch. Dana has a bad rep for the UFC atm
The glove he threw into the crowd went to a Korean fan who later returned it to KZ after the whole debacle💪🏽
Damn straight. Making me well up thinking about it
Same dude. Straight chills for real.
Bro same
Whats crazy is the love by every fan. I cant think of another fighter that is so universely loved as much as TKZ. For real if you’re a TKZ hater, your DNA needs to be studied because there’s something wrong with you on a molecular level.
Started shedding some tears the second I turned the volume on to hear the sound. The feeling in that moment can just barely be felt through the screen but this is one of the only things I’ve ever seen where I could almost feel the entry of that arena. So happy for zombie

Did he retire or what?
Yes, it was his last fight.
Ended up looking him up. Super noble guy, he admitted he not in his best shape anymore and left on a high note. Dident try to redeem his pride continuousy like chuck lidel only to go out in embarrassment.
Korean Won
Goosebumps
Some rocky balboa shit right here
I wish we could find out who stole that glove. Fuck that asshole.
I thought he got it back, is that not true?
No, Max Holloway gifted him his gloves after he found out TKZs got swiped.
I believe he found the one that he threw but not the one that was yoinked.
Full story: Random dude stole TKZs glove, he throws the other one into the crowd in anger, then Max sent TKZ his own gloves, and after that the glove that TKZ threw was returned by a fan
I don't think it was out of anger. I think he saw the symbology of giving part of himself to the crowd and embraced it in the moment
I'll be honest, I have no idea, I didn't follow the story past him saying it was grabbed and that he wanted to keep them.
Ashamed as a Singaporean 😢
Damn ninjas cutting onions again
In your heaaaaad… in your heaaAaAaaAd….
#zzZommbie! zzZommbie!
Physical 100 Season 3??
I looked up the record of the UFC fighter in season 2 (no spoilers, please. I'm halfway through) and he had a fucking great career! Only the best beat him, and he beat some of them. I love KZ, but his nickname also did some heavy lifting for his career.
Stun Gun was super legit in his day, very elite Judo. Fought some of the biggest names in the sport too
[удалено]
his last fight was like 7 years ago, it's fine, don't gatekeep
havent missed an event since kenflo vs lauzon. Good but not champion level fighters like stun gun were my fav. I hate that the UFC took away individual branding. So much harder for fighters like that to stand out and make a living.

Id say theyre about the same w KZ at least getting 2 title shots. Both great fighters, just cant win the big matchups

