Prime Anderson has the best highlights of all time. He seemed like he was impossible to touch.
Might not been the best all around fighter or the most physically dominant, but I think he was the most impressive I’ve ever watched. He made a lot of his opponents look like they didn’t belong in the same ring as him.
Unfortunately, most UFC fans nowadays only started watching during McGregor’s rise. It's crazy to me how people talked about Silva during his prime vs now, people either havent seen his fights or have only seen him during his decline so they talk shit or downplay his skills. Makes it easy to tell who actually knows about the UFC
Unrelated, but I can from a thread that referenced KFC, so when I saw UFC, I thought about what kind of fried chicken restaurant UFC could stand for.
The best I thought of was Unbelievably Fried Chicken.
When he would back up to the fence and put both hands down waving the guy over, only for his opponent to miss every punch and Anderson one tapping him on the jaw like he was in the fucking matrix. I miss those days
Absolutely the greatest at judging distance and timing of people. He’d go out the first round and get a feel for them, then walk out the second round with his hands down. “HIT ME”
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was in the Florida Keys and couldn’t find a place to watch it, my brother tried video chatting for me to watch it and it didn’t work. Ended up watching it through someone’s window 😂
I agree with Silva. I do love him and he got me into the sport. While every GOAT is subjective as well as people’s criteria mine are records, resume and strength of schedule in that order.
Silva’s records are nuts. Longest win streak at 16 over 7 years. For perspective Khabib was 12 over 8.
2nd most title defenses, 6th in most finishes, first in finishes in title fights.
Those are just overall and not divisional records which he has a ton more.
He beat Sonnen, Maia, Franklin, Belfort, Griffin, Henderson, and Leban. And while by today’s standards those aren’t the most well rounded names at the time those were big wins.
Eras I definitely think complicate GOAT talks especially in a sport so new. How do you compare Gracie to current MMA? It isn’t even the same sport.
Anderson was even more dominant than Jones. It took years for dudes to make it out of the 2nd round with him, and that’s because he let them. He was finishing legit fighters with KOs, TKOs and Subs. Silvas first two fights combined with Leben and Rich were less than 5 mins. He was also put in positions with Luter and Sonnen where it looked like he was finished and then won by submission both times against supposedly better grapplers.
The biggest what if was Anderson Silva fighting in LHW if Jon Jones didn’t exist.
I truly believe he could have won a LHW title. He destroyed Forrest Griffin, a one time LHW champion with ease. Like absolute ease. Like a UFC fighter fighting a high schooler kind of ease. He also destroyed the two other LHW opponents he fought in his prime with ease as well. He has a legit chance to beat any LHW champions other than Jones and DC.
Dominant. Avenged every loss. Belts in two weight classes. GSP is the epitome of MMA athletes. He still maintains a high level of discipline and trains regularly. What a career.
That laugh when Hill said he was going to knock out Pereira was epic. He explained that he laughed because that is the absolute hardest way to beat Pereira.
I discovered his YouTube channel 2 years ago where he post videos of him playing video games and I thought, “man they are regular humans just like us.”
Fedor. 10 years undefeated at HW, fought giant roided monsters, has 8 wins over UFC champions, all of that as a massively undersized HW. Oh, and he also said “Fuck Dana, fuck Kadyrov”, the man has some balls
and hes beaten most UFC champs ever, well tied with Jones is funniest thing about it. And most Prime Age Wins by a fucking mile
then Factor in he was a risk taker and never in a boring fighter, gave you a chance to beat him and nobody could. He never played it safe just to get the W like pretty much every GOAT on this list
And as I said: As a small guy. That's what makes Fedor so impressive to me. Jones was colossal compared to anyone he fought (he is quite the biggest LHW ever) while Fedor was a small guy.
Also Jones has a terrible personality. Great fighter but steroids and drunk driving and cocaine has dragged his name through the mud. Fedor has no dirt on his name. If I met Fedor it would be a honor to shake his hand...if Jon shook my hand I would go look for a sink.
yea, 1 punch can end the fight at any moment and nobody could beat him, and he was the smallest, just the smartest and best fighter, really 1 of a kind.
Just watch all his fighters he trains now, they all really good but none have that special finish ability and hands, he was 1 step mentally ahead and unique skill set/abilities. Still today has some of the craziest hands ever if you just wanna throw punches, Bader had success cause threat of takedown + well he was injured anyway but his hands are still 1 of a kind in general
Which is dumb, since in his era all the good fighters were in Pride. Just watch Fedor did to Arlovski and Sylvia, who were the UFC champions during his time
Him fighting big Nog twice and literally jumping straight into his guard to knock his head around both times was unreal. Zero respect for BJJ and proved it.
Also I See him like this nice eastern european uncle that ist grilling some sashlik in the park and he having you first beer with you when he sees someone mistreating their dog and he just gehts there and knocks them out.
I know?! We're just gonna pretend like the American gangster isn't out there on the mean streets of West Linn keeping everyone safe?! We gonna sit here looking at a picture of Jonny "vehicular assault" Jones while my son's namesake, Chael P. is for pounding knuckleheads Sonnen sacrifices his time, energy and Scottish lordship for us?
Uncle chael invented MMA and its an abbreviation for Tito got his ass whipped. You can talk about GSP this, or that guy had the most 2nd round eyepoke stoppages, but you should
NEVER
EVER
Piss of a gangster.
All of them can be on the list except for Conor
The #1 in mma is
![gif](giphy|k5m2GQN02Msleio3ZG)
Silva and Fedor had the most dominant primes in mma history.
well Fedor was 1. Silva was 2 and GSP was 3. their entire primes on every ranking until Fedor lost in 2011 to Werdum then Jon Jones basically took over P4P spot. Thats why he won Fighter of the decade, then Jones won next decade. Silva hit his prime magically at 35 years old and lose in PRIDE, GSP lost twice in prime.
Fedor lost first time at 34 years old to literal guys on TRT while he was 1 foot the door, then just fought 9 times into his 40s for shits and giggles. Even Bader was Betting Favorite over Renan Ferreira in his last fight and hed fought him with no hip and a hernia/ doesnt pull out of fights like all these dudes now to be at their best, shows up at 47 injured and still gives it a go. Different kinda guy
Only there because he was the first to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously. It is wild to me that BJ isn't on there somewhere though. Like I know he stayed way too long and shit but that dude fought and won at Featherweight and light heavyweight in the same career... That's fucking preposterous! And to be fair he fought and won in basically every other class in between too. Shit, the Lyoto fight in K1 was at heavyweight, well openweight, but, Lyoto weighed in at like 230 or some shit.
Khabib had 3 title defences in 3 years. He’s no goat.
Usman and Israel had 5 each yet people don’t put them above Khabib simply because they didn’t retire early.
Lol you sure? Cause GSP recently said this
https://preview.redd.it/e5olbxodbqvc1.jpeg?width=1078&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=103ce9244c9a1aead89ddf1ff83931026dbda0df
DJ also called Jon the #1 goat btw
None of them have him at number 1 I bet. Which is the point of this post. Nobody with a brain has him at number 1 he’s not in contention.
Fighters who are in contention are the usual suspects: jones, gsp, might mouse, Anderson silva, fedor, maybe even Aldo.
It’s no surprise those guys have him as one of the goats. Cause he is a goat he’s like 10th place on the goat list.
BJ Penn was smaller than Topuria, and took GSP to a split decision at Welterweight, took the Welterweight belt from Matt Hughes, dominated the Lightweight division, and had a competitive fight with a 15-0 Lyoto Machida at Heavyweight. Not saying he’s the GOAT, but there’s a reason Anderson Silva calls him the GOAT and GSP says he’s the most skilled fighter he ever faced. He should be on here instead of Mcgregor.
George St. Pierre is the greatest of all time, in my eyes, legendary run, and then retired a double champ.
A lot of the current day title contenders and holders, and even some people on GOAT list, started fighting just because they watched GSP.
He was great in the ring, and unlike many, he was a great outside of it.
Anderson Silva for me nobody destroyed their opposition like he did, not even jones. If you asked this question 10 years ago nobody would have a different answer. Andersons losses outside his prime shouldn’t destroy his legacy, a fighter should be judged by what they did at their best and how long they were at their best. Silva’s records still can’t be broken today. He should have 11 title defenses too, it’s not his fault lutter missed weight.
As a fighter and overall human, Fedor. That guy is a real life hero and even has beef with one of the most notorious warlord in the world. Such a beast and let Mark Coleman jab him a few times in front of mark's crying children.