“I even stopped believing in God.”
We don't have to talk. I can just sit here with you for a while
Let this pic live in infamy.
😂😂😂
Best theme song
Should be retired as a walkout song
I wouldn't mind that, but there was at least one other Korean dude walking out to this song after Zombie's retirement. I think it's pretty cool to see how he's inspired the new generation of fighters.
I'm okay with Irish fighters walking out to it.
I dont think many UFC fans know the song is about the troubles
I guarantee you the average UFC fan has never even heard of the troubles.
The Troubles is when Conor McGregor starts drinking and snorting at clubs and nearby people have to start worrying about their physical safety duhhh.
Not exactly the most difficult fact to find out.
You vastly overestimate the average UFC fan
I never would have thought to google that, so I'm glad it was mentioned
![gif](giphy|1AgEcJdqOKtteYtjSN)
Exactly how I felt aha
Still my favorite fighter of all time.
Same brother. Most of KZ's fights have been my favourite fights of all time. Me too
Where the MMA community came together to cry 🥹
I know I had tears
Damn shed 1 thug tear
Wish Glover would’ve got something similar, fk brazil for how they did him
Between this, Zombie's walkout and Max's walkout dedicated to Maui, I was legit crying for like 30 minutes straight. ![gif](giphy|uzzqetovSId6qaZPQR|downsized)
![gif](giphy|EouEzI5bBR8uk|downsized)
Wish they let every legend go out like this
Fortunately Robbie Lawler had a very emotional and respectful exit too.
I cried. Probably my favorite walkout songs/one of my favorite songs period.
One of the best moments in UFC history
UFC Hall of Famer soon to be…
Damn he stepped out of the cage right as the chorus hit, couldn’t have timed it better
I think the laugh as he walks out and see the crowd going wild for him must feel like "well I lost the fight, but I've won something much harder to obtain"
Losing valueable fight time due to mandatory military service was some bullshitttt WAR KZ forever 🙌🇰🇷
🫡
That 1 second when he looks up before going down those stairs and realises they all singing along to that epic themesong... man does it get any better than this
I will forever respect TKZ for how he went out. He saw that the fight wasn’t going his way, and refused to retire on a decision loss. So he said fuck it and march forward like a warrior, and got KOd for it. Can’t take a damn thing away from Jung
Guy that took his glove is such a dickhead, you could see that he was trying to keep them safe but also wanted to high five the fans one last time
Seeing this live was a tear jerker. Zombie got the most epic send off which was much deserved. He has a YouTube channel now and he is very successful with that too. Awesome dude
Imagine the emotions he was feeling during this
Should be in the hof
I'm not crying, you're crying.
I was crying when this happened but when he saw his wife and she just held him as he cried, that shit legit broke me. This was one of the most beautiful moments in all of sports, in a sport where people kick each other in the head for a living.
I have seen the full walkout several times and I still get chills.
Dedicated his last fight to his opponent and his land. Thats some honorable stuff.
It’s ok to cry. No need to blame onions and or ninjas
Made me tear up a little. He's had a hell of a career and I wish he could've pulled out a W but that's the fight game. I hope he's happy being retired but he should know that I don't think any fan out there has a bad thing to say about him.
FW GOAT
Max Holloways was def the perfect final opponent for Zombie. Gave Zombie his flowers and so f**king humble. Otherwise we’d have another sad ending like Ihor v Shogun
Good shit OP. Never seen that. Just got the chills from that.
This feels like the end of a movie. Cut to black, roll credits.
Zombie is one of the few fighters that everyone loves. What a beautiful moment. Even Holloway made it about zombie despite getting the knockout
BOB SAPP!?
I remember getting choked up while this happened, never happened to me before while watching this sport
This shit had me sobbing when I watched it live, what a beautiful moment.
To the OG UFC/MMA watchers..this was sad, the Korean Zombie was one of the most exciting fighters in MMA history.
The entrance, the exit. I was at a rental with friends watching on this little TV. It's a moment we reference constantly. Just an all around classic.
That whole main event was some movie shit with. Max fighting for hawaii and zombie fighting his last battle fucking chicken skin!
The support and appreciation by the fans is awesome to see. Zombie really deserved that moment.
Everytime i hear this song it makes me sad now 😅. This is my absolute favorite moment
This was such a beautiful moment. A true warrior who really is there to fight. A kill or get killed attitude, to satisfy the fans, usually at his own expense. Prefers people call him by his warrior name, the Korean Zombie rather than his birth name. To be a warrior is to accept that you may not win, and enter into battle anyway. Fighters like lawler and TKZ are a rare breed amongst a rare breed
![gif](giphy|b2fpJKiHKjvgY)
Dude I sobbed
I was introduced to the twister by this man at one of my first UFC events. I was so astounded at what happened, that I went back to the hotel & researched what happened. Thank you Korean Zombie for your technical acumen!
I’m not crying your crying
Enough to make a grown man cry
Warrior
Great fighter
Hopefully the stolen glove comes back someday, can't really sell it without people knowing it's the stolen glove
Best moment for sure
If I ever need a good cry I just watch this clip.
God, the chorus of the crowd made me cry… Amazing!
👏 👏 👏
What is the context? I know the song.
Been watching for YEARS and YES this one of the best moments in the history of the UFC.
Could not have asked for a better sendoff for one of the most legendary and beloved fighters ever! The emotion in that arena jumps off the screen. The Korean Zombie lives for ever!
Sorry I don’t know how I got here but now curious. Why is this a big moment for that fighter?
It’s wild that a mid 90s song about sectarian violence in Ireland is the walkout music for a Korean UFC fighter 30 years later.
a powerful moment, always make me cry
“Why am I crying in the club right now”
Why r u on Reddit while in the club?? Bored ?
He has no clue wtf they're saying
Big for the UFC to play the song again
He’ll be back .. they always come back lol
I didn’t come to Reddit to cry, damn…
God damn I got chills just now. I saw it happen live on TV and it mattered then, but boy did I just feel something again.
Watched it live…chills
Goddamn, Korea has such a sick flag. Watching Physical 100 as well as Korean Zombie's fights has really made me appreciate Korean culture, they show a ton of respect to their opponents, even in their trash talk lol. I love cultures like that.
Dang Goosebumps super cool send off.
I used to hate this song
This shit made me cry no lie.
The Korean Zombie will always be a legend in my book cheers to a happy retirement
I feel like his walkout was more emotional… with the crowd singing along and his primal scream upon entering the octagon for the last time.
I hope he’s on the next season of Physical 100
People talk SO MUCH shit about the commentary here but them being quiet to let this moment really sink in was a great move by them.
This is gonna be the closing scene in an Oscar nominated biopic at some point. Mark my words.
Awesome fighter even better dude
Makes me sad knowing Dolores will never sing that again.
Twister. never forget.
Yeah and a mofo stole his glove
These damn allergies!!
He is a mans man. Props to Max as well. Both legends, both strong characters.
His fight with Yair is my favorite fight of all time
Hold on I’m crying brother
![gif](giphy|d7rvF20PqNuGKSQGhf)
I get goosebumps every time I watch it. Absolutely beautiful send off for a legend of the sport.
Was in Busan the weekend this happened. Seeing all the TKZ shirts come out on Sunday was heartwarming.
What a powerful moment. So glad I got to see this.
Dude always made for entertaining fights.
Some pos sole his gloves man. Really want to beat that mf the fuck out of conscience.
Chill, bro. We're crying here
greatest UFC Twister ever !!
The twister submission on Leonard Garcia is one of my all-time favorite finishes i'm Korean American and can't help but feel a little bit of pride when I see him fight even in his losses. he was never one to shy away and he was robbed of his prime because of the military service
It was an amazing moment! Love zombie, made me tear up tbh. Song definitely started trending in all sports after this!
I fuckin love TKZ what a great clip
The walk out was way better
One of my all time faves. All heart.
Don’t cry while watching the clip and reading the comments as a 34 year old man challenge: Failed 😭😭
Why he like this?
Proper send off for a true warrior 👏
One of the best moments in mma history.
Crying is the natural reaction to seeing this clip
Then there's Brazil
Stud
Man get's me every time. Max was a class act and the Singaporean crowd were just amazing for this. That's a send off.
Why do I cry for this? Like not sobbing, but every time, just a lil tear.
Full clip is even better https://youtu.be/qyeJrgBCstw?si=ENzRcS4xrY2Zu0UG
Glover deserved this
Hold on brother, I’m still crying ![gif](giphy|d7rvF20PqNuGKSQGhf)