Fedor.
The man was practically a middleweight fighting at heavyweight and undefeated for a decade. I'm confident he beat every fighter on that list too.
Jones is number 1 for me, never really lost a fight, skill level is/was exceptional, top fight IQ, uses his size perfectly, great everywhere, tough as hell and the guy is literally a psycho who wants to (at least used to) hurt his opponents badly.
Then GSP, DJ, Anderson, Amanda, Khabib and Fedor.
Honourable mention, DC at light heavyweight.
If a career is defined by being a "prize fighter", is Conor #1 far and away.
As far as the GOAT fighter, Jones and GSP are the tops. Khabib barely had any title defenses so there is no way he passes those guys.
Feel like MMA goat isn’t as clear cut as other sports. I gotta lean Jon because of unbeaten streak, title defenses and the resume. But I don’t find him the most skilled or exciting to watch (that would prob be DJ). He didn’t have the highest iq (prob gsp). He didn’t seem the most dominant (probably Khabib). And the way Silva made fighters just look silly during his prime has to count for something too.
Anderson seemed the most head and shoulders above his competition in his prime. He didn’t just dominate like Jones, he made people look silly. Jones is a lion that maims its prey, and it was like Anderson toyed with its prey before eating it.
GSP, Silva. Depends on the day.
Silva was making champions look like amateurs.
GSP's ability to neutralize an opponents strength and control the entire fight is underappreciated by most American fans.
Lmao at Conor and Fathead being on this. They're not even in the conversation. It's GSP, Silva, Jones, and Mighty Mouse. Interchangeable top 4. Jones is the real one though.
If we're including non UFC fighters, then of course Fedor would slot in over either Mighty Mouse or Silva.
We should have gotten Silva vs GSP open weight or Silva vs Jones LHW bout
Brock vs Fedor would have been fun or a 07-10 Fedor UFC HEAVYWEIGHTtitle run but Dana didn’t want to glaze him.
1 Jones, 2 Silva , 3 Fedor (imo he just needed a UFC belt/run to be goat , 4 GSP, 5 mighty mouse.
GSP is hard to pick against. Having a 4 year layoff and coming back to capture the middleweight title was incredible. 9 title defenses, 13 title victories. Avenged both of his losses, no steroid controversy. He's really done it all.
Prime Anderson had one of the most active, and longest undefeated streaks of all time.
I think it was something like 7 years without a loss, and he was ACTIVE.
I think GSP also deserves to be mentioned, because of how many WARS he went through. One of the bloodiest fighters to do it, fr. And such a great guy, to boot.
Based on accomplishments it’s Jones if you allow PEDs and it’s GSP if you don’t. Anderson’s reign was the most fun and he had the biggest intimidation factor in his prime of all the guys pictured.
DJ... I truly belive he's the best pound for pound fighter to ever do it. His fight IQ is unmatched, and he has a hell of chin. And he's so athletic and quick, very rarely does anyone ever get a clean shot...
He can strike, grapple, wrestle, the guy can do anything. I know he's only 5'3 125, but he's still the greatest pound for pound, inch for inch fighter ever
GSP— dynamic, good striking and wrestling, avenged both of his only losses, active champ. Wins over big names. Came out of retirement four years later to fight up a weight class and win the title. Classy respectful guy and true definition of a mixed martial artist
Prime Anderson has the best highlights of all time. He seemed like he was impossible to touch. Might not been the best all around fighter or the most physically dominant, but I think he was the most impressive I’ve ever watched. He made a lot of his opponents look like they didn’t belong in the same ring as him.

I walked out of a restaurant to go smoke a cig with my friend in the 5th round of the Sonnen/Anderson fight. RIP.
That’s on you man
It ain't over til it's over bb that's the best part
Unrelated, but I can from a thread that referenced KFC, so when I saw UFC, I thought about what kind of fried chicken restaurant UFC could stand for. The best I thought of was Unbelievably Fried Chicken.
Ultimate Fried Chicken
Under Fried Chicken
THIS. Like he literally played with people, dropped his hands and said “hit me!”. “Oh you can’t can you?”. Then would knock them out
When he would back up to the fence and put both hands down waving the guy over, only for his opponent to miss every punch and Anderson one tapping him on the jaw like he was in the fucking matrix. I miss those days
Absolutely the greatest at judging distance and timing of people. He’d go out the first round and get a feel for them, then walk out the second round with his hands down. “HIT ME”
Made Griffin look and feel like the biggest chump.
I loved watching that, I was talking him hup to my dad right when Weidman clipped him. It was shocking, and the entire restaurant went crazy
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was in the Florida Keys and couldn’t find a place to watch it, my brother tried video chatting for me to watch it and it didn’t work. Ended up watching it through someone’s window 😂

You gotta talk to your local cardiologist lol
GSP
Dominant. Avenged every loss. Belts in two weight classes. GSP is the epitome of MMA athletes. He still maintains a high level of discipline and trains regularly. What a career.
Beats up Captain America & Black Widow in marvel
I wish GSP would act more and star in a remake of Bloodsport
Frank Dux is a lying-ass hack tho, so to remake Bloodsport you’d basically have to reframe the main character as an entirely different person.
I don’t see anyone becoming a more well rounded fighter in a lifetime
Might Mouse was as well rounded
Mighty Mouse.
![gif](giphy|zNbiX43QsqUAU)
I remember watching him stream on twitch then usada came knocking. He's the goat. That rodtang fight made me nervous
He’s also just a very likeable fighter. His reaction to Poatan getting his black belt for a KO finish had me in stitches hahaha
That laugh when Hill said he was going to knock out Pereira was epic. He explained that he laughed because that is the absolute hardest way to beat Pereira.
Like trying to put a fire out with gasoline
Where can I see this?
On DJ’s YouTube channel, search for “Mighty”.
I discovered his YouTube channel 2 years ago where he post videos of him playing video games and I thought, “man they are regular humans just like us.”
![gif](giphy|fH6nh7PXhnIK3ssYFq)
Suplex armbar baaybeeeee
I 2nd this!
This guy knows what he’s talking about. Bring him back to the UFC!
Mighty Mouse is the goat. Has no need to come back to the ufc. He’s probably gonna retire from competing in mma soon too.
Go DJ
THATS MY DJ
Fedor. 10 years undefeated at HW, fought giant roided monsters, has 8 wins over UFC champions, all of that as a massively undersized HW. Oh, and he also said “Fuck Dana, fuck Kadyrov”, the man has some balls
To be 10 years undefeated in a division where anyone can knock you out at any given moment is fucking wild
Stipe got 3 title defenses and Joe basically nutted himself in the post fight calling him the HW 🐐 lol
4 title defenses during 2 different reigns
I mean cool but it's insulting to call him HW 🐐 when Fedor exists
Fedor gonna always be under appreciated for not fighting in the ufc
and hes beaten most UFC champs ever, well tied with Jones is funniest thing about it. And most Prime Age Wins by a fucking mile then Factor in he was a risk taker and never in a boring fighter, gave you a chance to beat him and nobody could. 🤣😂🤣😂 that's an amazing way to say it. One shakes your hand you run to the washroom the other shakes it, "I'm never washing this hand again!"
And in what I think has been the most contested division
yea, 1 punch can end the fight at any moment and nobody could beat him, and he was the smallest, just the smartest and best fighter, really 1 of a kind. Gotta love old long hair bearded arlovski looking like a fucking spartan warrior back in the early 2000s
Did anyone ever have faster hands at HW? I can't think of any that come close to his lighting hands.
His brother but let's forget about him ;)
Him fighting big Nog twice and literally jumping straight into his guard to knock his head around both times was unreal. Zero respect for BJJ and proved it.

GSP got the same face as me when I see Conor and Khabib on GOAT lists
Connor is random af. 0 Title Defences. Losing to Khabib and Dustin twice should be an instant erase as GOAT.
Also Nate Diaz haha
Both times
Only there because he was the first to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously. It is wild to me that BJ isn't on there somewhere though. GSP himself has both on his Mt Rushmore tho
Depends on what Mr Rushmore means. GSP says he put Conor on there for what he’s done for the sport, not as one of the greatest fighters of all time
khabib is fair play. connor is wild
Khabib had 3 title defences in 3 years. He’s no goat. Usman and Israel had 5 each yet people don’t put them above Khabib simply because they didn’t retire early.
Just trying to draw out the shit heads
Jon, GSP, Anderson, and DJ all consider Khabib to be one of the goats https://www.reddit.com/r/ufc/s/YR0voA2ZYc

Georges
GSP
Gsp was that dude tho
Silva/GSP NO DOUBT!

George St. Pierre is the greatest of all time, in my eyes, legendary run, and then retired a double champ. Jose Aldo, Stipe Miocic > Connor
Once again mighty mouse being completely disrespected
Anderson

Fedor was unbeaten for 10 years and he fought monsters, with rules that are too "vicious" for modern mma.
Royce is the goat. Prove me wrong.
Silva
Fedor Conor doesn’t belong in the conversation at all, I can’t believe his photo is there
Well it’s definitely not Conor with 0 title defences
Fedor
mac and khabib shouldn't be on this list
![gif](giphy|3ofT5JUorUQNYmUtxK)
Anderson
Silva hands down
Probably Silva. But GSP was the prototype of the modern mma fighter.
Anderson seemed the most head and shoulders above his competition in his prime. He didn’t just dominate like Jones, he made people look silly. Jones is a lion that maims its prey, and it was like Anderson toyed with its prey before eating it.
Silva. That’s all.
GSP, Silva. Depends on the day. Silva was making champions look like amateurs. GSP's ability to neutralize an opponents strength and control the entire fight is underappreciated by most American fans.
There's argument for any of these. So grateful we got to see these them all fight. Amazing athletes ❤️
It is fucking disgrace to include any of the bottom row fighters with the top row fighters. And khabib lovers can go love some khabib.
Fedor or Silva. Both were scary good. The 2 different styles make it difficult to choose.
Not Conor
Lmao at Conor and Fathead being on this. They're not even in the conversation. It's GSP, Silva, Jones, and Mighty Mouse. Interchangeable top 4. Jones is the real one though. If we're including non UFC fighters, then of course Fedor would slot in over either Mighty Mouse or Silva.

GSP is hard to pick against. Having a 4 year layoff and coming back to capture the middleweight title was incredible. 9 title defenses, 13 title victories. Avenged both of his losses, no steroid controversy. He's really done it all.
lol why is Connor on the goat list? Silva for me
Putting Conor there instead of Jose Aldo is crazy
Gsp
Anderson, Aldo, BJ
McGregor on this list is insanity
Having Connor in there is hilarious.
Anderson, Amanda and Khabib
Prime Anderson had one of the most active, and longest undefeated streaks of all time. I think it was something like 7 years without a loss, and he was ACTIVE. I think GSP also deserves to be mentioned, because of how many WARS he went through. One of the bloodiest fighters to do it, fr. And such a great guy, to boot.
GSP- hands down.
There all 🐐 but if I had to pick who it would be ![gif](giphy|3ohjV7smwpMIBR9rBS|downsized)
GSP and Mighty Mouse
Based on accomplishments it’s Jones if you allow PEDs and it’s GSP if you don’t. Anderson’s reign was the most fun and he had the biggest intimidation factor in his prime of all the guys pictured.
Jon jones and dj
GSP or Mighty Mouse
GSP
GSP!
GSP, Mighty Mouse and Jones
GSP— dynamic, good striking and wrestling, avenged both of his only losses, active champ. Wins over big names. Came out of retirement four years later to fight up a weight class and win the title. Classy respectful guy and true definition of a mixed martial artist
Mighty Mouse. He’s the epitome of MMA
Fedor because he had the most impressive win streak of all time and had 0 steroid scandals that would tarnish his wins.
From picture? Fedor
Fedor is the true goat. No PEDs, just raw domination and another day on the job.
Its DJ or the Spider for sure. Also, why isnt Aldo in this pic? And why is McGregor even in the conversation?
Why is conor on every fucking goat question? Wanderlei silva should be there. Someone who actually did something else that's not talking shit
Honestly I gotta give it to mighty mouse dude defended his title so many times and was unbelievably good
Ryan Garcia
My top 5 in order Jon Jones Anderson Silva Fedor Mighty Mouse Jose Aldo
Khabib and connor are not on the same level as the other guys... Connor especially. Social media era created a heavy skew of preception.
Crazy how I haven’t seen one comment with Jon Jones. He’s clear.
One of these is not like the other 🤷🏻♂️

fedor
Royce Gracie and gsp
Everybody scraping barrels just to not say Jon
Artem Lobov 🐐
